When Solomon married his wife, Jan, he fully intended to stay faithful to her for the rest of his life. However, a series of encounters with an enchanting woman named Evelyn, who he meets on a business trip, shatters this prism and throws his world into turmoil. Now he wants to keep his lover and his wife, openly.
Beyond Deceit is a sensual, thought provoking, and emotionally gripping real-to-life tale of love entanglement, and the complexities of the human heart with a new and unique twist.
With all due respect, and remember I said all due respect...Nope!!! Major eye-roll at everyone in this book. LOL. You can definitely tell that this book, all though well written, was written by a man simply based on how the topic of polyamory was addressed. There wasn't any real depth to the characters which made this come off (to me!) as an essay more than a story. I just can't get down with any of the philosophy presented here. Again, the writing and flow weren't bad. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
I was debating on what I would rate this book throughout. The more I read, I was convinced Solomon was truly a character. His notion that Jan would accept his proposal is what kept me reading. I found the conversations with Solomon & his male buddies, & Jan with her female friends a well written discussion as they stated their opinions. While I knew it was coming, & I didnt agree, the choices made still surprised me. 3.5/4.0
The book pushed an agenda. The agenda was polyamory is within men and it is a lifestyle that allows men to be honest. I didn't like the characters. The story line was not believable. It could've been a great story. The writer tried too hard and the timelines and actions/reactions didn't make much sense.
For the most part I enjoyed this book. ! But..... give me a break, its written one woman to one man. I can't believe in today's world that people believe this way. I know it was only a story. But I don't think density had anything to do with it.
This is the story of my life. It made me see that we have been deprived of our culture. And we are blind to what we as a person need in our lives. I commend Solomon for earning his truth, and sticking to it. Great read.. Moeiel thank you.
The story started out like any two married couples in love but the trials and tribulations they experienced were profound. A beautiful ending with value lessons anyone can learn in relationships. I enjoyed this book very much!
I did not like this book. First the way it was written was just crazy. People do not speak like that at all. I also felt like the author was not believable in his character portrayals. It was just a book that felt like it was trying too hard
I picked this book because of the title. It started out really good and held my attention the entire way through. I've found myself in a triangle before so I definitely know of the complications. Great book!
This book was an interesting journey to follow. It opens your eyes to look at love in a new light. Although taboo as stated in the book. It’s definitely worth reading
I’m open for the topic but the story dragged through like a lecture in favor of the content. So much of it that is takes away from the story line and you forget it’s actual characters involved.
This story line is different than any I have ever read and I've read a lot. While I enjoyed this author's writing style, I found the ending to be incredulous and unrealistic in today's society. *SPOILER ALERT* Never heard of a woman who was already married to a man for several years, finds out he's cheating, and then agrees to share him with his mistress and they live happily ever after. The Black women I know don't care how they do it in Africa. I would not read a sequel to this book if there was one, but would read this author's work again.
