A solid, if very basic intro to Marx. As with all biographies/introductions from before 1991, this one is important also as a historical document. Kettle manages to stay quite faithful to Marx until the very end, where a more Leninist side starts to emerge. He is conspicuously quiet about the atrocities of the Stalin era, but the points about Marx's relevance are valid.

I found this book a nice, succinct read which did a good job of explaining a bit of Marx's life, history and what he stood for.
