I have just finished reading "Pippa's Island - The Beach Shack Cafe", and I think that it was a great book. It is about a girl named Philippa Hamilton. She lives with her mum, who loves to get things done, brother Harry, who can't get enough of sport, and little sister Bella, who is very loud and loves dinosaurs.
Pippa and her family are originally from London, but her mum decides to move the family to a tropical island called Kira cove. Her mum has bought a dirty old shack, and wants to clean it up and make it a cafe. Philippa is very upset and doesn't want to move away from her home. She has so many things that she will have to leave behind when they move. Such as friends, her pet fish, the house, a whole lot of things that she loves. When they arrive at Kira cove, they live with Pippa's Mimi and Papa in a caravan in the backyard, for a little while. They go to check out the boat-shed that Pippa's mum has bought, and it just looks old, dirty, and is falling apart. A couple of days later Pippa starts at her new school at Kira cove, and hates it. Until... she makes a couple of friends. Their names are Meg, Charlie, and Cici. The four of them become best friends and start hanging out every afternoon. They call themselves the Sassy Sisters. A girl at Pippa's school doesn't like her and starts to make fun of her. She makes up lies about Pippa. Her name is Olivia. Pippa just ignores her, but Olivia causes problems for Pippa throughout the story. Mum also has a problem of her own, in dealing with old Mrs Beecham. While they are renovating the old boat-shed, the abrupt neighbour comes over and is quite furious. She tells Mum how rude it is to be so noisy, and that it is disturbing the peace in Kira Cove. Mrs Beecham continues to make her point throughout the story, and threatens to stop all prospects of finishing the cafe.
My favourite part of the book is the process of renovating the boat-shed. I can just imagine what it looked like as I was reading. I would love to renovate a house myself when I'm older. I love the idea of re-doing an old place and making it look welcoming again.
If you like books about friendships, I definitely would recommend this book. I personally loved reading this book. I thought It was very interesting, very easy to read, with no complicated or "wordy" sentences. There was no swearing, which made it more pleasant to read.
A beautiful grown up girl with a bit of a temper. Beautiful beaches and friends and a Sassy sisters club. Be bold, Be brave and be full of happy spirit! I loved this book so so much!
