I'm happy that this type of work has been done. However, once again I feel disappointed because most cataloging texts end up being mostly theory and not practical advice or guidance. I know too many working catalogers that don't know some of the nuances (e.g., use of $a and $z in the 020) for MARC cataloging and others that don't keep up with changes and continue to catalog with obsolete fields, etc. I disagreed with the author's interpretation of cataloging rules a few times, but as I said, it's good to see someone attempt this. The explanations of connections between MARC, AACR2, RDA, Bibframe, metadata may be helpful to some new and older librarians, but the how-to differences are what I like to see.
