Beyond Doubt

Rate this book
This BREN & SIX novella contains massive spoilers for the Beyond series. It is meant for existing fans of the series who want to get a glimpse of what life looks like for their favorite characters after The End. It may be confusing and unsatisfying for readers not familiar with the world and characters. If you haven’t read the series, please proceed with caution…

O’Kane for Life…

Winning a war might be enough for most people, but Bren and Six aren’t interested in kicking back to enjoy peace. Not when they finally have the time—and resources—to tackle the mess left behind in the sector they now rule.

Especially the orphaned street kids.

Six remembers how hard it is to trust. Bren remembers how hard it is to be patient. Together, they have the skills and the power to make a better world than the one they grew up in—but only if they can be honest with each other about the future they want.

Not just for Sector Three, but for themselves.

Once upon a time, two best friends decided to write paranormal romance. And while that was awesome, they also sometimes wanted to write insanely dirty stuff that wasn’t paranormal at all. This is that stuff.

Kit Rocha is the dystopian-erotic-romance writing alter-ego of writing duo Moira Rogers.

I feel so sad rating this low, but it really felt empty. Not at all as the previous series. I feel very disappointed in this story even considering that Bren and Six were not my favourite.

By the way, if I understood correctly, this takes place before Ashwin?

Good fast read. Makes me want to dig into the series. Lots of subplot goodness with trying to make sense and order out of their new world. And lots and lots of 🔥🔥🔥🔥 including an ***mild spoiler*** orgy and F on M flogging scene.

Beyond Doubt gives readers a chance to revisit some of our favourite characters after the war has ended. Six is now in charge of Sector Three and leadership sits heavily on her shoulders but Bren is always there to back her up in whatever way she needs. I loved seeing them working together and trying to turn things around in Three, life hasn't been easy for people living there for a long time but Six and Bren are determined to make things better for everyone, but especially for the numerous orphaned children.

I don't want to say much more than that because this is a fairly short story so it's better for you to find out how it all unfolds for yourself but I really enjoyed spending time with this couple and seeing what their life is like now that the war is over. Don't worry though, just because they're based in Sector Three doesn't mean you won't see some other familiar faces from the O'Kane family!

This was a fab snippet and I'm really looking forward to more of the O'Kane for Live novellas.

I loved this. It's all about chosen family, that's at the center of it. The last bit gave me so many feels and made me all verklempt.

It was wonderful to revisit these characters. This book brings as much heat as the others, and I was glad for that. I loved the bit where Bren and Six are watching a group scene at the party.

Note: cannot be read as a stand alone, best read after reading the Beyond series through book 9.

Loved this. It felt so good to be back in the O’Kane world. Bren and Six are a well-matched couple. I love that Six’s version of happiness isn’t the stereotypical homey home, picket fence and a handful of children. She’s such a kickass. I’d forgotten about Bren, and his nuances, it was great to read about him. I wanna go to their fighting school.

Obviously, don't read this novella if you haven't read the Beyond series. This takes place after Beyond Surrender, like a check-in to the characters we know and love. Beyond Doubt has BABIES in it. *screams excitedly* Everything is lovely with the O'Kanes. They're trying to put the Sectors back to rights after the war, and they're doing well. They're going to hit some struggles, but after what everyone went through? I think they're doing okay.

Six and Bren are trying to piece together Sector Three and it's going to be tough. The kids of the Sector still aren't trying what Six wants to do for them. They've spent too long fending for themselves. But Six will do everything within her power to give these street kids a home and some semblance of safety.
They might be leaders, but when the O'Kanes gathered together, they were something better. Family.

I love this novella. And as the usual with Kit Rocha books, even with novellas, we get multiple POVs, and not just from Six and Bren. This novella may only be 71 pages, but it is a sexy one. I highly recommend reading this for anyone who has read the Beyond series and wants to read something happy with the O'Kanes. They've been through so much, so it's nice to just read about them after their happily-ever-afters.

I loved this look of life after the war, of everyone building things back up. At first I didn't think Bren and Six would be the best ones to have their point of view, especially as they are building up Sector Three. However after reading it I realized Bren and Six were the perfect ones for the first look of life in the aftermath.

Six was uncomfortable in her role as leader, but she made good choices with how to proceed. Bren was perfect in his support of her, from meeting with the "old men" to helping with the robber. I loved how they took a bad situation and turned it around, to give hope to those that needed it, to those that are the future of Sector Three.

As much fun as it was to see Six and Bren rebuilding Sector Three, it was better to see them go home to Sector Four and the O'Kane's for a night. I loved how Lex told them that they would always be family, no matter that they were in charge of Sector Three now.

Useless novella that left me completely disappointed even if I was happy to meet some old friends again, but mostly I couldn't even remember who's who and with whom....

Storiellina abbastanza inutile che mi ha lasciato completamente insoddisfatta, anche se ero contenta di incontrare i vecchi personaggi, purtroppo peró non mi ricordavo la maggior parte di loro né i vari accoppiamenti.

This is a perfect glimpse into Bren and Six's family in Sector Three.
I loved the tidbits on the other characters, but one years after the war, when everyone is rebuilding their lives, and the sectors - a different sort of family is just what this group of awesome characters needed.

This is one beautiful closure for Bren and Six's troubled past. Besides, it's always nice to see the tough ones crack in the best of ways :)

"How far do you want to go tonight?"
"All the way," he rasped. "As high as you can take me, sweetness."

Oh, my... It felt so damn good to get back to Bren & Six! LOVED catching up with them & getting that super-hot scene with them. They will forever remain one of my favorite couples in the Beyond series!

This is only for readers who've read all of the previous books. It's not a story so much as it is a glimpse into the lives of our favorite O'Kanes, an update on how they're all doing now that Kit Rocha has moved on to Gideon's Riders.

A fun, informative, and erotically charged peek into the lives of the O'Kanes-specifically Bren & Six- as they work on rebuilding their Sector and helping the homeless children who remind them so much of themselves.

In this novella, Bren and Six are dealing with learning how to find their purpose in Sector Three and it's a nice slice of life look at what's going on in the sectors now that the O'Kane family is in charge.

The story is told through Six's eyes. She's strong in her resolve to run the sector, even though she's not entirely accepted by all. The best part of the story for me are her interactions with the children starting to show up at their door. Six sees her own circumstances there and is determined to help them... somehow. Her commitment to making a better life for them melted my heart. I think this was the part of the story that I adored the most.

There's a nice dose of the rest of the O'Kane family. Dallas and Lex are always entertaining when they are in debauchery mode and there's a heartwarming scene with Ace toward the end that had me smiling.

This novella works best if you have read the other books in the series and this really isn't a standalone. But this is a great series, so it's all good. I can't say that Bren and Six are my favorite characters in this series, but I will say that Beyond Doubt did make me love them.

There are too many babies at O’Kane parties for Six these days; she’s happier in her own little sector. She and Bren are rebuilding parts of Sector Three every day and her idea of domesticity is cleaning their guns on the dining table.
With time out for a visit to the Broken Circle.
Noelle could go on for hours trying to tease out the whys and hows of the things that turned her on, but Six had embraced a simpler attitude toward fucking. An O’Kane attitude. If it got her hot and bothered, it was good.(Kindle Locations 562-564).

[damn right, honey]
But then it’s home again to see if they can help all those lost kids. And to do that, they need jobs for people to work at.
And as if they need babies, sector three is full of lost kids - all on the streets, trying to survive the way she had to do back before the O’Kanes rescued her and Bren helped her remember her own name.

Hope

I loved the Beyond series books "Kit Rocha" penned about a post sun flares Earth, where those in power ruled absolutely from the walled off center of a self sustaining city they named Eden. In this spinoff series, a revolution has been fought and the rebels from the district's are now in the process of rebuilding. This series opener features Six and Bren, rulers of district three, as they work toward not only rebuilding industry there, but tackling what to do with the children living on the streets, children just like they once were. This is an excellent follow-up to Beyond and because of the storyline and introduction of characters, that series needs to be read prior to beginning this one. It more than sets the stage.

We all know I am a huge fan of the series, and this slice of life novella was just what the doctor ordered as I wait for Deacon to arrive in August (YAY!)

We check in on Six and Bren in Sector 3, post winning the war against the evil forces in Eden. Now, the cleanup is underway and as with all wars, the most vulnerable of the victims need assistance: the street children. Six and Bren both know what it's like to live the hard life on the streets and encounter a group of kids who may make them feel even more complete that they already do.

You can count on Kit Rocha to make room for sentimental moments, hot sexy time moments, and hints of what is to come in the O'Kane world. Another wonderful read!

I have loved Six since we first met her, way back in the ...first Beyond book? Or the second?

Where she ends up, and what she needs when others are making more standard choices, is just gorgeous. This is a novelette, I think, short for a Beyond story, and so perfectly hardscrabble-beautiful that I'm still tearing up as I type this. I finished reading it in a dentist waiting room while my son was in, glad that they had a box of tissues handy, so I'm writing this a few hours later, at home, where I'm still a bit leaky.

You could read this on its own, and get enough to appreciate it. For the full impact, start at the beginning, and then re-read this one. When you do, let me know. I want to read your updated review. :)

O'Kane Legacy at its BEST...Tough, Warm, Funny!!! 10 Stars!

Oh I would dearly love to hug the creators of the "Beyond" series. Only Truly Gifted author's can have you panting through hot sex scenes in one chapter. Tracking down and disposing the villains in the next. And then write with such tenderness the following chapter to bring tears to my eyes. Such are the wonderful author's of this series!

This story follows Six and Brent in the days after the war. They are building their sector one day at a time...one person at a time. It is hard work. Emotionally draining. but if the rewards to come. And the best rewards may be the smiles of the children

What an absolutely unexpected delight!!! I had no idea this novella was coming until shortly before it came out so I was really pleased to be able to touch base with characters who have become almost like family to me.

This novella is about Six and Bren, and gives us a little insight into how Six feels about all the baby-making going on with the O'Kanes. It also shows us how things are going for Bren and Six in Sector Three, and the plans and dreams they have for the future!!!

So pleased to be able to immerse myself in the lives and times of the O'Kane family once again!!!

Bren and Six will never not be my favorites. We get a look into Sector Three and how they're trying to rebuild it after the war which was heartbreaking and hopeful all at the same time. I love that Kit Rocha is doing these little novellas for our favorite O'Kanes along with the new series in Sector One! And I think they said the next one is about Lex and Dallas, score! (also I totally hope Laurel gets her own book., talk about a badass)

Six is one of my favs. Bren complements her so well. If you haven't read the series you'll be lost. SPOILERS abound so make sure you've read them all. It's a perfect little bite for our insatiable appetite for anything O'Kane. You will LOVE 💘 this novella. It's a quick read. Over way too soon for my liking but I forgive you Kit. Thanks for keeping us updated on our favorite sector. Can't wait for the next one

Ok, so tears everywhere! But happy tears, it was great! This is like the best post-work fanfic but BETTER because it's all canon and everyone is in character. It was seriously amazing to finally get to see these characters who all fought so hard for not only their own HEAs, but the whole society's better future, to finally get to live it in peace and start to make the better future happen right before their eyes. Oh, my heart! ❤️

Kit Rocha always delivers a heartfelt story. ALWAYS.

Beyond Doubt is another amazing, heartfelt story from the Sectors. Bren and Six are rebuilding Sector 3 one person and child at a time with care, trust and true heart. The sex is hot and the story heartwarming and perfect. It is great to catch up with everybody after the war that ended Eden's greedy reign and see how well they are all doing. Kit Rocha will always be a one click purchase for my Kindle.

ugh, I loved this. I love Bren and Six, and their determination to give the orphans and kids who have no one they can trust better lives and actual FUTURES. This was such a sweet damned story. And I always love that, though the books/novellas focus on a specific coupling, all of the O'Kanes are present. It's just not the same without them or their wicked debauchery. :D

I loved this peek into Brent & Six and their current life. Catching up with them and learning about the changes they are bringing to Sector Three made me so happy. They showed in this novella that a family can be whatever you make it. And their little trip to The Broken Circle was, as always, off the charts hot! Can't wait for the next in this Happily Ever After series!
