It is another fun story about the rich older lawyers of Marks, Sanchez & Reed plus Macks. Juliana Connors brings us another hot & heavy, sexually filled romp between one of the firm's lawyers & his executive assistant. This is a quick read that has great characters & a believable story. This book is meant for mature readers.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
Knock me up Boss by Julianna Conners a fabulous five-star read. This is a standalone Bad Boy romance and is all about a dirty office romance, it’s what Julianna Conners writes well. It’s hot and feisty and sets that pages alight as you read them. I have to say that Carolina is one of my favourite leading ladies she certainly comes with a bite. Yum yum. This hit my kindle a few hours ago and I ploughed right through it, I even stayed in a bath that was defiantly less than lukewarm just so I could finish the last few chapters in peace!! Because as you know if you read a Julianna Conners book you need the peace and alone time.
4 Star Kindle Unlimited Read The title implies this is a story about a woman who purposely gets pregnant. Nope this is a story about a boss and Secretary that want each other so badly they use and old condom that breaks. Oops ovulation stimulation equals pregnancy. But, in the end it all works out.
this book.... I was just so....very disappointed in this book. The synopsis was intriguing, interesting, showed such promise. Yet when I started the book I felt like it was written by a 10 year old. It did not flow well, well it did not flow together at all. I mean, it felt like each paragraph was taken from a different book and just plastered on a page and done. It was just not well written at all! For example:
She starts off describing a guy she liked in high school, a bad boy, named Taylor:
"Taylor smoked filter-less cigarettes and drank Jack Daniels right out of a flask on the front steps of school, and not one teacher said a word. One of the reasons, I always assumed, was that his dad was the most respected judge in the county. Looking back, he was probably having sexy with every teacher in the school, including the male ones. Still, I was so in love with him, I could not care less where his dick had been, as long as I was the main girl. And I was for a while........"
which this continues for the next couple of pages where she talks about being in love with the bad boy of high school who also fucked around, blah blah blah, so after 5 paragraphs where she talks about being in love with the bad boy she continues with this:
"Jake happened to be coming out of the locker room and saw the embrace. He looked sad. All of a sudden, I started to see him differently, but I wasn't quite over Taylor yet."
So I mean she went from talking about a bad boy that she was sooooooo in love with to seeing another boys sad face at her embrace with said bad boy and then all of a suddent things change? like WTF?? just like that? but then after that paragraph where "things changed" she goes back to talking about the bad boy and their relationship....ummmm ok??
"Taylor (the bad-boy) had cheated on me multiple times by that point, and I was over the whole bad boy thing anyways. As far as I was concerned, Jessie could have him. I watched Jake (her "high school sweetheart") coordinate plays with his wide receiver. I watched him run and throw and connect the plays, and I remember thinking right in that moment, as if someone had handed me a script, I am going to marry that boy someday"
Seriously tho....WTF! how do you go from talking about how in love you are about one guy and then say you are going to marry another guy in the next paragraph?! And she claims to have married her high school sweetheart but they only dated like their senior year of high school. wtf??? but ok so I decided to keep reading maybe it got better.....well it didnt! I was so over the horrible writing in this book, I couldnt even finish it. I skipped pages read a line here and there but it continued much the same way.
Review? 1 star Do it again? Hell no, I couldnt even do it the first time! let alone read it a second time! Friend? No I would not recommend this book to anyone, Sorry Im not sorry Was this your first? Yes this was my first from this author Do it with them again? Sadly, I dont think I will read anything from this author again, it was just bad
What a delightful read! More shenanigans at the law firm...you just have to love those high powered lawyers and their executive assistants/interns.❤️It's a great storyline, with fully developed characters and cameos from some of our favorite characters from previous books. There's high emotion, coupled with doubt and fear, plus a delightful HEA--even if the journey to get there was so painful. I think you're going to love this one, too. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and loved it!) ❤️
I honestly picked this book up because I wanted to see what all the hype was about so I was curious all my favorite authors were sending the title to check out in massive emails and you know how it goes why not just go for it and read it. I did.. I shouldn't have also. The book wasn't as good as the hype to be really frank it confused me a bit when Carolina kept going back and forth in the first portion of the book. An ex is an ex yes but the problem was rereading it several times in wasn't good specially when the ex never really spoke or better yet we never knew what the letter said that he left. I know Carolina mentioned it but seeing it would have been cool. Oh well I guess maybe that was the hype? Hmmm
Anyways getting to the middle of the book was better and the ending I was happy with. Sexy Boss hmmm yup Oh and how come no explanation from the doctor? Questions I would have liked to know about hello he is a gyno lol This isn't meant to be offensive in anyway.
Carolina is a bit depressed. She is without a job and now without a husband. Her husband Jake has decided to leave her after they were told she will not be able to get pregnant. Completely unexpected, this puts her in a place of just wanting to hide under her covers. Garrett is the new partner at the law firm and has quite a reputation. Due to this, the firm will not let him hire his own employees. That is until he takes it on himself to find someone who is capable of doing a job well done. When he hires Caroline, he knows nothing can happen between them but she's beautiful and nice to look at. Yep, that's what he tells himself. Can Caroline change a man like Garrett without even trying? This is book 4 of the series and even though it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest you reading the books prior. There are characters throughout the series so
I voluntarily received an Advance Reader Copy of this book for an honest review. The queen of heat is once again steaming up my e-reader screen. I love these Playboy alpha males who are brought to their knees when love catches them off guard and this book did not disappoint. Garrett is a rich, arrogant attorney with a history of flings with his employees. Before becoming a partner in a established law firm, he is warned not to have any inappropriate relationships with the female staff. Carolina is recently divorced from her high school sweetheart and needs to find a job. The only one she is offered is in another state and the person making the offer is Garrett. Garrett and Carolina's chemistry is undeniable and scorching hot and I loved it.
Caroline is alone and depressed. Her husband left after finding out she can't get pregnant. She isn't looking for a relationship, just a job.
Garrett is the office playboy, and the partner's at his prestigious law firm have had enough of him sleeping with his assistants, and at work to boot! They tell him it has to stop, and he can't hire any more staff. But he does anyway, and hires Caroline.
What happens when they have a secret relationship and Caroline ends up pregnant?
This was a wonderfully written story with amazing characters you will get to know and love. There is humor, instant chemistry, steamy sexy parts and so much more. Don't pass this one up!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This is my honest opinion.
Man, I loved this book. I love all of the Boss books but I have to say this one is one of the best ones. Carolina is a strong woman once she gets away from her home town and her ex-husband and the bad memories. She takes a chance on the job offer she is given at Marks, Sanchez, Reed, and Mack law firm. Garrett is the hot newest member of the law firm and is warned not to sleep with anyone there. But he just can't keep his hands off of Carolina. I loved this steamy full-length read. You also get to see all the other characters from the other books and how they are doing. Loved that. Great book and addition to this series. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
Garrett is a billionaire lawyer with a large law firm and is a big time man whore. His partners are tired of all the sex on the desk with his assistants and have told him to shape up. His antics have caused their share of office problems. When he hired Carolina they put their foot down. No one intimate action with employees. He's attracted to her and something about her is different. So they end up having a relationship on the sly. She leaves when she ends up pregnant. No spoiler here so you'll have to read to find out if he goes after her and how this 'player' reacts to a baby. A really well written book with strong characters and an entertaining storyline. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review this book,
Carolina's life was turned upside down and she was looking for a fresh start somewhere along the same time Garrett is starting as a partner in the firm. There's an instant connection and though they try to avoid it, it seems inevitable for them to be together. Ok, so it can't be a surprise based on the book's name that there's a baby at some point. So I can totally mention how much I love the baby's name! Anyways.
Oh these hypocritical guys at the office! Saying they can find love with the women who work for them but he can't? I just want to smack them upside the head! Of course my thoughts on this aren't new, as I felt like this in previous books surrounding the boss series. I loved this, very enjoyable read with dual pov and a hea. I received an arc of this.
I have read all of the Boss series stories and enjoyed every one of them. The heroines are fiesty and the heroes fall hard for them. I think this one has to be my favorite though. Carolina and Garrett are great!!! This can be read as a standalone but I recommend going back and reading the previous stories as well. In Knock Me Up, Boss we get to see and get caught up with what's going on with the couples of Marks, Sanchez, & Reed. Whew, what a law firm to work for! *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
A naughty delight, this is a thoroughly enjoyable read! It's funny, and scorching, unexpected, and full of love. Garrett and Caroline have awesome chemistry. Like, where was HR on this, kind of chemistry. Wires are crossed, mistakes are made, and along this windy road there is real love. Caroline is wonderful, and Garrett, despite his playboy past, is great too. There is a great balance of sweet with this naughty, so ultimately it's a feel good romance. Great writing, wonderful pacing, excellent characters, and an original plot despite the tropes. Absolutely loved it. This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.
This was an enjoyable read filled with laughter, angst, hot sex, an unplanned pregnancy and an instant attraction. Garrett was known as the office whore and got into quite a few problems by sleeping with his assistants. When he hires Carolina the partners are sure he is up to his old routine, but this time it is not just casual sex. This time it means more. But when Carolina leaves and does not tell him about the baby, will this be the end of the romance? Or will Garrett step up and realize that he truly loves her? With great characters and an enjoyable plot this is a book I highly recommend.
If there is one thing Juliana Conners is good at, it's writing steamy, fast-paced bad boy romance stories with strong, well-developed characters with a great storyline that keeps you wanting to read more. Knock Me Up, Boss contains a bit of angst, some drama, humor, hot sex, and an unexpected surprise.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
Can I just say Garrett and Carolina have been my favorite so far. Wow oh wow what a hot sexy read. Garrett fought the good fight trying not to fall in love. He fell hard though. I loved Erin keeping Carolina updated. She should have listened lol. Great fun sexy read. I just loved it. I voluntarily received this ARC for an honest review.
This was a pleasant surprise for me... I expected just a way bam book but instead there was a story and character development and I felt for each of them and how they weren't sure what to do... love when a book surprises you!
Another fantastic book from this amazing auther. I loved it. A great office romance so sweet, hot and romantic. I loved Carolina and Garrett they are perfect for each other. I read it with a big smile on my face
Sweet & Spicy, quick read with instant scorching attraction, humor, a little angst, some drama, and a unplanned surprise. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I absolutely love Garret and Carolina. They fell hard for each other and despite the way they felt for each other they never once told each other how they feel about each other. Once Garret realizes he can't live without Carolina despite the consequences he goes after her and their hea is beautiful.

Oh my… Boss! Juliana, please don’t ever stop writing. I enjoy each book in this series more than the last —and I didn’t even know that was possible! You wonderful writer, you made me freaking cry. Can you believe it? It’s too short for me. I. Need. MORE! More of them I beg you. I wasn’t sure I’d end up liking this —heck, I didn’t even know if I’d finish the book. But I know I have a soft spot for unplanned babies’ stories. So yes, I recommend it. This book doesn’t exactly deserve five stars… but fifty! I’ve L-O-V-E-D it. Every page was perfect, and really hot. Well done. I can barely contain my excitement for the next story. You’re going to hear from me again, sooner than you think.
So many errors that would have been easily avoided with some editing. In one chapter the H's dad is alive and dead on the next page; the H is described as having gray wavy hair and then brown hair etc.
I am currently reading through this series. Knock Me Up, Boss is book 4. I haven't yet updated my "read list" for these, but was compelled to comment on this entry before heading to the next.
By way of background... Marks, Sanchez & Reed (and, now, Mack) is a law firm in New Mexico. The middle-aged partners (40s+) have reputations for being playboys and/or bedding their younger co-workers. Because of insta-love, they have now met the women of their dreams and have settled down. Garrett Mack's aged (and sometimes senile??) father is a partner in the firm. At the beginning of the story, Garrett has just come on board as a new, named partner. The current partners know of his philandering ways and warn him against bringing it to their firm. (Hello, Kettle? This is the Pot...)
Carolina, who is living in South Carolina, is a just-divorced woman looking to start fresh. We get her backstory. She needs a job and posts her résumé to a national job site. Garrett sees her résumé and picture (he "googles" each applicant he considers) and is instantly attracted to her. He offers her the job. She accepts and moves across the country to start her new life. BTW... She has checked him out and is drawn to him, too. What happens when they finally see each other follows the same formula most of these stories do: boss sees woman, wants woman, must have woman. Assistant/underling/secretary sees boss, wants boss, must have boss. Things smolder until they finally get together for explosive sex, but obstacles pop up affecting any HEA.
While I have a fondness for these short, insta-love stories (they're just so fun!), and enjoyed the previous entries to this series, this one has issues that kept me from fully enjoying it. The story itself is fine. I liked Carolina. Garrett is okay, but for a self-assured, supposedly alpha, lawyer, he's kind of wimpy. And, the obstacles keeping them apart are not very interesting.
However, the worst thing about this story, more so than other Juliana Conners books I've read is the editing. It is horrible (or non-existent). The beginning of the story covers Carolina's background with her ex, Jake, but jumps to her story with Taylor, her boyfriend before she got with her husband -- maybe to explain her draw to "bad boys" (though why we need it I don't know. It certainly doesn't add to the story.). They all seemed to be in high school together with Jake pining for her while she dated the philandering Taylor. Later, she sees Jake on the college football field and sees him in a new light. He's changed since high school. She's done with bad boys (and Taylor) and sees her life with Jake, now a junior in college. She's a cheerleader for the team. Later, it's mentioned Carolina was 18 when she got married. ??? Okay... Carolina's parents are mentioned -- appear to be living -- but she has a surrogate mother in a café owner and Carolina's parents are never mentioned again.
Once they get to New Mexico... Carolina's lump-sum alimony (chapter 1) is now ongoing (chapter 16) -- at least for now. Garrett's father, Lester Mack, is alive (chapter 8), but later as a means of explaining why Garrett doesn't want to fall in love, he speaks to his brother, Bob. Bob is caring for their aged widowed mother, who treated their father badly (chapter 11; his father's been dead for two years). Then Lester is alive again (chapter 33). ???
Characters' names change. There are typos and wording misuse (e.g., her friend Claude stands as a "groom" rather than a groomsman), scenes pop up that never get a follow-up, etc. It almost seems as if there were a bunch of scenes or backgrounds written for different stories that got pieced together for this story, but then no one went through with an eye to make sure all the pieces fit cohesively and to check continuity. If someone had taken the time to do clean this up, it would have been a much better book and would have earned more stars from me. I vacillated between two stars and three, but fell back to two. I'll continue with the series and other Conners' works because I've enjoyed others I've read. I just hope this was an exception and not a rule.
Carolina is in need of a job and she would like to be able to move out of the town she grew up in. She is getting a divorce from her husband who was her high school boyfriend. They had been trying to have a baby for a while and they found out that it will be very hard to get her pregnant due to some medical issues on her end. Her husband just up and leaves her and files for divorce without even trying to talk to her. Carolina gets hired by Garrett, who is a new partner at the law firm he recently started working at. Garrett has been warned by the other partners to not mix business with pleasure because he has a reputation for that and they don't want any problems. Garrett hires Carolina without an interview and mostly because she was beautiful and he figures since she has basically no work experience he can train her the way he wants. His partners aren't happy but they allow Carolina to start working and things are going well for the first couple of weeks. There is major sexual tension between the two but they refrain from having any kind of relationship even just sexual. Finally Garrett ends up initiating sexual contact with her one evening and they end up having oral $ex. The coming Monday Garrett is avoiding her so she thinks he is done with her. A little time goes by and Garrett can't control himself again and they end up having $ex. Then they do it again for an entire evening and morning. Then Garrett is back to pretending like nothing happened. This goes on for a few weeks and Carolina can't take it anymore and decides to just resign because she is feeling horrible about the whole thing. Garrett decides it's probably best she left and helps her get a new job at a different law firm. They don't talk or see eachother for weeks and then Carolina starts feeling sick. She takes a few days off and then decides to go to the doctor because she's not getting better. She finds out she's pregnant and doesn't know if she should tell Garrett or not because she's afraid he won't be happy. Grab this great book and see how Garrett finds out she's pregnant and what he does when he finds out. Definitely a must read.
Carolina Abbott married her high school sweetheart, she had hoped to be a housewife, staying home and caring for the children, but that dream was shattered when they found out she would have problems getting pregnant. Her husband left her and her life changed.
Getting served divorce papers meant Carolina had to now make huge life changes, including applying for jobs. When she posted her resume on a website months went by before Garrett Mack contacts her wanting to offer her a job as his assistant.
Garrett Mack finds himself joining a law firm after persuasion from his father, but with the new position in the law firm came severe forewarnings about his playboy antics of the past and getting involved with his staff, so when he hired Carolina he knew he was playing with fire, she was an attractive distraction and one he desperately wanted to get to know personally... but his job was important and he couldn’t have his cake and eat it too, or could he? When they do give into temptation it’s hot and heavy but then reality strikes and it’s not all roses.
Anyway, this was an ok read. I had issues with some of the story lines and rolled my eyes a bit... too many minor character appearances to keep up with... this person was married to that partner and this person got pregnant by that person and so forth... and then there were people I don’t remember like Damien? Who’s Damien? 🤷🏽♀️ admittedly I skimmed a lot, it was like ‘blah’ ‘blah’ ‘blah’... your reasons for not being together are stupid let’s move on to more interesting thoughts.... not a story that’s high on my recommendations unfortunately.
Usually Juliana Conners are one of my favorite authors but with this one I am a bit torn. It did disappoint me a bit in the story line and the plot was not that expressive. The way Caroline acts in the first part is weird. The thing about the letter the ex-husband left for her and that we never got to know what was about was confusing and annoying. We hear a lot about it and we do not get a closure on this aspect. The story line gets a lot better the longer you get into the book. But would have liked it sooner in the story. Garrett is new in the law firm and is a bit of a player. He is not allowed to hire his own personal but his finds one that can do a good job and he hires Caroline as his PA. It shouldn't have been more that an employee but she is beautiful and alluring to him. The book has passion, hot chemistry, pregnancy issues and is an emotional rollercoaster for the main characters. They develop through the story and it get really good at the end. The book is a standalone but I would recommend reading the previous three before this one because it gives you more of the background and some answers. I like very much that we get an update on the previous characters and couples. I can of course only recommend this book to others that like to read an office romance with some twist.

I read this book as part of an arc program. This was another book in the Boss series featuring Marks, Sanchez, Reed- and now Mack- law firm. This the story of Garret Mack, the son of an older lawyer at the firm who joined as a partner. Garret was warned by Asher and Cameron not to sleep with any staff. Garret had a playboy reputation and they did not want any sexual harassment claims. Cameron was told only to hire male assistants. After a few of the assistants Garret hired didn't work out, he hired Carolina. Carolina was a young woman who was going through a divorce from her high school sweetheart. He decided to divorce Carolina when they were unable to have children. Carolina was depressed and when she was offered the job working for Garret, she decided to leave her small town and move across country and start over. Garret and Carolina have a huge attraction from day one and Garret says if they act on it once to get it out of their systems, they can move on. Once they act, it becomes awkward and Carolina decides to quit in order to move on. This was another good book from this series I really enjoy. I like how the women all find love with older men at sugar daddy central. Another great one!
I loved revisiting the law firm again and seeing what the previous characters, from the Boss series, were up to. Unfortunately this one wasn't one of my favourites. Although I loved the storyline, I felt the book ended rather quickly before anything really happened. I loved how Garrett and Carolina first met and how awkward it was between them, I definitely had a couple little laughs then. I liked the sparks they had right from the beginning and how stubborn they both were. There were some very hot scenes between these two. I found it so sweet and cute when Garrett talked about their baby and what he did with/to her. I felt the story did jump around quite a bit, it left me wondering when/what was happening in the book at that time (days/weeks later for the characters) and backtracking in the story some times. Carolina just frustrated me towards the end after finding out she was pregnant. She really annoyed the heck out of me then although I did like her prior to that. An okay read for me and fairly enjoyable 3.5 stars
