I read this book to help with getting our 3 year old off diapers. There are quite a few good tricks in here and it gives you several pointers on what to do if you experience setbacks or pushbacks. I think especially for first time parents looking to get some assistance with quitting diapers, this book can be a good help.
I'd say it is between a 3 and a 4 star rating for me, mostly because it could easily be 50 pages shorter and it would still feel as effective for me, but I can understand if some people prefer it to be longer to really help and correct their insecurities regarding weaning their kids off diapers.
As for quitting in 3 days - he went from diapers 24/7 to quitting completely on a Monday morning, had accidents the first two days and the first two nights, and then carried on using just the toilet, never looking back. Great success. :-)
Good literature for those brave souls who embark on the complicated journey of potty training. I liked it for several reasons: Short! Parents don't have all the time in the world to read volumes of information Clear chapters, short messages on how to approach various situations Clear, not complicated language. I'm not a native speaker of Swedish and yet I read the book in 1.5 days.
Just to be clear this book is not scientific, rather motivational. It's the author's point of view so you will find no footnotes, sources or similar references.
It did however put me in the right mindset and according to their definition my child succeeded in less than three days (more credit to them than the book's method).
Quick read. I'm a slow reader but most likely could've read through this in an evening thanks to a large font and generous spacing.
The book fails to answer many crucial questions in potty training, such as: what happens if the child gets sick during the training and you have to stop it for several days, how to address holding (which seems to be major issue with potty training), for how long is it medically safe and recommended for a toddler to hold its peeing, etc. Overall, the book gives false expectations that the training can happen smoothly if only the parent is patient but does not provide any practical guidance in case some problems occurs (the only advice seems to be stay positive); the FAQ at the end of the book seem selective and, in my opinion, address only a very small part of the issues a parent can face during potty training (from what I read in forums, not sure that the FAQs are even the common problems faced in potty training).
