The true story of Oskar Schindler, the man who inspired 'Schindler's List'.
A harrowing look at his life, his career, and the heroic judgements he made to stand against tyranny and evil, at great personal risk. Responsible for saving some 15,000 Jews from the worst excesses of Nazi evil, Oskar Schindler will forever be remembered for his good deeds in the face of the world's worst depravity.
It was very informational. I know a lot more about what happened in the time of the Holocaust. It wouldn't be one of the books that I read daily, but it was still very helpful to just know as well.
How can these authors and publishers publish without first reading it...reads like a 6th grade English assignment from a student who just can't spell.....or write.
I LOVE the content, the information in this book, but the spelling & grammatical errors drove me crazy! I understand that the author uses British English & I use American English, but I don't believe there are many, if any, differences in actual grammar, punctuation, etc. Therefore I have decided that the problem HAS TO BE in the switch to e-book form, although I still don't understand how THAT even happens! In any case, I am available to proofread!!! ;-) I'm sorry to speak to this at all, but grammar, punctuation, tense, & spelling were drilled into my brain, so the mistakes in this publication jumped out at me! Now, I know I'm not perfect, & you may find mistakes in this review, but I am now almost 66 y/o & what I haven't simply forgotten from non-use over the 48 years since high school, strokes have taken even more so I now have expressive aphasia. That's why I make mistakes of my own, but I still see & hear when others make them. Weird, I know! Anyway, I agree totally with the author, this information needs to be remembered. I was a U.S. Army wife for several years & while there, I visited the Dachau Camp Memorial & Museum. Yeah, it really happened! I also agree about Mr. Schindler, that he was a very unlikely hero. In fact I could almost say he was a great hero, but not a very good man, but I don't know enough about him for that. I wish that she had listed references because I would like to dig some more! I enjoyed the movie, realizing it was a fictitious version of the story of course, but it was enough to let me know that Mr. Schindler lived, that he saved a lot of lives & received nothing but trouble for doing so! Now I want to read the book it was taken from as well! I think I'm glad I read this one first, though. I recommend it to any history fan, especially WWII history. If the e-book people would fix the many errors, I would recommend it as required reading in schools! Except in today's political uproar, it would offend some people & the Lord knows, we don't want to do that!
I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s take on Oskar Schindler and the film dedicated to his work. In my evaluation, I held back one star only because of the lack of editing; the writing is atrocious, and I know the author cannot be responsible for the apparent total lack of copy editing (this may be true only for the Kindle edition, and not the hard copy). Editing issues aside, if you are a fan of Schindler’s List, this brief read can only enhance your enjoyment of the film. Make it a priority.
Succinct supplement to the movie which I just rewatched after it came out nearly 20 years ago. A great reminder of what we could be - the very worst and the very best. Movie is excellent and moving too.
