Alka Dimri Saklani is a novelist and author of the much-loved Beyond Series(Beyond Secrets, Beyond Scars, and Beyond Lies). All three novels in the series are standalone. Her debut novel ’45 Days in a Cancer Hospital’ was longlisted for Crossword Books Award 2013.

Her readers define her writing as intense, though she dreams of writing a breezy read someday. She has searched more baby name websites to find names of her characters than she did to select the names of her kids. Sometimes she talks to her characters more than she talks to real people. But believe me she isn’t crazy; she is just a writer.

Noel has taken up a job as a counselor at an orphanage in Vadodara against the wishes of his parents. He keeps on having a feeling of déjà vu and flashbacks but doesn’t know what it means. Neha moves to the same orphanage for six months. Both of them struggle with their pasts as well as their present.

The story sucks me in right from the start. I loved the author’s writing. It was simple yet very gripping. The author describes the thoughts and emotions of the characters beautifully. It was very sad but interesting to read a story set in an orphanage.

I really liked Noel. He was kind and passionate. His character develops a lot throughout the book. He is one of those characters that I will remember.

Nidhi comes off as a cold-hearted person but the truth is that she doesn’t want to get close to anyone. She struggles with the pain of a past tragedy throughout the book. I could sympathize with her but her rude attitude towards Noel got a little annoying. Her character could’ve been done better.

The story of this book is very powerful. It was quite refreshing to read something like this. It was slow-paced but it wasn’t boring. There is suspense throughout the book and it kept me hooked. Themes such as adoption and poverty are also explored. The romance got a little corny at times. The story may have been a bit unrealistic and over the top. but I still enjoyed it. However, I think the plot was overdone towards the end.

The title is fitting for the book as we see that everyone has some secrets and the question is whether they can get past them or not. I liked this book much more than I expected. This is the first good romance book by an Indian author that I have read. It held my attention throughout. I liked how the romance wasn’t the main theme and the plot was much deeper. I haven’t read a book like this in a long time. It is the perfect weekend read. I loved the suspense and the intensity of the book. The writing weaved the story beautifully.

I highly recommend this book.

Beyond Secrets is a suspense novel with good plotting and storyline. The story is captivating that keeps you hooked to the book till the end. The suspense in the story is quite unpredictable that makes the book a real page turner.
The plot of the story is quite interesting. Even the blurb is very attractive and compels a reader to pick the book for a read. It is the story of Noel, a counsellor, Nidhi, an engineering student and Appu, a sweet little orphan who is unaware of the cruelties of the world, and their interwoven lives.
The twists and turns in the story make the book all the more interesting. With layers of suspense and different nuances of relationships, it is an enjoyable read.
The characterisations are done nicely and they have been developed well. There are places and incidents where you would like the character and then there are places where you will hate them for their decisions. But overall, all of them are quite relatable and feel real. The narration style is good and one can feel the agony and pains of the characters along with them. What I liked was the vivivd descriptions and style of narration that helped me visualise the whole scenario.
The author has managed to keep the suspense intact till the end.
Beyond secrets is a well-executed, fast paced story with a suspense plot that will keep you hooked till the very last page of the book.
The cover of the book is just okay and fails to catch the eyes of the readers. Title also has nothing new to offer.
Overall, I enjoyed reading Beyond secrets. It’s a quick, fast paced book, apt for a short flight or lazy weekend afternoon. Recommended for all who are looking for a quick, fact paced read without investing a lot emotionally in the story.

Beyond Secrets is a must read for every book lover. This suspense oriented romance novel will keep you hooked onto it until you finish it. The story is packed with secrets, personal quests, and unanswered questions revolving around the three protagonists, Noel, Nidhi, and Appu. Where Noel has been on the receiving end of a lie, Nidhi has lied to her parents. All three of them are miles apart but meet under the roof of Aashiyana, an orphanage, where Appu lives.
Beyond Secrets is written amazingly well, with only a few disconnects at some places. But, the story is so powerful that despite these disconnects you will not be able to put the book down the book till you are done with it.

A Book that will touch your heart !!

If a book can hold you till its last page, that is where the Author wins.

Ashiyana is an orphanage, rather a home for those children who didn't know where they belonged to. This is the place where the story begins and ends.

People who are blessed with family and friends never know how it feels to be an orphan living at the mercy of some kind hearted people. Even Noel and Nidhi were not aware of the orphans’ world until they stepped into Ashiyana. They both had their own reasons to come there.

Noel felt as if he knew every corner of that place. Whereas Nidhi was searching answers for some questions that were burning inside her. At last, both of them ended up discovering many unexpected bitter truths of their lives during their stay in Ashiyana. Meanwhile they both fell in love with each other. Initially Nidhi was not ready to accept that she loved Noel and finally when she accepted, Noel left her saying he hate her !!!!

Appu was a six year old boy who lived in Ashiyana. Noel and Nidhi felt an unknown special bonding with that child. They were helplessness when Appu pleaded them not to send him with the couple who adopted him, which they regretted later.

Now don’t consider this novel as a mere love story. Noel’s and Nidhi’s love story is only a part of the novel. Many more interesting characters will touch your heart when you get to read ‘Beyond the Secrets’. There is Simin (the care taker of Ashiyana), Sam (Noel’s twin brother), Pattu (Noel’s friend), Manu (Nidhi’s little brother) and many more.

At some point in the book I felt, the story has reached its end. When I saw lot more pages pending to read, I thought the Author is simply dragging the story. But Alka Dimri Saklani proved me totally wrong. The way she turned the flow of the story was amazing. The interest that I lost in the middle of the book for around 10-12 pages was magically regained and then I finished the book in one sitting.

This book makes us think over many aspects of life. Feelings of a parent who decide to abandon his/her child, feelings of an abandoned child, feelings of an adopted child, feelings of the parents who adopted an orphan child; every single aspect has been pictured sensibly throughout. In addition to this certain religious aspects are also highlighted at various instances.

Beyond the Secrets has a very touching story line which would make us realize how lucky we are with our family and friends all around us. When some children demand constant attention of their parents and never takes ‘no’ for an answer, there are some others who never know the meaning of parents. When we compare hostel food and mother’s food, there are some others who have no option for any comparison.

I highly recommend this book to all book lovers.

My Review
"Food and shelter is not enough for survival. The pain of being abandoned by society, more than that by your own parents, is unimaginable. These children suffer from loss of identity and purpose, shattered trust and uncertain beliefs. To bind all the pieces together they need words of motivation, love and care."
Have you ever took your parents as well as your life for granted? Have you ever took out some time to think about the state of the orphans? Have you ever visited an orphanage?
You may or may not have pondered over these questions ever but this book will make you think about the harsh realities of the world, we are unaware of.
This Book is so captivating that it keeps you hooked till the very end. The story is about Noel and Nidhi who worked in an orphanage * Ashiyana * as volunteers. The author did an excellent job in portraying the characters diligently. I was connected to  both the characters instantly.
Noel was a rebellious child and always did what he wanted. He took his life as well his parents for granted, but the scenario changed when he started living in the orphanage. He started missing his family and the lavish life he enjoyed back at home and got to understand the importance of his family.
"She didn’t hate people around her, she feared them, feared the bonding that could connect her to anyone, I often wondered if she was even connected to herself."
On the other hand, Nidhi who seemed to be a cold hearted person comes off as a broken person from inside. She had been living in the past tragic moments of her life which never allowed her to trust anyone. She had come to the orphanage for her own motive. I loved the way her character  developed throughout the story.
The story further explores the life of Noel, Nidhi and the orphans. The twists and turns in the story were amazingly written and you won't be able to guess what was going to happen next. Though the book was slow paced but I never got bored of it.
The emotions felt by the characters were so realistic that I literally cried while reading the book. * hides my face *
Beyond Secrets is a heart touching story which will make you realize the importance of family and friends in one's life and will make you ponder over the fact that how lucky we are to get a family who loves us so much.
" Some secrets are so ugly that we feel it’s the dead end, but day by day, moment by moment as we walk out of it we realise there is a life beyond those secrets."
I definitely recommend each and everyone to read this book.

But, the feelings of Nidhi and concern can't be express by this story regarding the incident happens with Appu. That is most important thing that missed in this story. Elsehwhere just the story tolds atlast both Noel and Nidhi married and adopted the Appu.

Children are very sensitive, more than we think and some incidents often leave an ever-lasting impression on them; impressions which we are never able to understand or which affect them beyond our imaginations.

Beyond Secrets is an intense story of Nidhi, Noel, Appu, and Pattu, depicting romance, mystery, and some heart rendering, thought-provoking stories.

Often kids are left at orphanages due to various reasons. Some are lucky enough as they get adopted by awesome families while some are not that lucky enough. Some orphanages take good care of children who are under their care while some, well, it's best left unsaid.

‘Aashiyana’ is one such orphanage, whose in-charge Simin take good care of kids. Noel and Nidhi come to Aashiyana as volunteers but in reality, both are hiding or better say, running away from reality in search of real identity and to find out some secret of their past.

The author has done a very fine job of explaining in depth how some incidents of the protagonist childhood leave a deep impression on them.

Use of simple language, use of real-life incidents like communal riots and its life-changing impact on Nidhi, social issues like child trafficking, common approach of people towards a particular religion, all are weaved in such an effortless manner that nothing seems out of context.
Alka has done such a wonderful job while writing this story that one actually feels the pain, the hurt that the protagonist feels and describes while reading it. Very rarely you come across a book, which stays with you for a long time after completion; Beyond Secrets is one such book.

Beyond Secrets is a must read by one and all.

Beyond Secrets is such an intense read that I still find it difficult to gather all my thoughts about the book. My heart is heavy after reading all the emotional turmoils of characters as if I am experiencing them myself.

In the backdrop of real incidences the author has weaved the disturbing tales of many characters who suffered from the cruelties of life. The story deals with many sensitive issues like child abandonment, adoption, child trafficking, religious differences and commumal riots. And I must say that author dealt with all the issues in the best possible and positive manner.

There are secrets which were held back from the lead characters. When they are revealed both the protagonist Noel and Nidhi lives goes haywire. They suffer from intense inner turmoil. Author has done fabulous job in penning their mental condition. It was heart rendering to read.

It is an easy to read book but the content of the novel is heavy on heart. The issue of abandoning a child and adoption is thought provoking. Child trafficking and abusing was disturbing to read. Religious differences and communal riots were not new but author's approach towards it was positive and harmonious.

My takeaway from this novel is instead of holding back secrets of adoption and abandonment from the child, parents should be one to reveal the truth at the right time. Instead of hoping the child will never come to know so why bother. It is always better to tell. I think many will agree with my thought.

The book has been written in first person from the point of view of the characters. A page just before the beginning of the chapter tells the reader as to whose point of view is being described. The language is simple English and the flow kept me glued till I read the last page of the book.

The characters have been developed well and are realistic and relatable. Even the little kids in the orphanage who have a little role to play in the story have left an impact on me. Even though there are parts in the book which have been written in the time frame from different characters’ point of view, not once did I feel that it was not in continuation. The descriptions of scenes are such that it was very easy to visualize them.

The part I liked most was that the flash back and all the diary entries are italicized making it easier for the reader to relate to them. Sam’s diary and the revelations has been beautifully depicted.

The book has drama, suspense, and twists and turns till the end. What the kids at the orphanage did not have, made me realize that we have a lot to thank god for. Start the book with one thing other than your cup of coffee or tea- A box of tissues, you are sure to need those.

A must read.

Beyond secrets is an emotional roller-coaster
A Novel which is well written, I love what the author has done with her words. This novel is going to be one of my favorite read of this year. Words that bring so much of emotions to life, basic emotions of every human is well depicted in her words. Fast moving storyline, gripping and trilling. There were so many pages I read with a heavy heart and so much of unspoken words and pain stuck in my throat. The story revolves around Noel, Nidhi, Appu and Aashiyana, their life’s fate and destiny take us on an emotional roller-coaster. Noel, Nidhi, Appu and Aashiyana stays in our mint for few more days even after you finish the book. This novel will make you feel grateful for so many blessings in your life and make you furious for the ruthless bias done by our society.
“Now, I knew what separation could do to love, soak it in so many layers of memories and pain that it was impossible to be free of it”
“Never analyse people for what they did, instead think why they did it. And what would I have done had I been in their place?”
Everyone’s got a story, and Alka’s story (Novel) is worth reading. looking forward for more novels from her.

Before reading this book ‘Beyond Secrets’, you would look at everything around you in a very normal way. Maybe not even notice some things which you are so lucky to have: a family, loving parents and siblings, a happy childhood and so on… And then when you read chapter after chapter of this book, you start looking at the smallest things with an entire new value. It suddenly makes you realize that you could easily be among the many unfortunate ones in the world.

The author has set such an unpredictable flow to this deep story that you smile, cry, gasp or sigh at any page of the book without expecting it. The tag line which explains it all...All that is required to change life is sometimes just a truth. Just..one..truth.

The author the ‘Beyond Secrets’, Alka Dimri Saklan, holds a MBA degree in HR and worked with a leading MNC before turning to a full-time writer. Born and brought up in Vadodara, a city in Gujarat, her roots hail from Uttarakhand. She is the author of "45 Days in a Cancer Hospital" and "Beyond Secrets". Her debut novel “45 Days in a Cancer Hospital” was longlisted for the prestigious Crossword Books award 2013.

Noel, the protagonist of the story, is a young counsellor against the wishes of his father, who wants him to help in the business, just like his twin brother Sam. Sam’s characteristics always made Noel wonder, how could he be so different despite being his twin brother? Sam was sophisticated, well-mannered and slim, while Noel considered himself aggressive and bulky and had an ugly scar on his face. These differences and issues with the family made him an aloof and mysterious person. To continue his interest in counselling, he decided to join an orphanage called Aashiyana as a counsellor to the kids.

Nidhi has almost completed her graduation. Well she is an epitome of a mystery lady too! She is very tough from outside but from inside she is broken and in so much pain. She is constantly running away from the dark side of her past and joins Aashiyana to get some time away from her family. But she has another motive of being here. She is here to find answers to a lot of questions she has about her life. Answers that only this orphanage could give her.

The dark and interesting side of the book starts when Noel begins to get a feeling of déjà vu in the orphanage. He remembers minute details about the orphanage but doesn’t know why he knows that as he had visited this place for the first time. Well that’s what he believed! This mystery keeps the reader hooked to the story till the end. It turns out that Noel has a shocking past himself. A past about his family that he had never imagined and which makes him question his own identity…

The story is dark and very emotional, but the parts about the lives of orphanage kids and their hopes; and the budding love and companionship between Noel and Nidhi makes the story light when needed. The author has dealt the sensitive topic of orphanage and the life of kids there in a very matured manner. I felt that some parts in the story were redundant. They could probably be rewritten or avoided. Also at some point, I felt that absolutely everything was going wrong with the characters’ lives. There could be some positive twists added which could give hope to the readers.

Overall, I enjoyed reading ‘Beyond Secrets’. My favorite character is Noel, who has such a dark and sad past but struggles through it all and comes out as a strong, forgiving person and a life-saver. This isn’t a weekend-chill book. It is a story to be read with patience and with a pace you are comfortable in. I was constantly in tears and was so thankful for having a great life, starting with the Kindle in hand! This unpredictable book is totally a must read.
My rating – 3.5/5

It is a story about two people, from different walks of life who meet each other at an orphanage, both have different motives to come there, both are looking to unravel the mysteries they have been facing throughout their lives, both are looking to look beyond secrets as to what exactly is their real story and who they actually are.
Noel, comes to the orphanage, who works as a counsellor, but when he comes there, it seems he has already seen some of the visuals of the place, as if he has been there before, maybe in this life or maybe in past life. Why does he feel this way, what is the secret behind these visuals he keeps seeing again and again?
Nidhi, she comes to the orphanage with another reason. Somehow a secret is spilled that she was adopted from this orphanage, she is on a quest as to find out who her biological parents were? Does she find out?
In the middle of their quests, love blossoms between Noel and Nidhi, both face different challenges in life, both come across a crisis in their lives, this orphanage, Aashiyana, being the common factor, would they conquer their past and move ahead together?
Beyond Secrets, by Alka Saklani is all about answering these questions. It is an emotional roller coaster; a story which will bring you goose bumps, which will bring you tears, which will make you face the reality, specially of orphanages and it will make you wonder if you have done enough for your parents. There might have been times when you might have hated your parents for some reason or the other, but have you ever thought of why did the parents do something which made you hate them, what were the circumstances, have you ever placed yourself in their position in those circumstances and have you thought what you would have done that time? These are all the answers that one can expect from this book.
It is a sad story no doubt, but then it might also be a true reflection of most of us. The book will make you realise, how fortunate we all are, especially those living with their own parents, however poor they may be, but if there is family, there is love and nothing can substitute that.
Beyond Secrets might not qualify to be a commercial pot-boiler, but it is a thought provoking book.
This book may not be the one you are looking for in case you want to get entertained, you want some humour, you want some action drama. This book is a heavy, hard hitting and reality based book which might not make you sleep at times.
Overall, Alka Saklani is a good story teller, she has weaved a wonderful tale, it has its own piece of romance, though it could have been a little more to make the story lighter, but then the author herself knows best what she wants to communicate.

Beyond Secrets revolves around the lives of Noel and Nidhi.

Noel is a young freelance counseller who wants to volunteer in an orphanage against the wishes of his Dad who wants him to join his business like Noel's twin - Sam. Sam! Noel always keeps wondering how different they are from each other though they are twins and envies him. Noel's parents give in to his wishes and he is sets of to Aashiyana, an orphanage to volunteer there. But when Noel arrives there, there is a strange sense of deja vu. The place seems familiar to him and he feels like he knows everything about the place. But what he can't seem to understand is why is it so!

Nidhi craves for freedom, for love and for a normal life though on the outside she appears like someone who is cold and insensitive. She is an engineering student on the verge of completing her studies and in order to run away from the demons of the past, she decides to go away from a house she can now barely call a home for her training while also choosing to volunteer at Aashiyana.

While getting used to life at Aashiyana, Noel and Nidhi both have questions of their own for which they search for answers. There are secrets that when discovered can leave them shattered. Sometimes only after you find answers you realize that you would have been better off not knowing the truth.

The story moves steadily. Written in the first person, you can't help but connect with the emotions that the characters undergo. The characterization is good as its realistic. What I liked was how the characters like the kids of the orphanage also add to the story. I liked the way the story unfolds with all the twists and turns. Its not the usual boy meets girl and fall in love kind of story. This is a journey of self discovery, of finding one's identity and a lot emotions. With its simple narration, this is a quick read.

There are a few parts in the story which seemed a little redundant and hence I lost me interest in those few parts. What put me off about the book was the language. Though the storyline is good, the editing could have been better. The end seemed a little abrupt

There are so many emotions that the book lets you discover - of abandonment, of loneliness and confusion. Overall I liked the book for the message it conveyed. It makes you realize that though everything in life is not okay, we still have a lot of blessings to count.

BOOK REVIEW: BEYOND SECRET by ALKA DIMRI SAKLANI
TITLE: BEYOND SECRET
AUTHOR: ALKA DIMRI SAKLANI
PAGES: 238
GENRE: CONTEMPORARY, ROMANCE
IF I COULD REVIEW IT IN A SINGLE LINE: HAVE AT IT ALREADY, WOULD YOU?
THE ACTUAL REVIEW:
Relationships, emotions, trust, forgiveness, a little bit of comedy, a lot of Bollywood drama and you have yourself a seller. Alka’s book in every sense reminded me of a Bollywood script with if I may say a little better grammatical accuracy which is well a very well respected attribute of the same again. Lets delve into the themes of this book shall we?
Childhood, parents, and the whole world view that goes along with it beautifully packed into a 238 paged novella of a quite literate acumen if you must say. Noel, a counsellor (though I prefer him to be a called a psychologist or psychoanalyst for that matter because it has a better ring it than being called a counsellor) has a twin(how cliched) and lives with his parents. He volunteers at an orphanage (because well the protagonist has to be chocolate covered boy, not that I’m complaining though) and his experiences with the children there have him retrospect on how he has taken things for granted in his life. He goes on to have weird flashbacks associated with the place and seems to feel a connection he cannot shake from the place.
Nidhi is an anti social(not the bad one) engineering student with a somewhat troubled past and obviously our protagonist is drawn towards her, they form a friendship which has been very delicately depicted in the book and doesn’t seem over the top at any point of time.
Everyone has skeletons in their closets, dealing with those and bouncing back to the happily ever after was a good but somewhat predictable outcome of the book.
Alka Dimri Saklani has done a good job with the catchy plotline, loop holes, twists and a marvelous on the point novel. The narration could improve a bit but I’m not complaining a lot.
Cover: 3/5

This is a book that has kindled emotions and reactions in me that I didn’t know were there. This is the second book by the author and the topic she has chosen to write about is so unique. ‘Secrets’, all of us have them. Then there are some secrets which when come to light affect different people in different ways. Do knowing the secrets about our life change us, our life and the way we deal with life? Read the story to find out.
This is the story of Noel, Nidhi and Appu but there are many more characters in the story and each and every one of them is justified in their existence in the story. Every character is etched by their behaviour, their feelings and their reaction to life.
Noel, a counsellor by profession comes to this orphanage named ‘Ashiyana’ in Vadodara. Instead of joining his father’s business he comes here to live and work in the orphanage to prove himself to his parents. But then why does he get a sense of déjà vu at this place? How is this place related to him?
Nidhi, she arrives at this orphanage as a volunteer. She has lied to her parents and come here on the pretext on industrial training. Why does she have to lie? What is it that she wants to discover at ‘Aashiyana’.
Appu, is a young boy of 6 at the orphanage who is bubbly and full of life despite being an orphan.
The story revolves around these three characters and their lives. The author has been able to touch so many topics by just one work of hers. Many sensitive topics have been talked about in a very mature and non judgemental way.
I loved the way every chapter ends with a twist that you feel compelled to go to the next chapter.
There are so many quotable quotes and life lessons that just form a part of the narrative.
But then why am I giving it 4 stars? At places the narration felt a bit choppy. Nothing that takes away from the brilliant story that has been created .
I would definitely recommend this read that has touched the cords of my heart and evoked so many emotions and made me think of what life can be Beyond the Secrets that we hold.

The cover had some sort of queerness that enticed me towards it. The blurb was written methodically without giving away the crux which was absolutely necessary to build up the suspense in a thriller.

What I liked about this book is the author’s realistic approach towards emotions and relationships.Serious issue of communal violence that is prevalent in the society was addressed sensibly without taking sides.

In the beginning, the novel moves in a snails pace, but the narration will keep you immersed in the story. The characters were diligently framed such that you will be able to feel their emotions. The metamorphosis of a being transcending through different phases of life has been perfectly woven with words.

Noel is described as a rebellious kid who had taken the privileges bestowed on him by his parents for granted. When he comes to the orphanage for volunteering, he feels a strange familiarity with the surroundings even though he had come to the place for the first time. His mind oscillates violently between reality and his world of hallucinations. Noel is unable to find plausible reasons for his delirium. His state of mind is aptly described in words. He is attracted towards Nidhi and is determined to break the barriers she had created around her. Nidhi could easily pass off as a cold hearted person but deep down she’s broken beyond repair.

There are times where you will breath a sigh of relief for your favourite characters and in the next moment due to the unexpected turn of events you will feel the palpitations within.

Some parts still needed editing and there were many sentences that were redundant. These things disrupted the flow of reading to some extent. Towards the end, the plot was unnecessarily stretched. Even though with all of its flaws, there is so much to take away from this novel.

‘Beyond Secrets’ is an intense and a gripping novel. Kudos to the author for thinking something out of the box and executing it brilliantly.

Beyond Secrets is a sensitive and intense story of Noel, Nidhi and Appu. Noel works as a counsellor at an orphanage where he meets Neha. Both of them are going through a similar condition as both of them are struggling with their pasts as well as their present. Appu, is a young boy of 6 at the orphanage who is bubbly and full of life despite being an orphan. The story revolves around these three characters and their lives.

Beyond Secrets is an exceptionally captivating and intense story that has all the ingredients to hook the reader till the end. The reader travels through an emotional journey while reading it. What I liked was the hint of twist and suspense that the author managed to create after every chapter. I found myself glued to the book till I reached the last page. The book is so intriguing and enjoyable. It’s a treat for readers who enjoy reading emotional tales.
The language if the book is beautiful and description is very fine. I could imagine every scene in my mind while reading it. The author has done a very fine job of explaining in depth the incidents. The language is simple and the flow is lucid.
The book deals with multiple issues and draws our attention towards the ill effects of communal riots, child trafficking, conflict between beliefs of staunch followers of various religions, dilemma of children staying at orphanages etc. There are several emotions that the book deals with. This book makes us think over many aspects of life.
The cover of the book is enticing and the title is also perfect that fully justifies the story. Plot of the story is very interesting and the execution is also fine.
In a nutshell, Beyond Secrets is a book that will take you through a roller coater journey of emotions. A must read for those who like reading sensitive stories.

In this book Author talks about relationships, emotions, trust, acceptance, forgiveness and so on..Childhood and parents play an important role in any person’s life and the same is explained very beautifully by the Author!!!

The Story revolves around Noel, a counsellor, who lives with his parents and a twin brother..He starts to volunteer in an orphanage and his experiences with children there helps him to realize the fact that he has taken many things in his life for granted..He understands the pain of those children without parents..Further that orphanage seems to be a familiar place for him and he gets many memories associated with that place and is confused..When he finally knows the truth, he doesn’t know how to react to the same..What happens next forms the rest of the story!!!

He meets Nidhi, an engineering student, who has a troubled past and due to that she doesn’t mingle with others..Noel slowly becomes her friend and their relationship is depicted well by the author!!!

There are some secrets in life which we are not aware of and is very difficult to accept the same if we get to know the same..Both Noel and Nidhi face the darkest secrets of their life and they slowly bounce back to lead a happier life..

I liked the way in which Author had portrayed the character of Sam, Noel’s twin brother..It is very important to understand a person’s situation before judging them..I liked the way author explains the importance of trust in any relationship..

Overall, I feel this book is interesting and engaging to read!!!

My rating for this book is 4/5.

Disclaimer: I received a digital copy of book in return for my honest review..I didn’t receive any monetary compensation for the same.

Reading through the first few pages, I realized the need to scratch off my head. Why would some one picture a horror plot in an orphanage? Well, I was a bit suspicious about the plot. Yes, I don’t have the habit of reading the blurb before beginning a book. The characters have been well-framed by the author. More importantly, there are emotions which are well-depicted in the plot. With the description of orphanage situated in Vadodra, you may go back to the story of ‘Oliver Twist’. The only evil character I figured out was Simin as I flipped the pages. I am glad I was proved wrong, she was the most caring orphanage warden ever mentioned in stories. I hesitated at the mention of the names, before every section. Only at the end, I realized the author tried explanation emotion of every person, individually for every situation. Noel, a person filled with motivation and heart full of love. Nidhi, a character which defines broken soul. With this story, you would learn how to grow from being stubborn to caring. It would teach you to take life as it comes to you. The characters are interconnected and teach a different lesson at the end of the plot. How religions do not affect people, you will learn from the plot. The plot is home for thousands of emotions, but pain is the predominant one described in the book. I would say the plot would have been minimized a bit, as some of the chapters failed to keep me clinged to the book. At the end of the plot, I am sure the readers would learn to fight back sorrows in life. Secrets, Is life beautiful beyond secrets? How did it break Noel and Nidhi, separately and together? Why do secrets question your trust in loved one? Maybe, Beyond Secrets is the answer to some of the secrets life has hidden from you.

This sentiment driven mystery thriller is about Noel, a freelance counsellor who seeks freedom and embarks on the challenging journey to find answers for his existential crisis. He steps out of his golden cage of comfort by leaving behind his house and family business and joins 'Aashiyana', an orphanage as a volunteer.

Nidhi,an engineering student, introverted and cold meets him at the orphanage where she volunteers too.Appu is an orphan living in this orphange .

Their life, unsolved unknown secrets, overwhelming emotions explode to create choas which was better or for worse even they can't comprehend.

Their fates ate intertwined in this choas . One unexpected phone call leaves them curious which leads them to more mystery of a stolen diary and their hidden paths.

But in the end does it matter or was it better the way it was before. Sometimes truth can hurt more and lies can feel fine.

I loved the mystery of the title and book cover. Also the author has woven not one but several genre very well making this book a complete package. The romance between the two leads is good and the mystery and thrill is even better. The writing style is elegant and I like the changing character dynamics with the plot .
The issues in focus like trafficking, riots, communal voilence, childhood trauma, adoption, maturing at an early age and facing poverty are some reasons that make this book even more important.

Overall a good read for thriller suspension melodramatic slice of life book genre lovers

Title - Beyond Secrets
Author - Alka Dimri Saklani
Genre - fiction

'Beyond Secrets' by Alka Dimri Saklani is a fictional read which revolves around the protagonists Noel and Nidhi who met at an orphanage Ashiyana. Noel, a counselor who left his family and his father's business just to prove himself came to volunteer an orphanage. He always felt a sense of belonging to that place.

On the other hand Nidhi, an engineering student and a cold hearted person was also there to volunteer Ashiyana and was in search of some questions. Meanwhile both of them fell in love with each other but one phone call, a stolen diary, many lies and secrets from the past changed everything.

What were the secrets of their past?

Beyond secrets by alka dimri saklani. First of all in this novel the reason for which I picked it up for reading was the title and its blurb. Title is really catchy and the blurb is exciting as it talks about secrets and suspense.
The story revolves around 3 main characters Noel, nidhi and appu which is set in a orphanage. Well I felt the start as a bit boring and too much formality and plot to be a bollywood mix but as soon as the story progresses their is certain connection that I as reader felt connected to the book. Emotions, love, sacrifices are well described in this novel and ya suspense too but you can know only after you read it.
Well the language Is really a simple one as an Indian author normally use along with proper grammar and editing might have been much better although the plot was beautifully paced in between till the end to keep a reader hooked to it. The characters are amazing and also the climax has been beautifully penned. I will rate it 4/5 stars as I felt the their is bit more improvement required to make it much more engaging at the start.
Verdict: Beyond secrets is a beautiful narration of hidden emotions that a human lives with and intense plot makes it much more gripping.
Amazing work done by author.

The book is a worthy take on many subtle things like love, emotions, empathy and betrayal.

Noel as a protagonist assumes the role of a counsellor in an orphanage.

Simin and Shubham introduce him to many impoverished and forgotten children.

"All I knew at six—and he didn’t—who a mother was."

In the second chapter, Noel stumbles upon the endless miseries of the little ones.

"The story remained incomplete, like our dreams…"

The saddest part of the story is when Nidhi and her parents find Manu dead. He was only a six year old child.

The catchy part of the book is the story of the protagonists.

The nature of Noel as a man to bring the smile on face of the children. His helpful nature is a great thing to notice. Nidhi tries her best to help doing the Orphanage work where she didn't knew anything previously.

"How does one cope with the knowledge of having been abandoned by one’s parents?"

What about Noel and Nidhi? Can they overcome their past secrets?

"I could barely speak through my sobs as I placed my finger on his lips."

Delve into the thrilling story with utmost emotional ups and downs.

I liked the theme for highliting the plight of the orphans. The characters are well built.

Recommended to all.

This story has a very different and twisted plot. From reading the first page you can not even guess the further topic of the book. The book is written in Different Narratives. Noel and Nidhi are two different people but meet at the same place. I love Noel's character and his compassion and kindness towards everyone. How his own father treated him was very traumatic and affected his whole personality as an adult person.
Noel is a counselor and wanted to spend his 6 months with orphanage children, against his family's wishes. He is always compared to his twin brother Sam. Sam is the perfect boy according to his family but not Noel that is why Noel becomes the counselor and likes to help those who need his help.
At the Orphanage, there are many kids who need a good counselor, and one kid Priyansh is a special case. He has lost his parents and he needs to face the reality of his life.
Will Noel be able to help that kid and others? Will Nidhi open up with Noel and do they have any chemistry between them? Will they ever be able to recover from their past? To know more read this book.

Have you ever visited an orphanage??

Beyond secrets is a suspense novel with a good plotting and storyline. The story is so captivating that keeps you hooked to the book till the end. The story is packed with secrets, personal quests, and unanswered questions revolving around the three protagonists Noel, nidhi & Appu. All three of them meet under the roof of Aashiyana, an orphanage.

I love the pain, sadness, love and hurtness between Noel & Nidhi. Ofcourse its not a story of typical boy who meets a girl and they fall in love, its a story of family, friendship, pain , loss , religion, inner conflict & obviously love. Also the story deals with many sensitive issues like child abandonment, adoption, child trafficking and communal riots. I must say author deal with all the issues in the best possible and positive manner.
I would definitely recommend this read that touched my heart and make me think what life can be Beyond the secrets that we hold.

BOOK REVIEW
BOOK - Beyond Secrets
AUTHOR - Alka Dimri Saklani
GENRE - THRILLER

The story is set in a orphanage named Aashiyana where many lives meet. The protagonist of this book is Noel.

Noel was a counselor who was volunteering in the orphanage. He meets Nidhi in the there. Nidhi was going through a rough patch and was trying hard to reconcile with her bad past.

Noel and Nidhi had a connection but it was not without problems. Though thriller was the main theme, romance was a recurring subject.

The nightmares, and the events took place were intertwined well by the author which kept me hooked throughout.

The book delved deep into the nuances of relationship and the impact of the past on our present.

Will Noel and Nidhi unite ?

Can Nidhi let go of her past and lead a normal life ?

The authors language and the plots intensity worked for me. Highly recommended for thriller and romance fans as this is a rare combination in the Indian set up. Check it out.

'Beyond Secrets' is a story set in an orphanage 'Aashiyana'. Our protagonist Noel is a counsellor there who devoted his life to the children living there. He crossed path with a college student Nishi who also came to volunteer there. Book cover is simple yet catchy.🤩 Language is easy to understand. But the flow of the story breaks every now and then that somehow makes the reader loose interest. Plot is full of mystery and unpredictable twists and turns. Storyline is unique which is why I'm recommending it to all the thriller and romance lovers.💖 There is another reason why one should read this book is the author's effort to sensatize us of the issues lying in the society like child trafficking, adoption, poverty, biasness, community riots etc. Kudos to the author for raising such issues through her writing. 👏👏 There is a lot of scope for improvement.
Good luck for her upcoming books.🧿✨

Beyond Secrets is a profound story of Nidhi, Noel, Appu, and Pattu, depicting romance, mystery, and some heart rendering, thought-eliciting stories.

The Story revolves around Noel, a counsellor, who lives with his parents and a twin brother..He commences to volunteer in an orphanage and his experiences with children there avails him to realize the fact that he has taken many things in his life for granted..He understands the pain of those children without parents..Further that orphanage seems to be a familiar place for him and he gets many recollections associated with that place and is confounded..When he conclusively kens the veracity, he doesn't ken how to react to equipollent..What transpires next forms the rest of the story!

I doted the way every chapter ends with a convolution that you feel compelled to go to the next chapter. There are so many quotable quotes and life edifications that just form a component of the narrative.

Thank you
