In the Monte Carlo of 1941, amidst a throng of drifters, escapees, undercover agents, and soldiers of various nationalities, devil-may-care American Harry Pilikian is drawn into confrontation with the Nazis
Quite entertaining. The author describes both the scenery and the characters with clarity, and manages to make you love them or hate them, depending on their alliance during the war. The ending was very strong, and you can't take a breath during the last pages, the emotions are too strong and the images very vivid.
I was surprised this had been published after the massive commercial flop of his firs novel. What sticks with me the Armenian Genocide at the beginning and the gruesome detail of the Turks' cruelty.
