Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!
With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.

January 4, 2018Sadly I just couldn't get into this book. This happens to me very often with this author. I wanted to like it cause I adore virginal heroines but I'm afraid this author's writing is bland. But this is just my personal taste other people might love it!

Sweet read. Liked both hero and heroine.
Good story line.
But I found the writing to be abrupt and confusing at times. Wordage was odd and you go from one scene to the next and can become totally lost.

Nik Latsis is a Greek shipping magnate who took over the company when his father died. But prior to this, he was a war correspondent, and on his last assignment his beloved friend and cameraman died in his arms. He is still haunted by his nightmares. One night shortly after he returned home he met a spirited and lovely woman, Chloe, with whom he had a one night stand (first names only), but left in the middle of the night when he received a tragic phone call. He hasn’t been able to forget her either.

This was soooooo boring! I felt like I was watching paint dry. They have a one night stand and 18 months later they meet up again. She has scarring from a bad accident and thinks she's no good. Plus the hero took her virginity and left in the middle of the night. He has ptsd because his best friend got killed and he lived and has nightmares/ptsd and I really didn't like him. I almost dnf'd it but I am glad that I finished it There is a scene with a little girl at an awards ceremony for burn victims that was very touching and I really liked that. Then he realized he really loved her and HEA. Just didn't work for me. His celibacy during separation was hazy until he decided not to use her for sex like he did with other women just to forget his dead friend for a few minutes. The friend had died right before he met the heroine. But it was a one night stand. So it's not cheating but.... She of course was celibate because she was humiliated when she woke up alone and she thought it was a love connection.

Stars 3 ~ I love when a romance starts from the hero's point of view. This one starts with Nik reliving in a dream the raw one night experience he shared with a beautiful stranger. But the dream quickly morphs into the nightmare that has plagued him every night of his best friend's violent death while they were on assignment. It's now 18 months since that raw one night with the woman he only knew as Chloe, and he's no longer a war correspondent but the head of the family shipping conglomerate.
Though her specialist has urged her to undergo one more surgery on the horrendous burn scars that mar her once beautiful legs, Chloe feels good about her decision to say no. She'd had enough of burn units as a patient, now her goal was to establish a foundation that would support dedicated burn centers that offered total rehabilitation, physical and psychological. With the help of her friend, Tatiana, they hosted a who's who fund raiser evening. Much to Chloe's shock, the much praised brother of her friend is none other than the Nik she'd given her virginity too; the man who did a runner before she woke up.
Ms. Lawrence has a knack for creating characters that are easy to like. Both Nik and Chloe have traumas that they have to face and overcome. Luckily for Nik, Chloe knows just what buttons to push to get him to open up. These two have a magnetic explosive chemistry which was great fun to read.

I didn't like it, the beginning was promising but I got so sick of reading about heroine's insecurity of her scars and hero's PTSD. Also I thought hero was probably celibate during separation (when he saw heroine again he thinks about her awakening his sleeping libido) but then near the end it's revealed that he has had sex with other women but does not stay longer than an hour or two because of his nightmares. I wanted to like the heroine but she was kind of mean to the hero, comments she made to him were unnecessary. Also did not feel like I really knew the characters, their ages weren't even revealed. Np.

Al principio no entendía bien lo de los tiempos, no especifica en ningún lado que había pasado un año y pico hasta que después de leer bastante me di cuenta, eso ya me cabreo bastante y está buena pero algo le faltaba, no se que pero a pesar de que ambos protagonistas son fuertes y débiles a la vez, del amor, la amistad y los problemas a los que se enfrentan me quedo la sensación que le faltó algo a la historia.

2.5 stars. The writing in this book was confusing, especially at the beginning of the book, where I had no clue if something was present or in the past. I also found the point of view changed at weird spots, as well mid chapter breaks also happened at odd spots, neither related to a change of POV or scene change. While I was interested in the book all the way through, I found these two characters hard to connect with, I also had a hard time believing there love. Overall, maybe an OK story.

Herói descompensado, relacionamento tóxico, atitudes de agressão verbal. Não importa se ele é rico e lindo, agressão é agressão.

I found that Chloe was a strong figure in this story. Chloe and Nik had a one night stand. They meet over a year later and Nik finds that Chloe isn’t going to be easy to get together with again. They both have flaws and need to work them out!

Wow. I've never read a book that's written worse than this one. I tried to re-read each page I was on but nothing makes sense. She's all over the map (map of the galaxies if I may) in each paragraph. The metaphors as references to past incidences are a smorgasbord of "rubbish" writing. Avoid.

Nik and Chloe have both suffered in the past and have coped in different ways, a one night stand and a meeting plus mutual friends later down the line makes this a very heartfelt read.
