I learned a lot about the crusades that I did not know before. I always thought they were a short term battle and I was really educated on this and the people that drove them. The author should do a better job of editing the books (I found errors in the last book too) as there are many grammatical errors throughout the book. The most glaring in this book is on page 167 in the third paragraph where he wrote: Referring to Alexius, "As a result, he visited the Crusader camp and offered to hire them as is personal body guard until March 2014, when he reckoned that the weather would permit the expedition to move on to Egypt. That is 811 years from the time he wa crowned Emperor in 1203.
