Hey everyone. Appreciate you stopping by and browsing my page.

I'll keep it short and sweet. I don't have plans to write exclusively in one genre, nor do I plan on writing book after book featuring the same characters, unless there's a great story to tell.

I've always been an eclectic soul, and I find my writing runs along those same lines. I jump from terrorism thriller to sci-fi, to historical fiction and psych thriller.

But no matter what I'm writing, the goal is always the same. To thrill you, to allow you a moment of escape, to force an emotional response into the front of your brain, and for you to lose sleep while doing it.

I'm all over social media, so come find me. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again for checking me out, and if you left a rating or review, know that you made my day.

I want to start this review by stating that I received a paperback copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way changes or affects my review.

I had a pretty good feeling that I'd thoroughly enjoy this book because I've seen so many rave reviews about Reid's writing both on here and on Instragram. But I honestly didn't think I'd love it THIS much! The story had me hooked right from the very first page and despite not having read the first book in the series, I was able to instantly fall in to this one with no issues.

Right from the get go, this book is filled with non stop action and twists that leave you dying to know where it will go next. There's never a dull moment throughout the story, I was constantly on the edge of my seat!

I really appreciated how the author was able to write such a thrilling and interesting story but also cover so many important topics at the same time. He manages to create the perfect balance between the two and the result is absolutely stunning!

A very enthusiastic five stars from me! This book 100% exceeded all my expectations. The first book in the Logan Falcone series, Debt of Fear was only a glimpse of what was in store for us in Sins of the Father.
Page by page this book somehow manages to up the risk and the action with every chapter. From like chapter 15-34, I was binge reading--getting to the last page of each Chapter and having to continue on to the next to see what was going to happen.
We open with a very intense scene-and then dive right into Logan Falcone and his "band of brothers".
The character development, dialog and intricacy of plot were so well executed! I thinks it's safe to say that there is a clear growth spurt in writing skill from Debt of Fear to this book--not that Debt was in any way bad but that Sins of the Father upped the ante on every level.
I don't *ever* do much plot summary but I will say that this plot reminded me very much of the heart pounding action you would get from Tom Clancy's Patriot Games. Where you, the reader, are whisked into the frenetic energy that comes with war games--fighting terrorists--from the top down (presidents and senators--to Falcone's cell group--to the actual terrorists)
In the genre of Military Thriller, it doesn't get any better than this, never boring, never confusing, never a dull moment. This story keeps you turning the pages. And again, I'm impressed with the research that must have been done on behalf of the author in order to generate such a believable narrative. It felt real.
If you're going to buy any of Mike Reid's books, the Logan Falcone series is where its at!

The president is up for reelection and basically is telling the world that terrorism has been eradicated. Logan and his team know differently and one of his team members gets killed on a mission, Logan starts to fall apart. Why does he continue to live while those he love keeps getting ripped away from him?

Holy crap you guys! What a great continuation of Logan Falcone's journey. Debt of Fear sets up everything that comes up in Sins of the Father. And while Debt of Fear was a fantastic read, I am blown away by this one. It's rare that you'll find a second in a series book that just EXPLODES and this one definitely does (pun intended!). It's clear that this book has been deeply researched and I feel for each of the characters that he has taken the time to build intricately. He also gives good scene - there's a flying scene near the beginning of the book that had me picturing Top Gun! (And now I have Danger Zone stuck in my head again!).

One thing I want to point out that I like about this book, especially in the relevance to today's world, is that while the terrorists are Muslim, the author also shows a side of the non-radical Muslims who are in the US for better opportunities and living a peaceful life. I think it's important to point this out because people have a tendency to pigeon hole a race and it's unfair and unacceptable. Every race, every group of people, every crowd of people, same race are not, have spatterings of shit holes - that doesn't mean everyone else associated are the same. /rant.

Action packed from the very first chapter, it's an absolute page turner with a revelation towards the end that I did NOT see coming!! People, get involved with this military action thriller. You won't regret it. Thank you so much to the author for this copy in return for my honest opinion. Not only is the author someone I consider a friend, but he is extremely talented and this book shows how he is growing in his talent with each book he writes and I expect it will continue in this trajectory.

Sins of the Father is Reid's second book in the Logan Falcone series, and it's even better than the first.

The action starts straight away and doesn't let up until the very end of the novel. The are multiple characters POVs, and quite a number of new characters this time around. As I've said in previous reviews, Reid writes characters exceptionally well, and this book showcases that talent. Whether it's a young boy in Yemen, a reclusive CIA agent, or a group of Navy SEALS, Reid creates characters you care about, and that is essential to any good story. He also writes complex villains, and deftly manages to play with the reader's emotions regarding honor and loyalty. The action is fun and kept me turning pages, but the characters are what makes this an exceptional thriller. When lives are in danger, you care.

Not only that, but Reid sincerely managed to surprise me a few times, and at some points had me questioning the intentions of so many characters. Page after page of intense action, fantastic character development, and a few unexpected twists makes this military thriller a great read from start to finish.

Do you enjoy thriller authors like Lee Child and Lawrence Block? What about military thrillers by names such as David McCaleb, Ronie Kendig, and dare I say: Tom Clancy? Michael Reid, Jr. can stand against them all! Sins of the Father is my first military thriller and I have to tell you, it was like watching one of the best take action.

Logan is one of those special ops agents who takes failure to heart. After a huge loss against a terrorist cell, he feels he can't deal well with anyone else dying, but there's no rest for the emotionally weary. After a botched attempt to clear a terrorist facility in the mountains of Yemen, Logan finds he can't run anymore and must take action. Sadly, he's a man directly beneath the President- and who's up for re-election; with so much going on, Logan's absence is terribly obvious and a burning wick for an explosive story. All events brings the daring hero face to face against the very man Logan's been haunted by- BUT his enemy may be the only one to save our country from all out war.

Sins of the Father is all about the action, from beginning to the very end. As you read, you feel as though you're actually watching a movie. Reid uses a style of writing that's more than simply sharing; he kept me baited with each and every chapter. I developed a relationship with the main characters, and even a few on the side, because he was careful on how he presented every one. Also, I'm telling you, it's like many of the events were ripped right out of today's headlines (minus N. Korea) and felt like it all could truly be happening! Especially the parts where you just want to say terrorism simply is over.

You have to read this book- oh, but you have to know that Sins of the Father is book to of the Logan Falcone series. There is a book one, but you don't have to read it. I will now though ;) So grab yourself a copy of both books- you will like them. I guarantee it!

Cheers!

Do you ever read a book and get so involved you are surprised when you get to the end? That is exactly how I felt when I reached the last page of Sins of the Father. Not only was I surprised I finished the book, I was also bummed. I wanted more! I would be quite happy if Michael Reid Jr wrote another Logan Falcone book.

Debt of Fear was a great book but Sins of the Father took it to a whole new level. Not only did some of the great characters come back, we also got to meet some new ones. There was quite a large cast of characters in this book but they all played integral roles and they were well defined so there was no confusion. Reid sure knows how to write characters! I loved most of them and absolutely hated some of them. They were all so complex that I really found myself questioning everyone's motives; even the ones I loved, I still wasn't sure I was able to trust!

Michael Reid Jr really stepped up his game with Sins of the Father but I truly feel like we haven't seen all he is capable of yet. I will be waiting (im) patiently for his next book!

First, I should disclose that was given a copy of The Sins of the Father in exchange for an honest review. It is interesting to note, that I was given this opportunity even though I only gave the 1st Logan Falcone book (Debt of Fear) a 3-star rating and I don’t routinely give out 4 or 5 star reviews.
I gave Debt of Fear a 3-star rating because I just didn’t feel that the story was believable; however, I still enjoyed the story, I liked that there was an attempt to show the emotional strain that Logan had to deal with. I stated in that review that I thought that the author had a great deal of potential and, I am happy to say, that this potential is realized in The Sins of the Father.

The Sins of the Father is a gritty, complex story on the war on terror and the physical and emotional trauma that each character must deal with in this fight. There are no invincible super heroes in this story. Good guys sometimes fail or even die. Sometimes the bad guys win or survive.
The terrorists have their own emotional trauma that has shaped their lives, caused them to go down the path of a villain and aides in understanding what motivates them to become a terrorist.
Like in real life, the good guys in The Sins of the Father sometimes make bad decisions or do bad things, sometimes to the point of becoming a bad person. Sometimes bad guys do good things. That doesn’t negate the bad they have already done but does humanize them and make you feel some empathy for them. You wonder if they had made a different decision in the past and had risen above their emotional baggage if they would have continued to be a good person or if it was inevitable that it would have just delayed the inevitable. It also makes you admire even more the ones who were able to overcome their fears, and their physical and emotional pain in order to protect their fellow soldiers, friends, family and country.

Logan, and all of the characters in Then Sins of the Father, are emotionally impacted by the horror that they and their loved ones have faced. They all have suffered the loss of loved ones, many have made decisions that turned out bad or had unintended consequences, many blame themselves for events that they were not responsible for, and must deal with the weight of the pain and suffering that they have caused to others even if it was for what they believed was a righteous cause.
The story moves quickly with a great deal of action that never lets up. Numerous twists and turns keep the reader engaged and unsure how each event will turn out. Both the reader and the character experience individual events and become aware of information that seem unconnected but, begin to come together to paint a picture of a possible epic terroristic plot that could fundamentally change America.

Can Logan and his team discover and put together all of the pieces needed to learn about the true plot that has been set in motion? Can they overcome their emotional and physical trauma to do what they must do to discover the truth and to stop the plot before it is too late? Read the book, you won’t be disappointed.

While there are many books that have an “Rambo” type hero who singlehandedly must stop a terrorist plot, few have complex characters that feel pain, that deal with fear, guilt and doubt. Few make you understand that people are not pure good or pure evil and are often motivated by things that happen to them in the past that they had no control over.

If you are looking for a fast-paced, thriller with fully developed, complex characters, I highly recommend that you read The Sins of the Father.

I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review and that's exactly what I plan on giving.

I'm not gonna spoil this book, because I wan't everyone to read this book and I feel like if a book is spoiled people don't really feel like reading it. Plus, there's no need for spoilers anyway. Let's get on with the review.

I enjoyed Debt of Fear and ended up giving that book 4/5 stars and was super excited when I found out Sins of the Father was coming out. I love military thrillers and anything military or war related! I have a deep respect for our men and women who serve and even if this book is a work of fiction I can't help that fact that it only deepens my respect. It made me realize there are so many things we don't see our men and women go through and how hard they fight for US (not U.S.. US as in you and me).

Probably the thing I love most about this book is that is raw and real. It doesn't try to mask things and it talks about some serious things such as terrorism. I loved how Logan, the main character, wasn't afraid to cry or show emotion. Most men show their emotion even if they don't want to. It's something that's natural. Often times books try to make men out to be brick walls that are emotionless unless they love a girl. This book showed the how men really are. It showed love, sorrow, anger, grief, happiness, hopelessness, worthlessness, and so many other emotions. This book took my own emotions on a flipping roller coaster ride!

This book wrecked me and I loved every minute of it haha. This book made me feel things I didn't know a military thriller could do. It was so easy to connect with the characters and feel the things they felt. I felt their anger toward the terrorist killing their men, I felt their sorrow and pain when things went wrong, I felt their joy and excitement when they were taking a step in the right direction. Everything about this book just felt so real.

The writing in this book is so amazing that there was always a clear picture in my mind of what was going on. I really would love to see this book become a TV show because that would be totally epic! Everything just flowed so beautifully and went so perfectly together that it was very easy to pick up and read. I would have finished this book sooner if I had the time. I'm just glad I got to finish it today....well it's bitter sweet because the book is over and I want to know what happens.

Speaking of bitter sweet, this book has some of the best plot twists I'v encountered! There were so many things I wasn't expecting to happen. I often found myself writing "wow" in my notes! Which is exactly how this book has left me feeling....just "wow"......so much "wow" haha.

If you're looking for a totally badass novel then this is the one. So freaking BADASS! I love the action in this book and the way it's described. Man, I can already feel the book-hangover coming. This book was definitely worth the wait and definitely worth the read.

Let's talk about this cover shall we? This cover just screams "total badass awesomeness right here, baby!!!" Or at least that's what it screams t me. I like this cover so much. I love how simple yet aesthetic it is. It's not over done, but it still tells just enough. It's like candy...always going back for more and oh so sweet!

Anyway, this book deserves all of the reads and I recommend it to all of the people!! Amazing read!

This book is impressive! Sins of the Father, a sequel to Debt of Fear is riveting! Before you open the book, the cover tells a story. The details throughout are invigorating...I could not turn the page fast enough! The characters are real and well defined. The story line is emotionally captivating.
I was so engaged and realized that this could really happen - not just in the world but here in America. It is obvious that the author, Mike Reid Jr. spent a lot of time obtaining details which made this novel come to life - reality. This second book in the Logan Falcone series is exceptional. It has been wonderful reading this book and watching a great writer continue to blossom. You will not be disappointed.

Another book falls to Finish February! Each February my goal is to finish all the books I started the previous year but did not get to finish before the year ended.

This is the best thriller I’ve read since Tom Clancy.

This book is designed to pull you along page by page by page! Before you know it you’re two hundred pages in and just awash with all the emotional responses possible! Intense military action, strong and believable characters, scary possibilities, stunning plot twists, this one is worth reading and you’ll find yourself at the end faster than expected because of the intense pacing!

I was a lucky proof reader of Michael Reid's second book. I thought that he worked hard on the continuation of the storyline and the character development.

Michael Reid Jr has become a respected and adept author and I look forward to reading his future writings.

Sins of the Father is one of those books you find yourself totally immersed in and never has a dull moment.  There’s never a good “stopping point” to put your bookmark because it really is that fast-paced.  You don’t want to stop turning those pages.  I had pretty high expectations going into it based on friends’ reviews and after reading the first book in the Logan Falcone series, Debt of Fear.  That being said, Sins met and exceeded those expectations on every page!  I found myself reconnecting with the characters from the first book and forming stronger bonds with them.  And I felt what they felt.  Each character has a different outlook on the war and on terrorism but you find yourself seeing it through all their eyes and minds.

There is one character, The Candyman, that I basically fell in love with.  I do not want to give too much away, but I am happy that Reid introduced such an awesome character in the second book of this series.  Sins is not just a continuation of the characters in Debt of Fear, it is a total evolution with new locations and characters.

One thing I noticed in going from Debt of Fear to Sins of the Father is the growth in the writing style of the author.  Reid’s ability to weave together multiple story lines and give us the descriptions and dialogue we need is spot on.  Debt of Fear is a great book, but Sins completely blows it out of the water in every way, shape, and form.  I am not what you would call a “Military Thriller lover” by any means, but I will definitely read more of this series/author and it makes me wonder if I have actually been missing out on a really good, heart-pounding genre??

Another thing Reid does here is he never makes you question the story.  I mean, I am no expert in government, military, or terrorism, but nothing here seemed far-fetched or out of control like a Mission Impossible movie.  Everything just felt real – and even if it isn’t, the point is that I *thought* it was based on how Reid told the story.  One thing Reid never skimps on when writing is proper research behind the subject and story.

This was an easy 5-star read for me!

I liked this book, but I think I would have liked it better if the author had done a bit more research. I'm surprised, given his bio, that his central premise contained a serious flaw: per the Posse Comitatus Act, members of the military do not conduct police actions on U.S. soil.

I like realism in books of this genre, and I felt that this book seriously lacked realism. It entertains, but only if you don't know the subject matter very well.

The book also has some pretty serious technical flaws that I found very distracting: some grammar errors, punctuation errors, and a host of serious formatting errors. I can only hope that these issues have been corrected since I acquired the ebook in my library of "to read" books. Without those flaws, I would likely have given it an additional star. I'm sorry, though. Editors, proofreaders, and formatters are all worth what they're paid to keep an avid reader like me from disappointment due to such technical issues.

Setting: Yemen
Time Period: Modern Day

“Sins Of The Father” is the second book in the Logan Falcone Series and though I missed reading the first book, this one threw me into a world of CIA agents, mysterious compounds in the Middle East and the fight against terror in the US and abroad. I’ve never read a book set in the country of Yemen before, and my oh my, did this fast paced story paint a picture I won’t easily forget.

If you’re a reader of my reviews, you’ll know that I mostly read Christian Fiction; so I’ll begin by saying that this book does not fall into this category and is not written by a Christian author. There is bad language, and as usual, I don’t approve of that, but it does come with the territory when you go outside your normal genre.

What I liked about this book was its fast paced plot, deep characters and global setting. From the first page, I was captivated by “The Candyman” and how he survived in the Middle East for so long without getting caught by Muslim extremest; all the while scavenging needful information for US on the whereabouts of terrorist and their plans. The Candyman and many other characters brought the story to life in a way that felt all too real. Even the bad guys had interesting backstories! And did I mention when the “mole” was revealed at the end I was shocked? The twists, turns and emotions all came together in the end for a satisfying, yet, shocking conclusion.

Conclusion: “Sins Of The Father” was an intense ride! Even though this is a work of fiction, it reminds you that the war against terror is still an ongoing battle our intelligence agencies face everyday. I think the subject of terrorism is tough to read about in any form, and the author did a great job depicting the danger and sacrifice that goes into such a job. This novel won’t spare you the death or hatred that comes along with this topic, so be prepared for that if you’re going to pick up this book.

Sins of the Father by Michael Reid Jr. is a riveting blend of raw emotion, military precision, and psychological depth. Logan Falcone isn’t just a hero he’s a man torn apart by grief, vengeance, and duty, making his journey both devastating and deeply human.

Reid masterfully captures the chaos of combat and the quieter moments of doubt that follow, creating a story where every choice carries moral weight. The tension is relentless, but what truly grips you is Logan’s inner struggle a haunting reminder that the greatest battles are often fought within.

With cinematic pacing, sharp realism, and emotional authenticity, Sins of the Father transcends the traditional action thriller. It’s a story about loss, loyalty, and the steep price of redemption one that lingers long after the final page.

A must read for fans of military thrillers who crave intensity paired with heart.

A very good book that makes you think about the future of the USA.

The book has very good characters and the characters have a good flow into the story. Some of the happenings in the book make you think about what is happening to the USA now, with all the people being let in the USA without them being vetted. There could be a lot of sleepers that are not known. There is a lot of blood in the book, but it fits the story line. Some of the story lines sound so real it makes you think they could happen or could be in the planning stage. The author put this book together with a lot of planning. The only thing bad about the book is there isn’t an ending, each book is continued. Read and enjoy.

He knows what dirty things the president has done. that stands as a problem for the president when he tries to run for re-election. what will happen read to find out?

Outstanding

This novel transported me to every port. It was frightening but so clarifying/enligtening. I enjoyed it. I became very scared at times. Most times awed by the challenges that occur with our truly patriotic heroes. The brilliance of our military and their appitutde. Good job with this story. When a story like this is able to stir the mind as this one, I know there are real people out there whose lives have been shared.
