THE FLIGHT OF HOPE: Is a gut wrenching full length contemporary romance novel by H.J. Bellus.

Kick starting us off in the ‘Prologue’ the author has set the stage up for an emotional heart breaking read.

In this we meet tomboy Marlee aka Birdie and her best friend Bentley Foster, two childhood friends that loved each other even before they knew or understood what love meant, we see them as youngsters fishing at their favourite place at the pond, to their senior years at high school, to newly weds.

Bentley never made it a secret that after their graduation he’d be following in his father's footsteps and enlisting in the Army which has been a lifelong dream of his.

Marlee has always had that fear in the back of her mind that one day he’d never come back home to her.

Their connection, their love oozes off the pages, the feels that rush at you as your on the same ride as Marlee as she falls in love with her best friend, their struggles to conceive, their fears, her gut wrenching heart break as she loses the man who mean't the world to her and a tether that would've held her strong through the most harrowing ordeal any person could endure but sadly in the same blink of an eye that life was lost to her also.

Marlee takes off and heads to a small town where no one knows her name, her back ground, her loss and it's here where she slowly heals and meets another man who steals her breath away, signs that maybe Bentley hasn't finished with her just yet. Fight for your life, live Birdie

Where there is love there is also heartbreak and along with Marlee we also suffer in silence as we clutch those soggy tissues to our hearts as we're put on another collision course of falling tears..

MY THOUGHTS: God this book destroyed me!! Reading reviews getting told to have tissues on the ready so many have told me that in the past and I've not taken it seriously because the book that made them all teary eyed left me dry as a bone. But this book I swear to god gutted me.
I hit the spot where she's the survivor of a tragic accident and the author didn't really go into too much detail and I was thinking no no no go back, let me enjoy this heartbreaking moment naively thinking this was the part that everyone was going on about with the tissues how wrong could've I have been because blow me to China and back she came at me like a hurricane and I cried and cried like a new born baby.
But how she did this was pure genius because instead of us riding that emotional train we rode a tsunami hit after hit.
This book swept me along on the highs and lows of life, of love, of survival, I laughed, I giggled, I swooned, I cried, everything this author wanted me to feel I felt right down to my soggy tissues.
Sit back, get some tissues a bottle of wine on the ready and be prepared to feel!!

Sometimes you pick up a book and within the first few pages you know it's going to grab you.
The Flight of Hope did that for me.
Marlee is a strong woman who is dealt more pain than any one person should EVER have to deal with.
Heidi delivers this story in an epic way that brings you tears, joy, pain, and an overall decision on what really matters as we walk through life.
I've read a lot from Heidi and I'm not kidding when I say this is by far her best work. It's a story unlike anything. You have to read it. I can't say enough about the words this author poured her heart into.

Ugly cry doesn't even begin to describe how emotional this book is. My heart broke for Marlee as she struggled to cope with the loss of Bentley and Hope. The raw pain she felt after the accident bled through HJ Bellus's words. I listened to this audiobook while at work and I could feel every ounce of emotion through Lacy Laurel's wonderful narration. Lacy did an amazing job at narrating Marlee's story and giving each of these lovable characters their own unique sound. I had to wait a few days after finishing this audiobook before writing my review to digest my feelings towards this book and I've come to a conclusion. This story is heartfelt and real. It made me laugh and more times than I could count. Simply put, this story is absolutely magnificent.

I knew going in this would be a tear jerker, but I still was not quite prepared for how much of an ugly cry it would be. This book has all the feels. I'm not a believer in recapping a story, so I'll just say this. Bellus wrote with such depth of emotion it sucked every tear out of me. I finished this book after midnight and went to sleep. Or at least I intended to. But all I did was lie there and think of Birdie and what she went through, her life, her joys, her struggles, her pain, her happiness, and what she gained in the end. And as I write this, it still is with me. Talk about a book hangover. I'm either going to strangle H J or hug her the next time I see her. I haven't decided yet. What I do know is you must read this book. Grab a box of tissues. Make that 2. You'll need them. #SuperUglyCry #SecondChances #MustRead

Finally getting a chance to read this author - 4.6 overall rating....YES indeed! More people should read this one, I loved it!! I haven't had a break down ugly cry in a long time and it was a great feeling! To actually feel the pain of these characters was beautiful!!!

I also thought this was a really unique story line. A crazy avenue of second chances. A read the blurb years ago when I added this to the TBR. But never read the description again prior to starting this and that was a BONUS!!! I loved going in blind...I was wrecked by all that happened that is clearly given away in the little summary. Go in blind and read this. I can't wait to get into more of this author's stuff. 4.5++ stars

I was completely blown away with this book. Yes I had heard that it was going to be a tear jerker. But it was so much more then that. I had read many books from HJ Bellus and loved them all. But this one has been moved up to the very top . I so want this one for my paperback collection. If you dont click on this book and read it I guarantee you will regret it. Yes it is that good.
Marlee is the strongest woman I know. I absolutely loved her character from the beginning to the end.Her character was so well written that I could literally feel every thing that she was feeling. I felt every heartache she felt . Every single moment that was good or bad. I wanted to climb into this book and hug her and make everything better for her. Not only does this story break your heart once but it does it twice. It breaks your heart fixes it and breaks it again. But you know that the second time around Marlee will get through whatever is in her way.
I loved Bentley . I swear what could you not love about that man. He is the perfect boyfriend then husband. I absolutely loved the relationship between him and Marlee. I absolutely loved how even when things go terrible wrong he is still there for her. Jed is amazing. I was so glad when he comes into Marlee's life. Not only does it turn her life around but it also turns his around. There are just no words to express how well written this story is and how amazing it is. Yes i cried but it was a needed cry. This will be on my list of books to go to when I need a good cry. Those are the books that I absolutely love to read. Just absolutely blew me away from the beginning to the end. So very gripping. HJ Bellus you are an amazing writer and this one is the prime example. 10 stars on this one without a doubt. Amazing.

I can't take it anymore !
" The stare of my husband's brown eyes piercing me sends me over the edge "
Really ???
I get the idea - we have to understand the strong connection between the characters , in order to understand the devastation afterward , but this is too much .
It was like drowning in a maple syrup pool , mixed with the most cliche sentences about love .

What a gut wrenching story of love, hope and life. After the most devastating thing happens, that life can do to a person, I think we'd all do this same thing. How can one ever move on and learn to live again? Heidi has outdone herself once again. This book is truly some of her best work.
My favorite line is:
"The accident left so many scars and marks upon my skin. It’s my story, but not my ending any longer."

WOW! I didn't know what to expect when I started this book but what I got was never what I could have imagined. This book left me completely wrecked and emotionally drained. The Flight of Hope will take you on an emotional journey of epic proportions. I cried, I laughed, and at times, I was downright angry. This book is a must read of 2017.

The Flight of Hope by the incredibly talented HJ Bellus is a full-length, standalone novel.
Let me tell you, this book gutted the hell out of me! The Flight of Hope is a intense, emotional read and I recommend to keep tissues at hand. Consider you warned.
Marlee has the perfect life. A loving husband, her soulmate and childhoodfriend. And a daughter soon to be born. And in the blink of an eye her world gets destroyed. Bentley and Hope were killed in a car accident. Marlee is a empty shell, has nothing more to give and stays behind.
She moves away and becomes a recluse. She wastes away ´til she meets a little boy and his father . They fight for a live together and a HEA. But the next tragedy shows up on the horizon. At the end they come full circle - and I´m in tears again.
I started reading The Flight of Hope and was hooked from page one. I couldn´t put the book down. I had to know what happened to the characters. And I cried my way through The Flight of Hope.
I Highly recommend The Flight of Hope and wish I could give more than 5 stars. Thank you, HJ Bellus !!!!

This book has me gutted and has torn apart my heart and stomped on it , but then I smile because it brought out my feelings about going on after losing love. Marlee just had not one but two people taking away from her and her world is drowning. Marlee decides to go to a cabin and get away from everything until one day she meets Jed. This story really touched my heart we see heartache, true love, and more. The author I could tell poured her soul into writing this book because I felt it through the pages. It’s a story that truly it home to me and it made me think of my family and how truly I love them and any day anything can happen so live in the now because you never know tomorrow may never come. Have tons of Kleenex it’s a must while reading this! 5/5 stars deserves way many more! ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

When you read the prologue and just know this story is going to be heartbreaking. We get chapters in great detail of Marlee's past life but then it felt as soon as we reached Marlee's present, everything seemed rushed and so the story kind of fell flat for me.

I'm still trying to catch my breath after finishing this. Trust me when I say you should go buy tissues in bulk before starting this book. The Flight of Hope absolutely ripped out my heart. While it completely gutted me, it also worked its way right into me and made me think, made me pause to value small moments more. This is the kind of book that leaves a mark on your heart and stays with you forever. It is simultaneously gut wrenching and beautiful. HJ Bellus beautifully wrote words that will forever linger in our minds when she gave us Marlee's story.

I don't want to give away many details. The Flight of Hope is a book you need to fully experience on your own. The things life throws at Marlee would be enough to break even the strongest of people. I truly felt every bit of her pain, sorrow, happiness, love and healing. This book was done so well it's like you are right there fighting through life with Marlee. I sobbed, I mean SOBBED, at times while reading this, but he most powerful thing that came from The Flight of Hope was hope and love. At the end of it all, no matter how hard things got, there was always hope and love.

5 stars doesn't even begin to justify how amazing this book is. This book is truly one of the most beautifully written books about love, death, healing and trying to live again. Marlee has the love of her life and everything is sunshine when tragedy strikes. Reading her plight left me happy, heartbroken (okay -- actually shattered) and then full of hope again.

Truly this book is an emotional roller coaster that left me red-eyed, emotionally raw and will absolutely stay in my heart forever.

I don't even know where to begin with this book. This book by far was my favorite book of this year. I couldn't put it down and loved every second of it. I knew when I started and couldn't even make it out of the prologue that I was in for one heck of a ride and HJ Bellus didn't disappoint. The Flight of Hope is an emotional roller coaster that left me with such a book hangover. I can not recommend this book enough. But you have been warned, keep your tissues handy this is a tearjerker and it takes a lot to make me cry.
Kudos on a book well done.

Wow!!

*Contains spoilers*

I was really looking forward to this book!! And had very high expectations, unfortunately I feel let down.

Now don't get me wrong it is written very well and and the storyline is a tearjerker!

The first part of the book is 5*, 11 out of 10! Knowing Marlees husband, Bentley is going to die, anticipating it at every moment, I was expecting it at all times but it actually happened when I least expect it!

Bentley is amazing... it's soo hard not to love him, and belive me I tried! Knowing he was going to die I tried my best not to get attached to him, but that was a losing battle. H.J.Bellus succeed in making me cry! which isn't an easy task.

But what the happened after it? I get that Marlee stuggled I get it all! I get the choices she made. But I don't get the sudden relationship with the Bryants. It happens too quickly, I felt it needed baby steps...
and don't even get me started on the ending.. why why WHYYYYY H.J.Bellus why did you end it like that?!?! (which I have to admit is more to do with my ending preferences than the book) The second half is 3.5* in my eyes.

This book has left me feeling that the second half was either rushed or written by someone else. I do think the author should made the chapters flow more and definitely make it more clear when there was a time leap. But I did LOVE the Quotes!

Overall a very good book that will make you cry over the pain of losing loved ones!

I completely ugly cried when I read this book, yet I still loved it for so many reasons. Not only was if full of raw emotion, but it was the the authors careful crafting of the characters timeline that made me truly vested. Marlee, a spoiled girl from a small town, had everything she held dear ripped away from her in a heartbreaking tragedy. I felt what Marlee felt as she went through feelings of hopelessness over her loss and not believing that she could have a second chance. Jed's story...well, I don't want to give spoilers, so I'll just say that it ripped my heart out. Be prepared readers - this is a book that will have you turning the pages with urgency and crying through every one of them. It's a story about love lost and redemption, one that will leave you thinking about it long after you finish reading.

If you are looking for a true 5 star read make sure you get this book. This book is full of tears so make sure you have tissues on hand. It is not many times that I have an ugly cry, but this gave it to me a couple of times throughout the book. The journey she goes on in this book spans many years of her life. It will take you through ups and downs, love and heartache. Such an amazing book it was hard to put it down--i couldn't and didn't until I was done. Who knew falling in love twice could lead to so many tears. Love love loved it!!!

"It is not real, it is not real, these characters are not your friends.. This is a work of fiction.." This is what I felt like I had to tell myself when I got to the end of this book!
Blown away is not a strong enough description of how I feel about what I just read.
HJ Bellus has taken everything I thought I understood about her writing style (yep, I have read all of her books so far) and taken it up so many notches that I don't know if there is a pole high enough for the level she has taken her talent and creativity to.
I don[t want to give away any spoilers so I am not going to delve to far into the storyline or the characters themselves but I have got to say that every single character in this story will leave their mark on your soul. No matter how insignificant they may seem at times, I have put this book down and found myself thinking about things that both the main characters and the secondary characters have said that stood out to me.
The emotion that has surfaced throughout this story is raw and real. You can't help but feel empathy and/or sympathy for what this cast of characters go through and I mean all of characters. In their own way they all play a part and they all experience the ups and downs of this storyline.

The message of this story is both clear and conflicting. If you get to experience a love in your lifetime that is so overwhelmingly epic hold onto it and cherish it, but if you get to experience it twice in your life embrace it and celebrate it. Life is short and not everyday is guaranteed. When it is your time, it is your time. Live, Laugh and Love like all you have is here and now because tomorrow is not promised and today you are blessed !!

Well done Hj Bellus, I have no idea where you come up with this stuff but I hope you continue to share your stories and your talent with us because It would be a damn shame if it was ever hidden from the world!!

This was I read that I was totally not prepared for. A love story that will have your heart going haywire in ways that will forever be ingrained in you.

Marlee Foster found love at such an early age. One can say she had it all. A blessed childhood, an amazing family, and a life that anyone would envy. She fell in love with her best friend and they were truly soul mates. Being a military wife is not easy and just when things were going in a direction they were excited about....life throws her a heartbreaking curveball. Feeling broken and alone she goes out to seek a new life on her own. The memories was too much to bare and she needed to get away and find herself once again even if it meant leaving her family and best friend behind.

A different direction of writing for HJ Bellus and she did it good. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen twists are thrown your way. Love comes when you least expected regardless of how it came to be. The tears and emotions was unbelievably strong on this one. An unforgettable story that will have you appreciating being alive and to live life to the fullest that you can. To not take things for granted because one will never know what could unexpected be thrown at them.

5 Star review of The Flight of Hope By HJ Bellus

Audio Review:

I knew this was going to be an emotional roller coaster of a read and listening to narrator Lacy Laurel I was impressed with the angst and emotion portrayed.

I’m not sure what to say about this book. How much pain, suffering, loss and death can someone take? Marlee Foster is a woman who has lost so much and is barely living life. Shattered by so much loss she doesn’t know how much more she can take.

The pain and suffering experienced by Marlee was palpable as narrator Lacy Laurel read this story and my heart just about broke for her.

As Marlee struggles to live one day at a time, faced with constant reminders of all she has lost, she knows she has to leave.

From start to finish this was an emotional journey about surviving tremendous loss, courage and a determination and strength of will that was inspiring.

Awesome book!!! This book is about second chances. It ripped my heart out good. When I read it I needed a good book not just a plain romance and this was PERFECT!!! You feel Marlee's love and her pain. You feel your heart being ripped about and put back together. You feel the struggles and the wins. I can't rave enough about this. It being from her point of view is great! She loved and lost. That is the story of everyone's life. Even the greatest love stories of all time that you have heard. In the end her journey takes her full circle. Go along for the ride, you won't be disappointed. I read this book for an honest review. Enjoy!!!

Gutted is not the right word I want to use to describe this book, yet I am still gutted at the raw beautiful emotion that HJ poured into this book.

Yes this book is emotional and pulls at all your strings, but this is life. We all know a Marlee out here. She is strong and gets knocked down. She struggles to live but finally finds hope and life hits her again. What I can't get past is the beauty of the struggles, the cries, the laughs and finally the hope. I will have more of my emotional review on A Day with Ethel YouTube channel on release day.

BUT, before I leave Heidi hits it with this book. I have never felt more love in a book. I think this is better than any of Nicholas Sparks books :)

How can woman have to deal with so much grief???

What would you do if you lost everyone that meant something to you? I know what I would do, exactly what Birdie did, RUN!

Running never solves a problem, but when you just to go where no one knows you, it's the thing to do. And you never know, running may just put you in the place you are always meant to be.

This book was such an emotional read, I highly recommend. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Bellus.
