This is the first "... for Dummies" that really could be written for dummies. It was incredibly simple and aimed at the complete novice.
That said, it is thorough and may be useful for someone just starting to look at their personal finances. Maybe a young couple or someone just finishing school. Also, some advice is a little dated now and I recommend getting a current-year version.
I'm just glad it came from th library and not the store.
It is never too late to learn about retirement planning. Two years out on the horizon for me and this book gave insightful and valuable guidance that will serve me well for the next 20-30 years
This is a good beginner book on the topic and it would be great used in a first course as a study guide. Covers everything in 440 pages from investing to getting out of debt to lower insurance rates it has something for anyone trying to control their money. The lack of pictures means this book is full of information which is great value for its cost. A good beginning book for getting the most from your money.
This was an interesting look at the advice people are getting out there. As a financial professional I find the advice sound for rhe most part. I always find the dislike of financial advisors interesting, but I admit I'm definitely biased. People need to know these things, and for now books like this are the only solution other than financial education.
This book is helpful for learning basic concepts and ideas but if you want to get specific about certain topics I’d recommend a different book. It is good for reinforcing information you have already learned though!
It’s a full picture guide, connecting everything together within your personal finance. You leave the conversation fully understanding the pros and cons to each topic and given prompts on where to look for specific information. It was an easy read, with tons of useful information.
Very good and easy to understand. I picked this up from local library but I think this should be a book that one owns so that they may re-read it over a few times.
Very easy to read from start to finish, excellent overview of many financial topics and offers solid advice to reference later. Good foundational text to build on.
Very helpful for learning about personal finance and some tips and tricks to make the most out of your current funds as well as investing. Good go to book for personal finances in Canada.
