Kniha poskytuje velkolepý a hluboký obraz starodávného Egypta prostřednictvím jednoho z hlavních náboženských a kulturních center - města Théby.

You should know before reading who Prof. Livraga was and that this book would not attempt a purely "scientific" approach to ancient Egypt. As I did know and sought it out for that reason, I really enjoyed this book. The author takes us to Thebes with the amazement and humility of a child facing wonder. While giving historical background information, he focuses on the spiritual and mysterious aspects of life in ancient Egypt: findings that might indicate layers of life, death and meaning that our ancestors east of the Nile were aware of. If one shares a fascination with ancient Thebes as well as (Egyptian) philosophy and is open to plausible, non-scientific observations connecting history with mythology and spirituality, this is a worthwhile read.
