I am not sure how to gather my thoughts on this book, or really, the series. The fact that I read through the 10 books at a quick pace obviously speaks to the author’s ability to capture the readers interest, becoming fully vested in the characters, needing to see them safely to the end (or demise, whatever the case may be). I enjoyed the depth and variety of characters woven through the series. At times I couldn’t put it down and others I longed for the endless details to abbreviate and get to the point. But really, overall. I enjoyed it.
My criticisms are much the same as with the watchers series (speaking of which, I found some strong parallels between the two, both in characters and storylines). First, for the love of everything good, get a thesaurus! I never want to hear the words facade, sycophant, or speak of someone’s lips curling to name just a few of the words that were used in excess.. Seriously, find new adjectives. Also, I don’t know why it bothers me so much, but the European spelling of words for a series set in America drives me crazy too (ie defense vs defense). And finally, as with the other series there are grammatical and spelling errors that would, and should, be caught by a good editors.
I’m off to find out what happens to Kira. 😉
