Rate this book
A smart, actionable guide to help women take control of their sexual health and learn about vital information in a pro-pleasure, safety-first, and sex-positive way from a leader in sexual education for the GirlBoss generation.

Women are suffering—especially in the eighteen to thirty age range. They’re suffering from misinformation, fear, intimidation. They’re worried about the side effects of birth control, confused about consent, sexuality, and cheating, and don’t know when or always even where to seek medical attention. Women need answers from someone they trust, from a partner. And Get on Top is that partner.

Written by the creator of the Get On Top national campaign, cofounder of Sustain all-natural sexual wellness products, and daughter of the founder of the billion-dollar green company, Seventh Generation, this book helps women access all the facts they need to make smart, healthy, and safe choices when it comes to sex by continuing the conversation, by answering questions, and by providing the information in a relatable and totally normal way. Meika answers questions similar to those she receives every day from the thousands of readers and listeners of the GetOnTop campaign and fans of the green brands, Sustain and Seventh Generation. It’s a chance to give conversational advice to readers.

Chapters include topics such as birth control, STDs, sex, masturbation, and what PH is and why it’s important. Meika answers all of the questions women have about sex in an unselfconscious, straightforward, real, and enlightening way. Not sexed up, not sleazy. Just smart, actionable information for any and all sexual questions. Not only will it teach women everything they need to know about their bodies, Get on Top will also change the way women think about sexual health.

This book is great for younger people (13-16) with little to no knowledge of how their bodies work.

I found most of this book to be things I already know - birth control, STDs, etc. I was hoping this book would focus on the founding of Sustain as a company revolutionizing the industry of sex and female wellness products, but it did not.

I did find it interesting to learn about the ingredients of products from tampons to pads to condoms. I learned that these industries are not required to post exact ingredients on their packaging so it can be very difficult to know what you're probably inside your body - toxic bleaches and chemicals. There are even vegan condoms because some condoms have casein (dairy protein) on them. Very interesting to learn for me, as a vegetarian who scrutinizes the ingredients list of my foods, but cannot do the same for these other products.

I do appreciate that Meika is writing this book to destigmatize sex and the female body. My favorite quote from the book is "our culture is overtly sexual while also sexually repressed in so many ways".

I was immediately drawn in by this clever cover, but that's about where my love for this book ended. It wasn't bad per se, but I was hoping it would have a lot more new information. This book is honestly geared at high school girls who no little to nothing about sexuality and their bodies. There wasn't anything new or groundbreaking in this book other than questioning what ingredients are in tampons. I think this would be a great read for young adults or those who skipped over health class, other than that it's all common knowledge. It talks about the difference between birth controls, sexually transmitted diseases, periods, sex, masturbation, and anatomy. Underwhelming.

I thought this was geared at a high school aged woman’s knowledge and therefore got nothing out of this. I would recommend to that age group, but this was like health class all over again, nothing more.

I was looking for a different kind of content altogether. It is a great for younger audience, specially girls who haven't received quality sex education. This gives a good stepping stone for the subject and such a positive and non judgemental way. There was some interesting points and few valid reminders for adults as well. I listened this as an audio and it was easier to ignore things that weren't valid or informative for myself.

It’s a great little book for young women both pre and post pubescent - not so excellent for adults. Information on the anatomy of the vulva/vagina, discharge, common conditions, sex, etc. Everything a young lady might need to understand about her body that she might not get as information from school or her parents.

I don’t feel like I learned anything new. I was expecting usable information and suggestions that would be eye opening. Definitely good for people who are planning to have sex or aren’t getting what they want from public education. High schools would be great for this information.

Informative and easily digestible. This being ok is focused almost exclusively on those with vaginas. At times the s can be heteronormative but I think it acknowledges that.

It’s short and easy to read so would be great for teens as a sex education primer.

I reckon this is basically everything you learn in sex ed class. Since we don't have a sex ed class in school (boo), this is pretty useful.

Great intro if you want to know what is going on down there. If you already know, pass this on to someone who doesn’t. This is what should be taught in sex Ed if Sex Ed was being taught in schools.

Very basic, but a great introduction to sex! Everything in this book should be common knowledge.

This book is geared toward a younger set and it might be a solid introduction to body parts, the (horrific) deprioritization of women's pleasure, all about contraception, masturbation, and more. I can imagine how this could have comprehensively answered outstanding questions when I was 13 or 14. Why did I read this? Because I heard about it through an article with the author, who worked on a sustainable condom initiative. Her parents founded Seventh Generation.
