A Midwesterner and self-proclaimed nerd, Evan has been an avid reader most of her life, but five years ago got bit by the writing bug, and it quickly became her addiction, passion and therapy. When the voices in her head give it a rest, she can always be found with her e-reader in her hand. Some of her favorites include, Shayla Black, Jaci Burton, Madeline Sheehan and Jamie Mcguire. Evan finds a lot of her inspiration in music, so if you see her wearing her headphones you know she means business and is in the zone.

During the day Evan works for a large homecare agency and at night she’s superwoman. She’s a wife to Jim and a mom to Ethan and Evan, a cook, a tutor, a friend and a writer. How does she do it? She’ll never tell.

Broken Souls is truly about two broken souls, tied together by tragedy. One is seeking redemption, comfort and peace while the other is seeking revenge. This was a heartbreaking tale of not only broken souls, but souls that were lost. Without revealing too much of the plot because the author created an interesting twist, there are second chances and lost chances. There’s forgiveness and regret. There’s grief, addiction and love. If tales of woe and angst are your thing, you’ll definitely get a kick out of this one.

Broken Souls by Evan Grace
“Can two wrongs make a right? 4 stars”

I honestly don’t even know where to start with this review. It’s been almost twenty-four hours since I finished Broken Souls and I am still at a loss for words. When I love a author and their words I often don’t read the blurbs for the stories about to come out, I just read them when they become available. I have no idea what I was expecting but it wasn’t this. I don’t even know what to say for fear of not doing the story justice and giving away too much.
Brylee made a mistake when she was a young teenager, a mistake she has paid for tenfold for years. Going home to the scene of her past is the last thing she ever wanted to do, but when family calls you go. Brylee takes you on this journey of forgiving herself for her past sins and finding life afterwards. Broken Souls has a happy ending…just not the kind you will expect.
If you want a story that will play mind games with you and at the end the only thought you’ll have is What the Heck, then Broken Souls is a story you should fall into. The only reason I am giving it a 4 is because I wanted more from the end, and when you read it Broken Souls you’ll know what I am talking about without giving the story away.
Plot- 5/5
Characters- 5/5
Heat- 5/5
Writing style- 4/5
Overall- 4/5

I am an emotionally drained mess. Never, in a million years was I prepared for Broken Souls. I could not have anticipated the effect this book would have on me. I have read another book since reading Broken Souls, but keep coming back to thinking about this story. I cannot get it off my mind. I was a blubbering mess for half the book. I began to relax a little halfway through and got to the end and....... Yeah, the rug was ripped right out from under me.

Chase and Brylee. What broken souls these two really were. Their story was unlike any other before it. Never before have I read something quite so gripping, making it one of the best books I have ever read. In my life. Out of thousands and thousands of books I have read, Broken Souls is one of the very best. The unfolding of this story has to be read to be believed. So much happens. So much a mystery. Intense and breathtaking.

If you love a story that grips you and you fear you may never be the same again, then this is definately the book to sink yourself into. Broken Souls was unique and impressive. I have said this before, that authors such as Evan Grace are rare and something to cherish. My desperation to absorb this story was not something I have felt quite to that level, and the memory of this book will never leave me. I am so glad I read Broken Souls. It was an unforgettable journey. I give this book 5 stars. The incredible way it was written and the way it made me feel was quite stunning. I am eternally grateful there are authors like Evan Grace who deliver stories like no others and provide such specific memories, it will leave you gasping and craving more.

I received an advanced review copy from Foreward PR & Marketing and the author for a fair and honest review.

I'm sad, shocked and upset. This is not your normal HEA and I think the book should come with a disclaimer, as the synopsis is misleading. There is not one tragedy, there are two. This was a shocking twist but not all twists are good. This was horrible!!!

I was highly enjoying the book until, a shocker and then I wasn't. I can't believe the emotions I am feeling right now. I'm mad. I don't enjoy these types of stories and I'm ticked that I read this book, got invested and then had my heart torn out. Some people may enjoy these types of books. But I do not like reading what happened with the second tragedy. If you are looking for a feel good story, this is not for you.

My review started as a three, but as I wrote my review, it creeped down to a one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Broken Souls
By: Evan Grace
4.5 Stars

Holy Crap on a Shingle… What in the world just happened? I’m still taking deep breaths and blowing into my brown paper bag… My head is spinning from what just went down. Way TO Go Evan Grace!!!! You nailed that explosion.

What a book to pop my Evan Grace Cherry with! What an emotional journey I just went on. This book, my hands are still shaking…can’t even begin to put down how this story got to me.

A super sad story to read about what happens to loved ones, family members, friends, etc. when something horrible happens. But with sadness all around, there comes a time when you must stop living in the past and live for the future. Because everyone deserves a future…no matter what the past dealt them.

A story of losing everything, losing hope, losing the ability to live and just hoping that one day, forgiveness will be had.

Dark, hopeful with a twisty, twisty turn….

*drops kindle*

Yes, that was me at the very end of this mesmerizing, addictive read. *checks kindle for damage*
I expected dark. Got it. I wanted a read I could get lost in. Check! What I didn’t expect was everything else... Life is full of loss and when regret, guilt, grief and revenge mix, there is going to be pain…

Brylee was living in a haze, though living was pushing it. When she came back to town she waited for the hate to return… Chase took one look at the woman he’d despised for so long and his thoughts and actions went to a low place he hadn’t even realized he was capable of. What followed shocked and surprised both of them. And me…

Once in a while a book sneaks up on me with something so unexpected that I sit back and wonder how it could happen. How did that blind-side me? Where in the ever-lovin’ he** did that story turn come from? This was definitely that book. These characters were wracked with pain so easy to see and feel. The author made me crawl into their heads – and hearts – to reveal what they didn’t want to show anyone.

I’m still decompressing from their incredible journey. Maybe my heart will recover. One day…

Man oh man where do I even begin with this one? I have struggled with how to write this review without giving anything away for days. I have been an Evan Grace fan for quite some time. I really love her writing style and how she pulls you into the lives of the characters. This one is very different from her other books but by no means, in a bad way. This is definitely a story about heartache and mistakes and more importantly how to overcome them. I have to say this book really threw me for a loop and no I am not going to say why because again I do not want to give anything away. What I will say is read this one and read every word. When you get to the point of WHAT THE EVER LOVING HE** JUST HAPPENED, you will know and will feel the knot in your stomach, I have no doubt. My head was spinning and seriously I had to reread those parts to make sure what I read was really what I read. It takes a lot for me to be shocked, but I can honestly say this one definitely shocked me!!

5 stars isn't enough for this book!! Even though by reading it I now have a broken soul. ** warning you will need Kleenex while reading this book. But it is so worth it!!! This book literally swallowed me whole and drug me down its rabbit hole of life's pain. It is so beautifully written,I mean Evan Grace did a excellent job of creating a story unlike any other. With twist and turns and then she throws you for another loop and you have no idea what is coming. With some books you know how you can feel what might happen well with this book you have no idea because what you think might happen...yeah good luck with that!!! I even had to take a break before I even wrote this review and I'm still tore up over this book!! Where I know this review will not do it justice but I'm still trying to wrap my head around this book!! Like it is so wonderfully twisted and will have you so twisted up as well you will be like wtf did I just read!!! And holy he!! It was so good I can't stop thinking about it...book hangover here I come!!! I absolutely love Evan Grace and have read most of her books and this to me is a little different from her norm but omg so good and I highly highly recommend this book!!!!!

This is one of those books that I posted on my Facebook page, tagged my friends who read and wrote TRUST ME. When we say that to each other, we know not to look at reviews or read blurbs, just buy it and read it. I wish my review could be just that ... TRUST ME!!!

I finished this book 2 days ago and have already re-read it. I want to tell you all about it but it would just ruin it for you. I will tell you this (and I'm aware this is TMI) I take Zoloft because I'm old and menopausal. I used to be a crier, big - ugly sobs and after starting the med a few months ago, I don't cry (a random tear shed is the equivalent of a sob). Well that all changed with Broken Souls. The way Brylee views herself - oh my. This book had me feeling all the feels and I have such a book hangover. It's one of those books that days later I'm still thinking about.

I absolutely recommend this book!!!

Evan Grace is one of those authors who I unquestionably one click, you will be glad to one click this also.

This is one of those books that makes you cry and has your emotions on a roller coaster!

One mistake ten years ago changes a lot of lives. Brylee Whitmore has lived with the guilt for the last ten year and only comes home to visit because her father just had a heart attack. She has been a shell of a person and is a loner who can't get past the guilt of what she has done.

Chase Foster has been angry for the last ten years and when he sees Brylee running on the streets, he does something that will change their lives forever! We find out what happened that caused Brylee to run away and Chase's life to spiral out of control before his friends intervened.

The first part of the book made me cried and almost broke my heart because we find out what their lives were like 10 years ago and what happened that caused their lives to changed forever. Then we find out about Brylee and Chase's lives and how the tragedy impacts their lives after Chase impulsive action. You will never expect what happens and it will surprise you.

This book will touch you and takes your emotions on a ride! I loved it even though it made me cried and my heart hurt at the beginning! Ms. Grace wrote such a powerful story!

SIGHING...Evan Grace..Evan Grace..Evan Grace...What can I say about Broken Souls that Will Even Make Sense. After finishing reading (literally a few minutes ago) this Mind Blowing Book, I'm a Speechless and a Blubbering Mess! I've Never Read a Book quite like this one and I'm still crying as I'm writing this review!
Brylee and Chase story starts when they are teenagers in high school..she's about to turn sixteen & infatuated with the Hottest guy in school. She thinks he doesn't notice her but you can clearly see the attraction between them while passing through the halls. Then on Brylee's 16th Birthday something tragic happens and Everything Spirals downhill. This Book is NOT for the Faint of Hearts because it deals with Depression, Anxiety, Heart Wrenching Sadness & Suicide. But there is Passionate Love & Unexpected Excitement of Happiness. Let's Not Forget a HUGE TWIST & a Box of Tissues handy!!
Evan Grace is a First time AUTHOR for me and She BLEW ME AWAY WITH this Dark Beautiful Suspenseful Book! I'm looking forward to Reading More of her Books! A MUST READ BOOK!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chase
I feel it the moment she falls asleep. Her body is wrapped around mine like a spider monkey and her weight settles on me. Puffs of her breath hit me in the neck—it smells like coffee and sadness.
Brylee completely shattered in front of us earlier and I should’ve been happy. I should’ve enjoyed every second of her pain, but instead, it created an ache in my chest. The loneliness, despair and guilt came off of her in waves and the whole time I kept waiting for the joy to come, but instead, I had to keep my legs locked to keep from going to her.
For ten years she’s literally tortured herself because of what happened. I’m surprised she didn’t try to kill herself again before now—before I brought all the pain back to her and threw what happened into her face.
I’ve been a shitty person over the years—I’ve hurt people intentionally. I’ve used people and discarded them like they were trash, but this is by far the worst thing I’ve ever done. What’s sad is over the years I couldn’t wait for the moment to come to destroy Brylee, for destroying my family, but my ma is right. It was an accident—a terrible fucking accident and she’s punished herself enough for a lifetime.
OMG! I have no words that can properly express my feelings after reading this book!
When Bryley was 16, she made the biggest mistake of her life ... she accidentally killed a 13 year old boy, who was the younger brother of Chase. Bryley and Chase had been crushing on each other, but after the accident that all changed. Bryley ended up in juvie, then a mental institution and finally alone in Chicago ... barely existing. Chase ended up in a motorcycle club and eventually becoming a heroine addict. With the help of his brothers he overcame heroine, but he still held on to all the anger of his brother's death. Ten years later Bryley comes home to help her parents after her father's heart attack. But when they see each other again, it was a nightmare and a dream for Bryley and Chase. I don't want to say anything more because I don't want to wreck the story for others.
I started crying in the beginning chapters of this book and then by the middle I was smiling ... but at the ending ... well, you wait and see. I wanted to hate Chase ... but I couldn't because he was probably even more broken than Bryley. Perfect title "Broken Souls"! Most books I can guess the ending, but not this one! Even the next day I'm still in shock. I had to wait till the next day to write this review, because I had so many feeling running through me ... even now I'm crying as I write this. This is one of those rare books that will be on my mind forever! Was it all a dream ... a nightmare ... or real life!
I graciously received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for a honest review.
First, let me say that I have read every single book published by Evan Grace. Second, I read the blurb to this when it was first posted and I couldn't wait to read it. Third, the first two points don't mean anything because this book was so different from any of her previous published books, it's actually different from any book I have ever read which is quite hard for me to say because I read at least a book a day. There isn't a way to prepare you for this beautifully written emotional roller coaster of words.
This book is not a usual Evan Grace read; it was so much more. Be sure to have tissues near while reading, u may need them. I will definitely not be able to describe how fantastic this book is, so do urself a favor & read it.
Brylee is a good sweet girl, who makes a horrible mistake that causes her life to move into a completely different direction. This causes her to believe she is not worthy of life itself. When she has to come home & relive the nightmare. BAM out of nowhere ur thrown for a loop. As the shock starts to wear off from the initial twist u are trying to not like the way the story leads, but u can’t help but think wow wtf. Because seriously this book is fiction & u know this, but u get so engrossed in the story u love how things are going. BAM again out of nowhere ur again saying wtf. Brylee & Chase 2 broken souls who both need to forgive & move forward, but are too stubborn for their own good. It takes some time, but forgiveness happens eventually, along with moving forward with life. The twists & turns throughout make it one the most, if not the most intriguing books of 2017 for me. This book was written so well u are sucked in & ur are in no way expecting the twists that happen within this story.
Mind blown!
This story was definitely different than anything I have ever read. It's beautifully dark, edgy and gritty and definitely one that will stay with me for a while. Evan Grace did such an amazing job bringing the problems of guilt and grief between two characters and made me feel their gut wrenching pain and love with them.
The story of Brylee took me to that dark hole she was in and gutted me while in it. Chase and his grief took me down a different but equally as dark kind of space where his hot rage and need for revenge made my heart hurt. Two families destroyed by one tragic event and the road to forgiveness and redemption is anything but easy. Everyone deals with trauma differently before we can heal.
Evan Grace messed me up with this beautiful story and has me in a puddle of mush from this book hangover. That epic unexpected end has me twisted in the best way. The scale needs a special kind of rating for a book like this where 5 stars are just not enough! Broken Souls is definitely the perfect title for this must read story and that amazing cover depicts exactly how you feel after reading this. Loved every moment of it and would definitely read again.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
She destroyed Chase's family. Now after ten years Brylee Whitmore has returned to their home town, giving Chase his chance of revenge. He thought it would be simple, but she has changed. He was supposed to make her pay for what she has done, so why does he feel like he has to fix her instead?
Brylee never would have returned home if her dad had not been sick. Coming back was a mistake. Chase plans to exact his revenge and she deserves it. She is suppose to pay for her sins, but now he wants to fix her instead. Too bad there is nothing left to fix.
Broken Souls is a book that will blow your freaking mind. I swear you will need some kleenex too. I don't think I have read a book quiet like this one. This is the story of two broken people who need to forgive each other and Brylee needs to forgive herself. I loved both of these characters and my heart broke so many times for them. This however is more like a journey you take instead of a book you read. An experience you will not soon ever forget.
This was my first time reading a book by Evan Grace. It sure will not be my last. She has certainly blown me away with this book.
Broken Souls by Evan Grace was one of the best books that I have read in quite awhile. This book had me bawling from the beginning. It was heartbreaking and made you fall in love with Chase and Brylee.
Brylee comes home after years of moving away. The memories are just too painful for her. The only reason she is even there is because her father had a heart attack. She prays that she doesn’t run into Chase. She was in love with him since high school but then the unthinkable happened. Brylee has been paying for what happened everyday. Chase wants her to hurt and watch her suffer. The more time he spends with Brylee, he knows that she has been suffering the entire time and he knows that he has to forgive her. They spend so much time together and their feelings are so strong for each other.
Sometimes things aren’t as they seem!!!
I absolutely LOVED this book and Evan Grace did an amazingly awesome job messing with your mind!!!!
Heart shattering. I think that is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to this story. This is one story full of utter heartbreak but also rediscovery of yourself after going through something so tragic. There are moments you want to yell but you want to cry because of how much these two fight but heal each other.
Brylee is such a shattered person. I could only imagine the pain that she went through. Add the pain from Chase and it is such an explosion. There are some heartbreaking moments as these navigate their healing from such a tragic accident. Then that twist. OMG that twist at the end. My heart shattered. I was literally going omg what just happened!!!
One thing you can guarantee from Grace is a heartfelt story. It feels like real life happening and it really makes you feel and think. I honestly would highly recommend this book if you want a book that makes you feel it all!
I am not the kind of person to think about a book for long after I finish it. It has been two hours since I finished Broken Souls and nothing has taken my mind off of what I just read. This is not your typical Evan Grace book, with that said I am super impressed. This book is dark and twisted and I loved every moment of it. People say all the time "oh I couldn't put that book down" but trust me, give yourself some time to read this one because seriously you will not be able to put it down and you shouldn't. Kudos Evan Grace you stepped out of the box for this one and it was amazing.
I need to give this book at least 10 stars!!
I am not going to talk about the story at all. I believe this is a journey you have to take with the characters. The blurb tells you all you need to know to start. It is certainly not a straight and narrow road.. it is full of speed bumps and turns, wicked hair pin turns that will take your breath away. It is so well written, I know I will still be thinking about this book weeks from now.
If you only read one book this month - pick this one. It will be so worth your time. This author took me on a fantastic ride and I can't wait for others to enjoy it as well.
What a crazy ending that I did not see coming at all. This book seriously broke me, I have been thinking about it for hours and I still can’t even wrap my head around how it all played out. If you loved books that will have your emotions all over the place, you dying to find out what happens next, and a plot twist that will have you lying on the ground crumbling under the weight of the sorrow, then this is the book for you. It does have an HEA and it is not a cliffhanger hanger but it is not one you will expect! Enjoy the ride!
4.5 STARS!!!
When it comes to this book, I think it will be it will either be a love or hate type of read because of the characters actions. I however, thought this was a great read. There was a bit of suspense, romance, revenge, forgiveness, love, with great friendships and families. This story focuses on Brylee and Chase and I enjoyed not only their characters but also the side characters. I finished the book in one sitting; I was truly hooked once I started it. I definitely had a moment of "wait, what just happened" near the end of the story. There was a part in this story that was so unexpected, after finishing the book I was still wondering what happened. However, the ending wrapped up nicely and sweet even. I would definitely read more books from this author in the future.
I had no idea what i was going into with this book. I got into and fell in love with the characters. Brylee is an amazing well written character. I absolutely loved reading her story. She is a strong woman that suffered something at a young age. She moves away from her past and tries to deal with it but that does not happen. She comes back to town to spend time with her father who is ill. She runs into Chase who is a huge part of the past and that is when the story gets interesting to say the least. I was shocking surprised at what happens at the end of this story. Literally out of the blue the story takes a turn that you never ever see coming. I wanted to literally throw my kindle as i started to read what was happening. I wanted to scream and cry. Yes it was that shocking. But it was amazingly written. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend reading it. I guarantee you will enjoy it.
Oh my God! Where or how do I begin to even review this book? Seriously, what in the heck did I just read? I'm still in shock. I had to re-read the ending again. Get the tissues ready. This book is one of the best books I've read by Evan Grace. It was so beautifully written and tugged at my heart. This book did something to me and I can't explain what it. It was not what I expected at all but, the more I read it, the more I feel in love with it. I'm still in shock. You will not be disappointed or able to put it down.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Holy Wow!!! I love Evan Grace's books and this is not your typical Evan Grace book. This is a dark read. I was in tears by the end. Make sure you have tissues. I fell in love with Brylee and Chase from the beginning. The ending was not what I expected. The story will stick with you for awhile.
