It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
Three neat, short stories about two brothers, Jimmy and Jack, and a friend of Jack's, Trey. Each story would have been much better expanded abit. I would rate this as S for Sensuous, definitely not erotic. Quick and fun romantic read with minimal fuss! Thanks Auntee!
Three really quick (50--75 pages) hot reads about Special Ops soldiers and the women they fall in love with. I really enjoyed them (especially the third story) except I wish they could have been longer! It's hard to really flesh out a story and develop the characters in only 75 pages but the author does a pretty good job--I could only imagine how much better they would be with another 100 pages! Of well, I'm still looking forward to reading the follow-up book about the rest of the special ops men from Special Task Force Zeta, called "Trilogy No. 107: True Blue".
Romance genre: military Series: Red Hot & Blue Length: 280 pages
Plot: 3 separate stories - Trey is on a Marine task force, and he needs to go undercover. Because of her resemblance to someone else, the local bartender, Carly, is asked to participate in the mission (weak plot point, imo). Trey likes her, but the problem is that his best friend, Jack, likes her even more, and Trey will have to pretend to be married and intimate on the mission. Will Jack ever forgive him? After having his heart broken, Jack ends up back at his family farm for a furlough. While there, he meets the new farmhand, Nicki, who is obviously running from something. He wants to investigate her...or kiss her. Jack's brother Jimmy, whom Trey helped rescue in the first story, is at their farm recuperating and thinking about the girl he met right before his disastrous mission. He soon meets her again but realizes she might be off limits as the governor's daughter.
Commentary: I liked how all three stories were connected by both the people and the mission involved. I did wonder how often civilians are pulled into top-secret special forces missions. I also wondered how often soldiers on special task forces are asked to act as secret agents, complete with dressing up and conducting full-scale undercover operations. I could be wrong but that seemed weird. Maybe I just don't know enough. These were fun stories though. Even if Jack was way too familiar with Carly after she rejected him for Trey.
Red Blooded is an anthology with three stories about three team members of Task Force Zeta. Trey is Jack's best friend and Jack and Jimmy are brothers from the south just full of southern charm.
The danger of their missions moves from intense to very funny in the second one with some really stupid mob thugs at the Gordon Ranch. All three stories are full of hot romance and lots of fun with strong and passionate women ready to match the passion of the men they want. I love the mix of intense danger and action, sweet and passionate considerate men and funny situations in all three stories.
In “Red Blooded”, Cat Johnson brings us three stories about brave and handsome Marines who meet independent and beautiful women who will change their lives forever. Trey, Jack and Jimmy are best friends as well as members of a Marine task force. Jack and Jimmy are brothers who grew up on their families horse farm.
Trey embarks on a secret mission to free Jimmy who had been kidnapped. He has to pose as a married businessman and enlists Carly, the bartender at their favorite hangout, to be his fake wife. She can’t say no to his commander or to Trey, who had captured her eye a long time ago. Will Trey be able to keep Carly safe during their undercover operation and rescue Jimmy at the same time?
Jack returns home to see his family while he is on leave and meets a mysterious young woman who is helping out with the horses. She is beautiful, tight-lipped and he knows she is lying about who she really is. What is Nicki running from and can Jack protect her from whoever is after her?
Before Jimmy was captured, he had met a beautiful redhead named Lia. He never saw her again but he thought of her all of the time, especially while he was recuperating from his injuries. The only thing that kept him going while he was a prisoner were the memories of their one night together. What happens when Jimmy sees Lia again? Will the passion they once shared still be there after all this time?
Three novellas in one. This was a great summer pickup, Red Blooded: Trey, Jack, Jimmy (Red Hot & Blue #1-3 a great 4th of July read. Quick, easy, and laugh out loud humor. SYNOPSIS FROM: https://catjohnson.net/book/red-blooded/
Meet the red hot and true blue men of Task Force Zeta…
TREY ~ The last thing special operative Trey Williams wants is a girlfriend. Problem is, the woman who’s been recruited to pose as his wife on a special assignment is proving to be exactly the kind of distraction he can’t afford.
JACK ~ The only thing worse than Jack Gordon having to watch the girl he’s crushed on for years fall for his best friend is having to cool his heels while on a forced furlough at his family farm. But things get more interesting when he meets the sexy and secretive new farm hand.
JIMMY ~ No amount of training prepared undercover operative Jimmy Gordon to handle Amelia Monroe-Carrington, the governor’s hot, redheaded daughter. She thought she was seducing a waiter . . . and he let her.
Trey: Trey and Carly are on a mission to rescue a team member. Along the way their feelings for each other quickly become apparent and won’t be ignored. I really liked this short story. It felt complete and was a great start for this series. I really want to know more about the rest of the team now.
Jack: Jack finally got his HEA! I really enjoyed this one and hope we get his younger brother, Jared's story too. I really love all the characters in this series so far.
Jimmy: Jimmy is struggling to heal and overcome his time as a POW. Fate leads Lia, the one he can't stop thinking of, back into his life. These two were cute together. I do think the story could have used a little more development after they reconnected. They went from reconnect to I love you the next day which was just a little too fast. Overall I still enjoyed this story. ____________________________ Romanceopoly - Military Mews
3 short stories about 3 special ops soldiers and the ladies who steal there hearts.
Trey and Carly's story was my favorite. Though a short story, it packed a punch with the covert assignment that dragged Carly, a civilian, into a potentially dangerous situation. I wanted more background information about Carly, but I think it was nicely written for being such a short story.
Jack and Nikki's story was like a bad mafia movie, complete with bumbling henchmen. I wanted there to be more development for this story because truly, the showdown would not have ended like it did. Still not a bad quick read though.
Jimmy and Amelia's story was okay. Everything was easily fixed and given a stamp of approval...too easy. It was still an okay read with some tension.
Overall, I enjoyed the 3 stories. I was able to read this book in less than a day. If you want a quick read and you enjoy reading about men with special forces backgrounds, this may be the book for you.
This box set covers 3 brothers who are military through and through! The thing is that they just don't know how to keep their hands where they belong! Thing is that the woman does not mind in the least! In fact they encourage it. What makes Cat's books sooo good? The way she writes about our men and women who keep our country safe! I just got the whole series not just the first 3 books but all of the series. Hmm, am I crazy? Just a little because I am part of a military family! I have not ever served but have had military family members! Thanks Cat!
Trey and Carly is kind of a stealing your best friends girl only she didn't feel the same about you best friend. Jack and Nicki is one that she is working for the family farm and is hiding something but Jack is home on forced leave and is going to find out what she is hiding to protect his family. Jimmy and Lia is a second chance but they need to learn the truth as to who the other really is.
There are times you will laugh out loud. It is very well written and the stories are short so you can read them all in a little more than a day.
Of the three stories in this collection, the first is the best. However, each features a fast-paced love at first sight scenario resolved with lightning speed. Editing of these stories is superb. (As an editor myself, I notice such things.) Overall, this is a nice read with likable characters. I'd like to see Matt, the tech wizard, meet his one true love.
This book has 3 stories in one. Treys having to do an op with someone as his wife, just what he doesn't need, a distraction. Jack and Nicki's story, and then Jimmy and Amelia's story. If you like special ops stories and hot steamy stories, this is one for you. I have read numerous books by Cat Johnson and never have I been disappointed and I wasn't this time. When you go to Jimmy's story you might get a little of set by having to set up the story don't worry it will be ok.
Two great stories involving both Jack and James Gordon. Jack is up first when he finally meets the girl of his dreams. What he didn't want was the two gumba's from the New York Mob! The second story involves Jack's older brother, Jimmy. Jimmy had been undercover and was captured along with being tortured. After his team found him, it had been 6 months since his night with Lia. A beautiful redhead he met the night before he left to go undercover.
Trey, I loved it! Good brotherhood bonds, lots of chemistry, and lot thereof, and the right amount of suspense to keep you turning the pages 😊
Jack, It was all serious and worrisome, and then bam – LOL’ing at the situation as devolved into a comedy sketch!!!
Jimmy, I wasn’t really enamored by Lia, and part of it seemed she was using Jimmy to get back at her father, but she won me in the end with her love for him<3
Cat Johnson has written a trilogy of 3 Marines in Special OPS and the 3 women they fall in love with. I loved the story of Trey and how he struggles with an attraction to a woman his friend had shown an interest in. Jack and Jimmy are blood brothers as well as brothers in arms and their stories are equally dynamic. Really good short stories of brotherhood, love, loyalty and steamy sex.
I enjoyed the main characters in all three of these short romances but wish they were longer and more detail oriented. I prefer a more realistic romance rather than these where the couple falls in love within days or weeks and lives HAE but perhaps that is what fans of this author look for.
Good value for money about three alpha males and their prospective partners. Enjoyed all three but think the second was my favourite. Not just because jack was charming and all but because some of the humour and stupidity if characters had me laughing out loud. Good reads.
Red Blooded is a collection of 3 books by Cat Johnson. Ms. Johnson has delivered a trio of well-written books. The stories are all packed with drama, humor, steamy sex, action and suspense. I loved all 3 of these books and can't wait to get my hands on my next book by Cat Johnson. While these 3 books are connected, they're also standalones, so there's no cliff-hangers involved.
Three Special Task Force Zeta teammates find love. Trey, falls for the woman who acts as his wife on an undercover assignment. Jack visits his family home and falls for a woman whose life is in danger because of the mafia. Jimmy falls for a woman he ghosted on but reconnects with six months later. She just happen's to be a governor's daughter.
When you are burnt out at work and need some escapist reading? Need something with low angst and low level suspense? Cat Johnson's Red Hot and Blue series requires no brain power - easy reads about Black Ops military men with a heavy dose of romance. Check reality at the door and escape with these very nice (and of course beautiful) people.
There are 3 stories in this set. Each there own but intertwined. All fast paced, hot, sexy reads with plenty of action. They will keep you reading and looking forward to reading more about these guys.
The three part story has just enough violence, and a mix of drug dealings, political schemes, love and passionate scenes to satisfy the most demanding reader. Thumbs up.
I wouldn’t call them love stories more like cute short lust stories. The best part I feel was the darlin’ every now and then being said. A decent read if you like your stories quick.
I am loving Cat Johnson! I have only recently found her as an author and I am so glad I did. She is an amazing writer. These three short stories are so good. Just a bit of excitement and some heat makes the perfect story. Plus men in uniform?! Yes please!
Love the plots in all three books as well as the love interests. Some humour, and light sex scenes.. Not to much action on the front line though, which was what i expected. But in all, all three parts worked well together as one novel.
As always a great read by Cat Johnson. Amazing characters with great storylines. Could not put it down. Wanted more. Love Trey, Jack and Jimmy. Can't wait for the next instalment of Red Hot & Blue.
