The Truth About Falling

Life is full of decisions.
Take the path on the left and turn into a beautiful princess. Veer right and wind up homeless. Choices, we make them every day.

I was on a path. I was going to become an improved version of Jade Hart, immersing myself in the world of art, but that didn’t happen. Instead, I’m on a new road, failing miserably, wondering how I ended up in this place.

Now I’m the girl no one wants to be around. The one who has a thousand feet of steel forged around her, not daring to let anyone through–until him.

Hudson is different. He doesn’t care about the baggage I drag around. He helps me carry the weight, even when I don’t want him too. I don’t have time for him, but my heart, my heart needs him more than I care to admit.

This book is a new adult romance novel that will have you thinking about your life. This is the first book I have read from this author and she left me speechless. This beautiful story had me hooked on the very first page. I got so involved in these characters before I knew it I finished the whole book. I read this amazing book in only a few hours.

Jade Hart is a devoted daughter.
She gave up her dreams to help her family out. Jade is very head strong so she does not have any friends. Instead of going to college like most young women do, she is working to two jobs just to make ends meet. She had a very good childhood but when she turned seventeen her whole world crashed down on her. She now feels like she is failure and that no one is there for her until one night she runs into the handsome Hudson. She feels a connection to him but she does not want her heart broken at another loss. Jade starts seeing Hudson around and starts to build a friendship. They start to move on to the next step in their relationship and then tragedy strikes again. She always pushes people away when things get to hard for her. Will Jade let Hudson have her heart or will she break his? Will Jade ever find peace and not feel like a failure?

Hudson has also been through a horrible tragedy that has changed his life. His life now is to focus on raising his young son. One night he is out and he sees this beautiful young woman that changes his life. He meets Jade but she is really timid and quiet. He feels an instant connection to Jade. He starts off slow so he does not scare her away. He quickly develops strong feelings for her. Hudson finally breaks open her shell and gets to know the real Jade. He wants to protect her and be a shoulder to lean on. Hudson is afraid of how his son will act with a new woman in his life but he feels like he can't live without Jade. Will Hudson be able to protect Jade from the crash or will she fall over the edge? Will Hudson find love again or will he always be alone with his son?

This book is a true masterpiece for the mind and soul. This story has it all unconditional love, deceit, and forgiveness. I fell in love with Jade immediately. She is very brave and strong on what she had to deal with at a young age. She is a broken soul that needed healing and she finally got it. Hudson is my new favorite male character this year. He is so sweet and genuine to Jade it will make your heart melt. I love how he a very devoted father to his young son. He would do anything for the people he loved. These characters chemistry is off the charts. You can feel it as you are reading the book. There is a couple of very steamy scenes that will make your toes curl. This story is full of raw and real emotions. This talented author made me laugh and also broke my heart. The ending is so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. I would love it if we got to read Hudson’s side of this story. This is a must read. I'm excited to see what this talented author will write about next.

This was my first read by H.M.Sholander and was purely an amazing but emotional book to read. I devoured every beautiful word written on that page. I must say going into this blind and not knowing what to expect was what motivated me to read, besides the beautiful cover and synopsis that pushed me into reading. But I love reading a book by an author I never read from before, it's like taking a exciting journey to a new land.

I'm so glad I took this journey because it was one I would never forget. From start to finish these characters and story was developed, the way it flowed on was epically beautiful. The storyline was heartbreaking a mother and daughter relationship. A mother who fell ill and a daughter who fell by her side and took care of her. It definitely taught me to appreciate my mom and what I would do if I succumbed to that situation as well.

Jade's story was so heartbreaking and emotional. But that's what I loved so much. The love and compassion you have for someone else that you give up everything for.

Hudson ugh I wish I had him. I crave for him. I really empathsized for him and for Jade. I felt like both of them yearned for eachother and for life.
Highly recommended this emotion but gripping story about love.

A love story of a mother and a daughter. Jade is a young woman who puts her life on hold just to take care of her ill mother. The love for her is endless. In her need to take care of her she works her head off, pushing everyone away until Hudson shows up. It is the right and the wrong time for them and when the most fearful moment finally comes it is the only thing that pushes her outside of her self-destroying mode.
This book made me think about the time my family went through the rough time of illness an the time of a big loss. It is very important to have people who loves you around yourself and Jade as well found that out on her own as well.

Get a proofreader!

I enjoyed the premise of the book. The story definitely had potential but it read like it was written by a first time writer. So many typos and so many words that were used incorrectly (quite instead of quiet...scolding water instead of scalding water...etc) when I read a book with this many errors the author loses credibility with me. At the very least...get a proofreader. I don't recommend this book.

Making sacrifices for those we love

The Truth About Falling was about two young characters balancing obligations, responsibilities, relationships, family, and friends. Jade worked two jobs to support her parents. Not the life she set out for, but a life she chose. Hudson was a single man raising his six year old son.
The introductions of these main characters was a bit rough. Jade's character was a tad too depressing. Her character's life was filled with bitterness and negativity. Jade's character was a pity party for one. She let the circumstances of her life get the best of her.

The topic was heartbreaking, yet I struggled with the concept of Jade's choices. I did enjoy the similarities of the main characters circumstances. I wish they had been more prevalent from the beginning. The delivery of the content, introductions of main characters, and transitions between scenes were weak. I struggled in the beginning, trying to understand Jade's character and the direction she was headed. I wanted more from this book. It lacked the emotional growth and development I seek. I wasn't glued to the words or eager to read the story. It was flat and somewhat boring.

“You had this really shitty thing happen to you, but you shouldn’t let it stop you from living your life. I can understand that in the beginning you needed to get your bearings on the situation, but it’s been three years, and you’re in the same place.” This quote summed up Jade's character. This statement outlined how Jade's character was feeling guilty about living her own life. Yet, she harbored too many regrets and struggled with resentment.

Jade sacrificed a lot to take care of her mother after she was diagnosed with heart disease. Her father is a deadbeat and was abusive and unfaithful to her mom. Jade worked 2 jobs and gave up college, so she could make ends meet. Jade put up with her father putting her down often and not working or doing anything to help out and she lets him. She thinks she's doing it to protect her mom. Jade's being selfish and wants to keep her mother alive as long as possible because she cares about her feelings and wants more time with her, which comes off as extremely selfish, but also shows that she's human. Sometimes we think we are helping, but don't see it as hinderance or suffering. Hudson comes into her life and Jade already has walls up. The story is pretty long and drawn out on some scenes. It's emotional, frrustrating, heartbreaking and up lifting.

Very sad story all the way around; it felt "over the top" with melodrama at times. However, I kept reading and hoping for something better and it was worth it! The developing relationship with Jade and Hudson is done very well.

I loved this book. The character’s path from despair and just surviving- that place of barely staying afloat to seeing that glimpse of life on the other side of despair is real and raw and powerful. It’s definitely worth the read.

The Truth About Falling is a contemporary romance that shows the impact on our lives (and the lives of others) of decisions we make all the time and that sometimes the decisions that we make can catch us out. The book tells the story of Jade and Hudson.
Jade Hart: strong minded, truly selfless, loving devoted daughter and yet she doesn’t believe in herself, calls her-self a failure. When will she see herself as others see her? When at seventeen her whole world was turned upside down, she had to rethink her own life and her closest relationships. She then made a decision and set herself on a path with high expectations and now she feels she is failing, no-one likes her because she is harsh and pushes people away. Her fears, hopes and desires are overwhelming her, drowning her, pushing her down further and further into herself. Can she escape the emotional baggage she is heaping upon herself? Can or will she let others in to help her take some of her burden away? Will anyone want to or even be able to stay the course with her without her bringing them down too?
Hudson: strong minded, has been through similar tragic events to Jade, so he knows what and how she is feeling. He is strong enough (despite carrying his own emotional baggage) to want to support her as she reels through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The problem is – will she let him in enough to be able to lighten her burden? Will he be able to help her come to term with herself, the path she has chosen and the consequence of the things fate has thrown at her?
H M Sholander has written in the most sensitive way a story that has raw, honest emotions, real life events and the most complete characters you will ever find in a story. Jade’s character will make you smile and will also make your heart cry. Hudson’s character is also just as real and as raw. These two characters go through similar realistic events that impact on their lives leaving them feeling devastated and alone and yet they make it through, showing how resilient human beings can be if they never give up and fight back against all the blows that fate deals them. The importance of letting other people in to share burdens and help express emotions and come to terms with tragic events is also dealt with wisely and sensitively.
I loved the metaphors and allegories used by H M Sholander throughout the story to deepen the reader’s understanding of Jade and Hudson. This is Jade: ’We’re a perfect storm. Lightning and thunder seeking each other, chasing the other until they collide, creating something meant to strike fear into its witnesses. We’re a storm, and I’m hoping there’s a rainbow on the other side …’
The Truth About Falling is an amazing read. I now have to find and read other books by H M Sholander.

The Truth About Falling by H.M. Sholander 5 Stars!!!

This book is full of feels and had me lost in the world of Jade and Hudson from page one. This is one of those stories that the characters will stay with me long after the book is over. This is my first book by H.M. Sholander, but won't be my last! The way she writes had me wrapped up in the story and lost to reality. Once I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down. Jade is a pessimist, but the further you get into the book, you realize her snarky remarks are just a front. When her mom was diagnosed with heart disease, she gave up herself and lived to keep her mom alive. She built steel walls around her heart and refused to let anyone penetrate the fort. She kept everyone out and the hurt within. Jade didn't discuss what she has been going through for the last three years with anyone. She was hardened from the battle she has had to fight by herself. To everyone else, she was a rude, sassy, jaded young woman that hated everything and everyone. She was actually afraid to bring anyone into her darkness and drag them down. Jade is a very emotional person and felt deeply although others only saw the hard exterior she put on as a front. She would love in her emotions and work her butt off to shut the voices off, even for a moment.

Hudson was the complete opposite of her. He was pessimistic and although he was battling an internal battle, he held his head up high and looked for the good. The darkness of their individual internal conflicts brought them together. Although they each had their own struggles to deal with, they both showed it in different ways. The things Hudson would say to Jade would make any girl swoon, even Jade if she was honest with herself. As Jade continued her downward spiral of destruction, Hudson was there to help her up and break through the wall she formed, even if it was miniscule pieces at a time.

This story had me in tears several times. It is one of those books that you want to hurry up and finish, yet read slower to make it last longer. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something different from the run of the mill romance novel. This was a very unique story and one that will stay with me for a while!

The Truth About Falling
By H.M. Sholander
5 stars

Wow! This story was just breathtakingly beautiful and everything I have come to expect from this extremely talented author. Even thinking back about what I read in this book has me on the verge of tears. The characters were just so raw and emotional, I could feel everything they felt and I never wanted the book to end. Her seamless writing is just a pure joy to read and even though the stories are emotional they are just so, so beautifully written that you can’t help but fall in love with them.
Jade was possibly one of the most honest and selfless characters that I have ever read about. It’s during some of those honest conversations she had with Hudson about how she was feeling where my heart completely broke for her. Trying to lock away your feelings about what is going on in your life is hard and exhausting and I could tell that she had distanced herself and hardened herself off to everything in order to protect herself from being hurt more than she has already.
Hudson was such a breath of fresh air for Jade and someone that she could open up to about how she was feeling. He had his own problems to deal with but knew that there was something in Jade that he could empathise with and knew they could in fact help each other. He really was such a lovely person and so mature for his age.
I remember reading this authors first two books and being so in love with the stories that she told, they aren’t all ‘hearts and flowers’ they are about real life and things that do happen and because of that I found I have connected with her characters so much more and taken them firmly into my heart.
I don’t really think 5 stars is enough for this story and I can’t find the words to say just how wonderful it was. It really was an absolutely outstanding story that I will definitely be reading over and over again. I will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting more from this author!

The Truth About Falling by HM Sholander is a new adult-contemporary romance novel. This story is about a young woman who has given up her dream to care for her sick mother and dead beat father. Life struggles are beating her down, she is stuck in her life until one night she meets him. This is not my first book by this author but it is hands down my favorite of hers. The story that she brings us this time is a must read and all I can say is WOW! This story will take you on a roller coaster ride of various emotions that you will not soon forget. The characters are lovable, engaging and connectable. These characters will pull you in from the first word until the last. They will pull you into a world of struggles, compassion and love. I couldn't put their story down and got totally lost in this book and read it in one night.

This is the story of Jade and Hudson. These two are true to life and their situations are very real for some people. The author did an awesome job of giving us details of real life and making us feel as if I was a part of this story. Jade is a tough, strong person but she does seem to have a little self esteem problem which I believe comes from her life experiences the past couple of years. She is most selfless character I have seen in a long time. She gives and gives and takes nothing for herself. It was so awesome to see how much she grows throughout this story. Hudson is a really sweet hero for her. I love that he is a single dad and has some real struggles. He has so much compassion for Jade and has so much determination. These two really just belong together and couldn't wait to see if they ever got their HEA. I highly recommend this book, it will make you laugh and cry. Part way through this book, I got really sad because I knew the book would end soon and I didn't want to see this story end. You have to see how Jade and Hudson's story will end!

The Truth About Falling by H.M. Sholander

5 Amazing Stars!!!

Amazingly Brilliant story!! I can't believe this is my first book by this author, she is awesome and I can't wait to read her other books!! This story was refreshing in the way she handled the characters..it wasn't the normal poor, sad, broken girl being saved by the rich millionaire, don't get me wrong I love those stories too but this one felt so so real.

I felt every single emotion known to man while reading this book, I carried around tissues and had the whole ugly nose blowing during most of this book. I gave up 7 years of my life for my best friend/Mother, so I felt everything down deep. Jade was the strongest written character I've ever read about. She didn't know it and felt weak and broken, yet what she did to keep afloat was amazing.

Hudson...sigh…..My new book hero that stands above all the others right this minute. I fell in love with this man and all of his perfect brokenness. I loved him and Jade's interactions, her fear of breaking him and him staying strong while fighting his own battles was written perfectly.

-“I’m going to ruin you,” I whisper. “I’m almost done destroying myself and my parents. You’ll be next–I just know it.”

-“You won’t because even though you feel helpless and broken, you’re not. You’re strong and courageous. You can’t ruin me because this”–he gestures between us with his free hand–“was meant to happen. We were meant to find each other.”

Everything about this book is wonderful, the cover is beautiful, the words inside are deep, the style and flow of the story couldn't have been more perfect. I just can't say enough about this book.

Run, don't walk and go one click this, I truly don't know how you could be disappointed, it was amazing!!!

The Truth About Falling
By: H.M. Sholander
5 out of 5 stars

The story The Truth About Falling by H.M. Sholander is a new adult/romance book. Quote: Hudson talking to Jade: “If you’re not going to fight for yourself, will you let me fight for you?” This is just one of the statements made in this story that I loved. It shows how deeply Hudson is falling for Jade and wants to be the one that she can lean on. This is the latest book from an author who can weave a story that will leave you spellbound and create characters that you will not soon forget. This is the story of Jade and Hudson. Jade is a woman who is tough and gives snarky comments. Inside, however, she feels like a failure in so many ways. She doesn’t see herself as the selfless, strong, smart woman that she really is. She has created a wall around her heart, however, Hudson is breaking that wall down. Will Jade learn to fully trust Hudson with her heart? Will she let herself fall for Hudson? Over the course of reading this book, you can’t help but fall in love with the characters of Jade and Hudson. Hudson tells Jade that they “need each other.” Jade is starting to believe this and also starts to have something that she hasn’t for a long time, hope. If any couple deserves happiness it would be these two. Reading this story was very emotional and had me in tears in some parts. I found myself not wanting to put the book down until I had read the last page. This is a beautiful romance story that I highly recommend getting lost in for the afternoon. I look forward to reading more of the author’s books in the future.

The Truth About Falling is a standalone novel H.M. Sholander. This is my first novel by this author.

Jade Hart is twenty- one working two jobs to support her parents. She works as a bartender and mechanic. Her mother has a heart disease and her father doesn't seem like he cares at all.

‘Life is a balancing act of learning how to manage responsibilities, free time, and relationships. I’m failing at all three.”

She changed her career path, going to school to take care of her mother but its starting to take a toll on her. Her personality has changed where she doesn't let anyone in and constantly wonders if she made the right decision to stay.

Until she meets Hudson at the bar she works. They run into each other at a few places and eventually start talking, opening up to each other.

“All I want is for someone to see past my hard exterior, but that would require me letting someone in, and that’s not something I do. The past can scar you, ruining you more than you ever thought possible. Most guys don’t want complicated women with wounds hidden beneath the surface. They want easy, and I am far from easy.”

While this novel does have the relationship between Jade and Hudson it is mainly the love between mother and daughter and coming to terms with each others decision.

I cried so many times while reading this book. I understood Jade’s feelings of sacrificing school and working to help her Mom only to feel like it was wasted because of her mother’s decision. And I understood her Mom’s decision. She wanted Jade to finally live and find peace.

While I wasn't a fan of her father, I did wonder what happened to him. Maybe there will be a side story telling his story.

H.M Scholander shines in a story about two people struggling with life falling in love. Jade Hart works two full time jobs to support her mother through a coronary heart disease as her dad is reluctant to help or get a job himself. One day, she serves a customer at the bar who is mysterious and handsome. she runs into him again at her job as a mechanic and becomes drawn to him as he lives nearby to her own trailer. Despite her mother's continuing falling health and Hudson's child, they form a friendship and support each other through the hard times. They keep going through the little free time they both have and understand that to struggle is okay. Jade's mother continues to get worse until she is in hospital full time. Jade is nearly arrested for violent behaviour towards her dad after he just ups and leaves. She goes back to see her mother and go to Chris' birthday party. she manages to struggle along until the inevitable comes and her mother dies. Hudson and her friend Kristy support her through it and she eventually decides to get a college educations he always wanted and a house. In the end, she realises it was a better idea to let people into her life instead of push them away
An immensely enjoyable read. Beautifully written. Well developed characters. The sense of a useless father figure was relatable and emotive. Jade's struggles were pitiable and the scenes with her mother were emotive and sweet at the same time. I also loved the theme of art and Jade's passion for drawing. A captivating plot. Overall, a book that I just couldn't put down and I would give it five stars.

The Truth About Falling by H.M. Sholander is one of those books that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go until the final page. It’s the story of twenty-one-year-old Jade who has given up her dreams to take care of her parents. Her mother is very ill and her father is lazy so it has fallen to Jade to take care of everything, leaving little for Jade in her own life.
Jade meets Hudson one night at work and she sees in him some of the traits she carries, he looks sad and stressed, just like she does. She is curious about him and thinks maybe he might understand a little bit of what she is going through.
Throughout the book Hudson teaches Jade that it’s ok to feel a little selfish, and to not feel guilty over wanting something of her own even if it’s something as simple as taking an hour for herself free from work and worries over her mom. He teaches her how to play again, something she’s been missing for a long time and most of all he teaches her not to fear falling.
I adored this story, it wasn’t your ordinary young adult romance by any stretch of the imagination. It made me think about what I would do if I were in Jade’s shoes, could I put all my wants and dreams aside to help my family? The characters were so believable, I just loved the relationship that Jade had with her mom too, it was so realistic I found myself getting mad with Jade, and sad with her, feeling her pain, love and anger through each page and I didn’t want the book to end. I have to say that I think I found myself another go to author.

From the very first sentence I was connected to the soul of Jade.
Jade: “Life is a balancing act of learning how to manage responsibilities, free time, and relationships. I’m failing at all three.” Jade is such a selfless person. Giving so much and yet not allowing anything or any time for herself, she has forgotten how to since she has left her dreams behind to take care of her mother and father. She is the type of soul I understand, one that wants to heal and fix all the broken ones out there. I tell you this book had me in tears and just gripped from page one to the very end in one sitting. It is not a shock to me because I have very much grown to love the seamless and talented writing of HM Scholander. She can take a character and write it to life as if the word float off the page and form the person in front of you. I do have to say this is now my new favorite of hers though and I thought that was going to be a difficult one to beat, so hands down Scholander.
Jade and Hudson are the absolute perfect pair for each other. You will find yourself wanting to cheer them on and crying, throwing things, or having a temper tantrum when it feels like things are in a crisis they won’t be able to get through. Definitely grab a comfy spot and get settled because you will be in for a wonderful story of love and two people finding their way in a world where its is hard enough to survive in even on your own.

Wow. One of the most incredible y/a books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. This is my first book by H. M. Sholander, and this book and author has made a beautiful impression.

Reading The Truth About Falling was devastating. Reaching the end was magical. The ending so perfect, I could not imagine any other. I had this lump in my throat from beginning to end, that just never went away. Big things would happen. I was sure of it. Jade affected me on a very deep, emotional level. I just couldn't wait to see what could possibly happen next. It was an emotionally taxing read, but one I will always treasure. Hudson was tenacous in his determination to share the load with her. She tried everything, and I mean everything, to not let him into her heart. She had this totally misguided impression of herself and what she deserved. Thank the heavens for Hudson.

The Truth About Falling was a deeply moving story that affected me down to the depths of my soul. It was harrowing. It was upsetting. It was incredibly well written. It was raw. It was honest. It was exquisite. It was arousing. It was innocent. It was about love. It was about loss. It was about heartache and devastation. It was about discovering beauty from the ashes. It was about acceptance. It was about becoming complete. This story had it ALL. The highest praise goes to H. M. Sholander and the magnificent story. 5 superb stars

The Truth About Falling- H. M. Sholander

The Truth About Falling by H. M. Sholander is a fantastic book! It’s honestly the perfect rainy day read; it’s a sad yet beautiful story that I got completely swept up in. It was definitely an emotional read for me, I experienced so much sadness, pity, and anger and I shed quite a few tears.

Jade, the main character, has experienced so much grief in life, she took on the caretaker role at a young age, which changed her immensely. She became so guarded and unhappy yet that didn’t stop her. Normally characters like Jade frustrate me as they can’t find anything positive in life yet I didn’t feel that way with Jade. She was an inspirational character; she was honest, selfless and strong. I loved reading how her character developed from the start to finish. I also enjoyed how this was more about Jade’s self discovery and less about her relationship with Hudson, but that being said I would definitely like to read more about them.

This story had me questioning my whole life and all the things that I take for granted. This story really opened up my eyes and in a good way. Sometimes all it takes is a great book to make you question and change your whole life. This was my first book by H. M. Sholander and it couldn’t have been better, I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. The Truth About Falling is a book that I would definitely recommend.

My heart cannot take anymore. This made me so sad and yet so happy at the same time. How does that work?

Jade, poor, Jade, has to work two jobs to pay for her mothers surgery. Her mother is sick and she is trying everything she can to pay for this, as her dad is just a useless waste of space. All of this is taking a toll on Jade and it is hard to overcome what she has had to face.

'I wish someone could fix me. I might not be broken on the outside, but on the inside, I'm decaying into nothing. It didn't happen overnight. It was the small things that built up overtime, and eventually it got to be too much.'

Hudson is awesome. He is the best dad in the world, dressing up as Darth Vader got my vote. He is doing everything he can for his child, even though he does not have much to give.

I honestly loved this story. Both Hudson and Jade have been through so much, in their young lives, that would make a lot of people go crazy and yet, all it did was bring them together.

Overall, this book spoke to me. The words were so powerful and at times inspiring. It made me so sad to read because it felt like I was there with Jade and Hudson. There were parts of the book made me sad. But I knew it was necessary.

'The truth is I'm not the same person I was yesterday, and I won't be the same tomorrow. I'm evolving, changing, every second that I breathe.'

This was a great story! It was at times very emotional on the happy and sad side. I loved the cover of the book and the story on the inside only made it better. Hudson (I love his name) was amazing in all ways. I could totally picture him via the lovely description. He is that quiet intense guy. I liked how he lit up when he was speaking of his son. I could almost picture it. His voice and his actions (swoon) speak of the wonderful guy he is.

There is also a story about the relationship between Jade and her mother that filled the pages. Their story is also full of love. The love of a parent and their child. The flashbacks were great and added so much to the story. I really felt for Jade during some of these moments.

The secondary characters were described very well. I could almost picture them and their sassiness. The relationship between Kristy (co-worker) and Jason is great to read about. I agree with Jade...they are perfect for each other. I often wondered what the deal was with Joey? I almost think he liked Jade but never acted on it.

This is a new to me author and with the flow and easy enjoyment I got out of the book I will look up her others and give them a go.

The Truth About Falling
By H.M. Sholander
5 Stars

The Truth About Falling by H.M. Sholander is a five star read and has two amazing characters Jade and Hudson. Are there men in the real world, who will fight for the woman they love because she can no longer fight for herself? Hudson is willing to fight for Jade, so I want a man who will do that for the woman he loves.

Jade is an amazingly strong character, a lot stronger then she gives herself credit for, she feels like all she brings is darkness to the people she cares for. Her world changed when she was seventeen and instead of going to college she is working two jobs and taking care of her mother.

Hudson is taking care of himself and his young son, after being dealt his own horrible tragedy. He meets Jade at the bar she works at and they begin a shaky friendship. As their friendship grows so do their feelings, they need each other and are truly good for each other.

This is the first story I have read by this author and it will not be the last. I absolutely loved these two characters and the author did an amazing job of making me feel their pain. I highly recommend this story but have a box of tissues and maybe a glass of wine.
