This is the fourth 100-page novella, continuing the electrifying story of fan favorite characters Six and Sam. The couple may have decided to leave Peter McKenna’s covert organization, but they still have unfinished business.
Six and Sam feel responsible for Ghost, one of the young Human Garde they’d met back in New Orleans. They’re not sure why the girl turned against them in Mexico, but they are determined to track her down and get some answers. But are they chasing after a friend or a foe? And will they need to rescue her or defeat her?
When the group finally makes contact, it seems like they might be able to convince Ghost to come back to the Academy. That is until then their plans go up in flames, forcing Six and Sam to jump into action. Without any backup from McKenna or the HGA. Without their Legacies fully returned. And without a clue as to who their real enemy is.
"Everything was going to be fine, he thought as he closed his eyes."
This was so very annoying. I had such a hard time reading it, ugh, and it was because of one particular character. Max.
The plot in itself was not bad, actually really interesting. We're still following the organization and is becoming increasingly obvious that things are way more complicated than what we thought at the beginning.
It follows, in my opinion, a very natural path. Things could have been handheld better, yes, but for the amount of information they had they did a good job in working to solve the problem.
It was, as previously stated, a particular character the one that made me take almost a whole month to read a bit more than 100 pages, something that usually takes me around two days.
We were introduced to Max in the first novella in The Legacy Chronicles but we never really had much of him, thank goodness, until now. He got on my nerves so badly, I just wanted to smack him and make him react. I don't care that his actions may have a real explanation, nope, I just can't deal with him.
Ok, now that that's out of my system let's talk about the ending, that for me makes zero sense into being in a novella instead of a book.
In my, admittedly little, understanding of how novellas work I believe that they are supposed to end and reach a satisfactory point before ending, a conclusion. Yes, maybe sometimes they won't, but that's just so the main book can continue with whatever mess it ended on. Now that's something I don't think is gonna be happening here. I think that the resolution will happen in the next novella. What brings me to this question... wouldn't it just be better to make a whole book with these stories so they can fit a linear story? After all, that's what's already happening.
Anyway, it wasn't completely bad and it added to the world. But, please, don't give me more Max's POVs until he matures. Please. _________________
Well Six and Sam rushing into danger while their legacies are on the fritz is getting annoying, but the background storyline is getting better and more and more complex...and I’m starting to think I can see where it connects with the end of Fugitive Six, can’t wait to see if I’m right.
This was decent compared to the previous novellas but the ghost writers had to sabotage by writing telepathy instead of telekinesis at the end *face palms*
With the defeat of Jagger Dennings and the rescue of most of the Garde from the fight ring operation, Six and Sam are now desperate to try and find the missing Garde that could were initially taken by Dennings, Ghost, and even Freakshow as well as McKenna’s son Seamus, and try and return them, if not to the HGA, then to somewhere safe. Although they had planned to go it alone, Six and Sam find that they have an ally in Nemo, who won’t let them go anywhere on a mission to rescue her friend without them. An initial plan is thought out, and Nemo tries to contact Ghost to see if she can meet her. The only way to find her, requires the help of Max, who has not previously been seen in the circles that Ghost moves in, and, Ghost and Max have a special bond. The group go off to meet Ghost at an arranged rendezvous, but what is meant to be a happy reunion for Ghost, Max and Nemo, quickly turns into a fight and an abduction, with Max being taken. Suddenly, it is a race against time to find him, as they have no idea where he has been teleported to. Meanwhile, Max finds out a terrifying discovery, there are Mogadorians still active – and they now have him. However, something is done to him, and he doesn’t seem to mind, and finds himself not only working with them, but several other Human Garde, including Ghost. Six, Sam and Nemo go looking for Max, following him through an embedded tracker. Six and Sam are still suffering the after effects of being injected with Drac’s serum, that removed their legacies, and so are not at fighting capacity as such. When they arrive to try and free Max, they do not realise they are walking into a trap, one that has been carefully orchestrated to capture them. All of a sudden, this turns into a desperate battle for their lives, as Six, Sam and Nemo, as well as Max find that they are not on a rescue mission to find Ghost, but are instead in a fight for their legacies and their lives. The Chronicles continue to be an interesting side story to the main series, following the Loric Garde and some of the spin-off characters (Nemo, Max, Ghost, Rena etc), as opposed to the main Human Garde characters they have created for the full series of Legacies Reborn. Nine continues to cross between both series, however, there is still no mention of John, Marina or Ella. Five has appeared in the main series on the wrong side, and that will play out in the final book. This series continues to follow the rogue Human Garde, as well as the ‘Fight Club’ aspect of the story. Whilst Dennings and Bray were dealt with at the end of Book 3 in the Novellas, there are still several Human Garde, Ghost, Spike, Freakshow, Seamus, Boomer and others that are unaccounted for. It is a clever series, as whilst the main series is following the Foundation, and the threat of war between Garde and Non-Garde aspects of society, this story-line is looking at a more Garde vs Garde war, in which there are rogue aspects of the Garde working with whatever factions they can (or just themselves), for profit, or violence. It is also looking at certain aspects of society, that are seeking to exploit Garde by stripping them of their legacies and taking them for themselves – mainly the rich who want to have a Legacy so that they feel more powerful. This continues to be a really great series, the character development on the Human Garde is excellent, the world building has always been great (although, the only thing I wonder about, is why everyone of the Human Garde has only received a single Legacy, but all the Loric Garde have multiple?), and the storylines are politically intriguing, and captivating, they really make you think. If you have loved the Lorien Legacy stories – you will love this new Chronicles saga as well – a must read for fans.
Okay, why do these people keep trying to "rescue" Ghost? She's a stinking villain! Supposedly she turned when she was "abandoned" by her friends, but she has turned on them again and again. Trying to kill them, kidnapping them, using and manipulating them....and they KEEP FALLING FOR IT! Grrrr It was just frustrating that all Sam and Six could have avoided if they just left Ghost alone. Max was dumb and easily fooled because he liked her. Going so far as to get tattooed by the Mogs and helping them. Once again, getting Six and Sam captured. Reeeeally tired of those two get captured, especially so easily lol And since I read the novels, I know it'll happen again so guess I'm just waiting for that. Hope Nemo and Max have learned their lesson. Also....wasn't Scotty shot? Why is that punk even still around? 😂

Ghost still didnt get what she deserved, I hope she dies on the next book. Max is a stupid shit eventhough they gave him some "Mog drug" or something. So tired of reading about Six and Sam struggling to get their powers back. No real action, really.

These are such refreshingly quick reads. I love seeing every step in Sam and Six's adventures and can't wait to see how they found themselves in the predicament we found them in during the main story.
Sam, Six, Nemo, and others set off to rescue Ghost, facing different challenges along the way. The novella's cliffhanger ending begs the question, what dangers will they encounter next?
A little confused to follow along as some of the characters are new and I have not read the initial 3 books that preceded it but nonetheless happy to see how Sam became a badass after all
The human garde couldn’t be more boring my god. I’m here for storm chaser, if i wanted to read about all those kids, i’d pick one of the other spinoffs.
Was a great end to the Legacy’s reborn series that makes me think there might be another book or even series coming in the future. Ends with a great cliffhanger and action moment of Sam getting stuck in a underground capsule.
