I'm shaking my head at this book. I had high hopes. I loved the idea of Charlie and Mitchell faking a relationship to please his grandmother. I love it when the faked relationship develops into a real one. The relationship was killed almost immediately by the arrival of Mitchell's girlfriend, Victoria. Mitchell is annoyed by her, and annoyed by her insistence that they are engaged, when he definitely hasn't proposed.

Poor timing is followed by poor communication, and game playing. Even though Mitchell's girlfriend is there, he keeps spending time with, and falling for Charlie. When Charlie's cheating ex-boyfriend enters the scene, instead of talking to Charlie, and breaking up with his own girlfriend, he proposes to Victoria. I don't see how that solved any of his problems, but it sure made for a frustrating plot. I wanted to figuratively smack Mitchell and Charlie repeatedly! Instead of talking to each other, they both got further involved with people they didn't like, but somehow thought they loved. Argh!

I also found it ironic that Charlie and her ex, Alex broke up when she caught him kissing someone else. Right after she took Alex back, she kissed Mitchell and never told Alex about it. It seemed like a big double standard to me. Don't date someone if you want to kiss someone else!

I loved the setting in Sitka, Alaska, and I loved the sweet old people in Charlie's home.

Content: Clean (some kissing)

Cute, Clean

This was an easy reading, clean romance. Cute story, nice diversion. My first book from this author and I've got another on my to-read list.

I read half of this and was enjoying it until Mr. Billionaire decided to go complete idiot. I'm all for a good twist in the story that makes things more difficult for the love interest but this book had about 6 twist all at the same time and just made it ridiculous.

This is my first exposure to this author who, I surmise, is now venturing into the adult clean romance genre after having been publish as a Middle Grade or Young Adult author under a different pen name. After finishing this book, I strongly encourage the transition. Although the author sometimes stretched my perception of reality, which I feel is critical to first rate fiction, the story was an enjoyable and captivating reading experience with characters that were well developed and believable. However, I have a pet peeve with an error many authors make and this author made repeatedly. It is with various versions of the expression, “fall to the ground.” By definition, the word ground means “the solid surface of the earth.” Thus, if the action take place in a building, it should read, “fall to the floor.” Anytime the surface is other than “mother earth,” the correct surface should be stated. All that said, I believe this author shows great promise and should be given four stars for this offering.

Ugh this book was so incredibly frustrating! So much of what went on did not make sense and characters continued to make poor choices over and over again.

Charlie is one determined young woman left with a huge responsibility filled with love but heartache too. At the same time, she is still dealing with the loss of her own grandma less than a year ago. Yet, she has left her the retirement home in Sitka, Alaska.

There are like six guests but two they have dementia that seems to be costing her the most pain Rose & Francis because they were her grandma’s best friends. Being that she was raised in this home after her parents passing it is very personal.

The thing is she is way over her head as far as keeping the books and whatnot. So, she has had to take on a waitressing job to try and make ends meet. On this day it’s not even working she spills water on a customer and gets fired along with her several times being late. When it’s said and done and she tells him off little does she know that they will meet again?

You see this sexy stranger is Rose’s long-lost grandson. You will. I give this: 5 stars.

Frustrating

I know it’s just me but these two were so annoying! The story was cute and had fun points but his jealous reaction to her boyfriend made me want to hurl an axe! Talk about over reacting. I had to put the book away for a few hours till I could force myself to finish it.

For me this book was frustrating but the title speaks for itself until the very very end. Reading it your just like come on! It was okay for me. Not really my favorite I've read, personally. It does pull that growl from you because she's trying to forget the billionaire.

Pleasant and sweet

Sweet characters nicely drawn, and fun to read about someplace out of the ordinary. Unrealistic, but aren't all romances? For example, would Mitchell really fall head over heels with a girl based only on the fact that she was kind and pretty and spunky? All great characteristics, but is that enough? After all, Mitchell went to Harvard and had a huge business. Did Charlie do anything with her life besides work as a waitress and run the retirement home (really more a boarding house)?

I am not that bothered by those things because this was a good story. I enjoyed it. But what I can't forgive is the poor editing, which nearly had me putting the book down before the end of the first chapter. A typo here and there -- that happens. But pronoun errors, noun-verb disagreements, grammar errors ("their's" -- oops!) and punctuation problems really are annoying. This is the first novel I've read by this author and if other of her books are this ... I don't want to say sloppy because it sounds so negative, but these mistakes *were* sloppy ... I might have to reconsider. So the story was 4 stars but the editing was 2 stars. A good copy editor would be a big help.

Quirky, funny, frustrating, romantic , hopeful, all the emotions a couple goes through the obstacles of admitting to love.

Charlie is the sweetheart of the town in Alaska and she gives to everyone but herself. It is a rare person to sacrifice so much for others.Charlie is a in home care giver to 8 residents along with her friend Penny. Two of the residents have dimensions and they were her grandma best friends. Those two woman are special to her and draining since having them remember is a previous day indeed. One resident comes to visit a resident and he has a girlfriend and then is engaged. Whirlwind romances, competition, a rescue and lots of chaos. No violence and no sex a clean romance

Cute love story

Mitchell and Charlie meet in a diner where she worked. She drops water on his lap and ends up getting fired. He is a billionaire who has come to Alaska to visit his grandmother who has dementia. Charlie also runs the nursing home where his grandmother lives. This story is a bunch of emotional ups and downs. His girlfriend shows up and her ex comes back. They both try to make it work with their respective partners but things keep bringing them together. His grandmother is up and down with her memory but she ends up realizing who is is. This is a cute story. Love the ending.

There isn’t much to say about this book. It was pretty typical for a billionaire book. He swoops into a situation where money can go a long way but the object of his affection isn’t impressed. They realize there is an attraction but they can’t do anything about it due to outside forces. But they are able to overcome these forces which gives a happy ending to the story.

I did find it interesting that there was only one restaurant in the town but there was a bakery with wedding cake samples ready for tasting and a mattress store with 10 twin beds in stock.

Really enjoyed this book. Especially the tension between Charlie-(female) & Mitchell-(billionaire). Then of course you have other people like Victoria-(Mitchell's supposedly finance' who I would love to slap and knock her down a couple of pegs) & Alex-(Charlie's ex who cheated on her with another woman) and Charlie trying to figure out how to keep her grandmother's former home from being foreclosed and the other residents from finding another place to live. Very well written and can't wait to see what happens in book #2.

A Romantic Story

She grew up in a retirement centre. His grandmother lived there, and always wanted him. Age took its toll. When he eventually discovered where his beloved grandmother lived, and went looking for her, he met her. She furiously accussed him of neglecting his grandmother. Both were involved with other people - the wrong people. When they both realised their mistakes, they called it off. That left them free to be together.

Idioticy abounds in this story. She's taking care of 5 senior citizen and knows NOTHING about dementia or Alzheimer. She keeps hoping Rose's (key to story) memory will come back. Grandson (love interest) is too stupid to live. Has a gf in NY, she flies out and immediately tells him she found the ring he was going to give her that he claims he never bought. Drops the subject. She tells everyone their engaged, he says no and does nothing. And nothing gets better from there. I quit.

Sweet romance

The premise of this book is good. Too bad that the author never developed the characters more. I felt that they were very superficial and there was no depth to the book. Disappointing as it started out with promise. It was sweet but could have been a more satisfying read.

2.5 stars. This was my first book with this author but I gave to say it really wasnt my cup of tea. I really wanted to like it! I liked the setting, the background of the characters, how they met, etc. The execution of the story was my issue. It was pretty corney and the dialog was awkward. It just didnt seem real.

I'm sorry I just can't recommend this book.

Good story

While I enjoyed the characters and plot, I kept getting distracted by the spelling and grammar. I read voraciously and these 2 factors are a part of my enjoyment or disappoint in a book. I have read worse authors, and I try to be honest in my reviews.

That said, I still enjoyed the book story.

I liked this book. Was a short read for me. There was some friction between Charlie and Mitchell, whom were brought together by Mitchell's grandmother . He hadn't seen her in a long time and finally connected with her at a retirement home run by Charlie. There was tension in the air when Mitchell's fiancée shows up but Charlie acted nice. Recommend.

This is the story of Mitchel, the Billionaire, and Charlie. Anne-Marie's story's are usually easy reading, clean, fun HEA, but this one had a lot of twists and turns and ups and downs, to the point that at times you weren't sure if you could find your way out. Alls well that ends well as the saying goes. If you stick with it the story makes sense. Just murky at times.

Forgetting the Billionaire

He went looking for his grandma and found a woman who stole his heart. But life was not going to let them have an easy courtship. In walks his fiance and her ex. What happens next seems to be a comedy of errors that seems that they both won't be winning in the game of love. Or maybe they will.

Clean romance

I like how the relationship between Charlie and Mitchell is a slow build from complete strangers to falling in love.

I also like the fact that this book is a clean read.

Ok

A fun book but lacking in the excitement that this type of book usually has. The writing was ok but didn't flow real well. The characters were lovable and fun. Grandma Rose was the best character in the book.

What a refreshing idea to have a romance that didn't have copulation as a factor. It was also stimulating to have a heroine who was concerned for her paying boarders' happiness, and then had to learn that her own happiness was also of importance.

Frankie had a lot on her plate and Mitchell added to it. Reading about their lives and how much they both needed each other was so enjoyable. Can't wait to read the next book.
