I enjoyed reading about the Lawson Family dynamic. However, I didn't like how they all threw Janae under the bus. What happened to all the love they all seemed to share for her? No one seemed happy she was alive and okay. Janae was portrayed as some weird stalker and not a woman who'd been through a horrible ordeal and was still in love with her ex. Rafe's father tells him he believes Avery is perfect for him... Avery was wishy washy and too pliable for my taste. This one wasn't a winner for me at all. I couldn't connect.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable book. Donna Hill is quite talented and I can tell why she has had such a long, successful career. Avery is a very relatable character and I found myself nodding my head in agreement quite often when she described her feelings. When I’m With You is a romance that is worth the escape for a few hours!

I wanted to love this story after reading the description and finding out it was set in New Orleans. It was generic and boring for me though. Maybe I needed to read the other books in the series because this one did not work well as a standalone. As a first time reader I felt thrown into the story halfway through while being expected to know all these details. I wanted to like Avery as she was supposed to be this strong female agent but at the halfway mark of the book I still couldn't bring myself to care about her. Meanwhile I was struggling to determine what was so great about Rafe while he subtlety flirted with other women in his place of work.

As we are taken on this journey between Avery and Rafe, where overcoming the past was necessary to enjoy the fruits of the future.
You'll appreciate the Lawson women and their dynamic range of personalities and family loyalty.

It is the author's responsibility to "write what you know." And, if you don't know the subject matter, research is called for.
The US Secret Service does not provide protection for US senators. The exception would be if a senator is a front runner for the nomination in the presidential election, the senator may request and receive Secret Service protection during that time. This was not the case in this book when the senator dismissed Avery from his detail. Official nominees and their families receive protection.
Secret Service agents make many sacrifices, as do their families. They swear an oath of office and are trained to give their lives if necessary (the agent who was shot in the stomach when he threw himself in front of Reagan in the assassination attempt). An agent experiencing the dangerous physical symptoms such as Avery's would not hide her condition to keep from having to do desk duty or endanger a protectee's life in order to gain a promotion. What were you thinking if you wanted to show your heroine as an honorable person?
Taping has not been the method of treatment for broken ribs for many years--in fact it restricts deep breathing which is important for the lungs in this treatment (additionally, the skin rips off with that tape on removal, causing excruciating pain and more bodily injury).

Enjoyed part II about Rafe, Avery and Janae.
Now if Branford and Horace could find love again.
It was really nice to catch up with Jacqueline and Raymond, Lee Ann and Preston, Quinten, Desiree and Spence, Dominique and Trevor, Justin and Bailey.
Love mystery surrounding Rafe and Janae. I thought it was someone playing a trick on Rafe. Janae had been out of Rafe's life for 16 years presumed dead. When she found after 911 under rumble she had a loss of memory and gradually remembered Rafe and no one else, her parents advised her not contact Rafe and even after her parents she still did not contact him. Upon reading about Rafe and Avery in the society page them being engaged she calls.
Avery developed head trauma after the bombing incident where she was guarding Rafe's father Branford. The head trauma continued to plaque her until she finally informed her best friend Kerry and later informed Rafe.
This is a ending to a great series and is a must read.

Great series’s, I enjoyed it and not to throw shade but there was errors in your books. In one book Lee Ann was pregnant with twins and moving out the country with her husband. In the final book you wrote that Desiree was the one pregnant and had twins. In the first book Rafe and Desiree were very close in the last two books you changed the scrip and said it was Rafe and Dom. Anyway the books were awesome. Love the way Janae loved Rafe enough to truly let him go. She have Avery the assurance she needed to know it was okay to trust the man she loved because he loved her back. They both were all in!

This book was the final installment in the Rafe and Avery love story. I must say that I was not at all impressed with this book. It was truly a struggle to finish it and I love romance novels.
The main issue was that there was no cohesiveness, the story line seemed slapped together, and the previous lover character was not developed enough. The book simply seemed rushed. I am a fan of Donna Hill's so it pains me to give this book a bad review but I have to do.

Love Rafe... Avery Girllll!
I was happy and sad when I realized my debonair and sexy Rafe would finally marry in the last book. I've followed his story and family for years now, and this story was bittersweet. Avery was his true mate in every aspect of their lives..... A treat and a delight..

Not Ready For This To Be The End
I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the Lawson family and learning all about New Orleans culture. This book was like a roller coaster ride with all the up and downs they faced in this relationship. I wouldn’t expect anything less for Rafe though. Great ending.

The Lawsons' of Louisiana is a marvelous series, to this point Dominique story was my favorite. Ms. Hill sent Rafe and Avery to hell and back as a reader I felt every hurt, bump, burn, and shock. A story which brought me to tears three different times. Read the series, they are stand alone books if nothing else read When I'm With You.

When I'M With You
It was knowledgeable to understand why Rage live his life to so many years. We now understand Avery and her father relationship. It was hard work getting these to alter. It all shaped and end beautifully.

great enjoyed it to see when you think you could never fall in love again and you do your pass love re appears. And how you think by being in love will stop you from doing your job because of the person you fell in love with is always in the news and you don't want that to effect your job.

The bad boy heir to the family fortune has finally found love and is ready to settle down. Rafe Lawson has found love after being heartbroken when he lost his first love. Secret Service Agent Avery RIchards has captured his heart and found someone that completes her. But the past and insecurity may end up derailing everything that are reaching for. A long awaited story filled with ups and downs and well worth the wait!

I had the chance to read this book over the weekend and loved it! I read this book for the Extreme Book Nerd Challenge in the category " a book with x, y, or z in the title". It was a great read about overcoming obstacles for the one you truly love. In a world where everything that can go wrong does, Rafe and Avery's love story is a wonderful one!

Super Story. Rage and Avery fighting through life's obstacles to get to that precious commodity called LOVE. The Lawsons of Louisiana series is very good. I read this installment in one day.
