Cold Blooded

Rate this book
Detective Gwen Jamison has the highest closure rate in her division, but when a string of armed robberies turn deadly she must race against the clock to find the sole witness that can end the carnage. Standing in Gwen's way is a cold-blooded killer who she fears has murdered before.

Lieutenant Ian McKean knew he would have his hands full when he took over leadership of the detectives unit. He wasn't prepared for the headstrong Detective Jamison, though, who quickly becomes a thorn in his side.

If they can stop butting heads long enough they might realize they are more alike than either imagined.

Gwen is an interesting character; I like her. The same goes for Ian with the added bonus that I like his faith, too. Their relationship was developed pleasingly, albeit rapidly; their natures/ personalities lending themselves to that sort of risk taking after quickly and accurately reading the other person. I liked the fact that Gwen's partner had been faithfully witnessing to her for years and the fact that Ian easily shared his faith and witnessed to her, too, almost from the beginning. I was impressed by the wisdom and spiritual maturity in the things Ian shared when witnessing to Gwen. Gwen's journey to a personal relationship with God was quite exciting. Besides having a whole lot of great characters in this book, a sweet romance and plenty of witty dialogues, it is a fast paced police drama with unfolding clues to keep armchair detectives like me happily engaged in the plot.

I loved the characters, not only the protagonists but also the supporting cast. I appreciated Ian's faith and Gwen's development of faith after Ian and her partner faithfully witnessed to her over time. I liked the way the team worked together to bring a cold-blooded killer to justice. All in all, a great read.

Gwen is driven to be the best she can; chasing a killer, who she strongly believe is guilty of it before. She is full of life, and rushes into trouble without thinking. A new supervisor and sparks fly, Gwen and Ian are an interesting match. Showing her the path she has taken is what God wanted for her, and hopeful to lead her back to that faith again.
Great story, plot and characters, clean, and full of action, that readers will love. The audio by Lenore Woolworth.is good, clear speaking, and good with the different voices, bringing this story to life

Loved this one!

I own almost everything written by Anne Patrick & have truly enjoyed reading every single story! She’s got to be my favorite author! This book is one I will read again & that’s not something I do. I couldn’t tear myself away from it. I read the full book in less than 12 hours. Awesome! Characters are real with real life issues. My emotions were up & down throughout the story, crying & laughing along with/for Gwen. Highly recommended!

A quick, easy, satisfying read. Detective Gwen Jamison is trying to find the suspect of a series of armed robbery and murder. She has a new Lieutenant, Ian, to answer to. As they grow closer together during the chase, their relationship starts to evolve. Through out the story you can see how the character's faith influences their every day actions and interactions with one another. As Gwen navigates this case and her personal life she starts to feel God's influences more and more.

Cold Blooded by Anne Patrick pulled me in from the very beginning. I love how the author has developed the characters, writes great suspense and clean romance, and incorporated faith into the story. The relationship of Gwen and Ian was great. Leonor A Woodworth was wonderful performing the book. She adds the right emotions to the characters, and her voice is fantastic.

I've been in a reading slump for a few months... I've often found myself rereading books I've already read this year so I challenged myself to get back into reading...

This book did not disappoint.... What a refreshing way to get out of the slump... This story was so good... The author did an amazing job bringing in faith... I was genuinely hooked!

Detective Gwen Jamison is one determined lady! She is great at solving crimes and closing cases but there is one case she has yet to solve because her captain forced her to back off. Lately there has been a string of liquor store robberies which has left one woman dead and one witness who is on the run. She feels that her unsolved case and the robberies are linked but can she convince the new boss to get behind her in that assessment. Ian McKean lost his wife a few years ago and wants to make a new start. He takes the job as Lieutenant in Shorewick, Arizona as head of the detectives. He knew he’d have his hands full with Gwen, as the previous lieutenant had briefed him about her, but he was unprepared for the attraction for her. Gwen is determined to solve the robberies and get a conviction no matter what. Ian is in the difficult position of wanting to support Gwen but also be the boss. With their tenuous relationship, can they work toward getting that conviction and perhaps explore that growing attraction.

Another well written story by Anne Patrick. It will grab you from the beginning and keep you turning pages until the end. It was really a nice balance of danger, suspense and romance. Gwen was someone I wasn’t sure I was going to like but I really grew to like and understand her. Ian was a good guy who had faced some difficulties in his life. The story line was well done and you’ll find yourself cheering on our lead pair in solving the robberies. The faith element was well done and realistic. Ian was a man of faith and was an a good influence in Gwen’s life because she had pretty much lost her faith. That’s important to remember in our own lives; be a good influence on others lives. If you enjoy a good story that’s hard to put down then you will love this one…unless you’re “Cold Blooded”!

Some favorite quotes:

“God answers all prayers, Gwen. Maybe not in our timing or the way we want them answered, but according to his will”

“I know it may have seemed that way, but everything in our past happened for a reason. We may never know why or understand it but there was a purpose. And God always places people in our path who are there to guide and help us.”

“I don’t have all the answers, Gwen. No one does. But I know, without a doubt, that God loves you and will always be there for you during both the good and bad times”
