Endric returns to Vasha after discovering his connection to the Antrilii and how they serve the north but finds that much has changed, including his relationship with Senda and Pendin. As he struggles to understand how he can serve the Denraen, he learns that the Denraen hold Urik—and that his father has granted him the freedom of the city.
Urik isn’t done plotting and Endric fears that whatever he intends is the reason Mage Tresten has disappeared. Discovering those answers will put Endric at odds with the Denraen and sends him on a journey that leads to even more understanding about his role in the Denraen and the Conclave.
Endric continues to gain strength in various things including knowledge and what it meats to be a Denraen soldier. And now he will be learning more now that he belongs to the conclave. But what does that mean going forward as he continues to learn about his life and what he wants? Only time will tell.
Still keeping good. I pretty much read this in a single day, as the first one was low on progress. This is going to be one of my favorite series, not like there was much doubt after the second or third book. --- So, Endric finally returns home after the events of third book, only to see that things are quite strange. Tresten, who called for his return, is gone and presumed dead. Urik is somewhat free, his friends are distant and Endric of course has no clue what was going on, or what is going on now. And he does not even know where to start asking, not that he would be given a real chance... and starts questioning if the year away has done any good. When he finally starts getting some information, he's pulled (literally) out of the city again and as it seems to be with Endric, without having a clue where or why is he going (or made going for at least some part). Endric's limited understanding is tested again, as is his talent for surviving very bad situations. Guess that's as much I'll say with (almost) no spoilers...
Endric continues to learn more about himself and his place in the world. Should he remain in Vasha & serve the Denraen? Should he return to his ancestral lands in the north and serve the Antrilii? Should he serve the Conclave as Trestan tells him with his last breath? Perhaps Endric will find a way to serve all three.
Soldier Saved is a slower-paced story that offers a fuller glimpse into the world that Endric is struggling to figure out. The reader is given a more detailed understanding of who Endric is, where he might be going, and even some hints as to how he will get himself there. It remains to be seen if he will figure out his place.
I am really enjoying seeing the evolution of Endric into the person he becomes in earlier books. He is an amazing hero and I am enjoying this series very much. The only trouble I have with it is it never enough. I am really looking forward to the next one. If you haven't read any books by DO Holmberg, you need to do so. You will not go wrong with any of his books. I love his heroes and villains and I never can guess what is going to happen. That is a big plus for me. No graphic language or sex either, if you are looking for a clean read, this is for you. Even if that is not important to you, you will still love this!
Not as good as the previous book. It was tending towards 3 stars until the last third bailed it out. Endric returns to Vasha after a year away. He finds much much has changed while he's been away. His friends treat him differently and even though he still holds an officer's rank, he finds himself without any duties. This changes when he finds himself outside the city once again through no choice of his own.
Endric has grown through the books of the series, a proper approach for a series. The plot continues to be interesting and the book is well-written. I do wonder why so many English writers confuse THEN and THAN !
It has been an awesome, incredible, ever twisting of mind body and soul to be able to take this journey with Edric and his companions. And, his ever New found enemies? What begins now that he has found the Conclave? Hmmmmmm
The saga continues and it still is as good as the previous books. You'll love the characters and the story in this series. Highly recommend! Great Reading Everyone!!!!!!!
Meh. That's basically how I feel about the book. The arc is pretty much obvious and the action is overshadowed by endric doubting himself continuously. I found it boring. The only reason I finished is that it's a short book and I wanted to know if I was right about how events would turn out. I was, and this is the last book of the series I'll read.
