“How have so many of us gotten epically messed up about food?”
In Goddesses Eat (part of The Goddess Guides to Being A Woman self-help series), International Bestselling Author Ava Miles dives into the morass of issues women have about eating and food.
Food is the fuel to our very goddess woman bodies, but many of us starve ourselves, diet constantly, binge, or subsist only on salads. We are so caught up in shame around our body image and the events in our lives, we’ve turned food into a weapon we use to hurt our very nature.
“What the heck is going on?” Ava asks. It’s time to see food as nourishment and eat like a goddess woman again. Ava encourages all women to put on their big brave and look at their eating habits and how that reflects their true feelings. “The way you treat yourself with food is an expression of your relationship with yourself and your life.” Are you ready to create a new partnership with food, goddess-style?

Wait… The following are some “important” questions readers have had about this series.
What’s the full scoop on this series? It’s everything I wish someone would have told me about being a happy, empowered woman on my own terms. I spent years struggling, trying to figure all this stuff out. I tackle the issues that trip women sex, relationships and family, money and personal success, body image, eating, self-expression, personal power, happiness, and fear. The Goddess Guides to Being a Woman encourage women of all ages to unleash their true goddess nature.
“Unleash my goddess nature?” Isn’t that a little scary? Aren’t you tired of being told what a woman should act like, think like, look like? Aren’t you tired of feeling like you’re always falling short and chasing your tail? To quote "It's time to live a happy and abundant life on our own terms, not anyone else's.” These guides help each woman decide for herself what that goddess-woman life looks like and tap into her happy, power-packed goddess nature.
Am I really going to transform into a goddess if I read these guides? That’s up to you, Young Skywalker. But I sense the force is strong with you.
Is this one of those self-important, serious motivational books? What do you think? I just made a Star Wars reference. Wonder Woman probably would have been more appropriate, right?
How long are the books? I mean, I don’t have all day. These are a short, life-changing books designed for busy women.
Is there an order to the series? Nope. You decide which topics appeal to you and what order to read in.
Can men read these guides too? Sure. Some of the information is geared towards women, but there’s a lot in the guides for everyone walking around on two legs, men included. I mean, don’t they want to be happy and empowered too?
Are these like Ava’s other bestselling series? No, these are non-fiction, but some of the guides contain short fictional stories to make key points.
Who would you say you’re most like? I’ve never heard of you. Being a goddess woman, I’d like to say I’m just me, but how about a cross between Erma Bombeck and Deepak Chopra? Just kidding. You’ll have to decide.

In Goddesses Eat, Miles takes us through the relationship we have with food and our constant struggles. I would say that my relationship with food it is far from perfect. It is a constant struggle on what is “good” for me and what I truly like and want to eat. We know of the constant changes in what we should or shouldn’t eat. This guide offers us a more reasonable look at food. It shows us to see food as nourishment. It provides guidance on how to change and have a healthier relationship with food. I like the examples of listening to our body. “The way you treat yourself with food is an expression of your relationship with yourself and your life.”

When I first read the overview of each book in this series, I knew immediately this installment was once I would want to read right away. I'll admit that my relationship with food has never been perfect, which made this even more personal for me. This is far from a diet book or nutrition guide-- as the title says, it really is about a partnership with food. I found this to be an interesting take and one that I really connected with.
I enjoyed the different stories and really appreciated the examples of listening to your body. This is something I have never quite mastered, but the different examples she gave made it more approachable and they really resonated with me. I also appreciated the discussion at the end about those who do not have access to food the same way we do. While I am obviously aware that hunger is a very important issue in the world, I'll admit that reading about it in this way served as an important reminder.
This book continues to go back to one important factor: food is nourishment. I enjoyed the author's take on feasting and will work on applying this in my everyday life. Why save the champagne for a special occasion? Today is just as good of a reason to celebrate, so break it out if that is what your body tells you.
This book provided me with a lot of important reminders as well as new takes on everyday topics and tasks. I plan on re-reading this as things come up and hope to reclaim my own partnership with food.

I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own". My favorite so far. If you are looking for a book on a new fad diet, this is not the book. As someone who has struggled with weight most of my adult life and has a negative body image, this guide provided insight on how I can change my image and learn to have a healthier relationship with food. Goddesses Eat offers us a more realistic and spiritual look at food. Food is nourishment. As a Goddess woman, we understand when, what, and why we eat. My favorite Ava Miles quote, "food is life, and life is celebration".
