Cromwell has been taken. Brie and Zander must go after him. And over in the city of Haven, the war rages on… Return to Haven one final time in the pulsating, breathtaking GRAND FINALE of the Enhanced Series.
Oh my Lawdy... what an ending! It hurt so good, and just made me think of my brother. Damn this was good. I might actually read the other series that are within The Enhanced Universe.
Bloody well done, T.C. for keeping me on my toes and sticking it right in the feels.
I really liked reading this book, so many battles happening on all fronts. I would have liked more of a Headache ending but that is just me although I understand the reasons why the author chose to end it the way he did. I will miss these characters. Brie, Zander, Adrian and Rhoth who were always in the thick of things. Looking forward to finding out more about Kira and her abduction.
I am not sure how to gather my thoughts on this book, or really, the series. The fact that I read through the 10 books at a quick pace obviously speaks to the author’s ability to capture the readers interest, becoming fully vested in the characters, needing to see them safely to the end (or demise, whatever the case may be). I enjoyed the depth and variety of characters woven through the series. At times I couldn’t put it down and others I longed for the endless details to abbreviate and get to the point. But really, overall. I enjoyed it.
My criticisms are much the same as with the watchers series (speaking of which, I found some strong parallels between the two, both in characters and storylines). First, for the love of everything good, get a thesaurus! I never want to hear the words facade, sycophant, or speak of someone’s lips curling to name just a few of the words that were used in excess.. Seriously, find new adjectives. Also, I don’t know why it bothers me so much, but the European spelling of words for a series set in America drives me crazy too (ie defense vs defense). And finally, as with the other series there are grammatical and spelling errors that would, and should, be caught by a good editors.
This book was gripping and powerful. Throughout the series, there has been a lot of character growth. A lot of introspection in these books, too much in my opinion. It was almost like someone trying to fill an essay with as many words as possible, but it was saying the same thing over and over, just in different ways. This one wasn’t always so bad, there was mostly non-stop action in this one. I didn’t always like Brie’s reaction to things, but understood in a way too. I appreciate this wasn’t a romance, but if it’s going to be mentioned at all, it could be expanded upon. For instance, did she ever feel like Adryan loved her for herself and not the shadow of his late wife? I wish there had been more information on that front. As is, it’s not really understandable. My heart was completely broken in this book. Would’ve been hard to lose any of the main characters, but that one.... no words. The relationship in that one was beautiful, would have liked to see it go on. Overall, I did enjoy this series, and the characters were great. Could really use good editing though.
I loved this series from beginning to end. It's my favorite TC series. I loved the way he wrapped it up in the end and I really had no idea which way it would go. I read a ridiculous amount of books and this was one of few that I couldn't guess the ending to. I love being surprised. I only wish there would of been a bit more to Adryan and Bries love story. Maybe a stolen moment of heat or a bit more passion. Something that really solidified their love more than an I love you through a communicator. I only say this because at the end of one of the books in the series I seriously questioned his love for her. I wish there would of been a bit more there. Although I was saddened by Zander's death I did feel it was necessary. I was happy to see Rycard alive. This book tied everything together nicely and I almost though he was going to pull a GRR Martin and kill everyone off or a "Skeletin Key" (the movie) where the bad guys win. All in all definitely worth the read. Would make an awesome movie/tv series.
This series has a good story, and I liked the characters. My only issue, and this continued through all 10 books, is the repetitiveness of all the statements. I can only read "I hate him" (in different words or the same, doesn't matter) so many times before I am sick of hearing it. So, in the later books, I found that I could spot another paragraph that would summarize the same feelings again and I was skipping paragraphs because it was just text with nothing actually happening. The character's inner dialogue was not that important in the story... which brings me to think that this might be nit-picky and maybe this was just a younger reading level (a teen might need these things spelled out for them). However, I would not want my young child reading about the wars, because of the (very well done) descriptions of blood and gore. So, good reads, they drew me in and kept me reading, but I could have used less repetition over the known info and known feelings.
Aww, such a long journey has concluded. And I can tell I am very satisfied.
So many emotions in this last book, or as Brie would describe it "a cocktail of emotions running." I enjoyed this book so much because I could never guess what it was going to happen next. The full tale was about action, drama, war, soldiers and sorrow. At some point I even got desperate because the action would not stop. That however was what kept me reading until the very end.
The book was unpredictable. Oh my god, I never saw it coming. "I'm never going to let you die today, Brie..." I was done. I never thought he actually was going to keep that promise. Yes, him. :(
Anyway, I'm glad I finished this series! They were good, and I would totally recommend it to anyone who likes distopyan worlds and action and war. Thanks so much T.C. Edge for writing this story! I'll be waiting for Kira's story.
I absolutely loved this series!! Colourful characters, exciting action, unusual abilities, heart warming and heart breaking all at the same time, it had everything I could ever ask for in a story line. I'm a complete book worm and I can honestly say this is one of my all time favourites. I do love a strong female lead and Brie doesn't disappoint, total hats off to Toby for this imaginative and roller coaster of a ride. I'm feeling a bit lost now the series is finished, but never fear, there's more books to read that I'm sure will be just as compelling. Well done for making me cry like a baby while reading a book (something I haven't done since reading flowers in the attic as a teenager!!) Awesome!!! Would give ten 🌟 if I could, and will definitely be recommending this series to anyone who will listen to me!!
This entire series was wonderful. It has been a wild ride with Brie and I have enjoyed every minute of it. This conclusion wrapped up a lot of the story, though there were a few loose ends. Perhaps T.C. is holding onto those to include in other stories, or perhaps there was just no logical way to answer every question I had. In any case, I walk away from this story feeling satisfied. I grew to love the characters over the course of the story, and I was emotionally invested in what happened to them. I definitely had tears in my eyes for a lot of the end, and that is pretty rare for me. It speaks highly of T.C.'s ability to craft characters and situations that resonate with his readers. I highly recommend this series, and know you won't regret it if you give it a try!
I really enjoyed this series. This book did tie up most of the loose ends, but I didn't think it was necessary to kill off that particular main character. I would really like to read the alternate ending the author mentions at the end of the book. I also would have liked more interaction between Adryan and Brie. Though this series wasn't a love story per se, their interactions and mission were a big part of a couple of books. So in that regard, I don't feel this particular loose end was tied up very well. All in all, it was a good ending to the series.
There are those of us that read a book that has touched of us to the core that once the series is over, we mourn. We can not immediately rush off to another book and dive right in. This is one of those series. I fell in love with the characters and this series. I’m not gonna love, it ripped a hole in my heart when I read about a few deaths. Without giving away who, I felt the pain the deaths had on everyone. I so recommend reading this series. You won’t regret it.
I have now read all 10 of these books and they are the most fantastic series I have ever read. From the first to the last they keep the reader enthralled! The relationships between the main characters are complicated but endearing and the end of book 10 ties everything together. I cannot recommend a better series of books to read and am now quite sad that they're finished! Well done to the author!!!!
I really doubted book 10 in a series would still hold my interest and I'm happy to report that I was wrong. After devouring book 9, I immediately downloaded book 10 at 3 am. Now at noon I'm done. The same thoughtful writing with such wonderful descriptions of the characters feelings/actions. I truly enjoyed this series.
Ok I knew what was coming but I have to say I also was kicked in the heart. Yes I cried for many of the characters. They all lost someone. But you sure know how to grip your readers emotions. Thanks Oh and I've read the books with Kira, and yes please continue with some of these characters.
So glad I discovered this series after it’s completion because I am NOT good with cliffhangers! Having said that, I’m pretty sure I’ve spent the past 30-45 minutes ugly crying! I can’t really say any more without dropping spoilers, but I’m definitely going to check out the offshoot series!
I have the omnibus edition of this series so will just say that book ten delivers a great conclusion - plenty of action, thoughts, feelings, highs, lows and twists, turns and surprises.
Fast-paced with great characters and plot.
And yes, there's more that connects the Enhanced with other stories, including the Prime.
It was so hard to put this book down. Even towards the end when I was literally snot crying and wiping at my eyes and nose furiously so I could see through the tears coating my lashes. SPOILER!! YOU WILL WANT TO HAVE TISSUES HANDY!
I enjoyed the book and it ended the series well. It was a bit sad but also a happy ending for a story of war. I like Edge's stories as the they kept my interest over the ten books. I feel sure that the author will write more stories expanding on the world he has created.
Each book dragged on somewhat and as I waited for Brie's love interest to develop, got more frustrated with each book and clifhanger. I usually love to read a book series but did not have the patience for this one.
There was so much war and heartache and bravery and courage to those who wished to be free, to have goodness triumph over evil. It’s definitely worth reading and was near impossible to put down! This author has a true gift for storytelling!
I read many books and series. This one for some reason just got to me. I feel so strongly for brie and zander that it was sad at the end so many lost but so much brought to light at the end. Great story thank you for writing such an amazing series.
I am missing them already. You have created characters who come the life and feel like true friends. You ended the series well. That's hard to do with so many involved in this series. Excellent
And it ends. I cried a lot. But I smiled too. The whole 10 book series spanned only a few months, but it was a mighty, intense, heart wrenching, heartwarming story that I'm glad I got to read to the end of.
I absolutely loved the bro-sis relationship...reminded me of my bro & I (altho we aren’t twins haha) Book is filled with wonderful characters and even cooler abilities! When you cannot wait for the next book, then that’s an excellent series!
A nice completion to this story. I look forward to more from this author. The dialogue was great, the story has matured as it moved along. I can hardly wait for his next project.
Each book in this series makes you do excited to read the next the main character is fantastically loveable and courages . can't wait for his next book xx
