The guardians, the shadowy heroes of the top-secret program designed to protect members of the most elite government organizations, are being hunted down one by one. There is a single explanation: a traitor must be embedded somewhere in their midst. But if they themselves are the target, who will protect them?

CIA operative Renee Niezen has heard tales of the guardians, though she's never really believed in their existence—until she is approached by Charlotte, an old friend who desperately needs her help to stop the systematic destruction of the guardian program. Renee accepts the plea for assistance, but not everyone is thrilled to have her on the team. Kade—one of the last guardians standing—is unimpressed with Renee's qualifications and turns instead to the legendary Saint Squad for help. But when Renee is caught in the crosshairs, Kade must set aside his antagonism for the woman in order to protect her. Their grudging alliance soon develops into much more—but before the pair can examine their feelings, their investigation takes a dramatic twist. With lives on the line, Renee and Kade must use their spy training at every turn as they draw dangerously close to the shocking truth.

I know I can always count on Abramson to write a gripping romantic suspense and that's exactly what she delivered once again. I love revisiting favorite characters, learning more about them and meeting some new ones. I feel like the books build throughout the story, as well as throughout the series, block by block, and that completely draws me in. Although this is a new series, the Saint Squad is incorporated into this storyline and it's great to have them a part of it.

The danger and threats are almost tangible and had me on edge. There is NO WAY that I could be in this type of career because I'd wilt away from the stress and anxiety. The twists and turns had me reeling at times and I loved every minute of it. I can handle it if I'm on this side of the adventure--reading about it secondhand.

Renee has no idea how close to death she'll come when she agrees to help an old friend. It made me reflect on a question--how far would I go to help someone, especially if it meant saving many people's lives? I'm a chicken, so I don't know, but I'm glad there are some brave people out there. And Kade? Or Ghost Two, I guess I should say. He's a fabulous character and although he doesn't like people, he's very good with them, whether it be evading, assisting, or working with them. I especially love the way he interacts with Renee.

This is one series that leaves me anxiously awaiting more and it can't come fast enough.

Content: mild violence; mild romance.

Wowza, I loved the fast paced, action filled feel to this book! There was never a dull moment. Even the downtime in this book felt important and filled with some sort of tension. Books like this are exciting and exhausting! By the end I feel a huge sigh of relief that we all made it out alive. ha.

This book brought back so many old friends from previous books, all working together for one common goal. It felt sort of like a family reunion, but not nearly as happy and carefree. That happens when everyone is trying to stay alive.

This is exactly the kind of book I've come to expect from Traci Abramson. I love that I know what I'm going to get when I pick up one of her books. What a fun ride this one was! Sometimes quite literally. Wait until you read about Kade's "ride". :)

Content: Some violence and peril, some kissing.

Fast-paced, danger, CIA, intrigue, chemistry, false identities, cameras, hidden identities, horses, friends and family, murder, sabotage, SEALs, Senators, surveillance, a dash of romance. Mix all those together with a few other ingredients and you've got a great suspense novel from Traci Hunter Abramson!

I'll admit, it got my heart pumping a few times where I wasn't quite sure what was going to happen. The anxiety was real people!

This was my second novel by this author and my first suspense. I actually read a really cute and less intense book a few months back by her and absolutely loved it. So when I had the chance to snag a copy of this book I jumped at it. Also, after watching several friends loving her suspense books, I knew it was time to dive in! So yeah, I'm a little late to the game for this author's suspense novels because let's face it, she's got lots. Yes I went and looked and GR has her listed as having 28 distinct works, of which I would say definitely 20 plus of those are suspense. So here's the deal, a lot of those are interconnected and part of a series, even this one looks like it begins a new series. But this being my first book by her and not knowing anything about the backstories for several of the characters from her series, I enjoyed it.

Maybe I should give a little bit more info. This book contains characters who are part of what's called "The Saint Squad" and "The Guardians". So definitely several backstories that I was completely clueless over. I think the first couple chapters as all the characters were introduced, I was flipping back and forth trying to keep names and couples straight. But after that it didn't matter really. The book was written in such a way as to keep the reader engaged without feeling completely clueless if they're unfamiliar with any previous works by this author. Loved that, otherwise I think I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did.

There are several characters that the POV changes between a handful of them. I didn't find it confusing at all. The author gives us the bad guys' perspectives but mostly we are reading from Renee and Kade's POV, especially the further into the story you read.

The story has a few moments of calm but overall, the characters are working towards a goal of discovering who is trying to destroy a certain "hush, hush" program and the people who work with that program. It's very hush, hush that only a handful of people know about it. But when they all start to "die", the surviving members of the group must reach out for help, and quickly before they're all gone.

Renee is one of those pulled in to help analyze and save the group. Kade is one of those hidden Ghosts who is being targeted. It's a race against the clock. Trust is a necessity if they're going to survive, but when you've only ever trusted a handful of people, it's not something that comes easily. I loved Renee and Kade. The chemistry and sparks are real and add a great dimension to this story of suspense.

The suspense and mystery were well written. I assumed certain events would happen but didn't quite expect it how they did. I love when an author can keep me guessing and throw me off the scent of the trail. If you're looking for a fun, clean suspenseful read with a dash of romance thrown in, I'd definitely recommend this one.

Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further. Murder, snipers, and several moments of peril. Nothing overly graphic or that I wouldn't recommend for YA or clean read lovers. A couple characters in the book are LDS (mormon) but other than one or two mentions that they are, there is no other mention of religion throughout the book.

I received a copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

This is a nonstop action, mystery, thriller, romance, and adventure rolled up in one awesome book!

Our characters are all smart and not afraid to get there hands dirty or go into dangerous situations. They are all skilled in different areas of government. There are SEAL’s, CIA, FBI, NSA and the secret group called the Guardians. The guardians have access to all databanks. They are all ghosts or rather the world thinks they are dead and there are death certificates if you don’t believe it. But someone is killing off the members of this group. The guardians go into and protect those in trouble. And my job as the reader was to guess where this was going to go next or who could be targeting them. We are given a clue in the beginning and we are lost at the mercy of the author for more clues. I would fail if I were in any of these groups. Haha!

Renee is CIA. She is smart but she has never been out in the field, only trained for it. She gets pulled into the guardian mess to help figure out who is killing them one by one. Renee is in until she becomes the target. Now she is being protected and is under the watchful eye of Kade or Ghost as those in the world call him. He doesn’t want her help but once she becomes the target, he will protect her at all costs. There is some chemistry between the two. Kade fights it as eventually she will go her own way and he will never be free to have a life outside of what he does. Renee's heart didn’t get that memo!

I loved the Saint Squad and their families. I think they are in another book of the authors and I might have to go and read about them.

The action really is nonstop and I felt like I had whiplash trying to keep up! Don’t think you can figure it out, because there are a few curve balls thrown in there and you keep finding yourself striking out at guessing!

If you like action, adventure, mystery, guns, government secrets, good vs evil, a little romance, family, secrets, and doing what is right then this might be for you!

Traci Hunter Abramson knows how to write a great book! I loved that this book combined characters from different agencies featured in past books. I really need to read all of the Saint Squad books.

This book is full of action and suspense. I love how Traci is able to give you enough information to keep your interest, but withholds enough to keep you invested. She releases the information just a little at a time and keeps you guessing until the very end.

The characters are great, the setting is great, the story is great. (Can I overuse the word "great"?) This is a "great" book to pick up. (I am giggling in my chair because of my horrible grammar right now.) Seriously, if this is a genre you enjoy, get a copy, you'll be glad you did. This book can be read alone, even though it contains characters from previous series.

Every new book I read of Traci's becomes my new favorite. Safe House is awesome! Surprises and suspense on every page. I could not put it down and stayed up WAY past my bedtime so I could finish. I had to know what happened! It was so great to have the Saint Squad be in this book too. I really appreciated the subtle things Traci would do to remind the reader about character traits of the Saint Squad, as it's been a little while since I've read a Saint Squad book. They are such great characters and Traci writes them so well. I loved Kade and Renee. They worked well together and I loved their compatibility. Renee is so smart and savvy and she really surprised Kade with how awesome she is! This book is fast-paced and very exciting. So many twists and turns, I loved every minute.

5 out of 5 stars. The way it ended, I'm hoping there is another book about The Guardians!

Wow what an incredible book! I've truly enjoyed each and every book written by Traci Hunter Abramson, and this one was no exception.

The plot is intricate and intense. From the very beginning I was hooked and on the edge of my seat, devouring each and every page. Having read all her previous books, I enjoyed the many different characters I've come to know and love, but this book could also stand alone fairly well. Knowing all the other characters and stories from previous books -especially about the Saint Squad- does give it an added depth though.

The mystery, suspense and adventure will take you on a roller coaster ride, and the toe-curling romance is just the icing on the cake.

I really enjoyed the two main characters. Each came from a difficult background, learned to deal with it/overcome it, and worked hard to make life better for their country with the special skill sets they have. Seeing each of them open up to one another and work together to save lives was one of my favorite parts.

I really enjoyed it and am hoping for a sequel!

Well Abramson certainly did not disappoint me this go around! I love the books she has written about the Saint Squad, and Safe House is no exception. Immediately the reader is drawn into the action and suspense of the story, and it just doesn't let up! I felt myself tensing up, searching for clues within the book that maybe I was missing, and wondering to myself who was behind all of this madness! This book blends my favorite old characters of the Saint Squad with new characters I came to love as much as the old ones. Abramson has an uncanny ability to write intense action/suspense novels that keep me turning pages like a madwoman in order to solve all of the mysteries. If you love a good book with characters that become as real as your own friends, with action and suspense like your favorite movie, then I highly recommend Safe House! I received a copy of this book for free and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

MY TAKE
I LOVE Hunter's books, and I especially love how to ties the characters from other stories together, so one couple's story can touch characters I've grown to love in other books. In reading this one that had a lot of the Saint Squad characters in it I realized I'd missed one of those, so I'll be sure to go back to catch up on that book.

This new Guardian series is a lot of fun and has so much potential for future stories. I loved Renee and Kade, and now I want to go back and read the first book, Fail Safe again.

Hunter is doing something different in her books now, having an unfinished thread at the end of the book. I'm getting excited where I see some of them going.

The Guardians are Ghosts. No one knows they're alive--they all have death certificates, grave sites and their relatives and friends believe they're dead--so how can someone be killing off the Guardians? There's got to be a mole or a leak. But where is it--CIA, FBI, NSA, SEALS? Who wants them all dead and why? Renee Niezen is a CIA operative and finds out the tales she's heard of the Guardians is true when her friend Charlotte asks for her help to find out who's killing them off one by one. The only problem is Kade (a Guardian himself) doesn't really want her there to help.

I don't think Renee knew exactly what she was getting into when she agreed to help Charlotte. She probably thought she'd be poking around some secure data bases looking for a backdoor program or something. I already know I couldn't be a spy but I don't think I'd be a very good Guardian either. Kade has to keep his cool and work with people under very distressing and often dangerous circumstances, while trying to get them to safety. That's definitely not in my wheelhouse.

I liked that we got to see the Saint Squad when Kade asked them to help out. It's always good to see those guys. I feel as if they're old friends because I've read all of the books about the elite SEAL team. I liked that we got both Renee and Kade's point of view in the book. I'm in love with this new series by Traci Hunter Abramson and hope there are many more Guardian books in the future.

This is one of those Traci Abramson books that's hard to review without giving things away. If you're looking for suspense you've come to the right place. So much suspense, and even in the parts that are a little "quiet" (for lack of a better term) there's still a lot of tension in the air. I was so sucked into this story sometimes I forgot I was reading about fictional people.

I listened to the audiobook on the Deseret Bookshelf app.

Safe House (Guardian #2) by author Traci Hunter Abramson is a well written political/action thriller which easily holds the reader's interest. This is the second in the Guardian series but can be read as a stand-alone book. There are ghost agencies which do not exist publically in order to protect the best of our nations elite force of special operatives who are protecting the most powerful people and agencies in the United States government. Sometimes these forces can be undermined or targeted by those with an opposing agenda. Among these secret protectors are the Guardians. Now, someone is killing members of their group and has killed the senator who controlled the funds for their operations.
Renee Niezen who is a CIA analyst accepts a request to help her friend Charlotte, a member of the Guardians support team. Renee is now a target because she knows too much! Kade, a member of the Guardians has asked the Saint Squad (some are SEALS) to assist in helping to protect the remaining Guardians, their close families and find the snipers. Kade will protect Renee as together they try to find the shadowy leaks and secret internet searches which can lead a killer with an agenda to her door. Renee and Kade learn they have more in common than trying to find the identity of the persons responsible for the murders. I won't post spoilers!
A lot of interesting scenes and I loved the descriptions of Kade's living area. (You have to read to find out about this unique home on wheels!) A lot of stealthy action by brave people, a bit of romance, and wonderful friends!

Series, but stand alone read; Romance, clean; PG-13 for violence and suspense
This was a great suspense read. Complex situation, multiple points of view with the telling, all came together to make a great read. Always a winner for me. Revisiting some of the characters from previous novels as they try to solve the sniper attacks, all the while seeing the criminals perspective too made for an interesting point of view and way to progress the story. Great suspense, and loved the Saint Squad's determination, dedication, professionalism, and skills.

I love the way this author writes her books! She fills them with suspense, great characters and a love story that you don't want to miss. There's always tons going on in her books and I never want to put them down!

This one was fabulous! I loved Renee. As the book opens, she agrees to do a favor for an old friend, but she had no idea that it might cost her her life. I love that she wants to help find out what's going on, so even with the danger to herself, she keeps trying. She has to go into hiding with one of the guardians, Ghost or Kade.

I liked Kade too. I liked that he tried to make himself more aloof from Renee, because that's how he is with everyone, but he can't quite do it with Renee. He keeps letting out little bits of his past that he never shares with anyone. But at the same time, he knows he can't have the kind of life that Renee would want. He works so hard to protect Renee, and figure out who is after the two of them before it's too late.

And I really loved that this one includes the whole Saint Squad! They are some of my favorite characters ever, I love that you get to see a little bit of how a lot of them are feeling about being targeted yet again.

I loved how the action in this one starts right away. You have no idea just who is shooting at everyone or just why they are. It took literally the whole book to figure out who the killer was, and there's no way I would have been able to guess from the beginning who it was.

This is such a great book! Make sure to get your own copy!

(Genre:Fiction/LDS/action/mystery/romance) 3.5 stars. This is the second installment of Abramson's Guardian series. I feel like it has been so long since I read the first book in this series, that I had a hard time remembering what happened previously or who these people even were, but Abramson did a nice job bringing me back up to speed. And while there are definite character overlaps with her first Guardian book, the real key character overlap was with her Saint Squad series. I felt like some previous experiences with them was more necessary than with the Guardians themselves. In the end, it was fun to reconnect with many familiar characters and I breezed through the book quickly. And while the adventure definitely wraps up, the door is wide open for another sequel.

Plot summary (which may contain spoilers for this book and definitely contains spoilers from book 1): The attacks against the highly secret/classified Guardian group continues and in an effort to discover who is behind it all, Charlotte (or Hannah as she is now known) recruits CIA agent Renae to help out. But their leak hasn't been fixed and soon Renae is running for her life with the help of Ghost. Ghost has also been trying to recruit some help, and he reaches out to the Saint Squad for assistance. He knows that they have to find out who is behind the attacks as well as secure their secret funding from congress. The squad's connection to Senator Whitmore will be a key component to their strategy as they search for the power(s) seeking to end the Guardians once and for all.

Once again, my husband and I quite enjoyed this book in the Guardian series. The intrigue and mystery really kept our attention as we read. I feel like since Traci worked in CIA herself, she’s able to cover a lot of holes others might not even be aware of. Obviously I don’t know anything about government intel and intrigue or the processes that are followed with some of the things that happen in these books, but I think Traci covers everything quite well.

I love Renee and her willingness to do the hard things she’s expected to do. The unexpectedness that comes with her sudden job offer would be really tough. She has a lot of problems she has to deal with and I think she does really well with everything. I liked that she eventually learned how to use her operative CIA training to assist Kade in the work he had to do.

Kade (Ghost) is such a surly companion. My husband and I laughed quite often at his insistence to stay apart from everyone, even Renee. He definitely learned a lot throughout the book and it was interesting to watch him open his shell to Renee. He may still have more to learn but watching him grow some was fun.
Also, the SEALS and their wives were pretty awesome. I hope we see more of them in the future!

Once again, there is a definite romance thread weaving through the story, maybe even more than the first book. But the mystery and suspense was still strong.

Note: steamy kissing, still very clean, nothing more than that. Intrigue, shooting, some blood.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and after looking over her previous books, this one seems to bring the Saint Squad together with the guardians that were in Charlotte's story, and bring them into a plot that requires all their skill sets! It took me a bit to understand who all the characters were and if you had read previous books then you would know all them right at the beginning. You can just tell that each couple has a great story and now I want to read those books!

Renee, a CIA operative, was asked to assist the guardians by Charlotte; while one of the guardians, called Ghost, asked the Saint Squad for their assistance. Ghost, Kade, was not happy that Renee was brought in and even more unhappy when they were attacked at their first meeting and he was tasked to keep her safe.

There were lots of twists and turns, and you didn't know who was responsible or who you could trust! During their time on the run, Kade and Renee come to rely on each other and enjoy spending time together. Unfortunately, Kade doesn't believe that he can ever have a relationship due to his being a guardian.

There is a HEA but lots of drama to get there!!

Traci Hunter Abramson's books have been a bit hit-and-miss for me, but I was intrigued by the book description for Safe House, so I thought I'd give it a try. And, I'm glad I did. It was an enjoyable read, with a good amount of action and a clean romance.

I liked the mix of the Guardians and the Saint Squad. Other than the names (calling the members Ghost or the Saint Squad 😬) I really liked the interaction between the groups.

The book mentioned a burn phone several times, and that threw me. I've only heard it referred to as a burner phone.

At least one big thing was left undone, I assume to leave this open to a sequel. But the most pressing things were resolved. I liked the romance aspect, and even though the strong feelings came on quickly, it was written in a way that felt realistic.

This was a fast, clean and enjoyable read, and I’d read more about the Guardians.

My mother is the one who got my into mystery novels at a young age and I nabbed this book mostly because it's an author that I know she loves. We have similar tastes and she has told me before that she's read multiple book by Abramson in a day before. Now I see why. This book is non-stop action from the beginning. While this may be my first in the series and by the author, it won't be the last. Another perk is since the author is LDS (aka Mormon) the book is quite clean. There are shoot out and stand off scenes but no gore really involved in them and no language or sex, even though there is definitely a romance story in the center. I quite enjoyed it and read it pretty quickly even though I was reading multiple books at the time. Definitely hats to put down though.

I would like to thank the publisher, author, and Netgalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I picked this up to read from my library knowing I've loved everything I've seen by Traci Hunter Abramson. I didn't know what links it had to previous books or anything haha. I loved that I got to see the Saint Squad again, and that the guardians were just as fascinating, if not more so, than the squad. Clean romantic suspense with so many thrills and some very tense moments.
Kade and Renee have some great moments even as they are life threatening. I love Kade's truck and seeing Senator Whitman again. I lose track of what order to read things in and while that might lead to some spoilers, it doesn't mess up my enjoyment in reading any of these books.
I love her titles, too, how the story can be summer up in few words and relate to so many things in the book.
I love how her expertise and imagination work seamlessly on the pages and thoroughly immerse me in a world that is both familiar and beyond anything I've imagined. Definitely recommend.

While Goodreads and Amazon don’t list this as second in a series, this book follows Failsafe as a follow up on the guardians. So I would either call this series “Safe” or “The Guardians.” Additionally, the Saint Squad appears in this series and, surely the next. Given the way Safe House ended (although not necessarily a cliff hanger but a door left open to a new book), I would say there will no doubt be another book where it takes both the guardians and Saint Squad to protect the Whitmores when Jim runs for president.

I really enjoyed this story. In my opinion, Traci Hunter Abramson writes the quintessential romantic suspense. This had so many elements that I like. While this didn’t leave me with that wow feeling or end-of-book euphoria (despite a good ending) and therefore doesn’t rate a 5, it was a good, solid 4.

This was a great, action packed, fast-paced drama! I really liked it!! This story is about two secret organizations; the Guardians and the Saint Squad as they work together to keep themselves alive and to find out who is killing off the Guardians.

I really liked all the main characters like Renee, Heather, and Kade. I liked how they all worked together as a big team and communicated well together, which you have to be able to do in their profession.

This story was very exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Highly recommend! I hope this author will write more books involving these characters.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this one...and was so pleasantly surprised to find many of our Saint Squad friends in this novel. Another great romance blooms in this one! While Abramson's books often follow a similar pattern, the characters are all unique and interesting which keeps the stories fresh.

I have to admit the one thing I thought I would love (many, many characters from other books) ended up being the one thing I didn't love about this one...simply too many of them appeared briefly and a few sections felt unnecessary. Don't get me wrong...I loved to have the overlap with characters, but there may have been a few too many.

I continue to love Abramson's stories and hope there are many, many more!

The beginning of this book was confusing for me. It hadn't been that long since I finished the first book but I kept getting mixed up who was who (audio books make it harder in that way). Eventually I got it figured out and enjoyed the rest of the book. There were a few parts I wish were wrapped up more. I guess we will see if any get resolved in the 3rd book. It was interesting to have it merge with the saint squad characters. It's been a really long time since I listened to that series but I sort of remembered the characters. I would love to have seen the inside of his trailer, I can't picture a regular semi size trailer fitting as much as it described but it would be cool to see.

I thought it was really fun to bring in the Saint Squad!

Mild Spoilers****

However it was hard to place when this book took place in the saint squads timeline.
In this book Taylor is pregnant and is beginning to show but Senator Whitmore is only just beginning to consider running for president where in the last Saint Squad book he is already running and Taylor had not told anyone she was pregnant and when she did her sister was too and they were due within weeks of each other.
Venessa is also pregnant but there is no mention of this in the latest Saint squad or of a child between her and Seth so that was a bit hard to work with. I understand the latest Saint squad came out well after this but timelines still should have been considered a bit better.
