Rate this book
It’s official: Scout is now a K9 in the National Guard. But being a certified hero means Scout has his job cut out for him. He needs to work even harder to protect his country and his human best friend, Matt.

When Matt’s classmates get trapped in a raging wildfire, Matt knows that only Scout can track them down and bring them back safely. But when Matt’s dad, a First Sergeant home on leave, gets wind of their plan, he insists on joining the rescue mission.

Can the heroic team save Matt’s friends from the dangerous fires before time runs out?

Matt has matured, but maybe his friends have not. The writing in this second book has improved.

Matt’s dad is home! Sister Britney is off to Washington DC. A wildfire has erupted on a nearby mountain due to dry conditions and extra-warm temperatures in mid-May.

p. 70 - "Matt knew his parents were always on alert - not just when they working, but also at restaurants, the mall, even kids' birthday parties. It was a skill they would never unlearn, a habit they could never break. And now Matt was starting to understand why - he could see how paying attention helps you find solutions."

This book grabs your attention. It is a quick read. Scout is a dog in the National Guard and Matt is his human best friend. Scout saves some of Matt's friends from a wildfire. The book shows you the bravery of Scout. It also shows you a special relationship between a kid and a dog. I recommend this book especially to dog lovers.
