Collects Thor (1966) #229-241 and Marvel Premiere #26.
Thor is lucky to have the mighty Hercules at his side - because Loki has teamed with Firelord in a bid to usurp Odin's throne! Meanwhile, Jane Foster has returned, and Thor is torn between aiding her on Earth and remaining in defense of Asgard! And when the Absorbing Man and Ulik the Troll enter the fray, the drama reaches epic proportions that will have you on the edge of your seat! Before it's over, Thor will battle the gods of Egypt to save Odin from death itself. And to top off this voluminous volume, we're including a rare Hercules solo tale from Marvel Premiere!

Well this was a delightful trip down memory lane. I last read these issue in black and white format in the old Marvel UK reprints when I was a kid. It was a lot of fun revisiting them, lo, these thirty-odd years later and in colour no less!
Through these weary semi-functional adult eyes I see these tales aren't quite the epics I remember them being but some of the impact is probably lost because I read this whole book in three days rather than having the stories chopped up into five page chunks and drip fed over a period of many, many weeks. They're still a lot of fun, though, and definitely some of the best work Marvel were putting out during the 1970s.
The artwork, mainly by Big John Buscema but with a couple of issues by his kid brother Sal, was great. The only fly in the artwork ointment was the fill-in issue by Rich Butler, who was still desperately trying to be Jack Kirby at this point.
Highly recommended to Thorophiles everywhere, by Odin
Marvel's Thor is not your classic Norse God of Thunder but he is definitely a heroic kinda guy. I think I enjoy his various cast of characters as much as I do the main character. The Warriors Three are always good for a laugh. Nice collection of these classic stories. Recommended
