In the fifth volume of my action-packed short story series Peter and the gang finally come face to face with the devil himself, Harold Cartwright. Responsible for engineering the outbreak that created The Decayed Ones, Harold was now hell bent on taking down Peter Troy before he can destroy all of the Elixir and bring an end to the chaos and horror. You won't want to miss this epic installment of The Rise of Peter Troy.

Last night my reading enjoyment of this series came to a climactic ending as I finished the final book, The Devil’s Reveal (The Rise of Peter Troy - Volume 5) by Joseph DiBartolo. I think the author really touched on so many emotions with his characters which made this reader laugh out loud, be angry at certain characters, hate some and fall in love with others. Not everyone will survive, but that’s to be expected when you are in the midst a zombie apocalypse. I don’t know if it was intentional on the author’s part but I really liked the nod to Zombie God George A. Romero with some of the final scenes taking place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, all hail George Romero!. All in all the devil met his match in Peter Troy and his assembled gang misfit zombie fighters. A story of good versus evil, as well as a look at what a group of like minded people will do when faced with the end of the world as they knew it. This is so much more than a zombie tale in that respect in my opinion. I’m looking forward to reading other works by this author and will have my eyes peeled for a possible Volume 6 (rebuilding a world after Harold Cartwright...hint, hint!)

About the Author: About the Author: Joseph DiBartolo is a new author, avid reader, and film enthusiast who resides in South Florida. A Timely Curse is his first publication and is of the paranormal variety at novella length.
Other books by Joseph DiBartolo: The Decayed (The Rise of Peter Troy - Volume 1), The Black Road (The Rise of Peter Troy - Volume 2), Mayhem (The Rise of Peter Troy - Volume 3), Extermination (The Rise of Peter Troy - Volume 4), A Timely Curse and Essence (Battle for Blood - Book 1).
So okay I knew that someone was going to end up dying and it had to be Grace. Poor little Tate, he has seen so much. That stupid Beth could've stayed her dumb self in the chopper like why you are going to get out and get yourself killed by your boss. If she was smart, she could've gone with Peter and his gang. But I do wonder what the next book will be about. Will book 6 be the end. If so I hope the author doesn't make anyone else die.
The last book in the series has Peter finding the one man he holds responsible for the zombie menace. Of course, anyone with a lick of sense knows even if you could take down and cut off the head of a snake, you may find many more are still out there causing havoc. The author has done a great job making this series of books extremely, interesting, compelling and the books make you think. If it isn't zombies, the world will always have someone or something evil that will challenge our way of life and our will to survive.
As I said in my review of part 4, I was worried that there wasn't enough of a page count left to do any sort of conclusion that would work both for the action needed, the character resolutions and the readers attachment to the group.
I was right. (Mild spoilers ahead, but if you have read parts 1-4 you should really be seeing this coming.)
Peter is now a bonafide killing machine. So he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants. The big baddy comes, a fire-fight ensues and people are quickly dispatched. The death of one of the add on characters Grace (since part 3) is less than 5 words long. This is part of my issue with this ending part. Grace has grown as a relate-able character, one in which many people will have developed an attachment too. And gone in a disjointed sentence. I can't even recall if the group mourns her after.
The bad guy stands no chance. Killed in a paragraph. And that's it. No discussion of where the world will go from there.
This series started off on a high, even after I realized Zombie stuff was no longer bringing me enjoyment, but I continued on hoping to see it build to something worthy of the buzz. It simply didn't.
3/5 Overall, although I am heavily leaning towards even a 2.75/5
This series keeps getting better and better. Now Peter and the gang finally come face to face with the devil incarnate Harold Cartwright, the creator of the apocalypse. Harold along with his gang of mercenaries have come to stop Peter, Jim and Lena before they can stop him. What follows is an all out war between good and evil, but who wins? Will Peter and hang defeat the evil and if they do what comes next? This is one of the best series of the apocalypse I've read and I can't wait to read more. I laugh , I cry, and really feel involved with the characters in this fast paced page turner. Each book is perfect for a quick lunch read and my only complaint is I have to impatiently wait for the next in this awesome series. So if you're into zombies and want to fall in love with the characters then this is perfect for you. Don't hesitate to grab this edge of your seat apocalyptic series it's definitely worth the read.

I finished books 1 thru 3 over a year ago and didn't remember much about them, and just finished books 4 and 5. I give both 3 stars. As before, I found the books easy to read, but I didn't enjoy these as much. They seems a bit superficial. I never really found myself excited about the story or engaged with the characters.
This was a really good book, I will never be disappointed, even though the book (series) is very short. It always has you curious and wanting to know what happened next. It is definitely a page-turner. I do wonder will there be a book 6.
Book 5 was actually real good. I hope to read more in the near future. I can say this author doesn't blink an eye killing off his characters which is great. Still wish it took them longer finding the sociopath who created the infection. But it's okay.
Love this series...every volume is more exciting than the last! WOW! Just wish I didn't have to wait so long for the next!! However Joseph DeBartolo always makes it worth the wait!!
This should be named The Fall of Harold Cartwright. Finally Peter and his group face off with the man who unleashed the outbreak that turned the world into zombies in an epic showdown.
