Steph Nightwind has taken an oath to serve the Crimson Coven. After his Seelie Court found their long lost Prince and bonded with the Savage Mountain Dragon Circle, Steph the Court Warrior found himself redundant. He felt like he no longer had a purpose. The Crimson War brought him honor and a place in the Crimson Coven as a soldier and an equal. What Steph doesn’t expect to find is his forever mate, and he certainly doesn’t expect to be rejected. As the drama unfolds and Steph finds himself torn between the love of his new home and the pain at his mate’s rejection, he has to wonder if he can remain at Crimson or if he must strike out again alone. Will he let his pride keep him from hearing his mate out and fixing all that has been broken?
Fulton Raines is an old vampire. He has been around since the time of Alexander Stone’s father and has known nothing but the life of a vampire warrior, constantly on the move. He was called back to Crimson to defend the Coven in the Great War, but now he has been ordered to stay and spearhead the rebuilding and expansion efforts. The captivity is chaffing at him. When he walks smack into the path of his fate destined chosen, its just one more disappointment. Fulton has a history with The Fae, and it is not a happy one. He lashes out and earns the scorn of his coven and the contempt of his chosen. Will Fulton let his prejudice destroy a fate chosen love? Or, can he seek redemption in the arms of his beloved?
B.A. Stretke is a Gay Romance and fiction author who publishes through Dreamspinner Press, LLC, and Amazon.com
B.A Stretke began writing as a hobby. He read his first Jane Austen novel as a teen and was instantly hooked. The age-old dream of being a novelist took hold. Now long into adulthood, and a few years as an editor under his belt, B.A. is a full-time writer. B.A. spends his days reading, engaging in sarcasm, and plotting the next storyline, often leaving little headspace for much else. He loves hiking through the Northern Michigan woods he calls home, often finding inspiration for his books. Writing and finding that perfect cup of coffee occupy the rest of his time.
B.A. Stretke lives in Northern Michigan with one royally spoiled cat and his dear friends and family.
Fulton and Steph were great together once they got over their problems. Which were mainly caused by Fulton.
At first, I wanted to slap Fulton upside his head. But once he got over his prejudices, and pulled his head out his butt, he was exactly what Steph needed. And I loved he wasn't afraid to show his love for Steph.
Steph was a sweet badass. (If there wasn't ever such a thing there sure is now) I absolutely loved him. My heart broke for him when Fulton said what he did, but I loved how he wasn't afraid to stand up to him.
All in all, it was an awesome read... But we shouldn't expect anything less from B.A Stretke.
I was so excited for these 2 and Stretke didn't let me down. As usual fated mates, just enough drama, steamy, a little emotion. I love B. A. Stretke for the quick lite reads that pack just enough punch to be interesting and not to sweet. So sad for that this is the finale. But the glad we see more of Crimson. This was a great read and I always recommend Stretke, he is a master of the quick, lite reads for genre and I always anticipate his books.
Once again another great book of the continuing story of the crimson coven. Learning that one person shouldn't paint your entire perspective of an entire race. A vampire and a fae clash and find where they complete the other. Just because you are 300 years old. Doesn't make you a good man. Sometimes a little faerie can make your rough edges smooth again.
Well, the beginning would have been perfect if Fulton hadn't acted like such such a hateful jerk towards, Steph, his chosen. Ugh, why must one mate always feel so rejected? It breaks my heart and takes the joy right out of the story for me. However, later Fulton comes to his senses and the plot was very gripping overall. I loved it (and how the war was handled). I found it to be quite a spellbinding installment. =)
Fantastic start to the Crimson Vampires new beginnings. Hard fought love story between Fulton and Steph. Fortunately in the end Fulton overcame his prejudice. Surprisingly Fulton and Steph's start in life was basically the same. Wonderful full circle ending. Highly recommended reading this book and the entire series.
I wondered how this book would go without the strife and conflict of the war, or some other external pressures on Steph and Fulton. Even without it, these two characters were both so strong-willed and stubborn that I never noticed any lack. I loved that neither of them felt intimidated by the other and when confronted, both Steph and Fulton fought back. But even more, I loved that they were eventually able to see through the anger, hurt, and prejudice to find their HEA.
The books are short, the stories concise and formulaic. Minor spelling errors and some lack of punctuation can cause slight distractions from the tales. But none of that will stop you from falling in love with the Crimson Coven. The characters are unique, likable, and the stories flow smoothly and comprehensively from one book to the next. B.A. Stretke writes the kind of addictive series that makes you anxious for the next chapter, the next character, the next love interests, and the battle. Simply wonderful!
I was worried that since the last book finished with a huge bang and resolution that this book would lack, but even though the plot was stickler romance based, it wasn’t boring.
There was a lot of prejudice and some redemption but honestly I wanted to see big bad Fulton on his knees begging for forgiveness. I thought it was still well done, I just always want more grovel and I think Steph deserved it.
I love all of B.A. series. This is a very good read. I like my vampires, faes & werewolves. Read the series, you'll love it. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Thanks B.A., keep the coming. DB
Love it so Much! I love this series, so much emotion that you can feel the hurt and rejection, the feel the love and Acceptance! Love It! Can't wait to read more, but it seemed to end for Good! So sad but happy, want more!
I just absolutely love these books. Although short reads they are packed with action, humour and great streamy scenes. BA Stretke I my favourite MM author by far. The storyline is always amazing and the characters keep you wanting more. I hope he never stops writing! Xx
Life is getting back to normal and old soldiers are called into help. Fulton comes back to help and meets Steph, who to his horror, is his mate--oh no a fae! Good story with a little angst, romance, and good friends and life. Recommend.
Handling of prejudice was smooth and easy to believe. The romance was good and I love the ending pointing out that Harris is going to finally get his forever love.
Typical BA Stretke rejected mate story, where the bond forces them to quickly change their minds and accept each other with little to no effort. But it's a guilty pleasure, I enjoy reading them.
This was a darling story about an old set in his ways vampire finding and rejecting his mate because of prejudice. Steph, a fae was humiliated and deeply hurt by the public rejection. While a bit too short for my desire, the book was long enough for Fate's magic to work and for our couple to have their HEA. I really liked the ending scene where another vampire finds his mate washing dishes in the kitchen of the Crimson Clover (shades of Cullen and Ethan).
