A Thin Crust of Murder

Rate this book
Pizzeria owner Eleanora Pacelli’s plate is full, as she prepares to open her second restaurant. The busy go-getter is also consumed with thoughts of an upcoming engagement announcement, and a best friend who is behaving more than a bit oddly. Imagine her dismay when, on top of it all, she discovers that a new restaurant is opening soon, just a couple of blocks away!
Determined to start out on the right foot with the owner of Hot Diggity Dog, the new hot dog shop in town, Ellie decides to stop by with a gift and introduce herself. Her well-intentioned errand goes horribly awry, however, when she inadvertently discovers a body in the new restaurant.
Not knowing whom to trust, Ellie and the sheriff discreetly try to puzzle out what happened, and who the killer could be. Kittiport once again has a murderer roaming the streets…who will be the next victim if the duo doesn’t solve the mystery in time?

There is so much happening in this book that I don't know how the author kept it straight. It went from happy to sad to happy to sad and to making me wonder what might be coming up in the next book. There are several nice surprises to be found that you will want to know about! A new restaurant, Hot Diggity Dog, is opening up in town, but before the doors can open for business, a body is found in the freezer. This is one book where I never guessed who the murderer was. Kudos to Patti Benning!

Competition can be deadly

A new restaurant is opening in town. Will Ellie have as many issues with this one as she did the last restaurant and will things become as deadly?

I did enjoy reading this book. The only issue that I'm having is that when the series first started, I assumed Ellie was in her late thirties and to be honest I think it was mentioned that she was in her late thirties and it seems that even though we only jumped a year now these women are over 40. It's just very confusing to me and yet this plot of Ellie's best friend expecting reminds me of the cupcakes in Paradise book. I think that's the new series by summer Prescott. I just wish it would have been a change to maybe Ellie found out she was expecting. However this is kind of a spoiler which I hate it just seems like it was predictable and that's why she claimed she wasn't going to the grand opening. I just wanted a little bit more and I just wanted it to be something different and I really want to see just main characters these women who are not police officers but they keep stumbling into murder investigations I just want to see them get pregnant. It can happen and people actually want to read it because if military women, police officers, FBI agents, Secret Service agents, and private security I mean if these women can all have a baby and still do their job I don't see why we can't see this in a cozy mystery.

Ellie and Russell are planning to tell their families the good news that they are engaged. They are both excited and looking forward to getting married. Ellie is also consumed with the long distance remodel of her new pizzeria in Florida. She is also curious about the new restaurant opening across the street, and hoping there will not be animosity with owners like she experienced with the former establishment. In order to start out on the right foot with the new owner, Ellie puts together a welcome basket and introduces herself. The visit quickly goes south when Ellie happens upon a dead body inside. Ellie works to help her fiance Russell, the local sheriff, piece together what occurred in the restaurant and hopefully find the killer.

I enjoyed the latest addition to the Papa Pacelli’s Pizzeria series. I’m so glad Elle and Russell are engaged. Shannon’s news is happy/sad. I wasn’t expecting that at all. If you have not read this series this book does stand alone, however you would love to read this from the beginning. The characters are well-developed and the action moves at a good pace. I recommend this book, this entire series (and all of Patti Benning’s books).

the series continues with another great story

Ellie is settling back in after the attack by the veterinarian on her grandmother and Bunnies leg being broken. The new hot dog restaurant is getting ready to open in town and she wants to welcome the new owner and hopefully have a friendly relationship. When she goes over to meet the owner she discovers a dead body in the freezer. The action picks up from there with lots of twists and turns and a surprise ending.

Beware of new people in your town.

15 stars!!!!!!
Ellie was trying to be nice to new people in town and there was an incident.
When new people are pushy take a big step back from them. Let other people know what is going on, don't try to do it by yourself.
Ellie got in the middle, and all she wanted was celebrate her good news.
You have to read to find out.
You will love it.
