Alone, Pang Wan entered the Jiang Hu[1]. Her dream was to become a pure lady [2], to find her destined other half.
To fulfill this dream, everyday, she would dress elegantly in white and sit in the teahouse to admire handsome men and read her novels.
She heard, the demonesses [3] related to Jiang Hu were all, depending on their martial arts capabilities, divided into groups of three, six and nine. Currently, the evil woman, who had the beauty of a blossoming flower, who had a heart like snakes and scorpions, who could kill at such a young age, was a once in a century’s peerless demoness. She also heard that the demoness had came down the mountains to challenge the Wu Lin [4] champion Gu Xi Ju, to take the title of number one and to wreck havoc in the Jiang Hu.
Yet again she heard that all those who had decent martial arts skills vowed to get rid of this witch.
Aiyaya, it’s not good! Isn’t this demoness her? She did not kill the person! She did not start the fire!
This infamous name of the demoness is also not what she wanted!
Looks, like Jiang Hu’s road is very curved, she better run!

[1] Literally translated as rivers and lakes. Refers to the pugilist world. [2] Direct translation: A lady like a White Lotus, meaning pure. [3] Not exactly the supernatural kind. It’s kind of a name for the women of Jiang Hu. [4] Wu Lin meaning martial arts.
This is one my favourite chinese light novel that I like to re-read from time to time. It starts as a silly story with a delusioned girl, Pang Wan, who believes she is a typical Mary Sue character, everyone loves her and the world revolves around her. What she often forgets is that she also the heir of an evil martial sect and, as she will travel into the world to fulfill a sect task, she will meet new people and face situations that will make her grow and painfully realise that the real world is not like the magical and dreamy Mary Sue's land. Pang Wan is not a strong kick-ass heroine but at the same time she is not as silly as she seems to be, she is stubborn, sometimes naive, but she is resilient and will not lose courage facing adversity.
I have to say this is is one of my favourite light novels out there. It's well written and the author did a fantastic job of translating it. The MC in the beginning is kind of annpying, but that's what makes her character development so cute and sweet and sad. To see a carefree girl change into a determined person while still retaining her gentle heart is an incredible transformation. The book had a major twist (regarding her love interest) that I did not see coming at all, and it was a very fresh surprise. Totally recommend this novel to anyone interested.
This was an excellent read, very different from the norm. In my opinion, the second half was even better than the first half. Different vibes, obviously. Anyway, this book was very funny and well done, and the main character grows up so much. The male lead was loads of fun too, and I highly enjoyed their relationship. 4.5 stars. I stayed up quite late to read this, but it's because it was so good. It's one of the best martial arts/romance/wuxia type novels I've ever read. The pacing and the plot were both really well done, as was the characterization. Definitely recommended!
Originally from Mary Sue land, daydreamer MC waits for ML to sweep her off her feet and earnestly wants to find love (or create a harem?). But things don't work out as well as MC hopes.
This is a great novel! I got a little confused with MC's thoughts at the beginning, but got used to it after the story kept going. Both MC and ML characters develop throughout the story, and I really enjoyed their progress ^^
