I love stories that are written about animals, I don't care what size, shape, or size. All the short stories in this book will either bring you to tears or tug at your heartstrings, as you or anybody who reads this book that loves animals can relate to so many of the short stories Dobie wrote about. The first story in the book was about Barney a beagle (I just lost beagle mix 2 years ago) and how this dog saved his owner's life as the owner went through losing his bookstore and a few years later terrible divorce. Even many years after Barney's passing the owner still, has a soft spot in his heart and tears in his eyes when he thinks of Barney how he was such a special dog for him, and what Barney taught him about finding love, your true love. Barney also taught his owner what companionship could mean and what true happiness felt like. I know that is how I felt with my beagle mix, Peco, he taught me what companionship, love and just being a good friend is all about, he also taught my son what a great dog can do for a child that has health problems that he will always love my son no matter how badly he felt about his scoliosis. All the stories in this book are so touching as what their pets have brought to their owners or the people who interacted with them as horse or dog trainers, healers, or fosters. Dobie has a wonderful gift to be able to communicate with an animal that is passed or living to be able to know what our pets are thinking and feeling I wish all of us could experience. I am glad there are people on this earth like Dobie that can help us mere mortal understand our pets to help us help them as they pass through our lives, sometimes too quickly.
