Could my perfect guy be the one I've walked by everyday? Dating and me go together like ham and vanilla ice cream. It doesn't matter who I swipe right on or how I mingle, every man I meet is garbage. How can such a big city be full of such pricks? Just when I think it can't get worse, one of my bad dates stalks me to my high rise apartment. He'd have gotten to me—hurt me—if my door man hadn't stopped him. Who is this guy? Has he always been so tough? And so... sexy? I never noticed it until now, but he's tastier than pancakes on a Sunday morning. Except good looks and chivalry do not a boyfriend make. Plus, if things go south like they always do, I'll have to walk by him every single day. I'm not moving-- rent in this city is outlandish. So I swear I won't get too close. Then we match online. Then he sexts me. Then I see just what he's packing in those trousers. Have a guess how this ends? Spoilers: I 100% end up in his bed.
This is a standalone novel with a HEA and NO cheating! And as an exclusive bonus, I've put one of my most popular romances inside-- The Pool Boy! Penny Wylder writes just that-- wild romances. Happily Ever Afters are always better when they're a little dirty, so if you're looking for a page turner that will make you feel naughty in all the right places, jump right in and leave your panties at the door!
Nobody does intense, over the top sex scenes like Penny Wylder. When you start skimming over sex scenes because there is so much of it, it kinda defeats the purpose. I loved Zayne. He was a smoking hot, dirty talking, alpha. I like this story but it's like 80+% sex. I needed a little more meat, not man-meat lol.
ARC received by author in exchange for an honest review
I enjoyed this one very much! It al went so fast, but still so fun and HOT!
On a very bad evening she really sees Zayne he comes to her rescue and so the fun and hotness begins. Somethings I forgot could happen they still made me aware that you always need to be careful what you share! You never know what may happen or who to trust.
When it al started to unfold a bit I had a feeling of who it could be and I was right! *dance in a circle* I'm almost never right so let's celebrate.
Zayne is a stunning doorman who has a past he rather forgets but that isn't as easy as just walking away, that needs a lot more attention. When the wrong attention goes out to Clove he finally sees in that he needed to come clean from the start.
This is a SHORT very very HOT and STEAMY read with a side of drama that you didn't see coming until you are in it!
There is zero denying that this story is a dirty smuttastic read. It's chock full of lengthy, descriptive happy-fun-time, but... for me, it was almost *too* much.
I struggled also with some of the bdsm overtones, specifically the name calling. How quickly this occurred with no indication that it was something the heroine was into didn't sit right with me for some reason... and even though naturally, she was into it, it just felt "off".
I realise writing this review, that I didn't actually bond with either lead character, so that's on me.
I found Clove all over the place & a little lacking backbone, and sexiest thing about Zayne was his name.
I wanted more from the plot/story/characters - and although a lot is packed in at the end (which to me gave it the feeling of being rushed & wrapped up for the sake of it almost) - I felt like there were a lot of loose ends. Having no epilogue, which we generally get from this author, didn't help me either.
Anyway, no one's more shocked than I am that I didn't mega-love a read filled with descriptive sex & bdsm overtones, but there you go. Maybe I'm deeper than I thought when it comes to quick smutty treats??
However, plenty of others have loved it before me & will after me, so decide for yourselves.
I'm still a PWyld fan, but clearly this one just wasn't *my* thing.
He's been her doorman for 2 years and in short she's never noticed him until a bad date went wrong and he saved the day. That, and he always wore a low brow hat. They begin to date & he asks her for a nude selfie. She's trusts him so send him a topless pic with her face present.
Disclaimer: It gets leaked. A website is set up with the caption "slut for hire". Comments. Info leaked.
People get suicidal from that shit. Career ruined. Employability shot. Reputation gone. Privacy invaded. Trust broken.
So when we find out it's his crazy ex of 3 years who is responsible - that sent up red flags. Because 1. He says "she's leaked photos of multiple girls I've dated - so it has happened before". Wtf dude? Why didn't he warn her before he asked her to send that shit? Red flag 2. Then he says she's in tech so she knows how to hack. Red flag 3. This behaviour only stopped as recently as a year ago when he got a restraining order. Get out of my fictional sight you bastard. Up until that point the book was actually alright.
And she just... forgives him and says SHE'S sorry he had to deal with that. Um HELLO? He didn't even tell her this information on the spot when she informed him they got leaked. He withheld, reluctant to tell her about the ex. And then the rest of it was just distasteful because she reads all of his sext texts to other girls. It was before they got together - but - I swear vomit crawled up the back of my throat there. And yet... they still screw in public knowing a nutcase is on the loose. Wonderful. Not even going to lie, when the crazy chick beat her up, I didn't even feel bad.
Quick smutty read. I couldn't get into this one for some reason. It wasn't bad, and I thought the main plot sounded good. It just never drew me in. It took me a couple days to get through it.
If you like Penny Wylder I'd definitely check it out though.
Meh, I was a little annoyed by the "crazy ex-girlfriend" trope, it kinda made Zayne less sexy and appealing IMHO. I think it would have been a more interesting twist if
Also, call me a snob and a pessimist but am I really supposed to believe this smart and successful modern woman is going to have a meaningful relationship with the doorman for her apartment building? A person whom she practically ignored the first 2 years she lived in the building? Nah, I'm not buying it. A few months of hot sex and that will fizzle out pretty quickly into an awkward "Oh crap, I can't go home right now. Zayne, my ex is working the door tonight" situation.
I was expecting more sexts in this book, well since the title is literally SEXT. but i enjoyed the sex scenes, full of dirty talking and steamy moments. Zayne is a total hottie too. considering it being a quick read, theres quite a lot of drama happening, but i guess its a 3 star for me
I gave this one 4 stars because I biased and LOVED Zayne. He was just a great character that I really clicked with. In fact, I loved the two of them together and how what the h had been looking for had been in front of her everyday the whole time. But the drama with the ex and how far it went somehow was a little too much for me - felt like it weighed down the story too much. So would've given 3 but Zayne made it a 4!
Ok so this got real, like real fast. It was too much, I think. And in the same situation, literally every other person in the world would have acted differently than these two main characters. They were morons--morons that only thought of sex.
If you have a nude photo scandal on your hands, the absolute last thing you would do is go have sex in public. But these morons? A movie theater sounds good, but hey after that, let's go find a dark corner in CENTRAL PARK. Haha. Sorry but these clowns pissed me off.
And if this guy has a stalker like this, there's absolutely no way he's going to fall in love in 2.6 seconds. Absolutely no way.
And if a guy has a stalker like that, sorry but I'm going to be wary--for at least a day or two. Man, slow down. Chick was an absolute idiot.
And there's insta-love. Then there's this book.
I wanted to like it, but yea, there it is. Sorry to everyone that liked it, but this was just... well... more unbelievable than the stupid alien mating trash that I read. Lol.
Only reason I gave it two stars was because I finished it. One star is a special spot I reserve for books I didn't finish.

What happens when the man of your dreams has been hiding in plain site? Clove has passed her doorman Zayne for years and never noticed how sexy he was until he rescues her from a date gone stalker. They match up on a dating app and the sexts begin. When Zayne's past shows up in the present, things get tricky.
I enjoyed the story and the twists that were involved, but the sex scenes seemed to overtake the book a bit. This was a great storyline otherwise and the characters were great. I still enjoy everything that Ms. Wylder releases and will continue to read her books.
Phenomenal story!! Ms. Wylder never disappoints!! One dating app! One crazy date! One Knight in shining armour! One sext! A whole new adventure for Clove and Zayne!! A smoking hot story with a crazy stalker thrown in!! Clove and Zayne have this connection. Their feelings are intense, but lack of honesty has a way of making you doubt what you thought was the truth!! A Wild ride that leaves you panting for more!! Would totally recommend!!
I’m really not surprised. Why don’t I ever learn? I’ve read several Penny Wylder’s books and they’re all crap. I hate this kind of “romance” books where there’s literally no romance and just sex, sex, sex. And the plot was ridiculous.
I don’t recommend reading any of her books.
And I just wanted something fun and romantic like “The Hating Game” but oh well...
I don't even know where to start. This was completely worthless, unbelievable in every way, boring, etc. I think my advice is to just skip it. I feel bad saying that about someone's work, but it's true.
I received an Advance Reader Copy for Sext written by Penny Wylder and voluntarily reviewed this book. Clove Walker has not been having any luck at all with finding a good guy. In fact, the latest date she had dredged up on her dating app was a real winner, and she was in dire need of immediate assistance from her doorman to beat him off her at the end of a date.
Little did Clove realize, but Zayne Pearson has been trying to get her attention for the past two years, the whole time he's worked there. Now that he has struck up a conversation with Clove, he is not going to allow this door to close.
In the dark hours of the night that follow, Clove still can't wind down, so she checks her dating app and comes upon Zayne's profile. Before she knew it, they were sexting and one day stretches into more, filled with constant communication and a quickly developing relationship. Until she finds herself compromised at work with one of her nude self-portraits, and Zayne was the only one who had access to this particular picture...but as it turns out, he had a past that he hadn't divulged yet, and this secret could cost Clove everything.
There was a great second story included, which I also enjoyed - The Pool Boy.
Vera Caldwell was being funneled into a life that she did not want. Sure, she has great advantages, one being her father is a famous LA architect with a successful firm, but she has other endeavors, a humanitarian goal which he labels as a "charity kick."
After being turned down once again for another position she just interviewed for, heads over to her private garden to tend to it, having neglected it for a while, but finds that the gardener has already been there. She hunts down the person responsible and comes upon James London, who had just started that day on their property. Much to her delight, she finds herself really attracted to him, and flirts with him while he cleans the pool. A hot tryst leads to more during the week James was filling in for his friend. Meanwhile, the pressure from Vera's father to work at his company won't let up, and she doesn't know what to do.
Calling a woman a dirty slut in my mind over and over again just isn't sexy for me. Don't get me wrong I love some good smut, but this was just to much. The sex scenes were to long, and the actual story line was to short. Sorry 😢
Marking it down as meh. Not sure how I feel about the story, but holy moly cow, there were pages and pages of sex. Don't get me wrong, I love a good scene, but towards the end I just skimmed because it was going on and on and on. I think I wasn't a big fan of Clove and Zayne.
I'm gonna get straight to the point: 40% of this was fantastic, 60% did't work out great for me.
This is the story of Clove and her struggle to find someone using a dating app. A bad date ends with the doorman of her building helping her, a bit of flirting, then a lot more flirting on the dating app with him and things start to heat.
The sexting thing is written so damn well, so hot! And it keeps on going like that, but things take a d/s turn peppered with name calling and then things started not working out for me. If it was only this, It would have been ok but the drama that follows! So much of it!
I admit it's more my issue here, so someone loving a fast paced, drama filled action will probably like this book a lot. The writing is great, the characters are pretty complex, but the drama eclipsed all of this for me. However, the sensual encounters are so good, especially in the beginning, there is no chance I'm not gonna keep reading Penny Wylder's books.
Let me dissect this book for you. Guy and girl for whatever reason come together while utilizing a dating app. Typical “SEXTING” ensues. But low and behold the guy is being stalked by a crazy ex and KNEW about it but still encourages the “Sexting” from the girl he trying to get with.
Doesn’t that make him complicit if the stalker then proceeds to then stalk, menace and harass the new girl?? Doesn’t that make him to a degree liable for the fallout that is caused?? Doesn’t that even more simply make him scary and therefore updatable???
I believe to everyone in today’s society would dump him in a heartbeat and run not walk to the nearest police station and report not just the crazy ex but the guy who knew about it and still let you walk in blind to this unforgivable situation! I HIGHLY doubt you would continue to invest you time or feelings on this guy after only 3 days together!
The plot conflict in this story was horrifying and not at all romantic. The extent of the stalking is right up there in “Fatal Attraction” zone! Anyone who still wants you to let them handle the crazy ex instead of helping you report them is just as guilty at that point.
So the couple hooks up. And very nice steaming scenes play out and then BAM(!) stalking. The girl gets talked around to forgiving the guy and more steamy scenes unfold and then BAM(!!) more stalking. The girl has a mini nervous breakdown alone and pulls herself together and then the guy talks her into forgiving him again and here comes the steaming and steamy scenes and then BAM(!!!) more stalking!! But this time it’s an actual physical assault. But here comes the guy to the rescue and in the middle of the rescue confesses his love to the girl he has been trying to get with. All while restraining the stalker from further assaulting her. SMDH!!
I’m sorry this is not a romance. There was no character development. It was just sex and stalking. It would have been nice without the stalking. The getting to know you parts of the story were very brief but highly promising. Which is what I thought I was getting into with this book. I could have enjoyed that a hell of a lot more with a hell of a lot less of the crazy ex. That could have been a small blip in the over story. But it wasn’t.
I would characterize this as an erotica only. Maybe erotica thriller. Not romance. If you want steamy this book has it but not much else. It’s a cautionary tell at best and or an out right lie of a fantasy at worse. This review is for “SEXT” only. There is a bonus book “The Pool Boy” included that I didn’t read. I have it purchased separately so when I get around to reading that I’ll review that separately as well. Penny Wylder is a good writer. Her story lines are iffy though. This was an iffy one and I hated it. I will still read her though because a good creative writer is hard to find.
Clove arrives home from a less than stellar date one evening to see she’s been followed home by the guy she just rejected. He’s drunk and pushy, but then he becomes physical and insistent that Clove give him what he wants. Thankfully, her hunky doorman, Zayne, jumps in to rescue her and get rid of the d-bag. Sexting ensues, and insta-lust soon turns into insta-love.
The plot is unique for a romance, especially considering their less-than conventional beginning. It’s well-written with some prime sex scenes, so that’s always a plus. There are some inconsistencies in the book. IE. Is Andy a woman or a gay man? At 9%, Andy is referred to as “she”, but later on is very clearly a gay man. And the interaction between Zayne and Nick, his bartender friend is never explained. They’re acting strangely and Clove even contemplates asking what’s up, but nothing ever comes of it, making me question why the scene exists in the first place.
Zayne is sweet, but still very sexy. Clove is a real woman with real needs and refuses to apologize for it. Until the main conflict of the story happens, then her confidence takes a definite tumble. The identity of Zayne’s crazy ex was obvious (to me) early on. I would’ve liked it to be a bit more surprising. The ending was sudden and more of a HFN than an HEA, but it was satisfying enough.
Not my favorite Penny Wylder story, but I like it more than most of her older stuff.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, I am not a fan of this story; having stated that, here are my reasons:
Positives: It was a great length, the plot of the story was great and it led to a great mini adventure/thriller. I loved the characters and their bond to one another. Most of the dialogue was good and there were some great lines. The story flowed well, the characters were well developed and the plot was detailed, and the outcome was sweet. The banter between the main characters was fun and their texts were a great addition to the story. There was chemistry between the tow and the reader could feel that. The story was well written and there was no grammar or spelling errors.
Negatives: there was too much sex (I know, I know), but when there are only two scenes in the story and each are 10 to 15 pages long. It gets a bit boring and I was wishing they would get it on so that I could move on. There was also too much of a repetitive line of “dirty girl” I do believe that it was said on every other page and it got annoying. Oh, and there was NO epilogue and I really wanted to know what the characters are up to in a few years. Over this just was not the story for me, but I will continue to read this authors work in the future, grab yourself a copy as it might just be me because the overall story was great. I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
It appears that I'm in the minority with my rating of this book. The instalove was over the top. Even though the H worked as a doorman at the h's apartment building for over two years, they had never spoken until the night he saved her from a bad date. That same night, they're suddenly hot and heavy and sexting each other and attaching naked photos. Seriously hard to believe. The H confesses to having noticed her and wanting her attention, yet for two years she never made eye contact or noticed this man before. Really? Two years working at her home, and no eye glance, no conversation, no friendly smile or anything?
The storyline was boring. I started skimming the pages and only reading the quoted conversation. The h is quick to jump to conclusions. She knows the H's ex is trying to sabotage their new relationship, yet the h doesn't even consider what's happening and believes the worst. The H should have told the h to kick rocks and found someone who trusted him. Or at least allowed him to explain before assuming he's dirt. He seriously needed to man up. Also, I'm no prude and I enjoy a good, well written steamy scene, but here I actually found myself skipping the sex scenes. Can't say that happens often.
I respect the talent it takes for an author to write words and the bravery it takes to publish them, but sadly this just wasn't the book for me.
As always a very well written story by Penny Wylder. She never disappoints. I love her way of writing and telling stories. This story has a good flow and captivated me from the first to the last page. It is a great short read. I like that Penny Wylder has included dating apps, blackmailing and new aspects in her story. It makes it unique. The story has drama, action, angst, conflicts, laughs, chemistry, hot scenes and lots of emotional ups and downs. I like the unexpected twists and turns which gave the story an edge. After a really bad date Clove is saved from a very bad situation. The hero is Zayne her doorman at the building. They start to sext and they develop an amazing chemistry and have some very hot scenes. Clove is a strong independent woman but sometimes you cannot solve all issues by yourself. What happens you have to read in the book. Zayne is a bit different from the heroes in other romance books and that suits this story. I love the plot and the interesting main characters in this story. But I would have loved an epilogue that took the story to an end.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Clove works in marketing. She's single, young and successful in her professional life; dating not so much.
Zayne is the doorman at the building where she lives. She sees him almost everyday but has never really noticed him.
Thanks to a dating app, Clove meets up with a real "winner". She meets him at a bar but quickly realizes he is not worth her time. She leaves via cab, but he follows her home, forcefully trying to get the date moving in his desired direction. Zayne sees Clove struggle to get away from her date and steps in to rescue her.
Zayne and Clove have some great chemistry. Once Clove finally SEES Zayne and spends time with him, their mutual attraction cannot be denied, no matter what obstacles are placed in their path. There are some steamy and naughty scenes, plus toss in some exhibitionism and it makes for one HOT read! Enjoy.
SEXT by Penny Wylder was a great read. First, the cover is HOT and just absolutely love it! Second, the characters lifted from the pages and totally came to life for me. I easily escaped reality and dove into the world of Clove and Zayne. There was fire, passion, realistic issues and a plot that kept you hooked.
This was no surprise to me as I have always loved this author's writing. She has a way with words that completely engulf me and light me on fire in all the best possible ways. SEXT did just that.
I would definitely recommend this book to fellow readers alike and highly doubt that you would finish with anything less than a goofy grin and the possibility of one-clicking some of Penny Wylder's other books as I have become an addicted fan of hers.
I received a copy in exchange of an honest review.
I was privileged enough to receive a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the story line in this book, following the ups and downs of their romance. The one thing that bothered me (and I can't believe I'm gonna say this) is there was too much sex. I know it's a Penny Wylder book and that's the norm, but I swear one scene was like 10 pages long. For me, that was way too much. I just skimmed through that. It seems like a lot of books are that way lately. But that may be just me. Whatever. Putting that aside, I thought it was a good book. Like-able characters, fast paced action, no cheating and a HEA ending. All good things in my world. If you're a fan of Ms. Wylder's, then this one's for you.
So this wasn't what I was expecting. Took a turn into kink town with a little side stop at dom/sub. I'm not into the super controlling and calling the girl his dirty sl*t a 100 times so wasn't into the steamy stuff. The connection between the two characters came off purely physical. I did like the idea of the story, how they met and the crazy excitement at the end was a nice added bonus as well. Wish there was an epilogue but ended with a hfn. Loved the cover too. Voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an arc.
