Lane Hart is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, D.B. West, and their two children. She loves all things beach related, especially sea turtles, and is a huge fan of the Carolina Panthers.
Overall Opinion: I think "underwhelmed" is a good way to describe how I feel right now about this book. It felt like pure smut at the beginning to where I was ready to give up on it. Nothing against what I call "pure smut" for you smut-lovers out there! I just personally prefer more of the romance and storyline, and with me coming off of a few super emotional reads -- I honestly ended up putting up with it more than I usually would. Overall, it just felt underdeveloped. This is a good example of why I'm not a huge fan of shorter books, because there just doesn't seem to be enough time to fully develop the story. The sex and love was insta, the characters didn't have all that much depth, and the conflict was totally underwhelming and resolved way too easily.
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Riley and Brody's story. Riley had just graduated college and ends up at Brody's beach house with his daughter for a week vacation. They both are instantly attracted, and it doesn't take long for them to end up in bed together. They end up having a weeklong secret fling that when separated neither of them can let go of. Circumstances put them together again and they fall in love. There is some family drama and some hot sexy times...and they get a HEA ending.
POV: This alternated between Riley and Brody's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Quick. I predicted early on that it was moving too fast and would have some kind of "bonus content" in the end (which is one of my pet peeves). It ended @ 73% on my kindle app, and did include another 5 chapters from another story, Jax, by the author.
Instalove: Yes. I didn't fully understand their progression into stronger feelings. Instalust? Absolutely.
H rating: 3.5 stars. Brody. I liked him more than the h, but not much. He definitely seemed to think with his other head a lot 😉😉
h rating: 3 stars. Riley. She was just okay for me.
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed
Push/Pull: Yes
Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes. The beginning definitely felt like pure smut, but it does get more into the romance part of the story as it continues.
Descriptive sex: Yes
OW/OM drama: Mild
Sex scene with OW or OM: No
Cheating: No
Separation: Yes
Possible Triggers: Yes
Closure: This had pretty good closure with what I would call a HEA ending
Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers
Oh my gawd! I absolutely loved this book! I enjoy an older man, younger woman story but it’s so hard to find a good one that doesn’t annoy me in some way. Wreck Me was perfect! These characters were wonderful together. The issues they had were dealt with in a manner that was completely believable.
I struggled with Riley just a tad bit at first but after getting some of her background my heart went out to her. I was happy that she had Brody to come along and help show her what her true worth was. The relationship between Brody and his daughter was a nice secondary storyline as well. Each of the characters in this book evolved and grew as they were faced with expected and unexpected life decisions.
I first thought this was just going to be a sexy romp but it quickly became so much more. This was a fast paced, well written, sexy read that has me wondering why the heck I haven’t read this author before.
There is intalove and then there is this. The relationship was far too rushed to be even remotely believable. They have sex for a week, during which they both act like immature brats, then they pine for each other for 8 weeks, she moves in, they go public, and it's over. Anything that might have explained their connection, or hell, even shown a connection outside of sex, is skipped over. Even all the drama with his daughter is magically resolved.
Not to mention what a 42-year-old man did to a college boy. No matter his reasoning, that was inexcusable.
This book had a great premise, but the execution was rushed and unpolished and the characters shallow and one-dimensional. It's a good thing this time that the book ended at 40%. I didn't bother to read the other books included with it.
So not what I was expecting! It was so much more emotional and entertaining! Once I started, I couldn't put it down! And it was super hot too! Lane Hart delivers with "heart" and soul!
Wreck me by Lane Hart a heart wrecking five-star read. This was such a powerful read, I have read more books by Lane Hart in the last few months that most authors I have read in all my years on this earth, and I plan to have them all read before the year is out. This book may be my new fave and it may just kick Trick of the top spot. (My previous favourite by this author and joint favourite read ever). If this wasn’t a stand-alone It would be a definite favourite as I could read more about the characters in this book, the main couple Riley Yates and Mr Brody Harrington are amazing but so are the secondary characters like Riley’s best friend Cheryl and her other friend who happens to be Mr Harrington’s daughter Sara. She is not my favourite character at the start despite being my namesake. But you can kind of see where Sara is coming from so I liked that, I liked how everything wasn’t laid out fully to everyone just to make like easier. It made the story real and more dramatic. My favourite quote of the book made me think of the author, the way the characters talk about Mr Harrington’s pictures is the way I feel about how Lane Hart creates words on a page. ‘I don’t just capture images, that I put my heart and soul into them. I would like to think that’s true, that I treat each subject like they’re the centre of my universe.’ This is an older man younger woman romance so not everyone will like it, but it’s a great read, and the level of heat is good, not ott and every other page, but there when you need it and it feels right. All I can say is thank you Lane Hart for once again writing an amazing story, and keep up the good work.
A love story with second chances, heartbreaks, romance and drama. You will love how all the characters draw into the this book for a great story.
Riley is excited to get away from it all at college. A much needed vacation with her besti. Even if its at a girls beach house that hates her guts for no good reason. Her besti Cheryl tells her its all okay and to ignore it. But how can she ignore it when everything still feels just as raw as if it happened yesterday and she still blames herself. Even if it wasn't her fault. No one but her besti believes her. She's thinking that beach time away will help old wounds and open new doors, then she sees who Sara's dad is. She can't help but gush with lust and stars in her eyes. Sara would kill her for the thoughts she is having of her dad. But it seems she may not be the only one lusting.
Brody Harrington wants the father daughter relationship he's always dreamed about with his daughter. But it seems everytime he makes an effort to be nice or do things for her, she just pushes him away or ignores him. He can't help but feel useless. He knows why she is angry at him. He still can't feel he could of done better. Then he spots her one friend a tall curvy brunette whose all but not wrong for him. But she's his daughter's friend and besides she is twenty years younger than him. He shouldn't even be thinking about her that way. It would only cause problems for him and his daughter.... but sometimes the most forbidden things are maybe a good thing.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.
I went back and forth with how I felt about this book: at first I was not a fan of Riley (the female lead) - she was so insistent upon seducing the father of her frenemy and it just didn't gel well with me, especially considering her background (which is hinted at early, but I won't say what it is because - no spoilers). It was sort of the same with Brody (the male lead) some of his actions and manner of speaking (particularly his dirty talk) just didn't seem in keeping with the personality that his character developed. But the book grew on me as I continued with it and as Riley and Brody's relationship developed. There were quite a few obstacles in their way and while I think that resolution happened a bit too quickly, I really did end up enjoying the book. I give Wreck me 3 out of 5 wine glasses.
I never expected to fall for a younger woman, but she’s all I think about.
She knows how much I want her, too. That’s why the beautiful tease is trying her best to break me.
Like being caught in the riptide, she’s impossible to resist.
And no matter how hard I try, I can’t stay away.
She's completely wrecked me.

REVIEW: 3,5 stars-- WRECK ME by Lane Hart is a contemporary, adult, stand alone, erotic romance story line focusing on forty- two year old professional photographer Brody Harrington, and twenty two year old, liberal arts grad Riley Yates.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Riley and Brody) WRECK ME follows an older man/ younger woman trope that focuses on the building but forbidden relationship between forty- two year old professional photographer Brody Harrington, and twenty two year old, liberal arts grad Riley Yates. School is done, graduation behind them, four college friends (Riley, Cheryl, Sara and Allison) head to North Carolina in the hopes of some well –earned rest and relaxation at Sara’s father’s beach front home only to come face to face with the man himself. Enter Brody Harrington, and the man with whom Riley will fall in love. What ensues is the secret affair between Brody and Riley, and the potential fall-out as past sins, the possibility of rejection, and the glaringly obvious age difference come into play.
Riley Yates’ college reputation continues to beat at our heroine’s fragile sense of self-esteem, a reputation fuelled by Sara Harrington’s need to destroy Riley at every turn. Meeting Brody Harrington offered Riley a chance at friendship, love and a possible happily ever after but keeping their affair a secret felt dirty and wrong. Brody Harrington barely knew his own daughter, a young woman who has never forgiven her father, for his many absences in her life but given a second chance at his own happily ever after meant hiding his relationship from the other woman in his life.
WRECK ME is a highly erotic and sensual story line of forbidden love; older man/ younger woman relationship that struggles in the face of potential backlash from Brody’s only daughter. The premise is engaging; the romance is passionate and sensual; the characters are coloful and charismatic.
My only concern is the author’s need to brow beat the reader using the term ‘slut’ twenty-three times, as a descriptor for a young woman caught in a world of betrayal and abuse. It is hard enough for women to be independent or enjoy themselves without fearing repercussions or attacks from men but to continue to perpetuate the attack using women as the weapon of choice, it disconcerting and heart breaking.
Brody has been alone for nearly two decades. He and his ex-wife didn’t have what it took to make a marriage work but have remained close, even with a continent between them. Not so for Brody’s relationship with his daughter, but maybe her visit with her friends to his home at the beach will give him a chance to rebuild that relationship. He’s immediately attracted to Riley, who is more a friend of a friend, rather than Sara’s friend, and someone that Sara barely tolerates since believing the malicious rumors about Riley. Brody wants desperately to connect with his daughter, but he can’t seem to stay away from Riley, so they agree to hide their relationship from Sara. (We all know how well that kind of thing works out.)
With a brilliant, heart-rending portrayal of real life, Ms. Hart definitely wrecked me with this phenomenal work. It’s evident that huge chunks of her heart and soul were poured into this piece, and her experienced voice resonates clearly from the vivid, realistic descriptions of beach life to the heartaches, challenges, triumphs and euphoria of a love between an older man and younger woman. From Brody’s emptiness and loneliness, to his troubled relationship with his daughter, to his peace and bliss in his new life with Riley, this book will take you on an emotional ride through a wide array of sentiments as Brody and Riley find their way to happiness. At turns heartbreaking and joyful, leaving you bereft and then fulfilled, this book will leave no corner of your heart untouched.
This is certainly not my favorite Lane Hart book. According to Amazon, the page # for this book is 379. That's a little hard to believe considering that the entire books seems rushed. I would think that in 379 pages, Hart would have been able to develop the characters more deeply. As it is, I didn't feel a connection with either MC. And, frankly, I don't see how the MC's developed any kind of connection with each other -- it was that rushed! Some of the more interesting aspects of the books . I could say the same with the relationship both MC's had with Sara. That whole dynamic could have been explored more. It would have given us a much more interesting, informative book, I think.
This is my first book by Lane Hart and I'm a fan! I fell in love with Brody instantly. He meets the sassy Riley when she comes to vacation at his house on the beach with her three college friends, one being Brody's daughter Sara. Brody wants to mend his relationship with his daughter but also cannot ignore the flirtatious Riley. They finally both give in and realize there is something more than great sex. Brody is such a sweet, alpha male and deeply cares for Riley. Even though there is an age difference, they have so much in common. Riley leaves after her week vacation with a broken heart. But, they end up back together and decide to give their relationship a serious go, overcoming a few issues. I totally recommend this book if you want to read a beautiful love story that makes you feel good and happy
Older man with a younger woman. There was an interesting twist to have his estranged daughter (who he's trying to build a relationship with) be a friend/enemy with the younger woman. Boy did they know how to burn up the sheets. Love of course conquers all in the end.
Lane Hart has quickly become one of my favorite authors and never seems to disappoint. This book is a standalone HEA story with a little bit of the taboo tastefully woven into the mix. As always, her books are easy to read and hard to put down. In this book, we meet Brody, a successful photographer with an unsuccessful marriage and a diminishing relationship with his college graduate daughter. When his daughter shows up with a group of friends to stay for the week, he hopes this will give him the chance to continue knocking down the wall Sara has erected between them. Queue the younger woman. Riley, a college graduate, who has been haunted by rumors and misplaced judgement amongst her peers. Her best friend convinces her to come along on this trip, even though Sara agrees with the rumors. Fireworks set off when she comes face to face with Sara’s father, Brody. She is determined to break down his defenses and make this a week to remember. Definitely would recommend this book to those who enjoy skirting the wild side with some hot monkey love!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I would have to give this book a 4 out of 5 star rating. In the first chapters I was like wow, then as I went along it was more like okay. Don't get me wrong I really really liked this book and am glad I bought this it. I was interested in the dynamic between Riley and Brody (the female and male main characters.) I really liked how they had to have their romance a secret but were in love nonetheless. It was very taboo since Brody was the dad of Riley's sort of friend. It was a nice touch that Riley was a tease and had a hard to get act in the beginning but as the book progressed she let her walls come down around Brody and told him the real reason why she acted the way she did (which I will not mention the reason why.) I do recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book, there was more than just a budding romance between Brody and Riley happening. Riley's been struggling with the reputation she's unfairly earned while attending university, and she doesn't think she deserves the happiness she wants and needs when it comes to a relationship. I really appreciated that Brody isn't the typical manwhore that are running rampant in the romance world currently. He really wants to connect with his daughter during her visit, but of course she wants nothing to do with him, which I thought she was acting like a 4 year old spoiled brat. I can certainly understand her anger, and I was so glad that Brody finally set her straight about what happened between him and her mother all those years prior.
The chemistry between Riley and Brody is electric right from the start, although Brody does try to maintain a respectful distance at the start. It's obvious how much they care about each other, especially the way Brody handles the issue from Riley's past. I was wondering what was going to the issue that would come between Riley and Brody and cause them to separate, and I was glad to know it wasn't the obvious reason what came between them. I like how the story wrapped up for Brody and Riley, and even for Brody and his daughter. Another fantastic book from Ms. Hart!
I LOVED THIS BOOK! Total perfection. If you're looking a older man/younger woman romance, look no further. Brody and Riley are totally perfect characters that are easy to love and the romance is one that you fall into.
This woman can write anything and I will be on the front row cheering and waiting for the chance to read it. I know that this may sound like I'm kissing some "arse" but I'm not. I'm only expressing what I feel and what I belive. If you have followed this author's career and had the chance to read my reviews you know why I'm talking like this but if you don't have a clue of what I'm talking about let me just give you one big advice... START READING! And get ready for the most amazing and beautiful rollercoaster ride of your life. Lane Hart has an intense, raw, amazing, hot and beautiful writing that can make you blush and smile but can also make you curse and scream... Just saying. Wreck Me is her latest release and tells the stories of Riley and Brody. Riley just finished college and went to some well deserved vacations with 4 friends to the beach. Lets just say that she wasn't very happy with the arrangements but she was super excited to see the ocean again. But what she wasn't counting on was the hunk of a man that she discovered at the beach... But... Brody had the chance to reconnect with his daughter when she went to the beach to spend a few day with him. He misses his little girl terribly but time had made them grew apart of each other. Is it wrong to want someone older than you? Or is it really wrong to date someone younger? Is there a limit age to find love? Or can it be confused with lust? Omg this book is something else. Sweet Jesus what a beautiful and amazing story this was. I knew that this would be a masterpiece but I wasn't counting that the intensity of it could take all air from my lungs... The plot is superb and the interaction between the characters is beautiful, intense, raw and so real. Of course that not everything is a bed of roses because we have some pretty bad people into the mix but the ones that matter are amazing. The ups and downs and the secrecy gave this book a very good vibe and made reading even more appealing. And my God the hot stuff is intense and will leave you in need of a few showers... Lane Hart you are amazing and I will tell this every single day. Your words touches me so deeply that made me love your books even more. So can you tell me what's next? Will you? I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Riley just graduated college and is going on a road trip to a beach house with her friends. Well one of them isn't really her friend. Sara doesn't like Riley at all. She thinks that Riley is east and sleeps with everyone, including a guy that she was after. Brody was Sara's dad. When his wife left him and took their daughter she moved all the way to the other side of the country. So Brody and Sara has had a very strained relationship.
Sleeping with his daughter's "friend" will not score him any points in the dad department while trying to repair a damaged relationship. But he finds that he can't stay away from Riley even if he wants to (not that he REALLY wants to). Riley has had a difficult time with men in the recent past. She has made herself believe that she is just as easy as Sara thinks she is, even though the way she got that reputation isn't quite the way the rumors made it out to be. So when she first starts this thing with Brody she is trying to wash out the bad taste the last guy(s) left behind. She sure didn't want to fall for him. He would have to choose between her and Sara, and not only did she not want to hear the answer to that, but she would never have even asked it of him.
So what happens? After the week is up, the 4 girls leave. Brody stays there wondering if he just made the biggest mistake of his life while Riley goes back to try to start her life post-college while nursing a broken heart. After a couple months of both parties feeling heart broken, they end up getting back together and decide that they are going to give a relationship a shot and just not tell Sara anything...... and so the story goes.
I was absolutely hooked into this book from the very beginning! There is no time wasted on getting into the hot stuff. There are some very deep issues addressed in this story. I never felt like the relationship was creepy or sick because of their age difference. I immediately fell in love with Riley and Brody. It had me feeling sad, then happy, then shocked, then sad again, then ending with an ending so happy that I cried to the point of needing some Kleenex! (and I still have Tom Petty songs on a loop in my head). *ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review*
At first I thought this was going to be a bland story with a slutty young heroine and a hot dad. However I soon got to realise that Riley is actually quite a gentle and pleasant girl but a nasty event in her recent past has made her feel worthless. It took me a few chapters to warm to her, she seems a little brash at first, but the real Riley does eventually emerge.
Whilst their relationship is very much lust based at first I liked how the relationship eventually developed over time. The chemistry between Riley and Brody is intense and super hot but I could also 'feel' and believe in their emotional connection too.
The book is written from both Brody and Riley's POV, so I felt I got to 'know' them both really well and I found both characters hugely likeable. The story is well written, I found it easy to read, I knew who was involved in each scene and who was talking. The pace is excellent with some good little sub plots to add depth to and really build the story.
There are some darker issues touched on in the book and the relationship could be considered almost taboo but the author has handled all of these with care and respect. Wreck Me is an enjoyable read, it held my attention and I cared about Riley and Brody.
HEALTH WARNING: If you choose to read this story, make sure you have your oven mitts on and take your heart medication! It's HOT from the beginning. It’s a story of a father whose adult daughter comes home for a week’s vacation after recently graduating college (with 2 friends and 1 friend of a friend whom she hates) for the week and one of the 'friends' catches his eye. Brody sees Riley as a ‘cock-tease’ when he first see her laying out on the beach barely in a thong bikini, but it’s not long before she stirs up emotions he hasn’t felt for a woman since his ex-wife and he develops true feelings for Riley as they develop a scorching hot sex filled relationship during the week she is there. At the end of the week, he lets her go reluctantly. She returns to her apartment struggling to find a job. Brody offers her a job, which quickly reunites the two and all their gloriously steamy emotions they have for each other.
Now, I won’t spoil the rest of the story for you…but let’s just say I love a good complex story, especially when everything gets heated...and I’m not just talking about the sex!! IT IS A MUST READ!!
When Brody's newly graduated daughter brings a couple of her college friends to his house for a vacation, his hope is to forge a better relationship with his semi-estranged daughter, who barely manages to be civil to him. When Sara's mother suddenly decided that she wanted to leave Brody and took baby Sara across the country, he didn't have the money or means to visit, and Sara still resents his absence from her early years. The last thing he expects to happen is to find himself unbelievably attracted to the friend she actually seems to dislike: dark haired beauty, Riley. Riley is still getting over a traumatic experience involving a bunch of unscrupulous baseball players and a handful of roofies, but she can't help herself when it comes to Brody, who looks like Charlie Hunnam's hotter brother. [Spoiler alert] The pair become secret and forbidden lovers, apparently doomed from the start due to circumstances. Great read - couldn't wait to explore their story. I was delighted to get an ARC copy to review.

I wasn't sure I was going to give this book above a 3 star rating in all honesty, I was stuck on a 40 something man bedding his 22 year old daughter's 22 year old classmate ( even though they weren't friends- just having common friends)... the 20 year age difference really ate at me for probably half of this book! This girl, she had such a bad reputation, then beds the dad within days of vacationing at his home -- doesn't really help said reputation... But I don't know, something about them turned me, maybe it's what he did when he disappeared all night THAT night, I don't really know, but in the end I hoped they would overcome the obstacles in their way and find a way to be together. The chemistry they shared was hot! But when he through her loop because he wanted to "make love to her" OMG... swoon... I mean yeah, it definatly showed a difference from the boys she'd been with from the man he is!! Lane Hart, another well written book, wish I could have been more on board with the age thing....
I received an ARC from the author. At first I was skeptical about the content, older man dating a girl who is sorta of friends with his 20 something daughter. After reading it, I was truly amazed. The characters had amazing chemistry despite the age difference. It was extremely well written and I absolutely loved Brody and Riley together. They were absolutely perfect for one another.
If you are on the fence bc of the age thing, it seriously was amazing. Brody totally fought his feelings and tried to stay away but in the end he just couldn't stay away!!!
If you love older man younger woman romance this is a must read! Lots of drama, angst but hotness overload. I loved Riley's character she has confidence but at the same time she's hiding inside herself. Then there is Brody thought he found love but never truly had the one. I loved the secondary characters as well except Sara of course ,girl got on my nerves all the judgement she laid on Riley. Another amazing story by Lane Hart that I'll never forget. 5/5 stars *** I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book ***
WOW, I loved this book about a 42 year old man named Brody and a twenty two year old Riley. Brody is hoping to connect with his daughter Sara who is visiting with her three friends for a week at his beach house. Riley wants him and she is going to ignore she best friend Cheryl's advice. Riley just graduated from college with a degree in Liberal Arts and Brody is a Photographer. A must read book that has hot steamy sences. I whole heartedly recommend this book. I give this book 5 stars. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Love it when I get a chance to read one of Lane hart books early always makes me smile. She never lets us down with her books and this one proves that's is a great book that's has you wanting more from the very beginning. You want to find out more about Riley and brody. It was a breath of fresh air to read this book as I have been reading a lot of the same sort of story and was getting a bit fed up where this book was different and had me hooked straight away .
Wow....I absolutely loved this story! The age difference between Brody & Riley did not bother me one bit, as their connection was off the charts! They just had an amazing chemistry together, and they were perfect for one another. Yes, they had some obstacles to overcome....but what couple doesn't? I hope everyone gives this story a chance, as it is truly incredible!!
