The Scanguards Vampires series - over 1 Million copies sold worldwide!

Emotionally scarred by the death of his blood-bonded mate and unborn child several years earlier, vampire and Scanguards bodyguard John Grant avoids women at all costs, desperate to prevent another heartbreak. But when single mother Savannah Rice begs him for help finding her kidnapped daughter Buffy, he can’t help but feel drawn to her and the passion that lies dormant behind her blue eyes.

As they work to uncover a child trafficking ring leading all the way to Russia, John and Savannah allow themselves to find love and support in each other’s arms. In doing so, they are forced to confront their mutual guilt and fear while fighting to rescue Savannah’s daughter and the other girls who have fallen into the hands of an unscrupulous villain.

But even if they can destroy the trafficking ring, and save the girls, will Savannah be strong enough to love John once he reveals that he is a vampire who craves her blood?

OK, sprained my wrist last week, so the less typing the better...

Anyways, Blah blah blah.
Boring.
John's first wife only died 4 years ago while 8 months pregnant with their first child. (the child died too).
He meets Savannah through the police when her daughter Buffy is kidnapped by sex traffickers.
Bad guys are super evil.
Some interesting side characters... well they were actually more interesting than John and Savannah.
John lusts after Savannah. Tells her all about his first wife. But I never felt like he loved Savannah or she him. No romantic chemistry at all.
sigh.
I knew I should have let this series rest like I said I would with the last one I read.

I would still read the author but not this series. It is dead as a door nail.

"John's Yearning" by Tina Folsom. Book 12 in the Scanguard's Vampire series.

I really enjoyed this new addition to the Scanguards series. This is John and Savannah's story.

John is a vampire working for Scanguards with a tragic past, loosing his wife and child in a devastating accident. Savannah is a human woman whose daughter has been kidnapped and she needs Scanguards help to find her. But Savannah's daughter is not the only one missing. Twelve female children have been taken and even though this case is not vampire related, when John meets Savannah, he can't say no, even when his boss, Samson, says to turn the case over to the human police. John has an instant attraction to Savannah but she doesn't know that vampires exist. And John just can't open his heart again and risk getting hurt again. He had his one chance and he failed, he doesn't deserve another.

Savannah will to anything to get her daughter back. The police have no leads so she's told to go to Scanguards for help. The longer her daughter Buffy is missing, the more desperate she feels. When a man named John takes the case, she puts all her hopes with him. But when Savannah is in danger and John rescues her, the relationship between them is blurred. How can she possibly take comfort when her daughter is missing? She never expected to be brought into the world of child trafficking. Even stranger, she's brought into the world of the supernatural. If this is the miracle it takes to find her daughter? She'll take it!

I really liked the story line in this book. It's a dark subject to read about but Ms. Folsom does a great job handling it with care. The romance between Savannah and John was really well done as well. You really feel the emotions each of them have; John's guilt over loosing his wife and child and not thinking he deserves to love again; Savannah's guilt for thinking she's not a good mother and the guilt that she feels for taking comfort during such a devastating time. All these emotions are very well articulated. The chemistry between John and Savannah is excellent. Really hot and passionate. I also really enjoyed the supporting characters of the hybrids, the children of the original Scanguards vampires. Amaury's twins (Damian and Benjamin) and Samson's son (Grayson) are Gabriel's son (Ryder) are very interesting characters and in this book we get to see their character's grow and how they act. We also get to see some of the Stealth Guardians in this book as well, combining the two series.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one.

John's Yearning as the twelfth entry into the Scanguards series stays true to the series. Folsom weaves a good story with diversity, and as always with Scanguards, plenty of adventure, suspense and sexiness.

Savannah Rice's eleven year old daughter Buffy--yes Buffy, has been abducted and Savannah has been referred to Scanguards by Donnelly who thinks this may or may not have preternatural involvement. John Grant has been "lost" for the last four years after the tragic deaths of his mate and child. John is definitely up for the challenge once he gets an eyeful of Savannah--who has a few similarities as his deceased mate, Nicolette.

Against Samson's wishes, John takes the case and seeks the hybrids, Ryder, twins Damien and Benjamin and spoiled, hotheaded Grayson, to help him find Buffy. To John and Savannah's horror, they learn that Buffy has been abducted by a sex trafficker along with twelve other young girls. Time is running out to locate the girls before they leave San Francisco for Russia.

The Good

While I have not read any of the Stealth Guardians, it was interesting to see the vampires working with a different faction besides Donnelly and the police.

The hybrids are coming into their own and maybe Grayson will eventually learn how to follow in his father's footsteps with some humility and patience. There is still hope for him.

The Bad

Folsom's choice of Buffy for Savannah's daughter's name.

The Ugly

The subject matter this story deals with...the ugly business of human trafficking. Unfortunately, in real life there is not really a happy ending. Lives have been irrevocably changed forever and there is often no team of heroes who can bring them home before lasting damage is done.

These books always deliver a solid story, good characters, and a HEA ending to make you smile. This book was no exception.

We met John in a previous book and he’s got oodles of baggage. He lost his previous mate in a pretty horrible way and now he’s justifiably reluctant to get into any real relationships. He’s become a workaholic to hide from his demons, but this only ends up pushing them back to the surface when he gets assigned review of a kidnapping case involving kids. Savannah is desperate to get her little girl back and John might be the only person who can do that. Even after being told not to pursue this non-supernatural case, John is drawn to protect this poor little girl with the unfortunate name of Buffy.

Savannah and John were a little bit of a strange couple. Their relationship grew out of this very high stress situation, but became a real thing, even at the end. That and the mystery of the kidnapping were the highlights of the book. Man, I still hate Grayson. Some of that younger generation is super annoying, so I hope we don’t have to spend much more time with them. There were also parts of this book that made it clear I should probably have read the spinoff series. That being said, I was still able to enjoy it all. I’m glad I picked this book up, because now we have some closure for poor John.

John Grant is given a possible assignment to check out a series of missing girls to see if a vampire is involved. Along the way he falls for one of the mother, a single parent named Savannah. But he’s still feeling guilty for the death of his first blooded bonded wife who died just a few years earlier.

This story is basically a crime drama mixed with a supernatural romance but while not too complicated it is interesting.

Footnote: 1) As per the author’s recommendation you should probably read ‘Stealth Guardian’ books 1, 2 &3 before this one. While you don’t really need to have read the crossover ‘Stealth Guardian’ series there is enough overlap to make it preferable.

2) I’ve read so many books involving sex scenes that I mostly skim them now looking for anything unusual to pop out. Found a few in here.

Fave scenes: Deirdre & the shrink, the red wine, Savannah’s acting entrance and tears & ice cream. And not a scene but an idea: Deirdre’s Russian revenge list.

Another awesome Scanguard book from Tina

John has lost his wife and their child she was carrying in a horrible car accident and accepted his vampire to be one of lonely darkness until Savannah comes to ask for help finding her daughter. Then the story as only Tina can tell it begins. Bring tissues, you will need them. John's journey is filled with heartbreak and Savannah's is dealing with her child being taken. Can they find her in time? John and Samson even have words that I thought would break them apart. See lots of questions to find what happens!!! You won't be able to put it down until you reach the end! Awesome book Tina !!!!😍

3 stars. First off, I really love how the heroine was a black woman. I love the way her looks were described and I love how she was portrayed. Yes, she was a single mother, however, it wasn't because of the stereotypical reason. I also like the fact that the series is trying to Tackle different issues such as child trafficking. With that said, why is it always Russia? I didn't like that stereotype. I have also sadly lost interest in this series. I am no longer excited to read the books. They have lost their appeal, they have become cheesy and predictable. The way the book is written is just so flat and felt kind of like a manual. I don't know if I will continue reading this series.

This story is fast paced and exciting. It is also emotional and heartbreaking.

You catch up with some of the other characters which is always great. The Scanguard young, some of whom are now adults, are also bought fully into the story-line.

Although the subject matter is harsh there is some great humour too.

This was well written and an "unputdownable" book. It is stand alone but it is part of a series.

John's Yearning...

This book had me gripping my kindle. I cried and laughed. John lost his family some time ago. But the post trauma still lingers. Savannah comes to the Scanguards for help with herissing daughter who was kidnapped. There connection is crazy good. They must battle some bad people and their guilt with the past as they fall for each other. Of course he gets some assist from the Scanguards. The new generation steps in to prove themselves. This book is everything you need for an awesome read and great movie. I can't waitvto read the next generation.
