Mae Day

Rate this book
Her job may seem boring to most, but Mae gets a sense of satisfaction being behind the scenes and working to secure subpoenaed documents for law firms. The hot custodian isn’t anything to sneeze at, either. But when home-grown terrorists try to blow up her company, the quiet hottie’s lightning-fast reflexes take over, showing her a side of him she’s never seen.
Jason is a Marine trying to fit into his new civilian role. He doesn’t want to be anything more than a productive member of society, and maybe a little more to the woman who stays late every night. When he saves her, they realize there’s so much more to what they want than either of them realized.

When her life is endangered by a man who shouldn’t even be in their lives, Delta forces are called in to help. Jason has to find a way to get through this so she can be his forever.

Enjoyable novella. With all novellas, the story is brief and sometimes character development suffers. For me, if Conley had cut back on the sex scenes (I can't believe I am even saying that) it would have given more 'page time' to developing the story. I think there were 4 sex scenes and in a novella, that takes up a lot of space.
I will forever remember this as the day I said there was too much sex....it doesn't happen often.

MAE DAY is the ninth book in the Pierce Securities series. While it will stand alone, I strongly urge you to read all of them - they are wonderful.

To say I loved this book is an understatement. I could not put it down and stayed up way too late reading – thank God it was the weekend! There is no point when I could set it aside and say, “I’ll be back.” I had to know what next, and next, and…

I recommend this to anyone who loves an HEA, heroes, and action-packed suspense.

I’m told that the men from the Delta forces, who also make an appearance in this story, are from Susan Stoker’s series, but I’ve never read those books. I loved the ones we were met in this book. I would give Fletch a hug and a kiss (and maybe a punch in the gut) any day of the week. He epitomizes the term gentleman. Thank you Susan Stoker for allowing Anne Conley to introduce me to your boys this way.

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Short read that packs a lot in.
Started straight away with the action in chapter one! Who doesn't love that! I only wish chapter one was longer!
Loved that Mae wasn't like the typical virgin you read about in other books

"Virgin. Not dead"

Brilliant!!! Very heated scenes between her and Jason. They had great chemistry that worked amazingly well.
Enjoyable short read with a few omg moments thrown in to keep you hooked.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

A WONDERFULLY fitting story by Anne Conley in Susan Stoker's popular Kindle World series. I freaking Swooned, sighed, fell in love with Mae Day! Exciting, sexy, and oh so sweet, I just fell HARD for Jason and Mae. The story contains a few elements and characters from Miss Stoker's stories and a few from Anne Conley's Pierce Security series.

The fact we get some major, heart-pumping, adrenaline surging in chapter 1 was AWESOME! And its the kind of action that has a sexy hero rescuing his woman..oh yea, TOTAL SWOON WORTHY RIGHT THERE! Anne Conley writes wonderful stories and Mae Day contains EVERYTHING you love most. The characters are dreamy and perfectly developed and the plot is IRRESISTIBLE to me! I go for these types of stories and for me, I think Miss Conley BLEW it out of the water! I So want my own Jason!

Mae Day gets a SIZZLING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! I LOVED this book and from the start I was HOOKED! Can I please get an encore?!

Short and Sweet!
This review is so easy to write because I truly liked this book. Mae Day book is an awesome addition to Susan Stoker’s collection as well as Pierce Securities. This book was short however it was not lacking on anything. I loved Jason and Mae characters; I liked how both grew to who they really were with each other. While I was waiting to see who was gonna pop in the book from both collections, I was happy to see fletch and ghost appear. Basically the short version, Mae and Jason work in the same building and he saves her life by disarming a bomb then they are together forever even with the little hiccup later in the book. Anyone looking for a good book, read this one then pop over and read all of Pierce Securities and Susan Stoker military books.

I really enjoyed the story of Mae and Jason. These two are made for each other.
Mae works in a building that Jason is a janitor. Due to an event that happens in this building, Jason finds himself protecting Mae, and Mae is very happy to let him do just that. Their relationship blooms from there, and we see how right they are for each other. Both getting promotions, they fly out to a remote are in the Gulf to interview some one, and once again Jason will have to protect Mae.
We get to see a little of those awesome Pierce Security guys, that we all know and love as well!
Quick, great read I highly recommend it!

So I know this is a novella and that means it's short. This particular series is really awesome with well developed characters, solid world, good interaction between main and support characters, realistic reactions to drama, believable romance, and strong women. With a novella a lot of that is usually only touched on instead of developed and it helps that it's set in a familiar universe, but with this particular book there was a bigger amount of drama than there were pages to do it justice. I liked the pairing between Jason and Mae and had a desire to see that they came out on the other side successfully. Jason was both hot and sweet with his devotion to Mae that was tender and had the potential to last even if things moved quickly between them. When it's right, it's right, you know? Similarly with Mae who built trust and affection with Jason even though things began with being interested from afar. They were good together and the confessions were very sweet. There were also a couple cringe-worthy moments that were a bit over the top. The life purpose moments felt contrived, starry-eyed naive kind. Yes, sudden realizations are good, but the way that part was written sounded like it shouldn't be coming from Jason's mouth. The sentiments were genuine, but the delivery was cheesy...and not in a good way. Overall this was an enjoyable story with a bit too much packed into such a short book. Bombs, military, kidnapping, family connections, budding romance, broken promises...just a bit too much to be truly satisfying.

Read and willingly reviewed for the author.

A fantastic book and a great addition to the special forces kindle world. Not only does it have a few of the pierce security in there but also Ghost and Fletch make an appearance with a mention of Tex although not by name.

Jason was in the marines as explosive ordinance division then retired as he felt with his personality he didn't really want to go any higher because he liked the quiet life and followed rather than led. More of a thinker. So he gets a job at a custodians office as a janitor until he figures out what he wants to do. Mae also works at the office but as a person who gets the files needed for the subpoenas for on going cases.

After working late one night things take a turn as bad men come into her building. Luckily Jason is there to help. They get to know each other and life goes on until they both get promotions. A trip to a rig ends in a life or death race as someone from from Jason's past makes his move. Can Jason and the Delta's save everyone?

This was a fantastic story from Anne Conley. I love her pierce security books and when she pairs them with the special forces kindle world then the readers gets an even more fantastic book to read. I would recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed this book as an advanced reader copy.

Mae's day full of internal screaming MAYDAY MAYDAY. Lucky for her the janitor has special skills. This was a short read but oh so worth it. Most short stories, I find, don't really have a lot of character depth, but that couldn't be further from the truth in this book! Totally hooked from chapter one right to the end, and left me wanting more. Love that the pierce boys were in it but that being said, Jason and Mae definitely hold the limelight. Steamy, sassy awesomeness!

Action!
From the very beginning, there’s a minute or two of intrigue, and meeting Mae, who’s a great character and getting a glimpse of “sex on a stick” Jason, and then… action. That quickly turns into adventure, of the romance / domestic types, but the promise of action never leaves and there’s mystery. I love me some mystery and the heat factor absolutely did not hurt anything.

The cover is beautiful and I’m not going to comment on the editing/proofing, as I was fortunate enough to receive and advance reader copy (pre-edits) of this, in exchange for my honest review.

I’m a huge fan of the Pierce Securities series, but I am behind, as I’m only five books in - still I could easily pick this up any time, there are no spoilers or confusion. Just cross-over characters, so I get a glimpse at some of those yummy Pierce boys *and* some of Stoker’s yummy Delta boys. Highly recommend, regardless of where you are in the Pierce series. This is the second Anne Conley contribution to Susan Stoker’s Kindle Worlds I’ve read and I’d gladly read a thousand more. Short, sweet, hot and action-packed, it’s a great break from life.

Character Development:
Brilliant.
Conley has a way of developing complex characters that I just want more of, unlike some authors who are unable to give individual voices to individual characters. This makes her reading all the more addictive.

Easily 4 stars.

Mae Day is a short novella that packs a punch right from the very beginning. There's terrorists, bombs, hot attraction between Jason and Mae and of course secondary characters from both Pierce Securities and Susan Stokers Delta Forces.

When Mae works late one night, little does she know that the attraction she feels for Jason and is in the process of acting on her feelings towards him when their office is taken over by terrorist looking for something on their servers. Jason will take out the attackers and the bomb which will lead to a new security chief job. But this story is jam packed with espionage, bombs, a long lost father that he never knew and an interesting hostage crisis in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. Will Jason be able to save Mae once again? When Ghost and his team are sent to help Jason its Fletch who will protect Mae but with a promise that he'll make sure Jason will be safe but he may not be able to keep it. I really loved this book and give it a 4.6 stars rating.

Mae has a nice quiet job she likes to stay late at to get the job done every day. She has a pretty important roll at work. Then there is the janitor Jason who is a hottie. One night while she is there late, her and Jason get to know eachother alittle better. While they are getting to know eachother, the company is taken over by terrorists. There is a bomb in the building and Jason is an ex marine. He is able to save the building but not before to much damage is done. Whoever is behind this has copied files and has access to their data base.

Many weeks later, Jason get a promotion to head of security and Mae also gets a promotion which causes her to travel. Jason decides he will accompany her. Luckily for her he's there when something happens.

When the person in charge is there, Mae doesn't know what to do. Jason just tries to do what he does best. I can't believe who was behind it!!!

Another amazing read by the talented amazing Anne Conley. She never disappoints.

Anne Conley knows how to write action and twist you up and keep you on the edge of your chair. In Mae Day, she does it again. The story starts off with action and ends with a twist you do not see coming but fits perfectly into the story. Mae is sweet and caring and a little bit shy trying to do a job she doesn’t want while Jason is trying to fit into a role he isn’t made for. Due to some heroics, both take on new roles and responsibilities but that comes with a major twist. With cameos from both the Pierce boys and the Susan Stoker’s Deltas the action gets even harder. I loved seeing Mae grow and change but stay her sweet self.

Anne Conley has written another perfect little read with this one. A Novella set in Susan Stoker’s World. Read this book if you want a good read that is action packed. I loved it.

Mae is a sweet, shy, conscientious worker. She loves her job and often stays late to finish her tasks. Lately, she lingers just to catch a glimpse of the hot new custodian. When Mae finally gets up the nerve to make a move on Jason, the office is nearly blown up by terrorists. Jason's quick thinking and explosives training as a Marine, thwarts the attempt. Jason is quickly promoted to Head of Security. With the help of Pierce Security, he vows to keep Mae safe....

Anne Conley was brilliant in integrating Pierce Securities and Delta Force in this novella! It was a perfect addition to Susan Stoker's Kindle World. The suspense and unexpected plot twist at the end had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I also enjoyed the sweet, endearing scenes between Mae and Jason. Loved it! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

A quick and entertaining action packed romance!

Mae Day is full of of action and just enough romance to keep your interest piqued. The story has many steamy scenes throughout. Anne Conley really knows how to build up the action while creating characters that are well developed and engaging. Anne Conley did a good job of intertwining the characters from other books in the series into this one.

Typical of Anne Conley, this book does not disappoint and keeps you on your toes wondering what is going to happen next. You do not have to read all the books in order to understand what happens or who the different characters are. I recommend Mae Day to anyone that enjoys reading an entertaining romance.

This is another fast-paced story with everything from hot love to kidnapping and bombs. I love this book because it includes characters from Anne Conley’s Pierce Securities series and Susan Stoker’s Delta Force team series. You don’t need to read either series to understand this book, BUT why wouldn’t you want to. Each of these authors has written amazing stories.

Mae and Jason will keep you on your toes from the beginning. They both feel this pull towards each other. Once they get together they won’t want to be apart. They feel the need to comfort each other and help with any situation. Their chemistry is beautiful. You won’t want to put this book down.

Thank you Anne Conley for a fascinating story with incredible characters.

Mae liked working at the law firm doing the subpoenas. Working late just to see the hot janitor made her days. She just couldn't seem to get up the nerve to talk to him. Jason is an ex Marine, making due as he figures out what he wants to do with his life now. When the company is broken into it is Jason who keeps Mae safe. He loves the feel of her in his arms, even when he is figuring out to disarm the terrorists.

I liked this book, there are a few curveballs that really take it another level. The fact that Jason and Mae are of the same mind and ambition, it was nice to Jason step up and realize the he wants to improve himself for Mae

Would definitely recommend it.

Mae works at a document collection company. She's working late one night and decides to follow through on seducing the hot janitor, Jason. However, before things get too far they hear a commotion and hide...someone is trying to blow up the building! As it turns out, Jason is a former Marine, explosives specialist, and saves the day...um night! Who would want to blow up a document company? Will Mae and Jason pick up where they left off? This is a quick read with lots of suspence, romance & a cameo by our friends from Pierce Securities. No cliffy and has an HEA.

ENTERTAINING ADVENTURE

An entertaining story about two people who become immediately attracted and find a strong connection. He is an ex military working as a custodian while trying to find his way and his next profession in life. She works in the records department. One evening their building is infiltrated by a team of mercenaries who have planted a bomb in the building. An intense drama as these two develop their relationship and the company tries to beef up security to prevent future attacks.

A Very Exciting Short Read!!
This book was full of Action! This is definitely a fun read. Mae is hard working and staying late so she can lay eyes on the Sexy night Janitor. Jason is more than he appears to be. One night will change everything. They will have to trust each other if they want to get out alive. You may find a few other characters from Anne's books you recognize. I loved it and can't get enough of her books.

A good addition to the Pierce security series. Doesn't really feature the team much but this did not spoil my enjoyment of the book in the least. The main characters are well written and you really root for them and care what happens. This is always pivotal in a book for me and this book was a total success in this area. The only one thing I would say is that it seemed a bit short. But is it such a bad thing to want more??

Jason and Mae!

Simply loved it! Jason and Mae meet under unusual circumstances but they do meet! Jason is working as a custodian and Mae is an office worker working in her cubical but works late just to look at Jason, a former U.S. Marine. Jason and Mae hit it off but there are complications. Jason and Mae do get their HEA but they have hoops to go through to get there. Good 👍 story!

I really liked this book. I would love to read more about this couple.

Jason is a man who is just trying to figure out his place in the world. His only bright spot is the woman who stays late every night where he works.

The first time they talk, danger interrupts them and then it's game on. While on the run from the bad guys, trying to figure out who is the bad guys and new jobs all the while falling in love makes this a very fast paced book.
