I kill people for a living. If they're lucky, I only have to rough them up. It's rare they're lucky.
I know I work for a tyrant. Anyone who has the misfortune of getting on George Lynch's bad side should know their days are numbered. I'm the gun in his holster, the one he draws to take care of 'problems.' The one he uses so he doesn't have to get his hands dirty.
George saved me from a life of crime that would have landed me in jail. Now I commit even worse crimes that would earn me the death penalty if I ever got caught. George has me under his thumb. I guess we're both lucky that I never get tired of killing.
That's why I don't understand why he assigned me this little project. Kidnap a girl and keep her locked away in one of his houses with all the creature comforts like some pampered pet.
The job was supposed to be easy. Kendall was supposed to be a submissive little mouse. I thought she would obey my every command.
I was wrong.
Now I'm caught up in something that could cost me everything. Having to choose between love and my very life. Is it even worth it? Because who could ever love a beast?
This is a stand alone story with no cheating and a happily ever after ending.
This is a quick read by Sky Corgan. I didn't enjoy it as much as her others, but since it is a quick read it didn't take much to finish. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
This is actually a very sweet read- Beast has a job to do, this one is not his normal "job" but he is nothing if not devoted to his work - it should be easy just kidnap the girl - keep her comfortable for a week or two then let her go- easy 😂😂 he hasn't met Kendall yet - You gotta love the tenacity that girl has - Worse than a Doberman This is a slow to burn read but once it gets going it blazes - plenty of romance, intrigue and a whole lot of subterfuge I received a complimentary copy of this book
Beast has been a hired hitman for the last ten years of his life and while he and George are a team, they are not friends; George is nothing but a tyrant. Beast cannot understand why he has been assigned the job of kidnapping a girl and keeping her locked away in one of George’s houses; this is a job for one of his lackeys, not him, his right-hand man. While Beast is intimidating, the only reason he is getting this job is because George trusts him and expects him to control the girl with fear. Kendall’s father, Shane, is a scientist specialising in nanotechnology and it is the patent for this that George is after. Shane refuses to sell, despite George’s generous offer, and this is George’s attempt at persuasion. Shane has been given two weeks to hand over the patent. A life of killing people has made Beast emotionally dead inside and he has not had a meaningful relationship in years. Meanwhile, Kendall reflects on the loss of her mother and the obsession of her father’s work and the fact that she didn’t have a typical childhood; now all she wants to do is follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a Doctor. But when her father’s big break came, people began making bids for his patent, as well as threats. Now Kendall is facing such a threat when she is kidnapped and confronts a face of pure evil; the look she is giving Beast is one of complete loathing, but to him no one has ever looked more beautiful in their anger. Beast believes the job is nothing more than a babysitting one, but Kendall is relentless in her attempts to escape and she is not supposed to oppose him, yet she dares to defy him, and is lucky he is not half the animal she thinks he is. While Beast gives the impression of being a bad boy with his dark features and angry expression, Kendall doesn’t really fear him; she should be afraid but instead she is aroused. While a stranger, Beast has already proven he means her no real harm; he is such a strange man and may not be as brutish as she once thought. Kendall wonders how she ended up in this situation; why was she so stubborn to not believe she was in danger or so weak she couldn’t escape, but there is no way she will be a victim. While her first attempt at escaping is an epic failure, she doesn’t give up. Kendall makes a further attempt to leave, but when Beast hears the dogs barking, he comes running out of the house, only to get attacked and left unconscious. Beast’s last words to Kendall are “I am glad you are safe”. All Kendall has to do now is run and this nightmare will be over, but is that really what she wants to do and what will happen to Beast; he is completely defenseless now, so will she keep him safe too? This was quite an engaging story, with a few twists and turns that made it an enjoyable read. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
I did not like this book at all. I thought I was reading a completely different author I had to keep checking back to make sure it was still Sky Corgan. I was able to bow out of the last book Dirty Promotion because again it was not a book I enjoyed, but I promised to give an honest review for this one and I really tried to stick with it until the end (I hate not finishing what I’ve started) but even I had to call it quits half way through. At the risk of being forever banned by this author in reviewing another one of her books I have to be honest. The writing was sloppy the details and characteristics didn’t make sense. It’s hard to explain because it was just a mess one of those “you have to see it to believe it” type things. This tough hitman was supposed to kidnap a teenager in hopes that his boss is able to scare her father into selling his patent on a type of robotic invention. That I could work with but when the two were actually at the hide out location the story fell for me. It was like reading about a 17 year old high school boy and a bratty 10 year old girl call me crazy but that is not an attractive quality I want my characters to have. my favorite part was Beast, again a hired hitman, rattling his brain trying to figure out how his captive was able to open a locked door and no it wasn’t some high security door it was a plan locked house door. I would advise readers to skip this book because it needs a lot of tweaking and possibly a total redo but if you do decide to pick this one up Beast’s real name is Dyson it isn’t explained to the reader that his name will switch between the two it just happens and could be confusing if you aren’t looking for it.
*I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review*
Kendall is an only child well adult now living with her father who is very good at what he does and what everyone now wants from his is his patent to a drug that will help heal sick people. The Beast is told of a job that is different from normal and that is to kidnap a woman and keep her prisoner without harming her until her father hands over the patent, Dyson is a man who doesnt do love, romance or relationships outside of the one night stands, but when he meets Kendall he has finally met his match and he cant help his feelings that he has for her that he has never felt before.
What I enjoyed most about Beast is watching two people who are lonely and without someone that they want by their side finally come to an understanding and start to have real feelings for each other, watching Dyson start to have a heart and only want to make her happy and to make sure she is safe, seeing Kendall have the chance to escape but stay to take care of her captor.
I loved this book, you really didnt know how each scene would go, if she would succeed at running away or just stay until everything with the patent was done, Kendall has these big dreams to be a doctor to help heal people but she never thought she would be kidnapped or that she would fall for her captor, Dyson a man who knew that he would be signing his own death sentence if she got away but finding he wants love and to have it then to have lived without it in his life. IF you like stories like this, then Beast is a must!
This story shows off the incredible authorship of Sky Corgan. In the hands of a lesser author this plot would not have worked at all. The story features Dyson, a ruthless man who truly enjoys his nasty line of work, and Kendall, an incredibly smart, yet perhaps a bit naïve woman whose strong will often calls the shots. Add a touch of Stockholm syndrome with some fateful twists and a few moral dilemmas, and well… the average author would just have an unbelievable mess on their hands. But there’s nothing average about this story. The characters are well written, and the attention to detail gives the reader a good sense of why these people make the choices they do. That’s critical to this story. It’s this attention to all those little details that helps the reader understand the heat between Dyson and Kendall, and how two such opposite individuals could possibly fall in love and risk so much for each other. It’s a wonderful story and fiercely done.
This story leans a bit more toward the psychological than the erotic. So for those concerned, the love is steamy and intense, but the book is not filled with raw sex scenes. Considering Dyson makes his living as a hit man, the mature language is not overly done. Oh sure, it’s there, it’s just not over the top. In fact, it could be considered by most to be appropriately done. As always, the reader needs to make their own decisions concerning these areas.

And I'm starting straight off saying what a beautiful love story this is where Sky has written it beautifully & how The Beast (Dyson) calls for you to like him, even though he's a sadist & has that killer instinct. Except where females are concerned, especially where his kidnapped victim Kendall who he's had to have her housed up until her father, Scientist Shane Deridder & he's got what he wants, which is a creation he's created, a nanobots, which will be able to mend life threatening wounds. Can you imagine how many lives this could save & he wants the patent, do he can make more money to sell them through his medical companies. But forget about that, here we have Kendall who seems to be the quiet 'Princess' type of Lady who'll be quiet, easy to control & will be intimidated by 'Beast's' domineering, scary dominer, like all the men he his to kill/beat up, but oh heck does Dyson get a shock when Kendall is one heck of feisty girl who isn't scared sh*tless of him, all she cares about is to get the heck away & who cares if there's 2 Dobermans there to guard the place for intruders or 'Outruders' (escapees) & I say these 2 Dobermans bring these 2 together. There's excitement & areas where there's fast scenarios. Well worth a read or 2 of Sky Corgan's latest book BEAST 😘😘😘
4.5 stars For fans of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, this one is for you. If you think that this is the same old story then you could not be more wrong. This is a more modern take on a classic that has the reader entering the world of Kendall and Dyson (aka Beast.) Kendall is an extremely intelligent young woman who wants to become a doctor. Her father, Shane Deridder, is a scientist and has come up with a new invention that will revolutionize the medical field. This makes the patent for the invention highly sought after by some unsavory types. Dyson is the enforcer for George Lynch who wants the patent by any means necessary; so Dyson is sent to kidnap Kendall. However Kendall is no wallflower and does not take kindly to her current predicament. She does whatever is in her power to thwart the Beast every chance she gets. Yet as time passes, her feelings begin to soften towards him. This is another engaging read from Sky Corgan that demonstrates her ability to craft a world with characters a reader can fall for and intriguing storyline that you will not put down until the final page has concluded. It is definitely worth adding to your to be read shelf! I volunteered to read an arc for a review.
If you're looking for a literary version of the Beauty and the Beast movie, you might not be old enough for this book. Sure, it has the intelligent female lead, the gruff (and huge) beastly man who holds the lady hostage in a very nice home, her father is an inventor, and there's a scene with dogs that resembles the scene with wolves. That's where the similarities end, and that's where this story really gets started. This story is much more real and authentic than any Disney fairy tale. Sky Corgan's writing style is lyrical, beautiful, soul-wrenching and honest as she crafts characters who feel like we've known them for years. Beast/Dyson is a bad, bad, man but only as a means of survival. Given the opportunity, could he do more with his life? Kendall is smart, sassy, feisty, determined, and brave, so how can she allow herself to fall for a man who has accepted the assignment to kill her if the boss orders it? This is an brilliant, intelligent story of two people who rise above their circumstances and make the most of the lives they've been dealt. Theirs is a well-earned HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Yes, this is a Stockholm story, but not necessarily in a bad way. Here's the synopsis: Father has something bad guy wants. Bad guy hires thug to babysit fathers adult child *cough*kidnap*cough*. Thug saves adult child from dire situation. Adult child falls for thug. It's almost the adult version of beauty and the beast but without all the atrocious autotuned singing and animated furniture. My impression of the story is that it was good, not great. For the length, I believe the characters stood out enough and carried their weight. I didn't openly hate the character development at all. The speed of the story was just right because there wasn't much room for prolonged development. I didn't openly hate anything about any of the characters because they behaved just as their characters were supposed to IMO. It was a quick, almost breezy (if an audiobook can be) read. I enjoyed it. Narration was a little different but in a good way. Once you get accustomed to the style of reading, it adds a little bit of flare to the story. I'd give it a strong 3.4 stars overall. I received this book for free and have voluntarily given this review.
My favorite fairy tale is reinvented with this short erotic novella. Sky Corgan has taken Beauty and the Beast and given it a fresh, contemporary face with Beast. He is a hitman and has kidnapped the young daughter of a scientist. Not allowed to hurt her, she uses her ability to outwit him and escape only to find herself in danger. When he saves her, she is met with the dilemma of running or helping him...after all, he is the beast. I loved this take on the old story, though I found the heroine a little young for the part. She seemed a little mature and street smart for her age, but that did not detract from the chemistry and hotness of the book. I loved the back story of the scientist and his discovery, gives the story some new content and a little futuristic take on things.
Nathan Glondys is a new narrator for me, and I thought he performed this story beautifully. He has a voice that can be both harsh and sweet, easily can determine which character is speaking and he paces the story well. Will look forward to more from him.
I really enjoyed this rendition of on the fairy tale. ❤️ Dyson is a hitman, and is put on a different case by his boss. There's a scientist who has came up with a nanobot that is capable of healing life threatening wounds, and his boss wants the patent. The best way to get what he wants is to kidnap the scientists daughter. Kendall is in hiding with her dad, she understands why, but is still lonely. Her dad is constantly busy in the lab since her mother passed. Dyson (Beast) kidnaps Kendall and takes her away, but underestimates her. Kendall keeps trying to figure out ways to escape, even being out on an island, and vicious dogs guarding. Beast/Dyson saves Kendall from the vicious dogs during one of her failed attempts. Kendall ends up saving Beast from his wounds. Is there something deeper developing between them? Can Kendall save her father's patent? Will she be able to protect her heart? "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
Beast is a hit man that enjoys his job. That is, until his boss wants a patent for a new invention and orders Beast to kidnap a girl. Beast is not a babysitter but he will follow orders...how hard could it be? Beast is in for a surprise. Even when Beast tries to intimidate Kendall, she does not act like she fears the Beast. She actually talks back to him and tries to escape.
During one of Kendall's escape attempts, Beast is injured. Instead of leaving him, Kendall stays to take care of Beast. Beast slowly changes and develops feelings, which he's never had before, for Kendall. While Kendall cares for Beast, she doesn't believe he will stay after everything is said and done. Beast double-crosses his boss to protect Kendall and her father. Now, Beast's life is on the line.
Okay, I'm not telling you any more. Read the book to find out if Beast survives and has a future with Kendall. I volunteered to review for an ARC of this book.
I really enjoyed this quick read by Sky Corgan. The plot was well thought out and the story really flowed well from chapter to chapter. A lot of the times on shorter books the story seems rushed, but that is not the case with Beast. I didn't feel like I was left with questions after the story was complete. I absolutely loved the main characters Kendall and Dyson (aka Beast). Kendall was kidnapped and held captive until her scientist father signed over a patent to her captors boss. She is super sassy and shows no fear in her attempts to escape. Dyson was hired to kidnap Kendall and basically babysit her until her father signs over the patent. She drives him crazy at first with all of her crazy antics trying to escape but after she does a kind act for him things quickly change. There is never a dull moment in the storyline and I definitely recommend a 1-click today. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is a pretty short read which means there is not a ton of fluff and we don’t go very deep in the characters. Yes, there were a few, ‘really, you expect us to fall for that’ moments, like when Kendall gets taken while jamming out in the garden. Even she says that wasn’t the brightest thing to do when people were after them, but hey we had to get there somehow so it is what it is.
The relationship between George and the Beast was a bit odd….made the Beast a bit weak if you will, but I actually did enjoy the story for the most part. The 180 that Beast makes when Kendall changes his view on life was pretty good.
An entertaining read.
Hero 4 stars / Heroine 4 / Steam 4 stars / Plot 4 stars / Overall 4 Stars Keys: Dual POV, MF, Suspense, Kidnapping #MSBB - I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book
Ok, so this book is about Beast who works as a Hitman for George and Kendall, who he was hired to kidnap so George can get her father's patent for a nanobot invention. Of course she tries to escape, because who wouldn't? But after her failed attempts, it becomes obvious that she likes him. They were only together for a total of 2 weeks, and she went from being a prisoner to being in his bed & falling in love with him. And it seems Beast may feel the same, despite it may be signing his death warrent. give this 3.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐ I love Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, & this was definitely a retelling, which is why i decided to read it. It was suspenseful, and a quick read, but i feel the emotions moved too fast. I liked it, well enough, but it wasn't one of my favorites. I received this ARC for an honest review.
Beast is a hired killer. But his boss sends him on as a different assignment this time. He's sent to kidnap Kendall Deridder because her dad is a scientist specializing in nanotechnology, creating nanobots that can mend life-threatening wounds in a matter of seconds. Beast's boss wants the patent to the technology because Shane Deridder refuses to sell no matter how generous the offer. So I totally Loved This Book because on chapter 6 Sky Corgan had a scene that totally reminded me of Disney's Beauty And The Beast!! Just a bit more on the adult side since there was some language. I completely recommend that you check out Sky Corgan's new book Beast!! It's not a long story but completely worth getting!! I voluntarily received an ARC for an honest review.
Most Mafia, paid killers, books, I usually do not like, but occasionally, there is an exception, and this is one. I not only liked this book, I really loved it. Kendall is everything that I like in a heroine. She is smart, feisty, stong, caring, and perseveres. Dyson, also known as Beast, is a paid killer, until his job is to kidnap Kendall, and keep her safe while his boss works out a deal with her father. We find there is much more to Dyson, than it seems. We find that he is also smart, strong, caring, and perseveres, along with being sexy, as we get to know him better. It is a wonderful, well written story, that I not only couldn't put down, but I didn't, because I was so into the story. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and I consider this one a must read.
Kendall is a fantastic character, put in a situation where most people would crumble instead she stands up for herself and refuses to be dictated to. It creates some interesting situations.
Beast is a very bad boy, an assassin for the last 10 years he's not the sort of person you want to end up in contact with. Yet he has distinct morals which seems like it should be a contradiction and yet it works.
The story line is interesting, the chemistry is there and it's a quick listen. In fact the only thing I'd change is the length, I'd have liked it if it was longer.
The narration is well done, good character voices and a nice natural delivery.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher in exchange for an honest review.
AWESOME book about a man who is a killer for a rich man without any scruples and a sweet, smart girl who he kidnaps. The story has suspense, twist, determination, fear, empathy, caring, and love. Will Beast and Kendall fall in love or is it Stockholm Syndrome? Will they get a happy ever after or will Beast’s boss make sure they don’t. Grab the book and sit back for the story! Sky again shows her talent as a writer when she takes this plot and fleshes out her characters to make us feel like we are living this story. She amazes me with her creativity. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is a great re-telling on a classic Beauty and the Beast but with a twist you don't expect. I loved Dyson and Kendall's characters and found them both rich and well developed. Dyson (Beast) has been given a job kidnap a girl and hold her until her father a scientist sells his patent on a breakthrough nano technology to his boss George. This job should be easy the girl will be docile, scared easily controlled, A piece of cake that is until Dyson meets Kendall and finds her anything but docile as she fights him every step of the way. Sky's plot delivery is perfect delivering a hot, feel good romance I loved this book and would highly recommend it.
Dyson (Beast) is a hard man, a criminal who doesn't think twice about taking a life but that's all about to change. When he kidnaps Kendall at the behest of his employer, he doesn't have a clue what he's signing himself up for. Her bravery, her spirit, and beauty make her impossible to resist and he soon realizes he would risk everything for her.
I loved Kendall. She is a great character, and when all was said and done, I couldn't help liking Dyson also. He redeemed himself admirably and I loved the HEA. Great writing by Sky Corgan in this modern take on Beauty and the Beast. I loved it.
There is Kendell who was kidnapped from her father's home when she wasn't paying attention and listening to her music too loudly. She thought her dad was crazy that they were in danger. Then there was Beast ( Dyson) who was the hitman for his boss, George. When George gave him the "kidnapping job" he wasn't happy. He didn't usually do this sort of thing. Also George wanted him to be nice and not do anything to the person being kidnapped. Will he be able to do it? Will Kendell be able to escape this nightmare? Will the closeness get too close? You'll need to read the book to find out.

This is a crazy insane book. Serious Stockholm Syndrome. I get sexual attraction and lust. Love this quickly in this situation is beyond my comprehension. I'm not sure how I feel about Dyson. He's so cold, and vicious, I can't imagine feelings out of him; let alone love. Kendall is a tough girl and deserves better than what she gets. I'm amazed she actually stays to help him. Yet some people are just better than others deserve.
A hitman who works for a tyrant is assigned an unusual job. He is supposed to kidnap the daughter of a scientist with a valuable patent. His boss wants the patent and the scientist refuses to sell. His boss wants to use the scientist's daughter Kendall as leverage. This is sort of a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Kendall turns out to be a live wire and does not take to being kidnapped. She continually tries to escape and once she has the opportunity, she's not sure she wants to. The attraction and chemistry takes on a life of it's own. No spoiler, but this is a good book that's quick and easy to read. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review.
Here is your love story. When your nickname is Beast people expect a certain thing from you and underestimate you in areas other than brawn. When your dad is a famous scientist and you grew up in wealth people assume certain things about you - like your a princess, a brat, and maybe someone who doesn't need to do much to get what she wants. Never judge a book by its cover. When Beast and Kendall come together neither knew the sparks that will fly and not only the romantic kind. Kendall needs Beast's skills to protect her and Beast needs Kendall's smarts when he confronts his boss. I received this book and am giving an honest voluntary review.

I enjoyed reaading this story about Kendall & 'Beast'. Kendall is taking by Beast or Dyson in exchange for her fathers's patent. At first Kendall hates him for what he has done but as time goes by she see the real man. When she tries to escape for the second time, Dyson is injured by the dogs but instead of leaving him Kendall stays and cares for him. Eventually Dyson realises that he can't live his life this way anymore and protects Kendall & her father from his boss.
I really loved this book, it was a fantastic read. The writing was great, the characters had nice chemistry and best of all it has a wonderful ending. The storyline really reminded me of beauty and the beast, but with a major twist. Dyson(Beast) kidnaps Kendall, after his employer instructs him too, but little does he know she is strong and doesn't back down from him, which only lights a fire between them both. Overall it was great!!!! I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review it!
***I voluntarily read this ARC to give an honest review*** A very enjoyable read. The "Beast" whose real name is Dylan Fidler, is the hitman for a local dirty business man, George Lynch. But this time Lynch doesn't want Beast to kill someone, he wants him to kidnap a keep a girl, Kendall. whose scientist dad has made a discovery of technology that can heal serious wounds. Lynch wants the patent. At first, Beast doesn't want to do it, but he is given no choice. Kendall seems to be an easy prey, but he soon finds she is no joke. Great read.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book. This is the second book I am reading by Sky. I am happy to have found her. I enjoyed reading this story. Kendall and Dyson quickly find their way to one another through difficult circumstances. The strength of their fast attraction is heart-warming, and especially so when you learn of Dyson's profession. Sky does an exceptional job of showing us who Dyson is prior to meeting Kendall, and what he gives up for his love of her. This is a book you will want to pick up and read.
