ONE PICTURE. TWO STORIES. MANY SUSPECTS.

Deena Sharpe has her hands full with her high school journalism classes. But when a woman dies at a school football game, suddenly everyone is interested in her student’s photographs. Did he catch the crime on film or will this death be another unsolved mystery?

As Deena helps the police investigate this suspicious event, she uncovers some secrets of romance and lies. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but there’s only one word she cares about: Guilty!

Sharpe Image is the prequel to the Cozy Suburbs Mystery Series by Lisa B. Thomas. Read about Deena before she retired and before her life took a sharp turn. This short, cozy mystery will keep you guessing until the very end!

Sharpe Image by Lisa B. Thomas is a relatively brief mystery, cozy, introductory novella for the Maycroft Mystery series. Deena Sharpe is a high school journalism teacher who is also the amateur sleuth of the story. The student photographer for the school newspaper may have captured on film the death of a woman at the high school football game. As a member of the faculty, she must play liaison between the student and the police, but things get a lot more complicated when an illicit romance and secret lies begin to reveal themselves to augment the drama. This is a quick, fast-paced, fun read meant to entice mystery-lovers to join the Cozy Suburbs series. Fun story; good mystery.

Sharpe Image is a prequel to the Maycroft Mystery series. It didn't give us a lot of background or character building due to the "shortness" of the book but it works well to introduce the characters.

It is a well told little mystery that didn't give away the killer until the end.

I am looking forward to reading more from this series.

A very good short prequel to the Maycroft series. I'd already read the first one before I found this, and was happy to see where it all started. Have the second one (and more) all ready for the Kindle.

I stumbled across the Cozy Suburb Mysteries series in my recommended for you list. I read the prequel first and found it written well and it was easy to establish the characters and relationships which Mrs. Sharpe. Definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Deena Sharpe is a high school journalism teacher. She has been teaching for 30 years. She loves her work, but at times the administration's rules get to her. She is a trustworthy person and all her students know that.

One of the parents has died after falling off the top of the bleachers at a junior varsity football game. Gossip around the school says it was no accident but deliberate murder.

Deena is drawn into the investigation by a detective who wants to see if any of the pictures taken by the high school photographer might have any clues.

This is a very quick read and an introduction to a series of books by Ms Thomas.

The character development is well done even though this is a short read. The plot is not very complicated but it held my interest.

If you are seeking a mystery which is a fast read as well as an interesting introduction to a good series, this is a book you will enjoy.

This is the prequel for this series and the first time reading this author. The main character is a teacher Deena. A detective shows up at school to ask about pictures one of her students took at a game where a woman fell over a railing to her death. The student who took pictures said he didn't see that or get any pictures but one of his pictures did show someone else taking pictures in the area of the accident. She figures that out almost too late because the killer came looking for her. I loved this story and look forward to reading about more of her adventures.

I really loved how Thomas portrayed Deena Sharpe as a dedicated high school journalism teacher. Some other books I've read featuring teachers don't seem to indicate any understanding of the reality of actual classroom experience. Deena talks and acts like teachers I've worked with over the years. She's one of the ones you pray your kids get assigned to. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

An intriguing case

The case development was really good. For a novella: excellent even. Character development: maybe not quite as good. But I’m thinking that will be remedied in books 1 and further, since this is only the prequel. The story started very slap-bam in the middle of things. No background. Just action. Some introduction would have been better, I think. But I quickly got into it. It helped a lot that there was some humor in there. And that the case was intriguing!

A decent whodunit with aspects of a thriller. The main character, Deena Sharpe, regularly seems lacking of common sense. But, as expected, she solves the case.

Action-packed. Entertaining. Happily Ever After. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable.

I received a copy of this book as a gift.  This is my honest review.

Very good read

I have read all of the Deena Sharp books and it was interesting to read how she stopped teaching to become a reporter. This was well written and had a few moments of terror. Definitely a 5 star read

I had already read books 1-6 in this series and enjoyed them. This was a short read but I really enjoyed a little insight to the characters. This cozy series is a great find. The stories are clean and well written. It is hard to put the books down once you start one though.

This is my first foray into a Cozy Mystery. It was actually a lot better than I had anticipated it would be. Really no romance to speak of, although when the author described the Vice Principal I thought I was going to be hitting the romance portion and steeled myself for it. But it never came.

Overall it kinda made me think of a “Murder She Wrote” mystery. However I thought it was weird how Deena reacted to the VP when he visited her in the dark room. I thought it was a bit of a over reaction.

Overall, I gave it a 4/5 but unfortunately the book has DRM so it drops to a 3/5.
