Maverick's world has been turned upside down since losing his best friend, Tarick, to the Black Eye Kids. Now, he finds himself in the middle of some government conspiracy, and he has to leave home... forever.
It would be easy to just run away, but Maverick is hell-bent on bringing down those responsible for Tarick and his mother's deaths. But he's not alone. Marcus might have survived a gruesome experiment to turn him into a soul-sucking demon, but he's not quite the same easygoing slacker he used to be. And Astid has agreed to join them on their quest to get justice.
Meanwhile, there's a new threat more dangerous than the Black Eye Kids or secret agents. And it's hungry.
Miranda Hardy writes literature to keep the voices in her head appeased. When she's not in her fantasy world, she's canoeing in alligator infested waters or rescuing homeless animals. She resides in south Florida with her two wonderful children, and too many animals to mention.
received a copy of this book for free from the author as an ARC and have voluntarily chosen to review it This is the third book in the series and it really kept my interest. I wanted to see the revenge Maverick took on those that ruined his and so many other's lives. No spoilers, but I felt the ending was very appropriate,
The blurb has it right - so much for senior year. Though to be fair, Maverick and Marcus probably had more adventure than their classmates did in their entire school year.
I would say, if you skipped the installment Marcus, that you should read it before starting Death Returns. It doesn't seem like it, but its ending sets up a lot of what you'll be getting into in this one. I honestly didn't think I could be more surprised by this point, but I've got to eat my words. There are a couple points in the book that I felt like needed a little more explanation, but I think the only way that were to work would be a separate novella. The more that I learned about Level 6, the more it felt like it could continue on. It's hard to explain without spoiling, but I was very satisfied by the end of the book, even though I was utterly gutted at what it took to get there. I received an advanced copy and volunteered to review.

I enjoyed this book, it took me a little while to get into it. It didn’t drag me in as much as the first and second book. I was glad we found out more about the back story of the BEKS. I felt really bad for Mav who continued to lose more family and friends. He lost so much in the first book I couldn’t think he could possibly lose much more but it was possible. I love how everyone came together in the end to help save the BEKS and the world.
Book 1 was awesome and 5 stars. Book 2 (1.5) was short and told nothing new, it was told by Marcus. Book 3: this one gets 4 stars, because I did not like the ending.
!!! SPOILER !!!
Marcus died, HOW COULD YOU DO THAT? I was so angry. The one person everyone loved the most, and you let him die? Shame on you.
The whole ending was not good enough. I would let the BEKS and Maverick all stay together. That would be the beast ending, with Marcus.
I didn't like this one as much as the other two but that could be because I'm not used to reading these types of books. It was still entertaining tho. To me this one sort of dragged on and there didn't seem to be a lot going on until the end. I did like that you never knew what was coming next tho.
Another great in an amazing series. Maverick finds himself in the middle of a government conspiracy. Instead of running, he’s trying to fight back. Great for all ages.
