When a masked girl throws herself at Shawn Finch at a costume party, the hotshot football player assumes she’s just another girl trying to get his attention. Except she’s not just any girl. She’s his Cinderella, the nameless girl in the pale blue dress who got away.
Desperate to find her, Finch searches for his mystery girl with no luck. So, it must be fate when Finch’s grade point average drops and the school assigns him a tutor not knowing they just handed over his Cinderella.
After having a crush on Finch since the first time she spotted him on campus, one kiss was all she’d ever wanted. But Finch has other plans once he discovers the truth about his tutor.

I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of this cute little spin on a modern day Cinderella story. Complete with the evil step mother, two mean-girl step sisters and a "fairy Godmother" .
Ella (see what she did there) was sweet, smart and meek. She let the step mother/step sisters torture her for years because she felt she had no place else to go. I couldn't help but think "what the heck, get away from these psychos", but it's a spin on the fairy tale so that IS the story. I love that she let loose one night and sought out the hero, who she has crushed on for a couple years. However, in true Cinderella fashion, she ran off and left him longing for her.
Finch was a sweetie. Once he had a taste of "the mystery girl" there was no one else for him. He had an all out search for her. He was so loving and patient with Ella. While he had a reputation as a ladies man, I don't think he was as bad as people thought. There was no past hook ups in the heroines face, which was nice. I hate that she was crushing on him and knew his reputation though.
- no cheating - no ow/om drama - no pushing away BUT the actually coming together took a while and if you're looking for a lot of steam, there isn't much to mention until about the 80% mark. -no violence -just ok epilogue. It was very cute but I just need a better look into their future.
Such a sweet modern day twist to one of my favorite classics. This is one of my favorite books by Jillian, it was just so cute.
Ella has had a unrequited crush on Shawn Finch since her freshman year of college but, is convinced he could never feel the same because she’s the loner nerd and he’s one of the hottest footballers on campus until one night she’s determined to get a kiss from him at a masquerade party unfortunately for her, her evil step sisters ruin her plans until a “stranger” steps into help.
I wanted to throat punch Natasha and Anastasia throughout the entire book and her stepmother Clarissa was beyond horrible.
I loved Ella, so sweet, kind and refreshing. And Shawn was just so perfect. From the second he met his masked beauty at the party he was on a mission to find her and the way he treated and cared for Ella was just incredible.
I voluntarily reviewed a advanced readers copy of this book
Oh, I liked this book so much! Finally, I can rate a book with 5 stars after a while! So... the first thing I noticed. It seems like the author liked The Great Gatsby way too much because the book was mentioned twice in the story and the main female character was named Ella Fitzgerald. What a coincidence, right? What I can say is that this book was a dirty version of Cinderella. And I didn’t mind at all! All those hot words were a nice touch to the original story. And not only the words, but the action too. I missed reading about being a student in a university and especially about a rich girl! Usually, the male is rich. But this time it was all different. I really have no idea why this book has such a low rating scale. Because it deserves so much more... I really felt like Ella and Shawn had a beautiful story. Even tho is was inspired from Cinderella. But still... it was a 5 stars read for me.
This was my first book by Jillian Quinn and I really really enjoyed it.
Chasing Ella is a fairy-tale retelling of Cinderella.. <3 <3 <3
We all know the story and the story goes exactly as the fairytale except for a few changes and much more romance and modern day challenges. Ella was a very strong character since she has been suffering through the hands of her evil step mother and 2 evil stepsisters.
Shawn Finch is our Prince Charming, and he truly is a Prince Charming...!! He is not the rich asshole guy, but he works hard for his scholarships and is the sweetest and the hottest guy ever. I was so glad that not all the importance was given to him based on his hotness. He was very sensitive and understanding and tried to support Ella as much as he could, given their situations.
I had a lot of fun reading this book. It is a very quick read. And you are rooting for this couple from the very beginning, up until the end..!!
A little way too much like Cinderella for me to really like this book. Some of the things that happened to Ella were just OTT for my taste. I kept thinking to myself --- "Come on girl, you're 21 going 22. You shouldn't be putting up with this crap." I found myself more intrigued with the other characters in the book and I want to hunt up their stories.
{I received this as an ARC in exchange for an Honest Review}
It was only supposed to be one kiss but it turned into so much more.
This book is so cute! You guys Ella and Shawn are adorable and so Hot!! I Love Cinderella she is my favorite princess and I love reading books based off of her. Jillian did an amazing job with this Cinderella retailing with making it into her own and still having the best aspects of Cinderella.
Ella has always wanted Shawn Finch. Why wouldn't she is is Hot as hell. One kiss is all she wants. So in true Cinderella form she goes to the ball or in Ella's case a fraternity masquerade dance. Her plan is to find Finch and kiss him and that is what she did. One Kiss and she was done until she becomes his new tutor. She never thought she would have to spend time with the man of her dreams that gave her the best kiss of her life. She is scare to tell Shawn that she is his mystery girl. She isn't like all the people he hangs out with. She doesn't party or hang out with a lot of people. Her life consist of school and the Hell House she has to live in with her bitch stepmother and two extremely bitchy stepsisters. She has to spend the rest of the school year helping Shawn study. All the time they spend together she sees a different side to him she has always known Finch but she gets to see and fall for Shawn.
Shawn Finch sees his Cinderella and knows he must have her. One Hot make-out session at his fraternity masquerade party and she is gone. He has to find her. He has never felt anything like what he feels for her before. He looks for her but can't find her. So he just has to focus on football. He is on the path to the NFL that is if he can pass his classes. His Coach tells him to get a tutor to pull his grades up so he does. He meets Ella. She seems special he feels a connection with her and he believes she could be his mystery girl. He isn't certain so he doesn't say anything. He can feel himself falling for Ella the more time he spends with her. Has he found his Cinderella? He believes so.
Everything about this book was amazing!! Ella's troubles with her Step-family was well written and it makes you so angry for Ella but Courage is amazing. Her "Fairy Godmother" is the best I just love her! All the little details that tied in Cinderella were my favorite! Shawn and Ella are so adorable. I Love their relationship and how it grows! It is so amazing. This book is so GOOD!! READ IT!!! READ IT!!!! READ IT!!!!!
You get to see a lot of the characters from Jillian's other books and it was so exciting! I love Jillian's books and characters so much so seeing them made me so happy! If you haven't tried them yet then I definitely recommend you do!
True or False... You want to pick up this book.....True!
I can’t tell you how much I love fairytale re-telling’s. Especially in this modern day life. Chasing Ella gives you all that, the Cinderella fairytale feels but the sexiness that comes with our modern day lifestyle.
Ella was the perfect Cinderella, she was so sweet and vulnerable. After being invited to a frat house masquerade party, she decides she is going to let loose since her identify will be hidden. She might finally get to kiss Shawn Finch, the popular football player she has had a crush on forever. After achieving her goal though, she would have never guessed that Finch would want to desperately find her and make her his happily ever-after.
This might be hard to believe since I have swooned over every single one of Jillian Quinn’s male characters, but ladies I think Shawn Finch has won my reading heart! He is the true definition of your modern day prince charming and I absolutely adored him.
“Being this close to him could be deadly for me. He does things to my body that I have yet to comprehend. Until Finch, I was never that interested in the boys at school. But Finch is all man.”
Everything about this book was done so well! Ella and her sweet but sassy ways. Her evil step-mother and step-sisters. Oh my gosh, don’t even get me started on those girls, I wanted to jump right into those pages and pull their hair out. I can’t help it though, I was feeding off all the drama between them.
Ella herself was an amazing character. I’m so used to head strong, sassy as can be female characters when it comes to Jillian’s books. I’m happy to say that she really switched it up with this one! Don’t get me wrong though, Ella still had some sass hidden underneath her shyness and structured life but she had this sweetness that you were just drawn too and I loved that about her.
“I didn’t care that we were in a library or that she was my tutor. I wasn’t about to lose my Cinderella all over again.”
If you love fairytales then you really need to read Chasing Ella. My heart was swooning like crazy and I couldn’t stop smiling. It gets your blood pressure pumping when it comes to that evil step-family of Ella’s. Plus, to top it all off it even has some of the heart beating faster sexiness we enjoy. It has everything and defiantly needs to be in the hands of my romance lovers!
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
CHASING ELLA is a beautiful modern retelling of my all-time favorite fairytale, Cinderella. This is about a nerdy College student, Ella, and a popular frat boy and football player, Shawn.
The first ever book I've read when I was four years old was Cinderella. I was so in love with this book that I always carried it in my bag all throughout nursery and kindergarten, even if I've also read other fairy tales. So, now, as an adult, I have a particular sense of protectiveness about Cinderella and all their new versions or twists in romance novels. And I have to say that CHASING ELLA did not disappoint. In fact, I loved this book so much! This modern fairytale was so beautifully written, swoon-worthy and exciting, and very sweet and romantic, just how a Cinderella story should be. This is the first book I've read from this author. And I can say that I am her newest fan because she won my heart with this book.
I'm excited to read the future standalones under the Love Ever After Series and her other books.
I have read an advanced copy of this book and this is a fair and honest review and recommendation voluntarily shared.
Jillian Quinn (another new to me author) took the Cinderella fairytale and gave it a modern twist in a full length novel... and I gotta say she did a beautiful job with every word she wrote.
Chasing Ella was a sweet romance with dashes of sexy that had me swooning, smiling, giggling, and falling head over heels in love. This book was quite captivating, more so than I expected it to be and a few times I found myself getting lost between the pages.
One kiss and one moment changes everything. She got what she wanted from her real life Prince charming, even if he doesn't know who she is and it was only a kiss. And he, well he found his forever and he's going to find his princess and claim her.
Just when all hope seems lost, their paths cross again. And when her secret is revealed, it's going to be a beautiful happy ending, with a complication or two along the way.
If you love the idea of fairytales then read this beauty!
I want to first say, that I loved the dedication of this book, so sweet. Second, I absolutely adored this book, refreshingly sweet. This was a great modern spin on Cinderella.
Ella has a huge crush on Shawn, who is one of the well known football players. They have a steamy kiss together at a party, with a little help from her neighbor. After she runs out, Shawn tries to find her...and he seems a tad crazy to his friends. Ella is a tutor and she ends up tutoring Shawn, their sweet chemistry is like a breath of fresh air. He thinks she's the girl he's been searching for, but doesn't know for sure. He starts to ride the busses home with her every night so that they can spend time together, because her step mom won't let her do anything extra....que the evil laugh (sorry, couldn't resist).
This was my first book by Jillian Quinn and I adored it. Sweet and refreshing safe read, with an epilogue that I loved. Shawn and Ella are definitely relationship goals all the way. This is a feel good read that you don't want to miss. The refreshingly sweetness is very real.
This was definitely a nice retelling of Cinderella. It was wonderful and interesting to read about Ella and Shawn.
Cinderella is a story that everyone knows and everything was pretty much expected from the story but that doesn't take away the sweetness no matter how many times you read it.
This was a modern day age version of Cinderella and it was cute and wonderful <3
Someday My Finch Will Come... Okay, wrong fairy tale, but seriously Shawn Finch is the sweetest and most lovable book boyfriend that I’ve read in a very long time. I would love to ride off into the sunset with this man. On a bus. I mean, who does that? He’s amazing. 3 buses each way! Swoon!
Once upon a time there was a smart, beautiful girl named Ella. She lived with her evil stepmother and stepsisters and while they squandered the last of Ella’s father’s fortune, Ella waited on them hand and foot. Her escape from the Hell House was school. Lucky to be attending Strickland U, she worked hard to stay on the honor roll and tutored other students to help pay for her tuition.
In a not so far away frat house, on the very same campus, lived a man named Shawn Finch. He’s a player both on and off of the football field and has spent more time partying than studying since starting college. Deep down though, Finch is a mama’s boy with a great big heart and the burning desire to find ‘the one’, now that he’s had ‘the rest’.
Our fair Ella had one chance to make a lasting impression on her long time crush Shawn Finch and wow did she achieve that goal. They shared a magical kiss at the masquerade party and then she vanished before he got to know her name. Finch became obsessed with tracking down the mystery girl, because he felt in his heart that their connection was the stuff of happy endings. Ella however, wanted to remain hidden from the spotlight.
When fate threw Ella and Shawn together as study partners, the electricity between them sizzled and they quickly and quietly developed a strong friendship. As they became closer, Shawn stayed silent about his suspicions. He was sure he’d found his mystery woman.
He thought he’d found the girl of his dreams, but she’s trapped in a living nightmare. How can they possibly have a relationship when so many evil forces are working against them?
This romance was college romance perfection. Jocks, nerds, mean girls, frat parties, old friends and new loves. Not to mention a beautiful happy ending!
Fun and sexy twist on one of my all-time favourite fairy tales!
Not only did I enjoy this story, I loved it. Modern day Cinderella and it was so good. Evil stepmother and stepsisters take over Ella's home after her father dies. Clarissa (evil stepmother) sells everything and even Ella's car and buy's what ever she wants and gives Anastasia and Natasha new cars. Ella is expected to keep house and yard care up and for this her college fees are taken care of and she receives a small stipend also for school. To make a bit of money she also tutor's students with failing grades. Ella doesn't know who her next student assignment will be and when she reads who is to be her next tutor student is she wants to vomit but she also knows that this will get her even closer to what she wants in the end. Shawn Finch, the hot college athlete, is in need of a tutor he has to get his grades up or he will loose his scholarship and be kicked off the football team. His goal is to be in the NFL, so when he's assigned to Ella, he recognizes that there is something familiar about her, but he just can't figure it out what it is...
I love to read modernized fairy tale stories and this did not fail me. It was one of the best ones yet that I have read.
I received an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Chasing Ella is a fairy-tale retelling of Cinderella.
We all know the classic story of Cinderella right? Chasing Ella goes exactly like that story just with a more steamy romance and modern day challenges.
When I finished this book last night I immediately got on Goodreads and gave it 5 stars however, after I slept on it and thought about it some more today I decided to give it 4 stars for a few reasons.
This is a case of insta love and you all know by now that I have no problem with insta love so long as it is done right. In this case it wasn’t done wrong there was just something off about it a little. I know this probably doesn’t make sense just bare with me while I try to explain. With Ella her love of Finch was very believable right from the beginning. It was Finch who I had a hard time believing at first. I can’t really say what made me feel this way but his initial meeting of Ella at the masquerade party when he chases after her and the stuff he was saying I don’t know it just didn’t come across as believable to begin with. The further into the book you get though the more believable it gets.
Also I wish there was more of the evil stepmother. Don’t get me wrong she obviously plays a significant role in the store I just wanted more of her evilness especially toward the end of the book.
Aside from those two things I really enjoyed reading this. I think Jill did an amazing job at portraying the characters. You know what characters you are supposed to love and which ones you are supposed to hate. You will definitely find yourself having strong feelings towards certain characters.
I loved how this is a retelling of a fairy-tale geared toward adults. You get your sexy time although not as much as some of her other books but I still loved it.
I say this every time I read one of Jillian’s books but I absolutely love how characters from her other books always play a part in every book.
Once I finished the book I thought the romance was super cute. This is a definite read for all of you romance lovers out there.
Ella Fitzgerald lives with her evil step-mother, Clarissa, and step-sisters, Anastasia and Natasha. Since her father died she has no freedom and is forced to live under her step-mothers control until she is able to graduate from Strickland University. She has had a crush on football star Shawn Finch for years but knows he is out of her reach.
Shawn Finch plays football for Strickland University but the star player is in trouble unless he gets his grades up. Unlike most of the students that attend the University Shawn does not come from money and knows that football is the only way he will be able to make something for himself.
When Ella sneaks out to a masked ball with help from her next door neighbor, Mrs. Katherine Feighry, she catches the attention of Shawn. But Ella leaves before Shawn discovers who she is. Soon Ella finds herself tutoring Shawn but will he discover who she really is?
Can Ella find a way to escape from her evil step-mother and be able to be with Shawn?
I really enjoyed this twist on Cinderella!
I felt super bad for Ella and understood why she had to wait until she graduated to leave but it was very difficult to see what she was going through. Her step-mother definitely hated her and I do think that she was probably only with Ella's dad for the money. Ella was smart and I knew once she got out she'd be okay.
Shawn was great in that he was not the type of "Prince Charming" that you initially expected as he didn't come from money and really needed to get his grades up to make something of himself. I loved the way he protected Ella, even before he figured everything out. He treated Ella well and wanted to be able to take care of her.
I loved Mrs. F - the next door neighbor and loved how everything came about with her!! She was awesome!
The ending was awesome and even though I knew how it would all turn out I really enjoyed the story!
I know many have stated that this was a modern twist on the classic Cinderella and I have to say that for the main part I would have to agree but please don’t get hung up on that because this is so much more than that, it is thoroughly modern and refreshing. Swann is the college football superstar and Ella is the shy but clever student that isn’t even anywhere near being a member of his social circle but when they end up at the same party and are almost goaded into sharing a kiss, their lives suddenly have become forever entwinned. The second their lips part, there is a feeling that this I just the start of something special…just one slight problem and that is the fact that she vanishes as soon as she is out of his arms and he has no idea how to track her down…are you seeing the resemblance with the famous fable now! Well, he sets his stall out and despite how demented his friends seem to think he is, he resigns himself to the fact that no matter what, he is going to track her down…but can he! Or should I say will he actually have to try too hard? Because when he arrives to meet his Chemistry tutor he can’t help but feel that they have met before …could she may be the one he has been searching for? I loved their connection, and I also thought that the plotline nods that the author gave to the Cinderella story was enchanting, and I have to say that I loved the fact that I got my villain too (not totally horrid but enough to have my heckles rising!) Ella’s mother was so malicious, seriously restricted Ella and that narked me because I knew that she was impacting the grown of a relationship that had the potential to be something totally glorious. I don’t think it is possible not to adore this story, it gave me the perfect excuse for a delicious duvet day with my own very modern fairy-tale.
This is a modern day retelling of Cinderella. Ella has had this huge crush on Shawn Finch since she was a freshman in college but doesn’t think he could ever see her because he is this super jock while she is this super nerd. But one night she’s determined to get a kiss from him at this masquerade party unfortunately for her, her super evil step sisters ruin her plans until a “stranger” steps into help. Her step sisters are just pure evil and have made her life a misery and then add the step mother- oh this poor girl has had nothing but pain and misery in her life, especially since her father died. Ella thought her one kiss would be all she would need but then when she was assigned as Shawn’s tutor. oh my! Poor Ella didn’t know what to do. Here is this great guy who is everything she could ever want and she is his tutor. Dare she tell him that she was the masked Cinderella at the party? What will happen if she does? Shawn is her true prince Charming but will everything fall apart if she admits to being Cinderella? Will she help Shawn or fail Shawn… this is a charming college story about two souls who connect. It’s a modern day retelling of Cinderella with some hot and steamy sex scenes that I liked. I cannot wait to see what is next in this series.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
I have discovered that I love retellings so I was actually quite excited to read this one, luckily it didn’t disappoint. a modern day
In case you didn’t catch it, this is a modern-day version of Cinderella, it has all the elements that keep the original story alive, the evil stepmother and stepsisters, meeting at a party and her disappearing leaving “prince charming” wanting more, the search for the mystery girl and even a fairy godmother of sorts.
The mix of the original story with Ella and Shawn’s university life was good, whilst you already have an idea of how the story plays out it was nice to see how the elements fit in around their lifestyle.
I really liked Ella, she was positive and sweet considering the situation she was in, and I liked that she was so focused on her goals but also had this spontaneous side that Shawn seemed to pull out of her.
Shawn was a good match for her, whilst it’s hinted at that he was a ladies man, I liked that he didn’t live up to that. He was very caring and considerate and not what I was expecting. Shawn and Ella were definitely a good match.
This was an enjoyable and easy read with lovely characters and any fans of Jillian Quinn will certainly like getting to revisit some of the characters from her other books.
I really enjoyed this modern day Cinderella story , chasing Ella drew me in to were I was hooked waiting to see what was going to happen . I'd highly suggest that you read roughing it's first not mandatory but the couple in it are mentioned , Shawn and Ella are well written hero and heroine they deserved one another , we get a lovely neighbor with a secret , and of course the evil step mother and her little demon children are vicious the perfect villains . The first meeting between Shawn and Ella is electric it was hard for them to fight the pool towards each other so they went all in until it was time to leave and Ella left something behind besides a breathless kiss . I felt so bad for Ella the loss of the ones she loves and then being left to such cruel people just broke my heart she's smart , funny , determined , and once she brakes out of her shell she became very outgoing . Shawn is just yummy at first I didn't know what to think of him but once he sets his eyes on the heroine he was all about her , beautiful relationship with his mom and he was supper swoony . I can't wait to read whats next for Jillian Quinn this wouldn't be my first read by her and I plan on it not being my last . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero = 10 heroine = 10 secondary characters = 10 Chemistry = 10 steam = 7 romance = 9 humor = 4 darkness level = 6 enjoyment =10 angst = 4 action = 3 mystery = 4 story line = 10 Story ending = 10 character development = 10 pacing = 10 Plot = 10 cover = 10 stars = 5 author = 10 would I recommend this book = yes would I re read this book = yes would I read future books by this author = yes
Ella is living the nightmare not the fairytale. She lives with her stepmother and stepsisters but she is more maid than family. While they spend all the family’s money she tutors so that she will be able to pay for her tuition at Strickland University and dreams of her Prince Charming Shawn.
Shawn is a star football player and he can have any girl he wants however he is getting tired of the one night stands and wants to find his princess.
A masquerade ball has Ella dressed in a blue gown and she shares a magic kiss with Shawn but she disappears without a trace. With his grades slipping he is in danger of losing his place on the football team so he hires a tutor who happens to be Ella. From the moment they reconnect Shawn feels the same draw to her that he felt for his mystery girl but he couldn’t have found her could he?
I loved this modern retelling of Cinderella. Shawn is a true prince as once he found his princess all he wanted with their happy ever after and Ella is the sweet princess who only thinks of others. I love all of this author’s books but I think this may be my favorite. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
Jillian Quinn gives us a very spot on modern day representation of Cinderella; Ella living a life of servitude, but allowed to attend college, treated like a second class citizen in her own home by her step-mother and step-sisters. Getting that one chance to go out and pretend to be someone else, just for one night, Ella jumps at this chance. With a little help from her helpful neighbor, Ella makes it just in time to turn Shawn Finch's head. Ella, of course, has to run out as midnight is curfew and leaves Shawn wondering what happened and with the need to see her again. When Ella is assigned as Shawn's tutor, will she be able to keep hidden the truth of the mystery girl that he has been searching for? When he finds out the truth of who she is, will he still want the mystery girl?
So for me this was just an ok read. There was a bit of drama, some ok sexy times, and towards the end it seemed to rush a bit. I give this 3.5 stars.
What a light hearted, sweet modern fairy tale! Jillian Quinn is the queen of modern fairy tales and this CinderELLA story is just one example.
Ella is at the mercy of her stepmother and two stepsisters who truly are portrayed as every bit as evil as the original tale..or worse! Mrs F, her neighbour, is a true delight and helps when it is most needed. Shawn is a big brawny footballer who is failing the academic side of college until Ella tutors him.
The chemistry between the two lead characters is not only intense but it is sweet at the same time. I really enjoyed the fun banter between the two of them as well. Both characters are able to be honest with themselves creating a more real-life situation where you get to know them more intimately, as well as really admire them both.
This is a happy ever after of course but there are loads of happenings in between the beginning and the end!
I really enjoyed this book! Ella is a girl you can't help but love, she's struggling so hard to bite her tongue when her step-bitch mother and step sister ordering her around her own house. Finch is the football player that is just trying to make it through college until he's picked up by the draft, hopefully. Ella has had a crush on Finch, like every other girl on campus, and her one chance to meet him is at the masquerade party thrown by his frat. Finch is enchanted by the mysterious girl in the blue dress and gets her separated from the party, perfect, well until his roommates stumbled in on them and scared her off leaving on a charm necklace as a clue. Ella finds out she's Finch's tutor, now can she keep her secret as he shows interest in her? Throw in a neighbor that likes to play fairy godmother and this becomes a modern day Cinderella tale.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I absolutely love fairytales and Cinderella is my all-time favorite and I loved the spin that Jillian put on this story to bring it into the present day. Shawn is hot, sweet, charming and knows how to treat women. Ella, beautiful, sweet and loving, unlike her step-mother and step-siblings. They have everything and share nothing with Ella, Ella give them everything and when is it going to be her time? When will she find her prince charming? I don’t think she really has to look to far. Loved this book, Jillian has such an amazing way of taking her thoughts and ideas and putting them down on paper and weaving them expertly into the stories they are today. Brilliant written, characters are spot on and I fell in love with both of them. Highly recommend this book, #1clickit now!!
I voluntarily received an ARC for an honest review. Alright I know that if you're reading the reviews, you're unsure if you want to read another spin on the classic tale of Cinderella. I'm hear to tell you that like many others I've already read this year, Jillian Quinn has put her own spin on it, and you don't want to miss out on this fabulous story!! You'll be sighing wishing that one day your prince will come or in this case your very own Shawn Finch!! Jillian Quinn has upped the standards for future boyfriends for this girl!! Pick this book up today!! You won't regret it!! Ella has the standard evil stepmother and stepsisters. They have a taste for designer clothing, pushing Ella around, and the usual nastiness to others. Ella gets invited to a Frat masquerade party by her friend Tori. She plans to use that as an opportunity to kiss Shawn. I don't want to give away anything I shouldn't, so pick it up for yourself!!
*Chasing Ella, by Jillian Quinn. It's my first book by Quinn, and I liked it. I thought it was sweet and cute.
Chasing Ella is a modern twist of Cinderella. It's well written. Very well developed characters. Ella Fitzgerald and Shawn Finch are a match made in heaven! So cute when they explore each other and what they feel.
"My mother was right. She's always right. Just one look is all it takes to feel that connection to this strange girl."
One of the few problems I have with this story is that Ella is a very smart girl. And she knows Shawn is a player...or was. They talk about that a lot, and that's fine. But when the time is to...seal the deal..they are not using protection. Don't even talk about it... I know some authors think it's ruining the story...but it's all about how they write it... And the lovebirds talk about anything, so why not about protection?
I thank the author for providing a copy to voluntarily review.

Everyone loves a good fairy tale. Every little girl dreams of Prince charming. Here we have a modern retelling with all the important things we remember - evil stepmother and sisters, charming handsome guy, fairy god mother, a ball and a pretty gown... Oh my gosh I love Finch. I've wondered about him through a few of Jillian's previous books and was super excited to get his story. And she didn't disappoint. Finch is a hot football player needing help with classes. Ella is the shy smart girl with a long loved crush. The way this story develops is amazing and oh so sweet. Absolutely loved it!!!
Let me just start by saying that fairy tales retold or reimagined are definitely a favorite of mine, so I knew going in that I was going to love this book. I just didn't know HOW MUCH I was going to love this book!! Jillian knocked this out of the park, went back and got the ball, and then knocked it out again!!!!!! It was amazing! Shawn and Ella were on fire together from the very beginning. I absolutely loved that being a part of the popular crowd and having no shortage of girls around doesn't go to Shawn's head. He wasn't the arrogant douchebag that you'd expect him to be once Ella makes her appearance. He makes a fool of himself trying to find his Cinderella and goes above and beyond for her once he does. It made my heart melt for him!! Ella is fierce too! In true Cinderella fashion, she has this super crappy home life, but she comes to life around Shawn. She becomes one of the sassy, strong women that are frequently found in Jillian's books and gives him a run for his money!
My favorite part about this book and all of Jillian's books is how they are interconnected. Just the mention of a character you're already familiar with makes you realize that they all exist within the same world and makes you feel like you're part of something special. If this is your first book by Jillian I highly suggest you read the others so you can get a feel for what I'm talking about.
Overall, this book is amazing. You get all the fairy tale feels with a little spiciness mixed in...just how I like it!
You couldn't ask for a more fairytale to life Cinderella story than this. This book was just outstanding. Once I started reading it I was sucked into the story of Ella Fitzgerald and her prince Shawn Finch and the evil B Mother and her evil step sisters. This story just flowed smoothly and the characters you couldn't help falling in love with them and hoping they would get their HEA. Such a wonderful story of a fairytale brought to life. Maybe that's why little girl's believe in fairytales, because of stories like this.
This is most definitely a must read.
