The Guardians are back and Destined to Crave is the first new smoking hot novella from the Descended of Guardians Series! The Descended Guardians is a spin off from the Guardians of the Realms. If you are a fan of Setta Jay's The Guardians of the Realms or if you are looking for a new paranormal series to dive into than this is the read for you!

Too young to bond, they continue their friendship and find great comfort in each other. Lucy is older than Ryker so she decides for both of them that they need to wait a significant amount of time to complete their bond. Hoping that Ryker will take the time to explore and live his life before he is bonded to Lucy, she leaves him and forbids him from approaching her until a decade has passed. The pain they both feel from their separation is unbearable, and when Ryker is faced with a dangerous threat, Lucy is left vulnerable. Is the mating bond strong enough to bring them together and give them the strength they need to survive?

I adore the Guardians and to have the opportunity to rejoin this fantastical world and have a glimpse into the lives of their children is beyond spectacular! The Guardians are passionate creatures, and the bonds they share with each other and their mates are full of fierce protectiveness over the ones they love and each other. The unique powers and gifts they each possess makes each interaction and battle distinct. The Guardians world is complex and although the history of the relationships between the characters is in depth, I find that Ms. Jay offers plenty of background with each installment making it possible to read each book as a standalone and enjoy every single moment! Ryker and Lucy's story was full of smoking hot steam and beautiful romance. My only complaint is that it had to come to an end.

Overall, I have long been a fan Setta Jay's work and I truly cannot contain my excitement over another magical series with the children of the Guardians! I have no doubt more greatness is to come!

4.5 can’t fight destiny stars
Honestly do I need to say more, that picture sums up every yummy detail of this book. I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled I am that there is a spin off from the Guardians of the Realms series. I fell hard and fast in lust with those alpha-luscious Guardians and there was not a damn thing I could do about it. The entire series was erotically charged, fantasy driven and an all encompassing story line that tied all the series together. So to have a spin off, based off of their world, with their spawn, holy hell… I’m in heaven. What better way to kick off the Descended’s than that of Hades, after all he secretly was my favorite.
Rykr and Lucy were destined from the start, but fate had a different path for them and made them work for their HEA. Rykr is as powerful as they come and Lucy being the eldest is a natural born protector, both set on the mindset of thinking of what is best for the other with out truly talking things out. But what they can’t share with words, their body makes up for it ten-fold, and they have no choice but to let their cravings take over and destiny lead the way.
Setta Jay is an auto read for me, there is not question about it, I find myself constantly checking for new reads like a junkie because I crave her stories. She has managed to deliver some of my favorite genre’s all in one and blend it in a way where it all makes sense. I can’t wait for more in this world. Truly enjoyed re-visiting with the Guardian’s and I highly recommend it for my fantasy erotic friends out there.

I absolutely loved the Guardians of the Realms series. It’s HOT! While it’s extremely HOT, it’s also riveting, exciting and enthralling. When the wonderful Setta Jay finished the series I was a little distraught. There’s something about these men and women that you can’t help but love. It may have a wee bit to do with their HOTTNESS, but it also has a lot to do with their growly possessiveness, determination to save the world and single-minded focus. But deep down I know it has a lot to do with how HOT these stories are.
Anyways, when Setta Jay announced that she’d give into our demands and grant us more, I was delighted. We get to catch up with the oldies and meet their offspring. At first, I had this weird little thought. Hmmm…I’ve seen your parents “getting it on”. Is that like knowing your parents have had sex 3 times (I have 2 siblings)? What made it even weirder was I kept thinking – Your parents know what you are doing right now, aren’t you embarrassed? It’s also not a secret as to how intense and kinky it can get. [BLUSHING] Thank goodness it’s paranormal/fantasy and not real. The idea of my parents knowing what hubby and I do in the bedroom makes me SHUDDER.
So, Destined to Crave was as HOT as what I was hoping for. Lucy has known nearly her whole life that Rykr is her mate. She’s a couple of years older than him so she reaches her maturity ahead of him and worries that she can’t be around him until he matures. Deciding what’s best for them, she tells him that they can’t see each other until he has “lived” for awhile. This, of course, means that they both suffer being apart.
Lucy’s silly decision ended up being for the best. Not because Lucy's decision was the right one, it's just that Rykr has an ISSUE he wants to be dealt with first. Rykr has demons that he knows need to be gone before he can truly be happy.
They should have trusted fate and each other. How unusual for a Guardian, their stubbornness made them suffer unnecessarily.
I kind of wanted more. It’s a novella/short story and does still pack a wallop but I wanted to know more. Do the kids get squicked out by how intense the relationship is, between their parents? Does the manor have sound-proof walls? Did the kids accidentally catch their parents doing the dirty, regularly? How does it feel KNOWING that you have a mate that is going to satisfy all your needs?
I can honestly say that Setta Jay has the remarkable ability to make me own how fascinating I find all this kinky stuff. There aren’t too many reviews where I admit to that, so it’s saying a lot.
I enjoyed Destined to Crave and I can’t wait for more.

Oh YUM.
Setta Jay's Guardians of the Realms series has been a guilty pleasure of mine for years. A well crafted, erotically charged PNR that hooked me from the first and kept me riveted until the end. When I saw she'll be coming out with a spin-off series, I was thrilled. And now that I read it, I'm already craving more!
Destined To Crave is a short, but extremely satisfying novella that sets the scene for her brand new Descended of Guardians series which, you guessed it, features the kids of the couples from the previous books. We get a well crafted set up and intro to most of the characters and a main couple that will melt your e-reader with their sizzling chemistry.
This is also a great opportunity for new readers to discover this fantastic author, because while it doesn't hurt to read the previous series, it's certainly not necessary to enjoy this one. You get all the back stories and the characters are unique and don't much piggy back of the stories of their parents.
Rykr and Lucy were amazing together. This book was hot, entertaining, and addicting. My only quibble is I wished for more, but that's always my complaint with novellas from favorite authors. I'm hooked, line and sinker and can't wait for more in this series! If you like erotic PNR, then you definitely want to check this one out!

You get the same magic as the previous books, but with a renewed sense of order and importance on the younger generation. It also brings about new mystery and evil in need of solving and salvation. I am wholly intrigued for what’s to come in the series.
Delivered with a sensuality that has become a hallmark in Setta Jay’s writing, Destined to Crave is a 5 star kick off to the Descended of Guardians series.

This book was hella intense... hella sexy... hella interesting... and hella fun!
When Rykr was 15 and Lucy was almost 20, they already knew they were destined to be mates. However, Lucy, being the eldest, thought she knew best and thought that before being tied to her forever, Rykr should have the chance to live with some freedom. She thought he should have the opportunity to experience life before settling down. She was reasonable, thoughtful and considerate. She broke both their hearts doing it but forbade him from claiming her for ten years!
Fast forward and we're almost at the deadline. The love that Rykr and Lucy shared never dulled but he seems to be in no hurry to claim her. Little does she know that Rykr has been tormented all these years and despite his desperation to be with her, he refuses to expose her to the agony he has had to face. These two constantly thought they knew what was best for the other and Lucy was over it. If he won't come to her, she's going to him and she won't be walking away without her man.
Destined to Crave gave me the chance to fall in love with these characters, the world they live in, the magic of this story, and the incredible heat. Erotic is an understatement. I'm so in love that I'm going back to the beginning. I've already one-clicked Ecstasy Unbound to meet everyone properly and become slightly obsessed with the series. I've found a new PNR author to stalk!

I loved the Guardians of the Realms series and I'm freakin' excited to see that the author is extending the series to the children!
Setta Jay created such a unique world around these characters and their reason for existence that it's become one of my favorite Fantasy series. Add in the fact that I absolutely love her Alpha's, then it's easy to say I highly recommend both the Guardians of the Realms series and this new Descended of Guarians series.
I got such a kick out of seeing the fatherly side of Gregoire. His little girl, Lucy is all grown up. She played such a big role in the conclusion of the Guardians of the Realms that I'm happy to see her get her happily ever after with Rykr.
Rykr is every bit like his father, Pothos and grandfather, Hades and yet unique unto himself. I'm intrigued by this new threat this series brings. It almost seems like the bad guy isn't really a bad guy so I'm so curious where this is going.
These two made for a kickass pair! I can't wait to see which mated pair Setta Jay brings us next! ARC provided by Author.

The children of the Guardians are all grown up….
What new threats await them as they find their true mates…
Ever since the end of The Guardians of the Realms series and the announcement that Ms. Jay planned to write a spin-off series which featured the children from those matings. I’ve been ecstatic and waiting eagerly.
I’ve been a fan of Ms. Jay’s from the begging when she popped on the scene with her very fist book Ecstasy Unbound and each installment then after in The Guardians of the Realms series. This spin-off carries all the wonderful things that capture me. The writing is full of passion, romance, and action. The plot is intriguing, the mythology is cool, and our couples set the sheets on fire.
This couple has a beautiful romance. Lucy and Ryker are two of the children of the Guardians and they discovered at a young age that they are mates. Too young to bond, but they still ended up having a great friendship until they where pulled apart. I felt for both Lucy and Ryker. The loneliness of their separation and then the danger that has claimed Ryker.
I completely adored return to the Guardian world, seeing old favorites, and meeting the children. I love how each character is distinct with their own unique powers and gifts. I liked that we get to see how the human world is coping with the realization that they where never alone. That Gods, powerful beings, and monsters do exist.
This spin-off can be read on it’s own and Ms. Jay gives enough background to pull you in and take you away, but personally I’d recommend reading The Guardians of the Realms series first and meeting the parents and friends. Though it’s not necessary.

Too young to bond, but they still ended up having a great friendship until they where pulled apart. I felt for both Lucy and Ryker. The loneliness of their separation and then the danger that has claimed Ryker.
I completely adored return to the Guardian world, seeing old favorites, and meeting the children. I love how each character is distinct with their own unique powers and gifts. I liked that we get to see how the human world is coping with the realization that they where never alone. That Gods, powerful beings, and monsters do exist.
This spin-off can be read on it’s own and Ms. Jay gives enough background to pull you in and take you away, but personally I’d recommend reading The Guardians of the Realms series first and meeting the parents and friends. Though it’s not necessary.

As a young adult, Lucy broke Rykr’s heart. She is determined to stay away from him for the next ten years when they will once again be reunited and mated. Rykr, even as a teenager, is not having it. However, when he finds himself cursed he begins a frantic race to find a solution so he can mate Lucy without sharing the pain that consumes him day and night. As their ten years come to an end, Lucy is determined to help him despite whatever the cost to herself might be.
This is a well-developed novella that clearly sets up the world these immortals share. I’m not a fan of ménage or exhibition and the only other book I read from this author had these elements. However, when I learned that this one did not, I scrambled as fast and as hard as I could to get a copy of it. I am so glad I was successful. It is a great quick read that sets this series up for future books and I can’t wait to indulge in them. Fingers crossed they won’t have some hard limits for me. Either way, so glad I was able to read this one!

This a was good start to a new series, lots of intrigue and mystery to kick us off. And lots of new characters that got introduced, though not all at once which I was grateful for cause I always suck at keeping names straight when I read about big families.
I liked Lucy and Rykr, and I liked that they pretty much loved each other since they were little. It helped with my only real issue with the book which is that it is pretty short so everything happens super fast and at times it felt a little rushed. But I still enjoyed it and I'll definitely be continuing the series cause I'm excited to see where it goes with all these new interesting characters.
Recommend reading Guardians of the Realms Series before this series for a better reading experience.

I found this novella quite entertaining. I turned the pages eagerly. There were magical beings ( some of whom had wings, gods and goddess', daemons, and humans. I felt the longing the two mc's had for each other. Some of the sex scenes were nice, although others were a little over the top for me.
All in all it was an enjoyable read for me. Some might find the raunchy sex too much. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves PNR romance mixed with a little E.L. James...

Destined to Crave is the spin-off/continuation of Setta's Guardian's of the Realm series; it is going to feature the kids of the characters from that series. Have no fear if you have not read through that series it is perfectly okay to start reading this one, there is a nice summary of the events at the beginning of the book.
Lucy and Ryker are destined mates, they have known this since puberty but Lucy is five years older than Ryker and she doesn't want him to jump into the mating as soon as he is old enough she wants him to wait five years so that he's had some freedom before being tied to her for the rest of their lives. As much as it hurts them both to be apart Ryker reluctantly agrees, but right after something happens and he's not going to claim Lucy until it's dealt with, he doesn't want her tainted with the pain he's been going through. Time passes and the five years have come and gone and Ryker still hasn't come to claim Lucy yet. She's worried and concerned something is wrong and Ryker is hiding something from her. It's not until that danger threatens Lucy that Ryker finally comes clean with Lucy and the rest of the Guardians about what happened. Ryker still thinks keeping Lucy away from him is the solution but Lucy knows they will be stronger together.
As always Setta compacts a great story, great chemistry, and sex scenes hot enough to burn your burn your fingertips all into a novella length book. I am really looking forward the the rest of the series. there is going to be one over all connecting story arc and it might be best if read in order, we will see.

Destined to Crave is most definitely a very fitting beginning to the spin off of our favorite Guardians of the Realm Series. I literally finished this in under 10 hours ( 8 of those were at work so yay me!)

Rykr and Lucy grew up together and knew right off that their mates but what do you do when the timing is just not right! Grrrr! I understood exactly where Lucy was coming from and why she did what she did.
Through all that you can still feel the love they have for each other. There is so much sexual tension, I was swooning over Ryker! Whew! was he intense and talk about over the top Devotion! Sexy times galore!
Great storyline and we have the same world we've come to love but with brand spanking new Villians and evildoers with their nefarious plans to take over the world! muahahahaha <---Evil Laughter
We also get to meet the 2nd generation and wow we have alot of good things to look forward to!

How much I enjoyed it: 5/5
My head is still reeling from all the information from the book. The novella is the first book in the series but since its a spin-off from another series, there's a lot of world building packed into it. Thankfully, only the pertinent information relating to the main couple is included with a few teasers for the next books. Because of that the plot is just nice, short and simple befitting the short story.
On to the couple, both Rykr and Lucy are destined mates staying apart for their own reasons. Its noble idoicy at its best since both have a valid reason for staying to protect the other. They only got together for the second half of the book but it didn't felt forced or awkward with lots of sneak peeks of how close they were from childhood to teenage years.
For an erotic romance, I'm really enjoying the plot and curious about what happens next in the series.

In the first spin off of the Guardians series, we meet some of the children of the Guardians and first off is the infamous Lucy, the daughter of my favorite Guardians couple - Gregoire and Allyssa (btw, if you haven't read the best IMO offering from the Guardians series, please do yourslefs a favor and hop on the actiony, steamy fun right away). Her love story might not be the epic journey of her parents, but it handsomely sets up some might be bad guys (might be feature heroes), delivers on the hotness scale and most importantly fills up the hole that the series left in my heart and kindle. As always – can’t wait for the next one!

I have not come across any of Setta Jay's books before and I feel like I am missing out on an amazing author. In the super short 150 pages I was able to feel fully invested in a giant world that is a mash of all kinds of supernatural and fantasy characters. It also feels like it is done so right. The different types of creatures that were built into the world, whether they are Gods or mermaids feel like they all belong together. I am completely serious when I say that I feel compelled to read all the books written by this author because to achieve such a strong story in a tiny little novella is impressive. Not to mention that this is book isn't even part of the main series she wrote but this is like the side series that comes from the originals. With a quick Amazon prowl if you have Kindle Unlimited it looks like the Guardians of the Realms series are mostly available to read for free. Score! I personally will be doing this once I catch up on some of my to be read pile.
Now about Destined to Crave itself. This was not a joke about it being sexually charged but the plus side it didn't feel like one of those short reads that was just writing a romp. This has an ending that leads you further down the rabbit hole wondering where the story is going to go from here. Eirykr is descended from some pretty powerful beings, like his grandfather is Hades kind of powerful. Most of the named characters that you meet are very similar. They're all strong and full of powers. Even one of the side characters in this books has some mysterious power that no one knows about really. This makes me really love to read her book if she gets one. In this collision of worlds people have mates. True mates, the one and only, the kind that you find it and its like this ridiculous pull and a mating ritual type thing. Rykr has a mate named Lucy and they actually grew up together. She even held him as a baby. Yep, she is a little older than him. Age is really nothing but a number here since these are immortal beings. They can't be together because of a curse that was put on Rykr right after Lucy banned him from her side. Now there is all this tortured arousal floating around and they can't do anything about it.
This really great short book that I feel will be actually pretty memorable to me. For me, it was an amazing introduction to a new world that I really want to get into and start reading.

Three and a half
I really enjoyed the series that spawned this book and I’m so happy that the author has found a way to return to her world full of Gods, Immortals , magic and of course volcanic romance ! This time we are getting up close and very personal with the children of the original Guardians as time has moved on and the world as we know it has changed with the reemergence of the Realms. I was a tiny bit worried that I might not enjoy the next generation but I can assure everyone that this author has still got plenty of ideas to entertain her readers and maybe even make them blush !
This couple have known each other since childhood and as they grew up together became inseparable but discovered that they were destined to become Mates which is both wonderful and disastrous. Lucy is a few years older than Rykr and whilst she was almost fully matured had realised that as a powerful Immortal she could easily fall prey to the frenzy that would drive their Mating bond. Refusing to put the boy she loves through it too young she insists they part for ten years giving Rykr freedom to experience life before being bound for eternity but things happen to Rykr that have terrible repercussions which even Hades himself cannot stop ! The couple have waited so long and yet Rykr insists they cannot be together but what if Mating is the answer to everything ?
I won’t reveal what happens because this was quite short and it feels like it’s setting up for more to come. If you have read Ecstasy Unbound or indeed any of the Guardians of the Realms series then you will know that this author loves to shock and write incendiary sex scenes that titillate her readers. These powerful, dominant characters are such fun to read about but for this reader I just found that Rykr felt much younger than her previous heroes. Perhaps that was because he interacts with his father and grandfather quite a lot or maybe it’s because there isn’t really very much action here so my impression of him just didn’t really evolve. I really did enjoy the writing and I’m overjoyed that there will be more stories about these creatures of myths and legends because nobody has a wilder imagination than Ms Jay. So not my favourite book by her but still an entertaining read that almost set my kindle on fire !

Perhaps that was because he interacts with his father and grandfather quite a lot or maybe it’s because there isn’t really very much action here so my impression of him just didn’t really evolve. I really did enjoy the writing and I’m overjoyed that there will be more stories about these creatures of myths and legends because nobody has a wilder imagination than Ms Jay. So not my favourite book by her but still an entertaining read that almost set my kindle on fire !

Well, this was definitely an interesting read and it definitely made me want to continue reading the series. Consider me intrigued.
I was quite confused sometimes, as we're thrust into a whole new world with quite a complex magic system, and I felt like I missed some kind of connection. I don't know if this was meant to be read before the series (as this is a prequel) or if you were at least supposed to have a bit of knowledge of the world beforehand.
I have read Mercenary Princess from this author before, so I already knew this author is skilled at writing hot and steamy love scenes, so it's no surprised I liked them here as well.

When Setta Jay's Guardian series ended I was left with a huge book hangover. I wanted more. This new book in her spin-off series delivered. The spin off series centers around the next generation of Guardians. The children of the Guardians are grown up and they have to help deal with new threats to their world and the Fated Mate curse. This book was a quick read but a great start and I can't wait for the next one.

I was so eager to start this after finishing the Guardians of the Realms series and it did not disappoint. Destined to Crave follows Lucy, the first child born to the Guardians, and Rykr, the son of Gefn and Pothos. The two of them knew they were mates from the time they were teens, but Lucy was adamant on waiting to complete their bond until Rykr had reached (and passed) the age of majority, which is 20.
With the darkness having been stopped, I was curious as to what the children of the Guardians were going to have to deal with. But it seems not every threat was eliminated with the Tria.
I wished this book was longer because I need more and I'm addicted! I want to know about all the Guardian kiddos because they sound seriously badass.

Regardless of its short length, Destined to Crave packed a punch. It was full of action and intrigue. The two main characters, Rykr and Lucy are destined mates. As such, they each make sacrifices that they believe will protect the other. The story was full of creativity and originality. I found it quite enjoyable.

I"m a huge fan of Setta Jay and her guardian series. EVen after I have finished it I still randomly think about it now and then. Now the Descended have a chance to shine and we are brought back into the world of the guardians. Lucy and Rykr know they are true mated pair. However being young and too young ot understand they agree to disagree to separate adn live their lives. WEll you know that is all good and said but hello how is that going to help anyone? You two were made for each other.
When Rykr is faced in danger Lucy will have to hang on. Seriously I'm not giving anything away with this one because hello who else will i have to talk to about it if you dont read it and I tell you all about it? Seriously hurry up and pick it up...>HOnestly can't wait for more.
