Today We Die

Rate this book
The horrors of World War 2 are widely known. The horrors that have remained unknown--until now--are far worse. In the year 2093, an ancient biological weapon is accidentally unearthed from the sands of the Sahara Desert. Experts Shift Bader and Anta Chalthoum are called to investigate, but even they cannot fathom the breadth of what has been uncovered. The stakes quickly rise as the peril intensifies. Shift and Anta must set aside their budding feelings for each other as they face a catastrophe the likes of which the world has never known; the effects of which threaten to reach beyond the borders of our own world.

Loved it even tho the concept terrifies me.

So I don't read many "end of the world" type stories, but I'm excited to read how this one plays out over the next book. Or books? Biological warfare is a topic that freaks normal people out. I'm including myself in the "normal" category just this once. I like how the author creatively combines the historic past with a fictional (at least I hope it stays fictional) future, in a way that feels uncomfortably realistic. Who's to say this kind of stuff doesn't exist out there somewhere? Would you or I survive? What would become of our world? All these questions and more crossed my mind as I read along. A good book will make you do that--ask questions. The main character has a quirky sense of humor which lightens up the subject matter. Parts of the story felt slow at times, and I struggled to keep track of who's who during the latter half of the book, but I never felt lost, or lost interest. Overall, author has a nice writing style, and pristine grammar (yep, I'm a grammar nerd). Looking forward to finding out how the last vestiges of society on earth fare. Not bad for a first write, Mr. Wilde. Oh, and by the way, the Author Notes were hilarious--the "dude" is a crack up....

I actually read this several months ago and I loved it! I am terrible at writing reviews but I will give it a go.
I loved the characters and their personalities. The story was exciting and I found myself not wanting to put the book down. Such a great read and so different than the stories I usually read. I would definitely recommend reading this series!

Interesting

This story/book can, or could, have been used to describe the current state of the world. A vial was discovered containing an unknown substance which got out or loose and contaminated the whole world resulting in the almost complete annihilation of the human population. Although, this is the basis for the story; this is not what it's about. It's about how the survivors deal with the death, research , and eventual creation of a vaccine. This is a story that will make you think. The characters were well written, action/situations were thought out and plot twists were interesting.

Excellent read

The book was so entertaining ! The story had a great storyline and a great flow. The characters were well developed and you get really into the story thanks to them. The book was full of great moments and it was super easy to follow without getting lost in the details. I can't wait to get on the next book "tomorrow we rise"

Good book. Story line was compelling. Premises although based on fiction create a believable out come. Perfect storm for a bad news for mankind.
