Review for Mistress Grim by Jane Redd:

Wow! Although I don't read much fantasy, if I have a recommendation from a friend or the author is one of my favorites I will give it a try. Heather B. Moore (aka Jane Redd) is definitely one of my must-read authors and she did not disappoint! The fantasy elements are based in familiar mythology, but with twists and details that made it interesting and not like a history lesson ;) I loved the characters of Cora and Leo and instantly felt like I could relate to them and their goals. The plot is intense and moved swiftly along to the climax. The romantic moments are charged and yet sweet also. A great quick read that took my imagination to new places!

(I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)

Shattered Worlds is giving me life. So far I have read Sound of Silence by Ali Winters and it has not disappointed. Ms. Winters has knocked it out of the ballpark as usual with her take on aliens. I look forward to reading the other stories by the other authors.

*So far, this review is only for Ali Winters' book, Sound of Silence*

This story is super great! This story alone is worth the 99cent price for this boxset! Loved Ali Winters' writing, and the idea for this story is wonderful, and exciting! I was entertained through the whole story, and although I've read other alien invasion stories, this one felt unique to me! Raylinn, a teenager, doesn't quite know what to think when an alien race lands on Earth, but when she unexpectedly feels a connection with Jace, an alien, her feelings become more confusing, and when unexpected events begin to affect everyone, Raylinn doesn't know who she can trust. Raylinn has to go through some tough stuff, and she maintains her strength and composure through it all. I really enjoyed the romance in this story, it's really sweet and I enjoyed the connection between the two. There's some great suspense in this story, and I'm really looking forward to seeing more from Ali Winters in this world!

I receive ARC of Curse Breaker by Audrey Grey for honest review.
This is a great Fantasy read. This story has a strong female roll name Haven. The cover of the book had me hooked in. Once I started reading it I was more and more hooked. I couldn't put it down for one minute. The more I read the more it had me pulled in into the book. There is even magic! There is even evil Queen that want to take magic away. It so good that Haven has the magic of light and dark. She is special.
This is all for now! No Spoilers!
This storyline was well written and just perfect. The setting and theme was well put together. The characters are just perfect. Highly recommend everybody get this Shatter World Box.
This is just one of the great Fantasy to come. I can't wait for the rest of the story in this Shattered Wold Box. 💖💖💖💖💖💖

Curse Breaker by Audrey Grey
This is the absolute best book I've read all year! Even when compared to the brilliant Sarah J Maas and Victoria Schwab releases, which were my previous favorites. Audrey Grey is the new Queen and this series will shine as bright as all our favorite authors. It set a new 5 star standard for me.
I was dying to read Curse Breaker after I read an excerpt posted on Social Media. My exact thought was "This sounds just like the Throne of Glass series but... IDK.. deeper...more. I absolutely have to read it". I received an ARC and fell in love.
This is not one of those books you devour in one sitting; you will want to but it's so epic and well written that you'll find yourself savoring each moment, especially every moment involving Allucard (oh Allucard 😍my new book boyfriend😘 shhh don't tell my husband).
I didn't ever want this book to end. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love, I fought demons and I found another family.

I had to preorder this boxset before finishing Curse Breaker. I can only imagine what other gems are hidden within!

*Note: I received an ARC of Sound of Silence from Ali Winters in exchange for an honest review. This review may be updated as the boxset releases with other reviews for the 22 books I have yet to read.*
This was yet another great fantasy read , with just enough romance & injected into the story to make my heart go pitter-patter and make me turn the pages over and over again. As I read , I was further drawn in , and the book refused to let me go until I'd finished it. This will draw you in and you will be left with the desire to know more. Certainly , another amazing read from Mrs. Winters and one that I will be rereading over and over again.

I received an ARC of Audrey Grey's Cursebreaker, which will be included in this box set. I absolutely loved it. Grey has a major talent for world building and writing strong female characters. The story was exciting and I could hardly put this book down. Sarah J Maas better watch out because Audrey Grey is coming for your crown!

Review for Curse Breaker (A Kingdom of Runes #1) by Audrey Grey.
description

description
Curse Breaker by Audrey Grey is absolutely one of the best books I have ever read. I knew it would be good just from the synopsis but it was very much better than I expected. The MC (Main Character) Haven draws you in from the very beginning, Her tale will clutch your heart with an unbreakable grip. Haven is a badass brilliant female warrior who is the companion Guard of the Prince of Penryth, Bellamy. She is indebted to him because he saved her from harm in the past. This lead to her pledging her life towards protecting him.
On his Runeday, the day he's meant to be tested for magical powers that he might have (Though it's been a long long time since the Royal families has produced any magical heir). Unfortunately for him, due to some certain circumstances magic is revealed to have come from him. As is their custom in Penryth, any Royal offspring revealed to possess magic is then sent to the Shadow Queen for his or her magic to be extracted in mostly painful ways. The Shadow Queen is a blight upon the mortal lands because due to betrayal from the hands of a mortal, She casts a terrible curse on all mortals lands that greatly decreased their numbers and left their empires in ruin. The Shadow Queen rules the Netherworld (Which Bell is subsequently taken to after being abducted by the Shadow Lord (The Queen's Son-In-Law) and his goons) with her Shadowlings (Which are basically monstrous shadows made flesh, Think of all the worst possible monsters a twisted mind could conjure). Haven determined to save her Prince no matter what, embarks on a quest to save him from certain death. Her path aligns with that of an immortal Sun Lord (Archeron who is bound to the king and tasked by the king to find his son) who wields light magic and his band of merry men/women (OK they're technically more awesome than that and are also immortals with various powers that could smite dozens of villages). She often clashes with Archie (I LOVE calling him that) because of their VERY different point of views. She's impulsive and stubborn while he's more cautious, Oh and there's the fact that he harbors some hatred towards mortals. These two have chemistry that's off the charts, their banters are wildly amusing and their relationship blossoms in many intriguing ways. Who wouldn't love a guy that says this:
“Don’t let anyone dim your fire. Instead, burn and burn like the sun, like you were meant to, until you set the world ablaze.”

During the course of their perilous journey, a lot of revelations are made. One of the most important being Haven having magic and not just any magic but a combination of both dark and light. Mastering these peculiar powers of hers might just be the key to figuring out a way to break the Curse and freeing Bell from the clutch of the menacing Shadow Queen. Haven is seriously one of the best characters I've EVER (and I really mean that) read about. Yes she can be impulsive and a little bit crazy sometimes but that's part of who she is and she has so many other great qualities that just makes me love her. There's also the fact that she's crazily skilled with her majestic bow and arrows and she's pretty slick with a knife too. Her devotion towards Bellamy and her goodness after the terrible things she went through as a child are also admirable traits she has. The mystery of exactly who she is and what exactly she can do is one that greatly excited me and slowly unveiling the web surrounding it was very satisfying. Bell is also not to be left out, He also has a similarly intriguing journey though not as crazy as Haven's but no less dangerous combined with the fact that his days were literally numbered. He is dumped in Spirefall (The nasty lair of the Shadow Queen and no I will not call that monstrous nightmare inducing hulking structure Castle.) after his capture. He befriends a hooded creature (Who is half human and half reptilian (a doing of the villainous Shadow Queen Morgryth) and the very mortal prince who made Morgryth be brutal) there due to a tentative connection they seem to share. Their friendship blossoms into love and many interesting details about the past were revealed. Their relationship is literally a beauty and the beast situation but the live between the two guys is so deep and I liked the little twists here and there.
The writing of this book is just so phenomenal and lush, the words are so brilliantly crafted it all flows smoothly. The creativity and ingenuity of the author is to be commended. The worldbuilding is also a big deal, from the mortal lands of Eritrayia to the Ruinlands/The Shadow Kingdom/Netherworld to Effendier, Solaris, Asharia etc. The world is one big globe but at no point does it feel overstuffed, the reader will eased into it slowly and gently. The magic in the book is so good and very original, I enjoyed every single aspect of it. There are so many characters everyone can relate to, One of the strengths of the book is its diverse set of characters. The cast is long so I can't tell about all of them but I assure you they ARE awesome. The ending was thankfully not a dreadful cliffhanger but it's excitingly explosive in a way that leaves me excited for what's next for Haven and the family (Yup these guys are family to me especially after what we've gone through).
Audrey Grey is a genius storyteller that has woven a witty tale of magic, adventure, action, romance and danger. I recommend Curse Breaker to anyone looking for that next great read, you won't be disappointed.

P.S: That cover is simply divine.

P.P.S: I just want to say I feel really passionate about this book if you can't tell from my ridiculous rambling above, I truly believe there are no words I can use to do justice for just how good this book is.
P.P.P.S: Can't wait to read other books in this box set.

Shattered Worlds: a Limited Edition Collection of Young Adult Paranormal Romance, Fantasy, and Dystopian Novels -- this by far, was one of the WORST collections I have had the misfortune to come across, think I actually had it to buy and looked up the names first then cancelled it. 'Romance' is NOT what 'that' was, the cussing and so on didn't make any sense except for shock value of any sort, the first person present view, of which there were many, made NO sense whatsoever, and it was mind numbingly boring for the most part. And although it said that these stories aren't anywhere else, I could swear some of them are {was told later after review that some had been available on kindle before box set}, in other collections or books or else some of the writers basically write the same stuff from book to book.

2 star to match the amazon 2

This limited edition collection has 22 different novels included. Many of them are exclusive to this box set while it is out. I have a few of the exclusives that I previously purchased in my kindle library. Some of the books in this collection were great and other were not very good at all. I read this collection as part of the read-along the authors setup on facebook. Over all I didn't not like this collection. Many of the books were mediocre at best. A few were downright horrible because the main characters were incredibly stupid and only thought about how hot another character was. Individually, I found some great gems. I am going to list the individual star ratings for each book in this collection. Later I will update this review with more information for the individual stories. Any of the books that have their own page on goodreads has it's own review posted there. Without further ado...

My rating for each book in this set:
Starbound 3 stars
Slayer 5 stars
The Night 2 stars
Richard's story 4 stars
The Pirate Episode 3 stars
The Scourge 5 stars
The Perilous In Between 5 stars
Mistress Grim 3 Stars
Death Knocks 3 stars
Sound of Silence 3 stars
Curse Breaker 4 Stars
Rift 4 Stars
The Guardian 3 stars
Wingless 4 stars
A Reaper Made 4 stars
Logan 3 stars
ARV-3 5 stars
The Space in Between 1 Star
Prison of Statues 1 star
The Clockwork War 3 stars
Magic or Rulership 4 stars

A cornucopia of tempting books that I am slowly wending my way through.

Review of:
Clockwork War by Katy Haye

A delightfully well told steampunk story.
The characters are vibrant, believable and interesting and the two protagonists, Clara and Gordy are a captivating pair.
Clara, an adept Tinker, independent and feisty, isn't quite sure what to make of exuberant Gordy: he who is probably only quiet when asleep, and perhaps not even then.
There's conspiracy afoot, secrets to uncover and intriguing steampunk devices to build.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story set in an alternate history where Queen Victoria never existed and England is currently at war with Scotland.
Haye is extremely adept at leading a reader into false assumptions and then takes great delight in pulling the rug out from beneath one's feet, and I find myself with not a leg to stand on, my assumption going down in a spiralling display of alarm. But how I do enjoy the twists!

Review of:
Mistress Grimm
Jane Redd (Heather B. Moore)

A unique premise wonderfully told. It appears the Grim Reaper is not quite who mythology would have us believe.
World building of the Underworld is well structured and the characters enjoyable.
Sweet tale, deftly written.

Great stories although I haven't finished all of them I have finished a few, Cindy Hogan's Wingless - a great story about a young lady receiving "special gifts" on her 15th birthday. Jen Minkman's The Space Inbetween - Things don't always happen the way we want them and love doesn't always come wrapped in an hea with a pretty bow sometimes it is special and so is the way it shows up. Armitage and Culican's Slayer - Can a slayer be a friend in time of need when they have always been the worst enemy. Great story about people not always being what they seem. Kristy Tate The Pirate Episode - Nothing and no one is what they seem. When the people you think you know aren't and life is different than you ever imagined. Fast pace suspense and action. Emily Martha Sorenson - The Magic or the Rulership - What would you choose if given the choice? They chose love.

Aw hells bells this is a great collection of YA reads that are all over the place in what they are about. Magic, Shifters, Native Americans, Witness Protection, Dragons, magic and so much more. You wont be bored and you will have plenty to entertain you for hours.

This Review is for LOGAN: A LIFE AFTER COMPANION STORY

LOGAN is a sort of prequel to the Life After series told from the perspective of... you guessed it... Logan. It was so awesome to get to know more about Logan. He's so mysterious and keeps a lot of himself hidden in the full length books, so I loved getting this peek into his head. I really enjoyed getting a look at what Logan's life was like pre-death and then the beginning of his afterlife. And it was great to see more of his and Kaitlin's friendship.

LOGAN is the main reason I purchased the set. It's a great read to hold me over until the release of book three, DOMINION, but it can also be enjoyed even if you haven't read the LIFE AFTER series before. It did take me just a little bit to get into, which was probably just me getting used to Logan's POV. But it really didn't take long before I was reading as fast as I could and then being super sad because it ended.

This is a whole lotta books

I have always been a rapid reader often finishing a book in just one sitting. Gone With the Wind" took an entire weekend. This book of books I read over the course of two weeks, with a couple of all-nighters included. As for the books included in this anthology, some are riveting, while there are one or two that could use a good proofreader, Hell, even a bad one might help. I actually stopped reading one of the stories after only a chapter and wished I had cut another off that soon. So, this book contains the excellent, the mediocre, and those which waste your time.

Lots of good stories for hours of reading.

Even though there are some stellar stories in this collection, there were also several that are just not suitable for young adult readers, or old adult readers for that matter. I don't beleive explicit sex should be advertised as anything less than pornography, which it certainly is!!. Neither does vulgar language belong in this type of collection (don't know what that is? Look it up!) Most authors did a fabulous job which is the only reason I finished the book. Remember you can skip any story you wish, so enjoy!

This review is for Mistress Grim. It's an intriguing novella (around 100 pages long). The story explores a unique twist on the Grim Reaper myth. Cora finds herself needing to take her father's place to escort a soul to judgement. She has never done this before and was expecting her father to be able to be with her. While in the earth realm she meets Leo, a prince returning from war. She is supposed to be collecting his father's soul but things don't go quite as she expects them to...

Wide variety of stories, some continued with Kindle Unlimited.

I guess I'm selfish. Had every story, that was part of a set of books, been available on Kindle Unlimited, I would have set it as 5 Stars.
Every story was great, engaging and kept me trying to continue the theme.
This compilation took a while to complete, as I searched for the continued stories.
I would recommend this compilation to anyone interested in reviewing other author's style.

Death Knocks Is a young adult novel by Miranda Hardy & Jay Noel. This is a really well written young adult novel. I’m not really in to thriller type books but this was really good. It kept me on the edge of my seat for sure. These two authors did a great job writing this and I’m sure many young adults and adults will who like thriller/suspense books will find this a very enjoyable read.

Several great books, and great new authors to follow. A few stories that weren't for me, but the writing was good...so I'll look to check out other works by those authors. Overall a fun way to check out many new authors all at once!

Two new to me authors that I "must read more of" are Armitage and Culican, and Katy Haye!

Shattered Worlds is a compilation of novels and novellas. Some I enjoyed immensely and bought other books from those authors. Some were not to my personal taste. But that's one of my favorite things is that like a salad bar, I could sample a wide variety without committing to an entire entree until I knew I liked it. Logan was a favorite!

**** RICHARD'S STORY Reading these journals before the rest of the books may give different perspective to the series -- that I will be continuing.

***** STARBOUND Wow that was exciting! That was so addicting! Would love to see where the circle goes from here.

**** SOUND OF SILENCE was an interesting twist combining aliens and zombies in one story.
Although I felt a slight lack in character/bond building; which is typically why I don't like short stories.

****LOGAN: I loved seeing Logan's POV! Wish there could have been more! But it gave a bit more insight into Logan's struggles.

Excited to see what the rest of the stories will deliver next
