Too superficial to provide a good understanding of blockchain technology.
I think I have a good background in computer science. So, I expect that, after reading this book, I would get a clear understanding of the basics of the blockchain technology. Unfortunately, I couldn't. In my opinion, the book is too superficial. For instance, it does not explain why the proof-of-work is necessary in Bitcoin. Maybe, I'm not smart enough to understand it. However, I think that is not the case. It seems more that the author had to do some compromises in order to keep the book small.
Even governments in many parts of the world are beginning to implement blockchains to manage public services and records. Estonia, for example, issues citizens cryptographically secure ID cards, managed by a blockchain, that allow access to various public services. The government of Georgia is using blockchain technology to manage land titles and validate property transactions. The UN recently completed a trial program using the Ethereum blockchain to manage distribution of food aid to 10,000 refugees.
This book is a decent, high level, brief overview of blockchain and crypto currencies. It would be better with a couple brief dives into more aspects of the currencies, such as how to buy them and spend them. How to exchange them for cash and other more practical applications. Additionally, links to other resources would have made this book far more valuable.
Although this book provides an excellent high-level overview, I was expecting more technical details regarding how blocks are decrypted using the sha256 algorithm. Otherwise this is a good introductory book to the topic.
The book is a little technical, which made it more interesting for me to read. The insights on distinction between bitcoin and ethereum is very useful.
It's a good introductory book about blockchain and not only about criptocurrency. The author do not over utilize jargon or complicate concepts. It's not for people who want a deep technical introduction to blockchain technology.
But doesn’t go into much technical details. It does motivate you to research further into this field. I guess it does serve the purpose to be a beginners guide like it says in the name :)
A very brief but great high-level introduction to blockchain as a technology. If you are confused on what exactly blockchain is, unsure of its uses outside of crypto or just looking to be a more educated part of conversations this book is the right place to start.
Short and Incomplete. Total number of bitcoins are limited is not even mentioned. Proof of Stake not sufficiently explained. Read a better book, instead
Nice introductory reading. Not to deep but acceptable as entry level. Buena lectura introductoria. No es muy profundo, pero bueno para iniciarse en el tema
