Amish school teacher, Emily Graber, is falling for a man who's been married before. The rules of the Swiss Amish community say he's forbidden to remarry, only someone forgot to tell Emily's heart. Book one of the Forbidden Amish Love series. The story continues in book two, The Forbidden. Watch for the dramatic conclusion in book three, The Secret. ( Now also available as a complete series in one ebook. Look for Forbidden Amish A Novel)
This is a very good series. Tattie tends to add some steamy kisses to her stories, but overall they are clean.
This is a story about a man and woman who fall in love, but they can't do anything about it because the Amish believe that when a couple marries they are married until death do them part, even if one of the members of the marriage leaves and divorces the other - and even remarries - they aren't free to remarry themselves. She's a woman on her own since her father died and he is the man helping her take care of her property and animals. She helps him with his organic farm. His wife leaves him bereft and she comes to his rescue (twice).
Emily an unmarried AmIsh woman and Silas a married but divorced man live next to each other. Circumstances bring them frequently together causing the Bishop to visit.
This was a wonderful book, I really enjoyed it. Emily lives by herself after her father dies. She gets lonely in the big house, but doesn't want to move in with her brothers. She has an English neighbor named Silas. He helps her out with all the chores there are to do around the property. Will Emily ever be happy and not so lonely? You will have to read the book to find out. Can't wait to read book two.
Emily Graber feels all alone after her father dies. Although she has nine brothers and sisters, she wants to stay in her home after his passing. Silas Moreland, her Englisch-turned-Amish neighbor. . . well, I'll let you read about Emily and Silas.
This is vey different from the usual Amish fiction stories I read. . . yet it is a compelling, compassionate story of love -- forbidden love, since Silas' wife is divorcing him. Will Emily and Silas give in to temptation? You won't know unless you read the entire series.
It was easy for me to identify with Emily. If I were Amish, and in her place, what would I do? That's the question I asked myself when reading Emily's story. I hope I would make the right decision. What would you do?
I love this delightful book tremendously and I'm thrilled to have found this author. Once I started reading, the storyline had me hooked. I've enjoyed learning about the Swiss Amish and I'm so intrigued from reading The Broken that I'm looking forward to the author's next book.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.
