Being on the surface is dangerous. But hiding underground is no solution.
After starting the little rebellion and beind modified, Fin and her friends continue their journey to freedom. They try to get on the surface, but the way is blocked, other options nowhere in sight, and with betrayal in their ranks, doubts weaken their resolution and belief in victory. However, Fin is not prepared to give up, and getting into an underground settlement full of people boosts her determination. Nevertheless, another attack reminds her of what they are fighting for, and now that Sky is taken, she has even more motivation to fight. But the enhanced modifications of the Aura operatives that they discover greatly endanger their desperate mission.
This YA dystopian series in brilliant in several ways. The world building is excellent, every single detail adding up to the complex whole we already know, every new information revealing the depth of this world. Political machinations and power hungry strategies are excellent, drawn into elaborate tactics to win the case and crush the opponent. Plot development is a natural, smooth process, adjusting to the world the characters live in, yet containing enough action and tension to keep the reader on edge. I also liked how the characters are maturing and developing their personalities, and I was thrilled to watch how their relationships evolve, especially with the hints of romance now present in the picture. The only reason why I gave this book a four-star rating is that I felt a little less connected, more detached from the story than in book one, and feeling the connection slip between my fingers is never a good sign for me. The book was intriguing and fast snd I enjoyed it very much, but being totally drawn into it would make the difference.

Can humanity survive what's next?

Total Score: 5/5

Summary:
Finn and the other dwellers managed to a way to the surface, but not without dire consequences. Many died for the chance of freedom and all those left are determined that their deaths will not be in vein. The struggle to free everyone form the control of the EHC, but it is difficult to know who they can trust.

The fight for freedom is one that many people can understand as they face seemingly insurmountable odds with only their own strength to keep them alive. They find that they are not alone, but the fight may be more difficult then they imagined. With the help of other survivors they may have a chance, but the cost could be high. The many unique characters bring the story to life as their struggles bring out the depth and strength of their personalities. This was a fast paced and complex story that kept me waiting to see what would happen next and it isn’t over yet!

Another cliffhanger ending

This series is packed full of action and keeps a fast pace, so you never get bored. The premise and society created are incredibly intriguing, but I still find myself wanting more character development. Some of the characters I was most interested in died before I even felt like I could really get to know them. With that said, I am still totally engrossed in the story and constantly excited for what is going to happen next. The ending was a cliffhanger, which drives me crazy, but I am really looking forward to the next book!

This has to be one of the best series to come out in a long time. The second volume is even better than the first, which I adored. The characters become even more developped and complex, the plot is very fast paced, there is never a lull in the action. Lots of suspense, this is a book I found impossible to put down. Roll on for book 3!

You will feel as if you’ve joined the resistance and are fighting alongside Fin. Well written with non-stop action. A great story line that moves quickly and lets the reader connect with the characters. Thank you for a clean and adventurous story.

I tired of reading this book because it was all about war and fighting. I knew it was written by a man.

Excellent

The only complaint I have is the inconsistency of the spelling of Jase. Sometimes it's Jace, and sometimes it's Jase. Please pick a spelling and stick with it.
