I was really curious to discover this novel by Caterina Passarelli and I must say that I was very intrigued by the themes.
Ariana and Luke both have diametrically opposed lives and yet fate brings them together very often. If there is an attraction between them, because of their past, they don’t want romantic relationships. We will have the opportunity to learn more about Luke with the chapters of his childhood scattered throughout the novel. It shows us the abuse he suffered when he was younger. As for Ariana, we can only assume what happened to her by her reactions before she revealed it later. They are two broken characters who will meet, but can they really surpass all that to be together?
I really appreciated Ariana, to see how she managed to put things aside to progress, evolve and especially to open up to others. Yet I had more trouble with Luke. I understand that he is marked by all that he has suffered, but I found him quite cold and I had a little trouble accepting that Ariana needs to accept his mood changes. He is sometimes very attentive and a moment later, he does not want her anymore. I was really sad for her.
Other than that, I had a good time with the story. She discusses strong themes and Ariana is very touching. I would have liked to appreciate Luke more.
Oh how I had hoped I would love this book. The premise was good, but the book ended up being just ok.
I feel like the author was trying too hard to follow the “recipe” most of these books are written after: a broken hero/heroine, some kind of childhood trauma, a firecracker best friend, a troubled relationship with the parents, some emotional angst and a couple of breakups between the main characters before they get their HEA.
All of this was, no surprise there, in the book. Don’t get me wrong, I usually go for just that, but the execution of the book was just not that great. A little too rushed, a little too much stuff jam packed in there.
Overall an ok read, but it definitely had the potential to be so much more.
This could have been so much better. The premise was good but the execution fell short. I am not a fan of this writing style- more of a telling than showing. Skipped a lot of the book. Recommend you do too.
I liked the description of this story, two damaged and lost souls finding each other but honestly I just couldn’t get into it. Caterina is a first time author for me and from the positive reviews I was hoping this would be a great story but it just wasn’t. Ariana an emergency doctor and former abuse victim meets Luke also a former abuse victim and they attempt a relationship. The story made little progress and was very repetitive. They had the predictable ups and downs, don’t communicate, break up then get back together and get their happily ever after. Sorry but too slow for me.
I started this story and could not put it down. I’m not going to lie this book is not hearts and rainbows. There were many times I was upset at Ariana, I felt like Luke treated her like crap. I understand he had major life issues and he had a horrible childhood, but sometimes he was just cold. But Ariana felt she needed him to be her best self so she waited and she hurt a lot but in the end she got her family, and happy ending and so did Luke. Something they both needed. There was hot kisses and steamy moments, nothing crazy but definitely described. It was a good love story. It just was a emotional read.
Wet emotional. Lots of ups and downs. I went through them as well on how I felt about the characters. The book has similar 50 shades vibes. With the ceo who has an abusive past and was an orphan. Then also has bombshell women working I. His office that look completely opposite to his love interest. I liked Ariana then she annoyed me. Yes Luke had his moments. But she was very wishy washy sometimes that got old. I liked the story about how they both rescued each other and Oscar. So cute.
The Power of Salvation is an emotional story about two broken people that heal each other. Luke and Ariana have similar pasts of neglect and violence. They try to fight off each other by keeping the walls in place, but the more time they spend together, the more the walls come down. The story is so well written, and describes the pain and healing each character went through. I loved it and I hope to read more about them in the future!
This book is great but it's also deep. The characters are dealing with their own version of abuse. It's intense watching them walk through the emotions and coming out stronger in the end. It was fantastically written and I really hope she'll write a follow up to this story for the other characters. Totally worth the read!
Honestly I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. There was alot of emotions I would be mad one min at them then the next I was cheering them on or swooning over them. But overall I loved that for having a terrible childhood they got their HEA. I’m a sucker for that. Great read in my opinion. Plus I love all Caterina’s books!
While the storyline was a good thought I’m not sure it was executed well. The story seemed to jump around from topic to topic and was sometimes hard to keep up. Over all I did like Luke and Ariana’s story and the author’s writing.
DNF. this book makes no sense. There's no romance, just skips immediately to sex. Childhood traumas are discussed but never treated with the care they deserve. I gave up a third of of way in because the dialogue was ridiculous.
Couldn’t put it down! Luke & Ariana had a lot to work through from the beginning but I was happy to see their happily ever after. Their story is both intense & heartwarming.
I chose to read this book not just because I know the author but because I loved the story behind it. It's heartbreaking and intriguing and thought provoking all at the same time. It's also about a topic not many people like to talk about but the reality is you'd never know the person next to you who looks so normal is an abuse victim. You don't realize the nurse who lives to take care of people is someone who gets slapped around or sexually abused. It's the people you least expect. Then behind that harsh topic you have a love story about two people getting passed their intense scars and hurtful past by opening up enough to find that they can heal each other wounds! It's a must read for anyone...
Love the story, your heart hurts then it soars with happiness. Caterina chose a great topic to touch on and did an amazing job! And yes, the sexy parts were HOT. Great book, must read!
The book was beautifully written, it just was a bit basic. But there’s nothing wrong with that my any means! Every so often you need a easy to follow story to get you out of a reading slump, and that’s exactly what this book did for me.
